In Ozpin's office, Qrow and Glynda were persuading Ozpin not to do what he was planning. They knew that if something happened to Pyrrha, they would have a worse enemy than the fake Maiden.
"I say this is insane, Ozpin," Glynda said. "We know that Jaune is not a threat and is willing to help us if needed. But if you do this, you will be making an enemy out of a powerful person".
"Glynda's right," Qrow said. He thought of something. "Hold on a minute. You're doing this since you need a successor to the power of the Maiden. What if we don't have to look for a successor? Jaune has don't many things that we know are not the norm. For Oum's sake, the guy can use magic. What if he has a way to help our fallen Maiden?".
"That's not a bad idea," Glynda said to Qrow. For once, Qrow had a brilliant idea. "We know that Jaune has no interest in the power of the Maiden as his ability to wield magic surpass the power of the Maiden. We also know that he isn't working for her. Maybe, just maybe, he is the person that can help us with our predicament".
"I suppose that's a valid reason," Ozpin said. "However, if Jaune isn't able to do anything to help our Maiden, then we do as I plan".
"I still say we do not do that," Qrow said. "Even if the kid can't help, we still can't make an enemy out of him".
"But we don't have any other option," Ozpin said. "This is the only way".
"Not it's not," Glynda said. "There are many other solutions. I don't want to sacrifice one of my students. It just isn't right".
"Then let's hope that Mr Arc can help us with our plight," Ozpin said. "We don't have much time left".
Qrow headed to Jaune's location a few minutes later and brought him to Ozpin. Once in Ozpin's office, Jaune sat down on the available seat. He looked around the office and saw Glynda and Qrow.
"So? Why did you bring me here for this time?" Jaune asked. "It can't be anything simple".
"It's not. But we are hoping that you can help us with our problem," Ozpin said. "Tell me, Mr Arc, Do you believe in fairy tales?".
"You do know that I'm capable of using magic, right?" Jaune said to Ozpin. "So, why the hell would you ask me that? Of course, I believe in them. I know the existence of the Maiden, so there is a high chance that the other stories are true as well".
"Ahem! That's good. This would be easier," Ozpin said. He then asked Jaune to follow him to the elevator. "I need your help because we don't have much choice. We are running out of time. The Fall Maiden's power was stolen, which is something unprecedented before. The thief couldn't steal the full power since Qrow intervened. However, she became comatose and hasn't woken up. But that's not the entire problem. Her health is degrading faster and faster each day. That's why I said we are running out of time".
"So, you need my help with the Maiden?" Jaune said. "What makes you think I have a way of helping?".
"We aren't sure if you could," Qrow said. "But it's better to ask than not because the other alternative we have isn't good".
"Alright, I'll see what I can do," Jaune said. "But I'm not promising anything since I haven't got a clue what's going on with the patient".
It took a minute to get to the vault where the incapacitated Fall Maiden resided. Immediately, Jaune took a look at the Fall Maiden. With the Mystic Arts, Jaune was able to see the fractured soul of the Fall Maiden.
When Cinder stole the Maiden's power, it forced it out of Amber's soul where it was residing. The process that Cinder used to steal the Maiden's power tried to steal the Maiden's power and absorb her soul.
Jaune remembered research from his family archive. An Arc tried to transfer his Aura to a Grimm, which made the Grimm try to absorb all of it. Doing this can cause a soul shock and fracture the soul. This is what happened to the Fall Maiden.
Looking at the Fall Maiden, Jaune was looking for a solution. Mystic Arts he learned from the Ancient One would be helpful, but it would take too long, and the Fall Maiden might die before he would be able to improve her health. However, a while back, Jaune received an item from the Gacha. It's one of his Mythical items.
(Elixir Nectar – Mythical) elixir mixed with godly blood that was imbued with the godly powers of the divine blade. It is powerful enough to repair fractured souls but tends to cause side effects.
"I have just the medicine to help her," Jaune said. Glynda and Qrow were glad that he had a solution. "However, the medicine tends to cause side-effects".
"What is the side effect?" Qrow said. "It can't be that she would be some kind of monster, right?".
"An item that turns someone into a monster isn't something I would call medicine," Jaune said. "What I have is something known as Elixir Nectar. It's something that can't be made easily, and I only have one. However, it has the power to heal and repair a fractured soul. The side-effect isn't too bad, but others might steer clear from it. You will lose 10 years of your life span if you take the elixir".
"Is that it?" Qrow said. "I thought it would be worst".
"So, do you want me to use it on her?" Jaune said. Ozpin nodded. "Alright then".
Jaune took out the (Elixir Nectar – Mythical) from his inventory and used it on the Fall Maiden. It didn't even take long before the Fall Maiden's health stabilised. A few more minutes and the scars around the Fall Maiden's face were gone. And another half hour, and the Fall Maiden is starting to show signs of waking up.
Jaune then inspected her soul to ensure that it was no longer fractured. Seeing that she was okay, Jaune told Ozpin and the others that he was leaving her in their care.
Glynda was really amazed at the things that Jaune was capable of accomplishing. It's nearly been a year since the ambush of the Fall Maiden, and their inner circle had no solution, not even the enigmatic Ozpin.
Jaune headed back to his dorm room to check on his teammates. It was time for the one on one finals, and Jaune wasn't going to miss it. Truth be told, Jaune knew that students from the other academies were no match for him. However, he was using the one-on-one fight as a warmup for the fight of his life.
The first one up was Yang Xiao Long and Sun Wukong. Both of them were people that mainly fought in close combat. Sun had a shotgun nunchucks, while Yang had a shotgun gauntlet.
The fight was intense, Sun can make clones, but it keeps him in place, while Yang's strength increases the more damage she takes. However, Yang has a powerful movement technique that allows her to outmanoeuvre Sun and knock him out.
The crowd cheered for Yang. As Yang and Sun left the arena, the next contestant was called up. They were unknown students from Atlas and Mistral. Their fight was slow, and they were more cunning than strong. The fight ended in a mutual knockout.
The next match was between Penny and a random unknown student. Boy was the unknown person battered and bruised. Penny didn't hold back and blasted him across the room.
The next match was between Jaune and Mercury Black. Mercury thought he could get something out of Jaune during the fight, but it was a mistake. Jaune sliced off his prosthetics clean off without mercy. People in the audience was shocked, but the moment they showed it on the camera, everyone realised that Mercury had a prosthetic.
Why did Jaune cut off his feet? Because he figured out it was a prosthetic from a single exchange with Mercury. And the fastest way to beat your opponent is to take away their weapon. It just turns out that Mercury's weapon is his prosthetic legs.
The singles were not as great as Jaune thought they would be, but at least he could get a bit of a warmup. At the end of the Vytal Festival, Jaune won the entire tournament, but it wasn't much of an achievement.
