Author's Note: This story is based on the results of the STRIS FAN FIC IDEA POLL, created by yours truly on June 11,2022. The Twitter poll was opened for 24hrs and it was meant to gather ideas as to what the fans wanted to read in the next fan fic on the SWAT couple. The results showed that: the preferred mood of the fic was full romance, the situation of the couple was canon, a character that ABSOLUTELY had to make an appearance was Uncle Sarzo or Aunt Helena, the plot had to include kissing and cuddling, the fic had to feature Street's bike, must be over 2k words, the plot had to focus on a real life issue and it had to end with a cute or sexy scene.
Well, here is my attempt at soothing their thirst for more Stris! Let me now if you think I achieved it! Comments and votes are always appreciated! Thanks for the support everyone!
BABE
Hola, amor! ? U off work tomorrow?
Hey, babe! ?
Yup, gonna relax and chill. Why?
Not anymore. Go with me to the rally tomorrow
Protesting what?
Roe vs Wade
idk
c'mon, Street ? it's important for me
It's been hectic at work
Fine?
Can't the ladies in the safe house go with you?
I'm not in a relationship with them...?
?
C'mon, Chris! Don't get like that...I don't wanna get involved
Y ?
Idk if it's my place?¬タヘ ️
y is that? coz u think it's a chick thing? ?
I didn't say that, and relax. I dont wanna argue
Takes 2 to argue?
You pissed?
Ok, I'm sorry ?
Chris? ?
Bae?
Yup, she is pissed. The blue check marks might just mean a bad time to ask her out for dinner, right? Man, she can get so hyped up over the smallest thing. Geez! I don't now much about the topic, anyway. I mean, yeah the issue is real, but c'mon! The whole thing about controlling women's rights, their bodies, has been going on forever. A march isn't gonna do anything. Besides, government is always coming up with bogus laws and stuff, they'll probably counteract with something in the near future. So, what's the big deal? Nothing for me to do there, anyway. I don't know. I'll get her some food after the shift. Food always helps!
"Alright, y'all. Have a good one!" Hondo said as he left the locker room. The team had just finished the paperwork on their case, one which they had been following for weeks. Finally, they could close the case and move on!
"Yo, Street. You doing anything tomorrow? Me and a couple of buddies are going to play some paintball at the new spot. One of the guys came down with Covid, so we need a player, what do you say, bud?" Luca said approaching Jim, who was still changing clothes.
"Sounds great." he paused, "Chris wanted to do something, but I'm hoping she can get somebody else to go with her. What time I gotta be there?"
"Around 9." Luca answered slowly, frowning at him
"You sure about skipping Chris? She ok with it?" Tan interrupted, curious. He had been quiet all along, eyes glued to his phone.
Street frowned surprised, as he grinned. "What are you saying, Tan? I can't do anything if it's not with her? C'mon, bro!" Street finished annoyed, rolling his eyes.
"Nah, I just...wanna make sure she knows you dissing her." Tan quickly answered glancing at Luca
"I'm not dissing anybody. It's just that she wants to go to the rally downtown, but... I feel like it's a ladies' thing. You know?"
"Oh my God!" Luca said shaking his head, not believing what Street was saying
"Please tell me you did NOT say that to her!" Tan immediately added
"I mean, yeah...so?"
"Awww, man!" both men said in a chorus, as they shook their heads, and hung them low.
"That's it." Tan said
"She's pissed for sure! What the hell were you thinking, bro?" Luca said grabbing his forehead, shaking his head
"What?" Street looked so confused he froze for a moment
"C'mon, man! Roe vs Wade isn't a girl's thing, bro. It affects all of our community coz it takes away many reproduction rights from women, but it also creates problems to many sectors of our community by limiting opportunities to grow and have choices. We might as well go back to the 1900s!" Tan said slamming his locker door shut.
"I think you owe our girl an apology, bro. Can't talk like that about something so serious!"
"Ok, ok." said Street showing a gesture of surrender by placing both hands up
Luca shook his head in disappointment. "Let me know what happens."
He made his way down to the parking lot, still thinking about what the guys said. He kept thinking that it wasn't a big deal, but maybe they were right. He needed to research on the issue before opening his mouth again, especially with Chris...or maybe have her explain it to him. Would be nice to hear her side of the story. Hopefully she was in a better mood!
BABE
Will Chinese take out fix what ur dumb bf said this morning? ?
Love u, babe?
He's dumb, alright! ?
And no, I already ate.
I'm sorry?
Sorry doesn't work every time you screw up, Jim
This thing's really gonna limit our society...not just women!
Can we talk? Please? ゚リレ
Fine?
He sighed for he knew what awaited him: a long night. The next morning...
"Good morning, Helena. How are you?" Jim said cheerfully, as Aunt Helena answered the door with a smile.
"Hola, (Hello) Jim! I'm very well and you?" she said giving him a quick hug.
"Chris! Your boyfriend's here!" yelled Cecilia, the new girl.
Chris appeared from the living room, sporting some jeans and a white shirt under a familiar looking plaid shirt. She wore her favorite pair of Converse with multi colored socks.
"Hey! I'm here!" he said cheerily, arms wide open.
"Good, coz she might've dump your silly butt!" replied another one of the females. A round of giggles and laughter followed, including Chris herself, who shot him a menacing look. Street just shook his head and joined in. He figured: if I can't beat em, I'll join em.
"Alright, alright." said Chris after some seconds, calming the crowd. She opened the fridge, retrieved her water can and placed it inside of her back pack. She swung it over her shoulder, and approached her aunt, who was cooking eggs on the stove.
"Tití, (aunty) I'm gonna go. Call me if anything happens with the girls, ok?" she said resting against the side of the counter, staring at the old lady
"Of course. Don't you worry about the house. Go and fight those monsters in City Hall!"
Chris went to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Bendiciones, (blessings) tía. Thank you!"
*Blessings is a Latin tradition in which the young ask the elders in the family for blessings*
"Your welcome, amor! (my love)" the old lady responded, as Chris went towards the door. Street had taken a step back and was holding it open for her.
As she was approaching, he leaned over and whispered "What about me? Can I get a kiss?" he said with a full dimpley grin. She didn't even look at him, just went through the doorway.
Ouch! His smile quickly faded, as he stared at the door frame, absolutely stunned at her indifference. Everyone in the kitchen and the adjoining room froze, feeling sorry for the officer. A thermometer might've reported a sudden shift from California weather to the coldest tundra in the Arctics!
His stun only lasted two seconds as she quickly turned around, grabbed his fallen jaw and closed his mouth with a quick kiss on the lips. "Let's go, dummy!"
That's fair! At least she didn't leave me hanging, I guess. She's so damn cold...and I absolutely love it! She's so hot when she's pissed. I'm definitely getting some tonight!
They rode in silence taking in the gorgeous morning sunshine. When they approached the gathering area, Chris broke the silence.
"Can we make a stop? I need to buy munchies." she said from under the helmet, as they had made a stop at Crenshaw Avenue and 37th street. Street nodded towards a small convenience store just down the block, and as soon as the light turned green sped towards it. They continued chatting as he lined up and parked in front of the store.
"Everything good in the safe house?" he asked removing his helmet. Both stepped down.
"Yeah, but money's kinda tight. Been thinking bout getting a side gig, you know? Just til things settle down." she answered removing her helmet and stretching
"Oh, like what?" he asked opening the door to the store. She went in and they both greeted the man behind the counter.
"I don't know. Haven't given it enough thought I guess." she paused, as a group of young ladies came in. It was obvious they were going to the rally as many came in with folded posters, sporting TShirts that read Our body, Our choice and camel backs and back packs.
"Morning, where can we spot energy drinks?" one of them asked loudly.
"In the back, left side of the fridge" answered the man with a thick Indian accent
"Thanks!" many of them replied
Meanwhile, Street and Chris grabbed sports drinks and chips. Chris made sure to get some gum, beef jerky and a couple granola bars. The couple made their way to the counter, as the group of ladies remained in the back of the store still deciding the drinks they wanted.
They stepped behind an old man and two kids, boy and a girl, looked so adorable! They wanted to help the older gentlemen but carrying a gallon of milk and three bag of chips with two juice boxes was definitely a challenge for them.
"Grampa, help me" requested the little girl. She was probably five or six, and the younger boy was maybe three or four years old.
"Alright, honey!" the old man said with a smirk.
The man in the counter leaned over to take a look, and immediately reached for something under the counter. He went around and handed a lollipop to each child, as both kids got excited.
"Uuuuhhhh" "Yay!" they said
"Cute" Chris said with a smirk as she noticed the scene in front of her. Street nodded grinning as well.
As the worker returned to his post, Street noticed movement outside of the store. More people with signs and lively colored outfits continued on but a group of 4 suddenly stopped and turned towards the street as a car had slowed down in front of the store.
Both windows, front and back were lowered and men began shouting at the group. Street and Chris immediately shifted their attention to the confrontation happening outside. In a matter of seconds, the argument turned into screams, taunts, cussing and plain out conflict, as the group on foot approached the vehicle.
"Uh oh!" Street said under his breath. Chris swiftly placed the items on the counter and made her way to the door. Street immediately followed, repeating her actions.
In a matter of second all four car doors swung opened violently as five men stepped out. The group in the sidewalk continued to shout and scream, not backing down one inch.
"It's gonna get ugly!" Street said as he and Chris hurried outside
"YOU WOMEN SHOULD STOP SPENDING SO MUCH DAMN TIME MARCHING AND STAY IN THE F*CKING KITCHEN WHERE YOU BELONG!" yelled the driver
"WHAT THE HELL? ARE YOU STILL IN THE MIDDLE AGES OR WHAT?" responded one of the protesters
"Hey! Hey!" called Chris, stepping in the middle of the groups. They continued to shout, so she raised her hands and yelled, "STOP!"
Street lined up next to her, facing the men in the car. "LAPD! They have a right to protest, guys. So...move along."
"Yeah and if you don't like it, you can stay home." Chris added annoyed
"You better check your woman." said one of the guys frowning at Chris
"Uuuuuhhhh" was heard from the group of protesters as another round of arguing and cussing followed. The scene was becoming dangerous, as the men flexed their muscles and took steps forward, towards the couple in the middle.
"You *****!"
"Shut up, ****!"
"***"
The problem now was that two of the gals in the group of protesters made their way around Street, towards the man who was shouting the most. The bearded fellow didn't back down, even when outnumbered. Street put his hands out to stop the man from taking steps towards them, but the ladies keep pushing forward. Chris also had issues containing the rest of the group, who featured two young men that were clearly a couple, for they continued to scream while holding hands.
"ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS KEEP YOUR LEGS SHUT!" yelled the bearded man, clapping his hands together violently, just one feet away from the faces of the angry ladies
He only clapped twice because as his hands were to come in contact for a third time, one of the ladies took a swing at him...and that's when all hell broke lose!
Street stood frozen as he noticed the man jumped on the lady who went after him, while the other lady grabbed him from behind. He then turned his head and noticed Chris had pushed one of the men back into the car as one the guys of the young couple was bent over, covering part of his face. Everything went so fast, that even Street's bike got caught up in the kerfuffle!
"STOOOOP!" Street yelled off the top of his lungs. Everybody froze!
"You, you, you, you and you!" he said pointing at each of the men, "Get your asses in the car before I lock you up for disorderly conduct and aggravated assault!" he said, as he grabbed his badge and showed it to everyone.
The men stared at him as they slowly made their way back to the car. The young man straightened up, as did the ladies in the side. Chris helped them put Street's bike up again, as the car sped off.
Even though they had just been assaulted, the group was fired up! They thanked them, and moved on cheering and shouting "WHAT DO WE WANT? EQUALITY, WHEN DO WE WANT IT? NOW!"
Street sighed and Chris straightened up. In the mist of the shuffle, she almost lost her shirt, as the ladies pulled it back.
"Hey!" Street called, "I get it."
"Huh?" Chris said frowning, lost
"You're right. This issue is much more than just women's rights...and, I'm sorry. Just yesterday I sounded just like those guys, and to tell you the truth, it sucks."
"It's ok, Jim." she said going into the store
"No, it's not." he said grabbing her hand. He pulled her close, and looked into her eyes, "I'm truly sorry. I don't wanna be like them."
"Then, don't be!"
He nodded understanding now the full impact of the issue at hand. For years he only thought of women as hookups and a good time, never really serious until he met Chris. To see someone be recognized as a force, breaking records and actually being respected like she was by most in SWAT, opened his eyes that women were much more than 'just for fun'.
"Hey!" she said, "I don't blame you at all. That's how society trains you. It takes time to break those barriers and ideologies and discrimination, but we gotta start somewhere. Listen," she said turning her body towards him and grabbing his other hand,"Street, we don't march because we want to scream and yell. We rally because we want everybody to get the same respect in our society, by the leaders of our country. It's not about who gets respected more, it's about everyone getting equal importance and opportunities. Doesn't matter the gender, sexual orientation, religion, or whatever."
He nodded softly as he listened attentively. He grinned, full on dimple action as always, "I understand. I love you."
"I love you too, dummy!"
They shared a quick kiss, then a long hug. They slowly separated, but stayed holding hands. They went towards the counter, but were stunned when they couldn't find their stuff. Chris remembered putting everything there before stepping outside.
"Here!" the man behind the counter said, as he handed them a plastic bag with the same contents they had left on the counter.
"What's this?" Street asked as Chris looked around the counter
"Where's our stuff?" she asked
"Ladies paid it off." the man answered.
The couple looked at each other puzzled. They let go of their hands and turned around looking for the group that had come in with them.
"They're gone." Chris announced
"Here!" the man behind them said handing them a napkin taken from the hot dog station down the counter. Chris stretched her hand and grabbed it.
"Thank you officers for standing up for equality, everywhere. Good thing police is on our side!" Chris read out loud. The couple felt proud as they thanked the man behind the counter and exited the store quietly, holding hands.
"So," Street began as he held on to the door and waited for Chris to pass, "are we good now?"
She suddenly turned around and stood facing him defiantly with the angriest frown she could muster.
GASP
Aw, man! Did I just screw up again?
"Not at all" she said angrily. They were now standing next to the bike, as even the sun hid behind the clouds.
Street swallowed hard. She then shoved the bag of munchies up to his chest, moving him slightly back, "Coz you know what?"
He shook his head slowly, quietly. Not daring to open his mouth!
"I expect a nice dinner...-"
"Yes, ma'am" he said with a slight grin. Breathing now.
"chocolate better be in the dessert.."
"Yes, ma'am." he repeated, same attached reactions.
"And I better end up the day sweaty and panting!"
"YES!" he said raising his free hand up in a fist, overly excited.
"Idiot!" she said under her breath as she giggled.
Street placed the bag in the compartment, then grabbed his lady and they kissed slowly. He moved his hand up to her head as he held her tight with other hand. Suddenly...
PHHHEEEEEWWW PHHHHHEEEEWWWW
HOOONK HOOONK
The sound of whistles coming from a car filled with teenagers startled them, as laughter and noise was followed. They were six, crammed up in a small sedan. Four girls and two boys, maybe 16-17 years of age. Music blasting, posters, flags and others sticking out, and the wheels getting lower because of the weight.
"GET A ROOM!"
"TONIGHT YOU SCORE, DUDE!"
"HE'S HOT, GURL!"
"LUCKY GURL!"
"WOO HOOOO"
The young couple just shook their heads and continue to kiss, as the teenagers became louder and louder. Finally, the light turned green and the car rolled along.
Chris pulled back slowly, as both began giggling softly thinking about the spectacle they just made for the young crowd. Forget about PDA, that was an all out Hollywood movie scene!
He grabbed on to her hand, as they got close again, foreheads touching.
"Luv ya!" he said with a smile, dimples at full force!
"Luv you too, dummy!"
She giggled as he froze. She planted a short kiss and he stood pondering. "That's not my new pet name is it?"
"I like it." she said kissing him softly in the lips.
"Do I have a saying in it?" he asked when she pulled back.
"Nope" she answered raising an eyebrow, planting another kiss.
"Aw, man!" he said as they moved towards the bike. He handed her the helmet.
"You know? We should do this couples fight thing more often." he said grinning
She frowned, as she replied "Wanna go back to dating apps and married chicks, Long Beach?"
"Uhhhh" he stuttered, as she tilted her head back and placed the helmet on. "Nevermind"
"Yeah, thought so." she said nodding under the helmet.
He placed his helmet on quietly, and hopped on. She immediately followed him and he turned on the engine. He felt her tuck on his jacket, as he turned sideways trying to avoid the sun, which had just come out shinning brightly.
"This time, go fast!" She said with a devilish grin, one eyebrow raised
"Really?"
"How fast can this thing go?" Chris asked innocently. He took one hand off the accelerator and turned sideways towards her.
"You mean the driver or the bike?" now Street was sporting the devilish front
"How bout the bike now and the driver later?" she answered rubbing her helmet against his
"Yes, ma'am!"
...and so, they rode off! Into the beautiful sunshine!
