"Hey Chris! Welcome" he said cheerfully, as he opened the door.

"Hey hon-"she said stopping midway through the sentence. She was stunned! The living room was colorfully decorated and the smells coming from the kitchen were oddly too familiar to her. "What's going on?" she asked turning towards Street who was sporting a wide grin.

"I thought we could do something special for our monthiservary!" Mr. Dimples announced spreading his arms to gesture everything he had done

"Our what? What'd you do?" she was smiling now, loving his emotion

"Well...amor! I have something very special for you on the night we celebrate one full month together...one month since we became a thing!"

"A thing?"

"Exactly!" he said as he approached her and grabbed her cheeks, pulling her close to his lips. They kissed softly for a minute, until she softly pulled away.

"Does it involve a repeat of how the action started?" she giggled, "Coz I think this was it." she finished by throwing herself towards his body and wrapping her arms around his neck. The kissed passionately, until...

PIIING

The oven sounded to announce the meal was ready. The couple froze for a second, while giggling and rubbing their noses and foreheads. Street held on to Chris, as they continued to kiss in the middle of the entry way.

Some seconds later, Chris pulled away slowly again, but this time held her nose up towards the kitchen.

"What is that smell? Got me hooked!" she said still holding his hand

"Well," Street paused, as he led her towards the dinning table. It was beautifully decorated with all bright colors, resembling a Mexican feast. Plates, napkins, and even strings to tie the cutlery were of vibrant colors, yellow, red, orange, green and violet. "we are having dinner. I thought it be cool if we celebrate by feasting on your childhood favorite dishes!"

"What?" she asked smiling. Now she knew Street had something up his sleeve!

"Yes, mi amor. Luca and I met with your cousin Thomas to play some hoops and I won the bet. I beat him in a shoot out so he had to tell me your favorite dishes and games while growing up. So..." Street let go of her hand and took out a small piƱata in the form of a small donkey, from the back side of the dining area. "He told me as a little girl you enjoyed beating up on this stuff, so...I got some gloves ready!" Chris was giggling at this point, arms crossed, head shaking slowly.

"And, wait!" he said as he slid over to the kitchen and opened the oven to reveal a delicious smelling beef shank. It sat bathed in a brownish sauce, lying on top of a bed of vegetables. He placed the large skillet in the middle of the table, as Chris savored the meal and inhaled the mouthwatering aroma with delight."Carne Birria...with... wait!" Street called as he quickly went over the rice cooker and retrieved the pot of freshly made white rice. She laughed softly. "arroz blanco, and..." he placed the pot next to the beef and once again returned to the kitchen, where he opened the microwave and retrieved a plate with a bed of warm tortillas. "tortillas caliente." he smiled as he placed it to the opposite of the rice. "Surprise!"

"Wow! You did all that? Smells delicious!"

"A comer!"

Chris stops again and frowns at Street. "A comer?" she asks him, giggling

"Si, mi amor!" he answered proudly still grinning

"You are so cute!" she said giggling

"Te ves hermosa!" he says as he retrieved a bouquet of Dahlias and handed it to her. Chris opened her mouth wide, receiving the flowers with delight. She used to love Dahlias because both her mom and Aunt Helena always adorned their house with them. The purple flower wasn't just a Mexican staple, it was the most beautiful memory she cherished of living with her mom. She immediately took a whiff of the petals and it transported her back to her toddler and early childhood days, walking home from school.

"Gracias!" she said softly, as she approached him and gave him a soft kiss

"De nada!" he whispered to her when she pulled away

"I gotta say, Street, I'm impressed!"

"Wait, not done yet!" he said cheerfully

"What?" she asked surprised, as she placed the flowers on an empty vase at the end of the table.

"Para ti, mi amor" he announced as he opened the refrigerator and took out a small cake platter. "Flan de... vanilla."

Chris laughed as his attempt at pronouncing the last word failed miserably. She approached him, and staring into his eyes said "Vainilla, mi amor!"

"Sorry!"

"Don't be...you sound sexier in Spanish!" she said lifting an eyebrow, grabbing his arm

"Hmmm...is that so? I guess that cellphone app really paid off!" he said with a wide grin, as she pulled him closer

After rounds of kisses, they finally sat down and enjoyed the meal. As expected, there were many leftovers, which Street packed up nicely for her to take to the house and share with the ladies. Unfortunately, Luca had spotted the flan this morning before taking off and requested a huge piece, so...Street couldn't really give much away. After all, Street had been helping Chris a lot economically, until she could settle down, and wasn't going to be able to cover his share of the rent that month. Luca didn't fuss or anything, but Street didn't feel good taking care of his generosity, so he promised all leftovers of the sweet dessert would be for him.

Right after clean up, they went to the living room. He sat down putting his arm around her, as she stared at the stuffed donkey.

"This is so cool. Brings back lots of memories, specially of me fighting my cousins for candy!" she said giggling

"Yeah, Thomas said you were pretty fierce!"

"I was...still am!" she said turning to look at him. "Hey, you what?" she said as she placed the donkey down and went for her small backpack, which laid right next to them in the sofa, "I didn't prepare a fancy dinner, or learned a new language, but...I didn't forget!"

Street was surprised. He sat up and turned towards her as she dug into her bag. She took out a necklace with a heart pendant. "This" she began, placing her bag away, holding the necklace closer to Street "is my heart. It represents everything I'm passionate about, everything dearest to me. It represents every beat that keeps me going every day, the energy that feeds my soul."

Street stared at the necklace, and appreciate the poetry she recited.

She moved the necklace so as to end up with the pendant up. Their faces came closer to it, as it now stood inches from each lover. She placed one thumb on one side and the other thumb on the other side, as the pendant snapped in half.

"I want you to have it and remember that everywhere you go, everything you do, you have half of my heart with you." she closed her hand with the necklace and grabbed his left hand. "Jim, no one can live with just one half of the heart. So, you have to cherish it as much as I cherish you." she placed the necklace in his hand and closed his fist. "Take good care of it, because no matter where we are, we will have each other's halves."

"That's beautiful, Chris. I will never lose your heart, as I know you wont ever lose mine."

They kissed and she placed the necklace on his neck, as he helped her add the pendant to her necklace. It was the sweetest gift anyone had ever given him, and he made himself promise to not lose it. Ever.

The morning came. There was some intense energy left over from the previous night as they doubled the doses of that faithful night a month ago, so... a shower was very needed. Chris turned on the faucet, but was startled when she felt Street's hand going up her back. She felt a tingling sensation as she turned and they began kissing. Their 'collective bath' included multiple rounds of kisses and... other actions, of course!

The environment in SWAT Headquarters was a pacific one, as no mission was announced at the beginning of shift. Hicks instructed tactic trainings and workouts for everyone in 20 Squad. So, each member received their assignments from Hondo and Deacon, and headed towards the training facilities.

By late afternoon, the whole squad was done with all the routines and were headed back to shower and clock out. After a quick meeting with Hicks, they were excused to close out their day. As the men gathered their belongings and headed towards the showers, Street felt his cellphone vibrating.

BBZZZZT

BZZZTTT

Man, what timing! Geez! He thought as had just undressed and was closing the curtains of the small shower. He smiled when he saw the screen.

"Babe, I swear to God you're watching me on a secret camera somewhere!" he said with a smirk. He connected the earplugs, and carefully stepped into the shower, making sure to avoid water reaching his ears.

"Hey! Why do you say that?" Chris asked surprised

"Coz I just got in the shower!" he said grinning

"Uff! Is that an invitation?"

"I wish! Now I really miss having you in SWAT, for sure!"

"You know it would've never happened there! You freak!" she said giggling

"I mean...we could've worked it out!" he said letting out a laugh. Then quickly stopped himself, as he remembered the other guys were nearby and could easily hear him.

"You're crazy!"

They both giggled.

"So..." Chris began, "no one noticed the necklace?"

GASP!

Street panicked as he touched his bare neck. He didn't have it! Oh no! With eyes wide opened, jaw to the floor, he held his breath!

"Jim?"

"Uh...nope! They didn't notice. I...uh..."he stuttered as he feared the worst,"kept it under my uni all day. You know, close to my heart, babe. Coz you know, I love you."

"Aww...that's cute. Love you too." she paused, "Well, I'll let you be. Remember you promised to swing by the house to finish setting up the study room for the ladies."

"Yeah, yeah...wouldn't miss it for the world" F*ck! What the hell am I gonna do?

He finished in a flash, as he hurried over to get dressed. He decided it was best to just retrace his steps and check every place he'd been during the day. Maybe in a sudden movement he tilted his head and the necklace fell off, or something. Whatever he needed to do... but he could not possibly show up in the safe house without that thing around his neck!

Two full hours went by and Street was still chasing after the necklace. He checked in the locker, the tactic training facility, the car, the track, the boxing ring, everywhere... nothing! He asked each of his teammates but they had not seeing it. He went by each sink in the bathroom, the sink in the kitchen, the garbage cans in the entire floor...nothing! He even went to the dumpsters and checked the bags of trash. Nothing! He couldn't believe he had lost the one thing dearest to him. What a doofus!

"Yo, Street! How are thing going Romeo?" Luca called with a smirk approaching him. He suddenly stopped and covered his nose, still smiling."Uff, man! Why do you smell like garbage?"

Street had just finished ravaging through the dumpsters for the second time, and was walking back to the main building for a quick shower.

"Luca, man! I don't know what to do. Bro, I'm freaking out" he said desperately

"Wait, what happened?" Luca said frowning

"Man, I...oh my God! Yesterday, Chris gave me a necklace with a bunch of sentimental value and I can't find it anywhere. I checked every possible place, even retraced my steps. Nothing. I'm supposed to meet with her in an hour and I don't know what to do."

"So... just go to the store and buy a new one."

Eureka!

Street froze as a big smile spread across his face, "Oh my God! Luca, you're a genius!" he said excitingly, as Luca frowned. He ran towards his bike, placed the helmet on and turned on the engine. "Thanks, bro!" he yelled as he sped away

Luca waved good bye. "Dude better not mess it up with Chris!"

Ninety minutes later...

"Hey amor! How are you?" Chris said opening the door.

"Hey babe!" Street greeted as he took a step forward and planted a kiss.

"How was work?" she said turning towards the kitchen

"Aw, you know? The usual. Training and stuff. How was your day?" he said closing the door behind him.

He stepped into the kitchen and admired her. She was wearing one of his shirts over shorts and black flip flops. She turned towards him and suddenly stopped.

"I thought you said you were hiding the necklace under your uniform."

"I was, but I'm not at work anymore." he said sitting down in one of the chairs next to the small dining table, pulling on the necklace for her to see.

"So...you wore it under your shirt all day?" she asked turning to stir something over the stove

Street laid back in the chair, still grabbing his necklace, feeling very confident with his purchased.

"Yeah" he said as she turned to look at Mr. Dimples

"Oh...and it didn't bother you at all?"

"No, of course not. Why would it? A piece of my dream girl's heart will never be a burden for me!" he said as he got up from the chair and approached her, wrapping his arms around her waste, pulling her closer to him. She turned to face him, as he lowered his head and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

She then pulled away, and grabbed the necklace that hung front his neck, and smiled. "You actually wore it, huh?"

"I will always have your heart, remember?" he whispered, coming closer and closer to her face. They kissed once again.

He grabbed her head and they kissed passionately. What Street didn't realize was that Chris had swiftly dug her hand into one of her pants pockets. She then pulled away slowly from his grasps and opened her hand to reveal a hanging necklace.

"You left it in the sink this morning...honey!" she said smiling

Uh oh!
