Jaune hasn't a clue how this happened. When they arrived in Uruk, Jaune wanted to separate from Ritsuka and the others to explore Uruk for himself. However, Merlin insisted on Jaune following him to meet the king. It took a while, but Jaune relented.
Next, King Gilgamesh said he wanted to test the last master of humanity, Ritsuka, but Gilgamesh had his eye on Jaune for some reason. Something about not being able to see a future with his existence. So, the king wanted to have a battle with Jaune.
"Ana, sorry, but would you give Jaune a hand?" Merlin said. "I have a feeling that he would be an important person in the coming fights".
Scáthach then appeared from the shadows.
"You don't have to bother with Jaune," Scáthach said. "He isn't like the final master of humanity that he needs a servant to protect him. If that was the case, then I never would have acknowledged him as my husband. Just stay where you are and watch".
"You seem to have a lot of faith in him," Merlin said. "What exactly is he? My clairvoyance isn't working on him".
"Simple answer to that is because he is Jaune," Scáthach said. "As for why I believe he can protect himself, that's because he was able to take me down".
"Oh? That's quite impressive," Merlin said. "To beat the undying God-Slayer when he is but a human".
"Ha-ha-ha-ha! You have no idea what Jaune is truly capable of," Scáthach said. "When he fought and defeated me, he did so using my own speciality, a spear. However, if he was serious and used his magic, then he would have annihilated me".
"As I thought, he is well versed in magecraft," Merlin said. "I saw it when we were with Enkidu. He felt me use my spell and went along with it".
"Magecraft? No, Jaune uses True Magic," Scáthach said. "Jaune isn't a magus, but a magician. And unlike other magicians who only has a specified ability, Jaune has countless".
"Oh! That's quite intriguing," Merlin said. "Well, I'll be able to see what he's capable of here and now".
Gilgamesh and Jaune were squaring off. They were looking at each other. Gilgamesh opened a few portals, staves then appeared from it. Magic then gathered around the staves, and it fired at Jaune with three consecutive attacks. Jaune saw this. He then took out Gáe Bolg and fired an energy bean that split into three to counter the attack of Gilgamesh.
Jaune then used Shundō to appear in front of Gilgamesh, he swept his spear. It was blocked by a few swords of Gilgamesh that came from portals. But Jaune didn't stop his assault. He continued attacking.
Eventually, Gilgamesh retreated a few feet and opened a dozen portals and fired its weapons towards Jaune. This was countered by Jaune using the Eldritch portal, and he sent the weapons back to Gilgamesh. This angered Gilgamesh since its humiliating to be attacked by your own weapons.
While Gilgamesh was distracted by his own weapons, Jaune fired a fireball spell. However, the fireball spell wasn't normal. The speed of its travel was as fast as lightning. Unfortunately, Gilgamesh was able to notice the fireball and was then blocked.
The fight between Jaune and Gilgamesh continued. Gilgamesh was unhappy that his ability to hurl weapons at his opponent was ineffective since his opponent was able to counter it with a portal of his own and make use of the fired weapon to attack him instead.
During the entire fight, Jaune wasn't in the least bit serious as he knew that the person he was fighting was not serious. So, he only used a limited amount of what he was capable of.
After a few more minutes of fighting, the throne room was severely damaged, and the fight ended. Gilgamesh laughed and called Jaune by his name and asked him if he could help exterminate the demonic beast by the walls. Jaune agreed, and Gilgamesh brought his attention to Ritsuka and the others.
The fight with Ritsuka, Mash and Ana disappointed Gilgamesh.
"A waste of time," Gilgamesh said. "I want nothing to do with you. Begone!".
"Your majesty," Siduri called. "Are they the strangers you spoke of?".
"Merlin brought them here," Gilgamesh said. "So, yes, they probably are. However, Jaune isn't. I can't even see his existence with my clairvoyance".
"King Gilgamesh!" Ritsuka shouted. "Can we get at least a word with you?".
"There's no need for that!" Gilgamesh said. "Know that I am capable of all things, and so, possess all knowledge. I'm already aware of what you over at Chaldea are about. The only thing I can't seem to know or understand is Jaune Arc".
"T-Then!" Ritsuka said. "That's all the more reason to hear us out! If we don't retrieve the Holy Grail from this era, humanity will be destroyed! So! As fast as possible…".
Ritsuka was interrupted from his speech when Gilgamesh took out a golden chalice within his portal.
"The Grail…" Ritsuka said in shock.
"What's wrong?" Gilgamesh said. "You're after the Grail, aren't you? And?".
"Is that the Holy Grail?" Mash said. Shocked, just like Ritsuka. "B-But how?!".
Jaune watched the interaction of Ritsuka with Gilgamesh. He wasn't surprised at the attitude of the king. After all, he was a king. After a short conversation, something Ritsuka said made Gilgamesh laugh.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha! Defeat them?" Gilgamesh continued laughing. "You'll defeat those goddesses? Siduri, these fools may make me laugh myself to death! Ha-ha-ha-ha! Wow, that was a good one".
"I must protect Uruk at all cost," Gilgamesh said. "I don't need help from Chaldea!".
"What?!" Ritsuka said. "But how come you allowed Jaune to help?!".
"That's because he was able to prove his worth," Gilgamesh said. "You, on the other hand, were a disappointment. Jaune was able to show me what he's capable of, while you showed nothing of value".
While Gilgamesh was speaking, a guard arrived in the throne room and interrupted the meeting.
"Forgive me, my king," the guard said. "For I interrupted your pleasant chat".
"Does this look like a pleasant chat to you?" Gilgamesh said. "Are you blind?".
"Oh, uh…" the guard said. "We just heard your laughter echoing throughout the ziggurat".
"Fool!" Gilgamesh shouted. "Don't you know that, at a certain age, one can laugh at the drop of a hat? No matter. What is it?".
"Yes, sir!" the guard said. "She's heading for Uruk at high speed! It's one of the Three Goddess Alliance members…Goddess Ishtar".
Jaune wanted to leave the place, but he had no room to leave. Then, Jaune realised he could just open a portal beneath his feet, and he would be out of there. So, he did just that.
"Things were getting intense in the room," Jaune said. "This world is quite surprising; it has people with many different abilities that are quite powerful".
"By the way, Jaune," Scáthach said. "Why were you watching the golden gates do intensely?".
"I want to create an imitation of it," Jaune said. "As you know, with my Eldritch magic, I can produce different types of weapons from swords, spears, halberd, etc. I thought maybe I could recreate the way he hurls his weapon at his enemy. I find it quite cool".
"Well, you do you," Scáthach said. "So, what are we going to do now?".
"How about we go on a date?" Jaune said. "Let's look around Uruk while we enjoy ourselves. This is the era of Gods. Maybe we can find something to do. Plus, I want to purchase some seeds for me to plant in the house back in Remnant, and there are a lot of rare flowers in here that can't be found on Remnant".
"If anything," Scáthach said. "I thought you might be interested in this era's blacksmithing. It's quite different from the modern times like in Remnant".
"That's not a bad idea," Jaune said. "But that's a me thing, I want to do something that we can both enjoy. Maybe we can head to the front line and exterminate demonic beasts, but we need permission for us to do that".
Jaune and Scáthach enjoyed exploring around Uruk. It was then that Jaune remembered he had no currency of this word. So, Scáthach advised Jaune to sell some of his ingots for money.
Jaune's ingots were of the highest purity. The blacksmiths were interested in buying it, so they bid on the price they would pay per ingot. From this, Jaune was able to get a lot of money.
At the end of the day, Jaune and Scáthach were in a restaurant or pub. They sat down and ordered some food. Not long later, Ritsuka and his group arrived. They sat down and started conversing.
Jaune and Scáthach ignored them and started eating their food. Jaune then paired the food he was eating with a bottle of wine that he brewed himself. They enjoyed their dinner and were about to leave when Merlin decided to pull Jaune and Scáthach into a seat beside him and told Jaune to enjoy himself more and have a drink of wine.
