The Waverider has landed on the coast of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The year is 2021. Co-Captains and partners Sara Lance and Ava Sharpe are donning beachwear with luggage in tow. They are departing for a long-overdue vacation for two after an extensive mission. They join the crew in the bridge: Gideon, a human-AI hybrid who pilots the ship; totem-welding siblings Zari and Behrad Tarazi; full-fledged sorceress Astra Logue; Gary Green, an extraterrestrial living as a human who also possesses an expertise in magic; survivalist empath Esperanza "Spooner" Cruz; & chrono-kinetic inventor and strategist Dr. Gwyn Davies, who has reunited with his companion, Alun Thomas. Sara asserted, "So, we decided to place Gideon in charge for the next couple of weeks. Gwyn, since Alun is on the ship, you make sure to keep an eye on him."

"I'll do my best," he assured.

"Now, before we go," Ava added, "we want to establish some ground rules." Holding a stack of laminated paper, she passes one to each member. Each sheet has a list with six points.

Astra reads, "Rules for Operating the Waverider while Co-Captains are Gone. Rule #1: You are not permitted to steal any objects from the timeline without permission."

Behrad recited, "Rule #2: If you plan to visit any era, make sure the Waverider is cloaked."

Spooner reads the next. "Rule #3: Do a maintenance check on ALL areas of the ship."

Gwyn continued, "Rule #4: You are allowed to use the time couriers and the jump ship for emergencies ONLY."

Zari reads, "Rule #5: You are allowed to access the pocket dimension."

Gary reads the last one. "Rule #6: DO NOT cause any rifts to the timeline or get the ship severely damaged." They all glanced up at them.

Gideon spoke up. "Does this last rule have anything to do with when Blackbeard bombed it in 1717 during your first date?"

Gwyn is confused, inquiring, "Who's this Blackbeard fellow?"

Ava answered, "We'll talk about that when we get back. Also, make sure to meet us here at this time in two weeks."

Zari checks her cell phone for the time. "It's 8:44am."

Sara reaffirmed, "All right. Be back here in two weeks at 8:44am. One more thing, our comms will be off, so do not call in until it's important. Gideon, you call in if that is the case." After they exchanged their farewells, she and Ava depart the bridge for the cargo bay.

"Do you think this is a good idea," Ava asked as Sara opens the door hatch.

"What do you mean?"

"This vacation. If we are going to spend the whole time worrying about them, maybe we should not go."

"No, we can't continue treating them like they are rookies. Besides, they can take care of themselves. Remember Chernobyl?"

"Of course, I remember. Nate was there and Zari too." Dr. Nathaniel Heywood was an active member of the Legends until the WWI mission. He is in a serious relationship with Zari. Contrary to what you're thinking, there are two Zari's. The one Ava is referring to is Zari Tomaz, who resides in the air totem since she and Tarazi cannot co-exist within the timeline. Doing so would fatally endanger Behrad's life. After he rescued Alun and an exposure to mustard gas has stripped him of his steel powers, Nate has retired from the team and is reunited with Tomaz. "Anyway, creating that list was your idea."

"To be fair, you agreed to it."

"Well, I'm inclined to structure. Not to say, it suits you very nicely." Ava playfully bumps Sara to the side.

"We have been overworked themselves and the team. Since no time aberrations have surfaced or there are no new missions, it's a good thing we now have time for ourselves. Am I right?"

"Yes, but..."

"But nothing. For the next couple weeks, it is going to be us, the beach, and mimosas." Ava smiles at the thought of having a mimosa on the beach.

"You're right, we earned this. Let's go."

Sara smiles. "That's the spirit."

They take hold of their suitcases, exit the cargo bay, & walk on the rocky platform. As soon as they did, the door hatch automatically closes. The Waverider smoothly but swiftly flies away. "Besides, what is the worst that they could do?"
