CHAPTER 1
(MARIO'S P.O.V)
I put the last of my grocery items into the trolley, while I thought about my stay in Bon Temp so far. A week has passed since my first encounter with the supernatural. Bigfoot to be exact, as I couldn't help but think about what Jason had told me the first time we met: Bon Temp is like the twilight zone, and to watch my back when there was trouble. Thinking back to how everything went down, I'm grateful he gave me a heads up. Bon Temp was definitely an interesting place, good or bad.
Especially Tara…
Most women who would've been put in Tara's shoes, when it came to being possessed by Maryann, would've been in an asylum by now. Yet Tara seemed to have a strong resolve to keep going, even when she felt defeated in life. I admired that about her among other things, as I thought about her smile… "OH…" a white young lady suddenly appeared and exclaimed in excitement, snapping me out of my pleasant thoughts. "MY… GOD!." She ran up to me and was now circling me. "You're that cute R&B singer Mario!." Before I could react I was circled by two other white young women, who were bombarding me with questions, and speaking all at once. "Well, well, well," I heard a familiar voice. "If it isn't Mr. Mysterious Outsider…" Charlaine Bellefleur stated, as she stopped in front of me. "Charlaine, have you met him before?." Adilyn Bellefleur inquired genuinely surprised. (The girls introduced themselves to me before Charlaine walked up , and Charlaine I met before). "Actually," Charlaine said, never taking her eyes off of me, as she undressed me with her eyes. "I met him a week ago," Charlaine explained. "Can I have an autograph and a picture?!," Braelyn Bellefleur gushed with excitement.
Fifteen minutes later, after taking photos and interacting with them the girls said goodbye, and headed out the door. Only Charlaine stayed behind. "So…" Charlaine smiled seductively at me. "How are you liking Bon Temp so far?." "It's great," I responded with a polite smile. "Like anything you see in particular?," she grinned, taking a closer step to me. Before I could respond Danika Bellefleur suddenly appeared, and grabbed Charlaine by the shoulders. "We're gonna miss the party of the century!, Charlaine we need to go," Danika steered Charlaine away from me to the direction of the door. "Bye Mario," Charlaine cooed over her shoulder, then allowed Danika to steer her out the door, as I briefly waved.
(TARA'S P.O.V)
It was Friday morning at 7:00am, and I was at the Merlott's Bar wiping down the bar counter, preparing to do my morning shift. I sighed in disappointment, as I flashed back to seeing Mario being surrounded by the Bellefleur sisters, and overhearing the entire conversation.
I should've known his ass was too good to be true…
Ain't this some shit, what were the odds I would make friends with "The R&B artist Mario?." However that ain't the point. At the end of the day, I got too close to someone who might very well be a player. "Mirror mirror on the wall," an annoying familiar voice suddenly spoke as I instantly frowned. "Who is the fairest black girl of them all?." (Season 1 episode 1) Terrell Humpfrey grinned at me, as he took a seat, while I rolled my eyes. "Hi Terrell," I greeted him. "I'll have a rum and coke sweet thing," Terrell ordered. "Did you hear about that vampire king from Mississippi what's his name Russell Edgington," I overheard Royce Allen Williams (Season 1 & 2) telling his two friends, who joined the bar.
"Rumour has it he's suppose to come to Bon Temp to meet the vampire king of Louisiana Bill Compton." Royce continued to explain as Terrell, and I eaves dropped. "Get a load of this: Russell Edington is coming to collect a medallion. This is a unique medallion that allows vampires to walk in the sun." I immediately paused at my task and silently prayed this was not true.
Can't Bon Temp ever be peaceful for once?...
