CHAPTER 3
(TARA'S P.O.V)
Later on in the afternoon around 4pm, Sookie and I decided to head to the community tennis court to play a friendly game of tennis. "So I overheard some interesting news this morning," I said as Sookie and I sat in the shade of the tennis court. A billboard with a picture of a six pack of Trueblood, was erected close to the court which provided shade. "Yeah like what?," Sookie asked casually, putting her hair in a high ponytail. "Well for starters," I began to explain laying back on my back, hands behind my head. "Rumour has it that the King of Mississippi Russell Edgington is coming to see Bill tomorrow night."
Sookie froze hearing this, as her eyes widened in surprise. "Thee Russell Edgington?!," she inquired, making sure it wasn't anyone else. "That's not even the exciting part," I sarcastically replied looking up into the sky. "Rumor also has it that Russell is coming to Bon Temp to collect a package, and this package contains a special medallion that vampires can wear, that allows them to walk in the sun." "You godda be fucking kidding me," Sookie rolled her eyes in annoyance for a moment. "Wait…" Sookie paused slowly, dropping her hands to her side at a sudden realization. "I wonder why Bill didn't tell me about this?." Sookie wondered aloud.
"Probably didn't want you to worry about it," I suggested as I yawned. "Oh look," Sookie poked me, and pointed in the opposite direction. "It's Mario." Hearing his name I flew up, and quickly picked up my sport duffel bag to Sookie's confusion. "Make up the first excuse that comes to mind," I quickly explained while jogging away, as I heard him call my name. To be honest I didn't know how to handle this situation. Now that I knew who Mario was, I was having doubts about being so friendly with him. I've been disappointed by people too many times before. The only people I felt comfortable with are the ones I already trusted here in Bon Temp.
But then again I didn't sense any deceit on Mario's part…
You know what?!...
Fuck it!.
I'm keeping a hundred yards away from that n*gga…
