"Do you want to try talking to her now, Uncle Steve?" Joan asked when they got home.

"No, Joan."

"No? But you wanted to meet her so badly," Joan didn't understand Steve's flinch.

"Keep your voice down so your mother doesn't hear, Joan. I don't want to talk to Catherine like this, I want to talk to her face to face. Did she tell you where she's living?"

"She said the name of the town. It's a small town in the mountains and she works at the police station, but I don't have her address," Joan answered.

"The name of the town and knowing where she works is enough," Steve replied.

"Are you going there?"

"Aren't you the one who told me to go after my happiness?" Steve replied.

"Yes! Oh, Uncle Steve... it will be so cool if you guys get back together. Do you promise to call me and tell me everything?"

Steve smiled at her excitement. "I promise but only because you deserve it. You're the best niece in the world.

"You're also the best uncle in the world," she replied.

Catherine woke up and stretched out on the bed. She lay there for a while enjoying the warmth coming from the fireplace. She was thinking about her conversation with Joan. Joan had asked a lot of questions and told her that Steve had a profile on a social network. "Hard to believe, but it's true," Joan had said.

Catherine picked up her laptop and looked at his profile again. She thought about leaving a message for him but exited. She checked to see if there were any other messages from Joan, but found that there were not.

"That's not fair to me," she told herself. She had lived for so many years missing him and had suffered greatly from it. She had moved to her current city and decided to keep the feelings from the past in a little corner of her heart. It was like a chest of memories that she only opened when she wanted to, but since Joan started sending her messages, it was as if the chest had fallen on the floor and scattered all the memories.

"I miss you so much, sailor," she said in a low voice.

Steve was at the airport when Danny called him. "Hi, Steve. Are you arriving today or tomorrow?"

"Hi, Danny. Actually I've decided to stretch my vacation a little further. I'm going to spend a few days in some mountain town."

"Really?" Danny found it odd that he wanted to go somewhere cold.

"Really," Steve replied.

"Okay. Have a good trip. Let me know when you're coming back," Danny ordered.

"I will, Danny. Thanks."

Catherine got up and ate her breakfast while looking at the snow that was piling up outside her house. The lake that was in front of her house was almost completely frozen over and she was glad to be off duty.

Steve got on the plane, sat down and closed his eyes as he took a deep breath. "What am I going to tell her when I get there?" he thought.

Catherine was preparing her favorite food for lunch, her grandmother's recipe, and remembered Steve as she cooked, "Steve liked it when I cooked."

The two were thinking about each other and felt nostalgic for their days together.
