Chapter One

Through his many years at Hogwarts, Ron always knew he would be second best to Harry. He was the Boy Who Lived and all that junk. But he just wanted to be better at one thing, or at least be known for something. For this reason, Ron decided to make himself known. He came up with several ideas, but Hermione and Harry shot most of them down. There was one, though, that intrigued the two and he thus decided to perform it. He decided that it should be done on Halloween. So he prepared and waited.

Halloween finally came. He had spent the past few weeks preparing a potion; the core part of his stunt. Parties were happening all throughout the castle in honor of this wonderful holiday. He sat on his bed thinking about what was going to happen.

Harry came into the room and sat down beside him. "This is going to be so amazing. I can't believe you're actually going to do it." He gave him a big slap on the back. "I can't wait to see the looks on their faces."

Ron smiley slightly, "I just hope it works."

"Well at least the potion will work, I mean Hermione did tell you exactly what to do."

"Yeah…" He couldn't stop fiddling with his hands; he was too nervous.

There was a quiet knock on the door. And without a response, the door opened. Hermione walked in, a bag hung over her shoulder. She reached in and pulled out something wrapped in a girl's shirt. She gave Ron a concerned glance and carefully handed him the object. "Just be careful, okay?" She turned towards the door and started to head out.

"Hermione, wait." She stopped. He gave Harry a quick glance and then The Boy Who Lived left the room, leaving them alone.

"Yes?" She said uneasily. She was still frozen near the door.

"Come here," he said sweetly and patted next to him.

She slowly came over and sat down. She looked at him sadly. All he could do was stare into her beautiful eyes. There was silence for a few moments then she hastily said "I know you really want to do this Ron, but what if something goes wrong? This potion could have gotten messed up somehow. Like with the Polyjuice Potion, but worse. I don't want anything bad to happen to you. Maybe this isn't such a good id--"

She was cut off by Ron pressing his mouth against hers. They held this for but a moment then went back to their respective positions. She blushed wildly; so did he. This was there first kiss, pent up over the past several years. He took her hand delicately in his.

"I've been meaning to do that for a while. I love you Hermione." He smiled and blushed a tad more.

"I…" She looked down with a mixture of happiness and speechlessness. Then her eyes met his. "I love you too Ron." She leaned in and kissed him tenderly. "Do you know how upset I was that you didn't ask me to the Yule Ball three years ago?" She chuckled.

"Yeah…" He said sheepishly. "I'm sorry about that, but I promise I won't hide how I feel any more." He kissed her forehead. "I have to finish getting ready…"

She smiled and got up. "Just be careful, okay? I don't want to explain to your mother why you're dead or something."

"No worries." She left him alone to do what he needed. Time slowly ticked on until it finally came time to begin what he needed to do to get recognition.
