Notes: this is written for the 30soldiers community on LiveJournal. This is theme #1, Red. Jason is thinking about his former color, and Kat tries to ease his mind. Jason's nickname for Katherine is 'Katy'. Takes place shortly after Mondo's Last Stand. Also, in this set of stories, Tommy/Kim never broke up. This will be a whole series of stories dealing with the relationship between Jason & Katherine. Reviews are very much appreciated, as this is my first story!
"What's up, Jason?" Kat said, looking at him as she slid into the seat across from him. "What's wrong?"
"No, nothing. I'm very happy to be back with the gang, and especially with you. The Gold Ranger powers are amazing, but I can't help but feeling a bit of longing for red. I know that Tommy is the Red Ranger now, but it was my first color. I loved the responsibility that came with it, and being the leader. I had to watch out for everyone else and make sure no harm came to them."
"Well, maybe this will cheer you up." Kat said, taking off her jacket to reveal a pink shirt with a red insignia in the center, and having a pink skirt on.
Jason couldn't believe it. Kat was wearing his color. It meant that she supported him, and that he was just as important to the team as anyone else, even if he wasn't red anymore.
"Kat," he said, his voice betraying his emotion. "You're wearing my color. You have no idea how much that means to me. Thanks, Katy." He said, drawing her into a hug, and kissing her lightly.
"You're welcome," Kat said as she hugged him back. She knew how much the gesture would mean to him, and as long as he was happy, that was all that mattered.
