Another Saturday, another chapter, right? It was time for a little less Monica POV, so enjoy! Also, I know Ross's part might seem a little repetitive, but I really wanted to write about his feelings in this situation.

The romantic mood filled every hallway of Lincoln Highschool; It was February and almost Valentine's day. And Rachel didn't miss it. She wandered around, checking out the cute boys, seeing if she could catch the attention of one of them. After all, she needed a date for Valentine's day. She couldn't spend the most romantic day of the year single.

"OMG, Mon, did you see that? We just passed by Ryan Carpenter, and I swear he winked at me! Maybe he will ask me out!" Rachel exclaimed to her friend.

"That's great, Rach," Monica answered with a smile. But Rachel had known Monica forever, and she immediately realized that her friend wasn't sharing her excitement.

"What's wrong, Mon?" Rachel asked.

Monica didn't look up at her.

"It's just... You're super pretty and popular, and I'm sure a lot of guys want to go out with you. But I am not popular, and not skinny and pretty like you. Nobody would want to go out with me," Monica explained.

"That's not true! I'm sure someone will want to go out with you!" Rachel answered, trying to cheer her best friend up.

However, as the week passed, Rachel noticed that, indeed, no boys were trying to catch Monica's attention. Was it because she was fat? Rachel hated how people were so quick to judge Monica by her weight. Monica might have her flaws, like talking too loud and being too competitive, but she was also one of the most caring people Rachel knew.

Rachel thought that Monica deserved to feel wanted by someone, and she wanted to help her friend feel better. So, one evening she had an idea: She could put a card in Monica's locker, signed as someone else. Monica would never know, and she would be thrilled for the rest of the day.

But who? Rachel thought. The first person that came to her mind was, of course, Chip Mattews. But that would be too obvious, and Monica would suspect that the card was fake. So, Rach thought a bit more until she remembered someone: Tom Parrish. He was not too popular, didn't have a girlfriend, and he had a class together with her and Monica. It was the perfect plan.

Valentine's eve finally arrived, and Rachel had the perfect excuse to put the card on Monica's locker without her noticing, so Monica would only see the card the following morning. Luckily, she had cheerleading practise that day, so she told Monica to not wait for her because she was going to meet with Katie.

When her practice was over that day, Rachel quickly went to Monica's locker, right next to hers, and placed the card signed as Tom into it. Now, she only had to wait for Monica to find it the following morning.

Valentine's day arrived, and Rachel felt excited. Not only for her perfect plan to see Monica happy but also because she was eager for Ryan to ask her out. She made sure that they both arrived early that day, so they could have time to check their lockers.

"Hey, Mon, my math book is in my locker. I need to pick it up before classes," Rachel suggested.

The girls went to pick up their books. As soon as Rachel opened her locker door, a blue postcard fell to the floor. She picked it up and let out a loud squeal.

"Oh my god! It's from Chip Mattews! Chip sent me a Valentine's postcard! I can't believe it!" Rachel was thrilled. Chip was the cutest guy in the entire school, and both she and Monica had an undeniable crush on him.

Monica looked at Rachel, slightly disappointed.

"I'm so happy for you! I bet I won't have any card like it happens every year," She said.

However, when Monica opened the metal door, Rachel heard her gasp in surprise. She took out the pink postcard decorated with glitter and took a moment to read it. Then, just as Rachel had hoped for, a huge smile appeared on her face.

"Oh my god, Rach! Someone left me Valentine's card this year!"

"Really?" Rachel asked, faking her surprise. "Who is it from?"

"It's from Tom Parrish! You know, that cute guy that's in our science class!"

The girls walked to the classroom, both happy about the cards they had received. But during the lesson, Rachel started to think more seriously about the subject. She had a huge crush on Chip, and apparently, he liked her too. But Monica also liked him. How would she react if they started dating? Would she be jealous? Their friendship had already almost been ruined because of a boy once. Rachel didn't want that to happen again; they had promised to not let boys affect their friendship.

She spent most of the morning thinking about it. They were leaving the classroom after the last lesson of the day when Rachel felt someone touch her. She turned around and saw Ryan right in front of her.

"Hey, Rachel," He started, and Rachel could tell he was nervous. "I just wanted to ask if maybe, you know..., you would want to go out with me one of these days?"

"Omg, yes!" Rachel exclaimed. It was the perfect solution. She also thought Ryan was cute, and she didn't have to go out with Chip.

"Actually, I'm free today. What about we meet after lunch?" She suggested, already excited.

"Yeah, sounds perfect," Ryan answered.

"Then, see you after lunch," Rachel said and, in a bold moment of courage, kissed him on the cheek as she walked away.

Ross spent the whole week thinking if he should ask Rachel out for Valentine's day. Lately, he had felt that Rachel was being more friendly with him, and he couldn't help but get his hopes up. He pondered about leaving a note on her locker but decided it would be better if he just asked her in person. She would probably receive a lot of postcards anyway.

Finally, the perfect day arrived, and Ross waited the whole morning to ask Rachel out. He decided he would meet her after her last lesson. However, little did he know his heart was about to be broken. Excited that Rachel might accept his invitation, he ran down the school hallways until he found her classroom.

As soon as Ross reached her door, he saw Rachel with another guy. She was smiling at him with the smile Ross had seen her use on previous boyfriends, and suddenly, she ended the conversation with a kiss on his cheek.

Ross stood still, in shock and heartbroken. He had missed his chance. Another "perfect" blonde-haired, blue-eyed guy had stolen his chance to ask Rachel out. Why couldn't Rachel see him the same way?

Maybe he should give up on Rachel and be happy they were at least friends. Except he couldn't. He had been crushing on Rachel for too long to forget about it.

Crestfallen, Ross started to go back, but halfway he ran into someone.

"Oh, hi," he said as soon as he realized it was Chandler.

Chandler went to the library to do some homework while e waited for the chess club. He was trying to find somewhere to sit when he spotted a familiar figure at one of the desks.

"Hi, Monica. Do you mind if I sit here with you?" He asked.

Monica looked at him as if pondering his request before she answered.

"Why aren't you with my brother?"

"Honestly, I made up an excuse to get away from him. He wanted to ask Rachel out but saw her with another guy, and I had to put up with listening to him whining until now," Chandler answered honestly.

Monica eye-rolled and then looked at him with a sympathetic look that told him she understood what he had gone through.

"Fine, you can sit here. And I'll make sure I avoid talking to Ross for the next two days."

"So... Got a hot date tonight?" He asked, pulling up a chair. Truth be told, Chandler only asked that because he didn't know what else to say. Monica was his best friend's sister, and he was not really that close friends with her.

"Not really. But I've got an admirer! I received this postcard today in my locker! I hope Tom asks me out soon!" Monica answered him excitedly, showing him the pink cardboard postcard.

"Well,...Guess I'm the only unlucky today, I see."

"You didn't ask anyone out?" Monica asked, surprised.

"I think you have talked to me enough times to know I lack the social skills to do that," Chandler said in a slightly sarcastic tone.

However, he thought about it. Even Monica had an admirer. Maybe he should ask someone out.

The hours passed, and by the end of the day, Chandler was ready to go home from the chess club. He was alone walking to the bus stop when he saw a blonde girl running toward him.

"Hello, Chandler!" Ellie, a girl from the chess club, said.

Chandler pretended not to hear. Of all the girls he wished would talk to him, Ellie was not one of them. During chess club, she spent all the time trying to talk to him. And he would have to feel flattered if she wasn't totally annoying.

She touched him, and he couldn't pretend he hadn't seen her anymore.

"Hey, I was just going to catch the bus," Chandler said.

"Oh My God! I'm also going to catch the bus! We can keep each other company!" Ellie exclaimed excitedly.

Guess he wouldn't have any other option. They went to the bus stop and spent a few awkward minutes not knowing what to say. Until Ellie broke the silence.

"I bet you received a lot of dating requests today! Have you asked someone out?"

"Uh..., not really. I'm not interested in anyone right now. Besides, I don't really care much about Valentine's day. The perfect plan for today would be to run into as many restaurants as possible, shout: "I can't believe you're here! I thought you loved me!" and then run away."

His error was to try to joke. Because Ellie started to laugh in the most high-pitched laugh he'd ever hear.

"You're so funny, Chandler!"

They spent the remaining time waiting for the bus talking about their lack of romantic life. Of course, Chandler didn't want to share too many personal details with Ellie, but in the end, the conversation was not as bad as he thought it would be.

"That is my bus," Ellie said after a while, pointing to the vehicle approaching the stop. "It was nice to wait with you."

"Yeah, same," Chandler answered honestly. "So, goodbye, Ellie."

"Bye, Chandler," The blonde girl said back as she approached the bus.

At that moment, Chandler felt something weird inside him. He didn't know if it was the pressure of having some romance on the day or the surprisingly not-so-bad conversation he'd had, but suddenly, Chandler felt an unfamiliar wave of affection for Ellie.

So, before she could step away, Chandler did what he never thought he would do: He kissed her.
