Hello! I'm so sorry I didn't post last week. I didn't have my computer with me during the weekend, and then during the week, I had almost no time and completely forgot!
This chapter is 200% a filler, it was supposed to be a funny scene, I hope it is at least a bit funny.
Also, I never thought I would be saying this, but please tell me what you're thinking of this story, I will keep on updating, but the lack of feedback is a little demotivating
"Monica, dear, come here to help set up the table," Mrs Geller called from the kitchen.
"Why can't you ask Ross? He never helps with anything!" Monica whined.
"Your brother is busy studying," Her mother answered. "Perhaps that's why he's such a good student. You should take on his example."
Monica rolled her eyes at her mother's last comment.
"There's no way that nerd has so much homework..." She muttered under her breath as she climbed the stairs to see what was making Ross so busy. Determined to find out, she barged into Ross's room without knocking.
"Dinner is almost done, and unless you can prove you're studying, I won't set the table for you again," Monica declared.
Only after she finished speaking did she notice Ross fumbling with some papers on his desk as if trying to quickly hide them.
Jackpot. That must have been what Monica was looking for.
"I'm...I'm studying!" Ross awkwardly yelled. "What are you doing here? Ever heard of knocking"
Monica moved toward Ross's desk with a smirk on her face.
"Studying, hun? Then let me see what you're studying. What're those papers there?"
Ross threw a worried glance at the "hidden" papers.
"I knew! What's in them? It's your secret diary?" Monica teased. "Let me see."
Ross picked up the papers and held onto them protectively.
"Let me see it!" She yelled, trying to grab the sheets.
"It's none of your business..." Ross answered, moving the papers away from Monica.
However, Monica was now even more curious about the secrecy behind those few sheets of paper. So, she used her ultimate resource: she grabbed onto Ross's arm until he started to squirm in his seat "Ouch, ouch!"
With his mind distracted, Monica snatched the paper sheets from Ross's hands. She quickly scanned their content before she burst out laughing.
"Oh my god! What is this? A homemade comic book?"
"Don't make fun of Science Boy!" Ross yelled. "Like you could come up with something better yourself."
"Science Boy?" Monica asked through another fit of laughs. "What's his superpower? A super scientific mind?" She teased.
"It's actually a superhuman thirst for knowledge..." Ross mumbled.
"Oh god. I can't wait to tell the others about this. How much time did you spend doing this?"
"I've been working on it for a few months now..."
"Monica! I told you to set the table ten minutes ago. What's taking you so long?" They heard their mother yelling from downstairs.
Ross looked at Monica with a pensive look.
"I'll set the table if you promise to not tell anyone about this."
"Ohh, I can't wait for tomorrow!" Rachel exclaimed for the tenth time since the girls had arrived home from school.
"Rach, It's only a field trip to the museum. It's probably going to be boring! It's like listening to Ross talking, but you'll have to pay attention."
"Well... At least we won't be stuck in a boring math class..."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
On the following morning, the girls, Ross and Chandler, met near the school entrance, where everyone at school was gathering to get into the buses that would take them to the museum.
"I'm so excited! I can't wait to learn about the dinosaurs and all!" Ross exclaimed. He and Rachel must have been the only ones excited about the trip. And Rachel was only excited because they didn't get to have classes that day.
"We get it! We already got it for the last half an hour!" Monica said, exasperated.
"Oh, C'mon, the day can't be THAT bad," Chandler intervened.
Just as he finished his sentence, a blond girl he immediately recognized as Ellie came running to him.
"I take back what I said."
"Hello, Chandler!" Ellie exclaimed in her habitual overexcited tone. "I want to sit next to you during the bus ride!"
Chandler was not expecting that. Why hadn't he expected Ellie to want to be his partner during the trip?
"I... I..." He stammered, trying to quickly think of an excuse while he looked around at his friends.
"We are already each other's pairs. Ross will sit next to Ross, and I will sit next to Monica," Chandler said more confidently, looking at his friends with a pleading look.
However, it seemed his friends still had not gotten over teasing him about the kiss.
"Except you're forgetting I need to sit alone because I take up two seats," Monica said with a mischievous smile.
The bus ride went great for Ross. Thanks to Chandler trying to avoid sitting with his pseudo-girlfriend, he got to sit next to Rachel during the bus ride. And during the visit to the museum, the four friends stick together, with Chandler trying to avoid Ellie.
Ross had already been to the museum. However, something during that visit felt different. He had always loved geology; Monica had even mocked him for the "Geology rocks" sticker on his backpack. But looking at all the dinosaurs with different eyes made him realize it was his true passion. And that was when he realized he wanted to become a palaeontologist and work at the museum.
After the visit ended, everyone was free to go whatever they wanted. The gang decided to go have lunch at a sandwich place near the museum. Ross wanted to ask some questions, but everyone else was too hungry to put up with his nerdiness, as Monica called it. So they went ahead, and Ross would join them later.
Having all his questions answered, Ross started to walk to the sandwich place. He was too absorbed in his thoughts that he didn't notice he had done a wrong turn and approached a shady-looking alley. When he did notice, Ross started to turn around, but it was too late.
"Give me your money, punk!" A scary-looking girl threatened him.
Ross stood still for a second. The blonde girl didn't look much older than him, but she did look way scarier. Was he really trying to be mugged by a girl? He decided to ignore her and turned around, but that was not the first time the girl had done that.
"I said: Give me your money," The girl repeated, pulling Ross by his ear.
"Ow, Ow!" Ross screamed at the girl's strength. He suddenly was terrified of the blonde girl, so he decided not to offer resistance anymore.
The girl took his backpack and started to look through his stuff. Of course, the first thing she took was the money from his wallet, but she didn't seem satisfied enough with just that. Ross panicked when he saw the girl looking at his "Science boy" comic with interest.
"Ohh, what's that? A home-drawn comic book?" She asked more to herself than Ross as she examined the papers. "This is definitely going to my collection!"
She kept the papers with her and handed Ross his backpack with everything else.
"You can go now; I have all I want," The girl said.
Ross was about to protest and ask her for his comic back when he noticed the girl had her scary expression again.
"I said you can go," She said in a threatening tone again. "Or do you want me to make you cry like a little girl?"
"No, no," Ross said as he retrieved his backpack from the floor. Then, he didn't waste a second running out of that alley and the scary girl.
"Hi," He said once he met his friends at the sandwich place. All of them looked at him with concern.
"What happened, man? What took you so long?" Chandler asked.
"I...I was muggled on my way from the museum," Ross admitted.
"Ohh! Are you okay? It must have been so scary!" Rachel asked in a worried tone.
"Yeah...really scary. Some big older dudes..." He faked. No way he was gonna tell he was muggled by a girl their age.
"At least you're okay. What did they take?" Chandler asked.
"Just my money lunch..." Ross hurried to answer.
"It's okay; I have enough money to pay for you."
"You look way too depressed for losing only lunch money..." Monica said, looking at him. Then, realization washed over her face, and Ross knew his secret was about to be revealed.
"They took your "comic", didn't they?"
Sorry about this abrupt end, but I thought it would be a nice point because everyone can understand what happened next, right? ahaha
