As Jacen and Ezra trained the next day, Ezra gave Jacen's lightsaber back for sparring. As they sparred, Ezra realized that Jacen used a form of lightsaber combat he wasn't familiar with.

"How did you learn to fight like this? I didn't teach you this form.", said Ezra.

"It's Form VII. I practiced it from one of the Jedi texts you have.", said Jacen.

"You practice Vaapad? Only one Jedi was known to use it.", replied Ezra.

"Mace Windu, I know.", said Jacen.

"This is a very aggressive form you're using. You've got to be careful. Remember Jedi are only supposed to defend.", replied Ezra.

"That's the thing though! All the Jedi training you've been teaching me has only been about defense! What about offense? Come on, Ezra. Put two and two together! That's why the Jedi were wiped out! Because they never put the enemy on the defensive instead!", retorted Jacen.

"You win by surviving, Jacen, not killing! How many times do I have to tell you that? If you don't get a grip on this, it will change you. Giving in to anger may give you more physical strength, but it will only consume you in the end. That's what Kanan taught me.", replied Ezra.

"You're wrong and you don't understand.", said Jacen.

"Yes, I do. I almost went down that path myself, but because of what your father taught me and his faith in me, I was able to overcome the temptations of the dark side and liberate Lothal, my home world, from Imperial rule without giving in. You know what... I think it's time we have a different type of lesson. I'm going to take you to a place where I'll teach you to connect with other living beings through the Force. Go get some rest for now. It's been a long day.", said Ezra.

"All right.", replied Jacen as he went in his room on Ezra's old bunk in the Ghost to sleep.

As Ezra sat outside the Ghost on Garel, Sabine came up and sat beside him.

"You don't think I'm being too hard on him, do you?", asked Ezra.

"No. You care about him and you always look out for him. If he were always happy with you, then you'd be doing something wrong. If anything, Kanan taught you how to be an even better teacher than himself. Remember that it's mostly because of you that I was even able to learn how to use the Darksaber. You guided me step-by-step.", replied Sabine.

"Thanks. That really means a lot to me coming from you.", said Ezra.

"Ezra, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while since we brought you home...", said Sabine.

"What is it?.", asked Ezra.

"I never thought I'd say this, but... I love you.", confessed Sabine.

"I-uh... I thought you just wanted to be friends.", said Ezra.

"I did...at first...for a while. But over the years, I saw how brave and kind-hearted of a person you always were deep down and how you layed your life down for all of us. That's what made me fall for you. I don't know if you still feel the same way, but I just thought you should know.", finished Sabine as Ezra started to hold her hand, lift up her chin and smile at her before they leaned in and kissed each other before they spent the rest of the evening together watching the daylight fade.
