A/N:
1)Hello again! I finally managed to finish this chapter. It was a bit hard for me to write, but I pushed through it in the end! Things are supposed to start getting more intense from here on out!
2)Right now, I'm thinking about changing the name of this story, but I have no idea what I should change it to. If you'd like to help me out, then just leave a comment and let me know. I'm the worst at making titles (*;D)
3)Also, there's a story I've been reading that I want to give a shout out to. If you like Star Wars the Clone Wars, you might wanna check out Padawan, Mine by Tisha P Moon (tisha_p_moon) on A03. Its dark tho, so just be mindful of that.
I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Emma's POV
It did not take long at all until the footsteps arrived on the other side of the only door in the room. While she could only remember bits and pieces of what happened before, Emma knew a cell when she saw one. Automatically that put her on the defensive against whoever the footsteps could belong to. Both her and Regina moved into a defensive position as the lock started to turn, sharing a wince as their heads throbbed from the blow they each took.
With an annoyingly loud squeal the door opened. The light from outside momentarily blinded Emma before the door once again closed. However, the room did not return to being dark once more. The person that came in was holding a torch. As Emma's eyes adjusted to the fire light, she was slowly able to see more of the man holding it. He was dressed in silver armor, a symbol of an unknown animal decorated the front of it. To the woman it looked like a mix between a lion and bear. His outfit reminded her of a knight from a movie. It hardly seemed real to her. The symbol, though she had never seen it before, was familiar, and Emma felt like there was a memory just at the edge of her mind waiting to come out.
Irritated by herself, Emma barked at the man, "Where are we, and why the hell did you kidnap us?" Regina gave her a look Emma didn't care to decipher. The man moved to take off his helmet. He looked at her like she was stupid, "You attacked an offically appointed storyteller from the Order of Our Lady. We didn't kidnap you, you were arrested."
Emma was slightly confused for a moment, until the blurry memories came rushing back to her. Now that she was thinking about it, her hands throbbed slightly, bruised from the strength she used.
He took her silence as answer enough, "Not only that, but you were shouting blasphemy about Our Lady, saying our beliefs are a lie."
Emma could feel the anger, the betrayal hearing that story had caused her to feel. It reminded her of when Neil let her take the blame so many years ago. As the feelings welled up in her again, she said without much thought, "Well they are!."
This time Emma could not ingnore the annoyed and incredulous look Regina gave her, unsure why Emma was doing something so stupid.
The guard kept a straight face, watching Emma closely, "You can be hanged for saying that."
Emma glared at him, wishing she could wring his neck as she tried to figure a way out of this situation. If only she had magic…
Right next to her Regina closed her eyes, looking very focused as she likely thought about the same thing as Emma, or so Emma thought. In the next moment Regina shot forward, way faster than Emma ever thought she could move, and shoved the man up against the wall. The torch fell and rolled across the ground, still burning. As the man struggled, Regina placed her hand threateningly against his chest, "You are going to let me and my friend walk out of here, or I will rip your heart out."
Emma was used to Regina making empty threats by now, so she let it slide. If it helped them get out of being hung, then Emma was all for it at the moment. Although, a part of Emma wondered why Regina hadn't just used her magic on the man, instead of being physical, but she guessed it made Regina more intimidating.
The man, while being intimidated, smiled for some reason, "You're a magic user." He stated simply. Regina growled at him, "Yes. Now if you don't want to die you're going to escort us out of here."
He didn't do anything, but a few seconds later Regina stumbled back, and would have fallen if Emma didn't catch her, "Regina!" She cried, supporting her while keeping the man in sight.
"She's not used to using magic, is she?" The man asked. Emma was unable to read his tone, more focused on Regina. Currently, Regina had a hand pressed against her head, and was struggling to stand up on her own. "Regina, what's wrong? Are you hurt anywhere?" Did the man hurt her? She was going to kill him.
As if reading her thoughts, Regina grabbed Emma's arm tightly, "I'm fine. It's just," She took in a deep breath, "Magic here is different." She sounded like she had just ran a marathon.
"Are you… Are you from a different realm?" The man asked, his voice a mix of excitement and curiosity. Emma turned and glared at him, "What's it to you? You'd probably kill us either way."
The man looked shocked at the revelation, but recovered quickly enough, "Look, I think we started off on the wrong foot."
"Really." Emma deadpanned.
The man stepped forward, hands in the air, "Yeah… um, how do I say this." Emma stepped back with Regina, not wanting to let him get too close. "You see," He continued, "I'm not really with The Order. I wanted to see if you were a viable recruit."
What the hell is he talking about? Emma hadn't really been paying attention to what he had said before Regina attacked him. Threatening someone made it hard for them to think about whatever else you said.
By now, Regina had recovered enough to join in the conversation again, "A recruit for what?"
The man hesitated, looking over his shoulder at the door for a moment, before saying softly, "I'm with the Children of The Truth. We also believe that the story of the so-called Lady is untrue. We want to put an end to the lies, and to also put an end to the complete control the Order has over our country."
Emma gave the man a long, hard stare, "And you want me because I also believe the story is false." He nodded enthusiastically, "Yes! I was sent here to try and see if you were serious, and if you'd like to join."
The man was essentially offering them the choice of 'join us or die.' That really rubbed Emma wrong. But, this man shared a similar belief to Nadie, maybe going with him to find these 'Children of The Truth' would help them on their journey to free Emma. Emma could look past her own irritation at his blatant manipulation tactics.
Emma and Regina shared a look. It was a risk, going with this man, but one they were willing to take.
"We'll join you." Regina said before turning her head to face the man.
