(NOTE: I forgot to factor in the 1000 Life Points Ran got from Upstart Goblin, so I'm going back to add some more to the duel. Nothing major, just one last card being played)
Here we are with another chapter of The Greatest Showman. I wish I updated Soul Games as frequently... Or at all, but oh well. I'll get chapter 2 out at some point.
This chapter underwent a few revisions past a certain point, so I'm not sure how I feel about it. I guess I'm just happy to get it out? I think I'll do a few more mostly slice of life chapters before I get into the Promotion Exams. The next few chapters will be spent fleshing out the characters I've introduced so far, since I don't want to have any of the currently established cast fade into the background.
From Caterpillar To Butterfly!
I held off on opening the three cases I bought until classes were over, which had me constantly checking the clock. I was excited, okay? I just bought TWO cases of a set that might have a Red-Eyes alternate artwork in it, and it wasn't the shitty alternate artwork from GX either. That one already came out like 5 years ago in this world.
I remember spending all of my allowance money every week on the pack it was in, only to get a bunch of Warrior cards, and eventually, the Sword Hunter he used as his ace.
The set had a Warriors vs Dragons theme, and I didn't pull any particularly good Dragon cards from it, the best I got was a Yamadron.
I grew to hate that card because of that experience.
Classes were as simple as ever, but that's nothing new. The only highlights of the day were when Mindy would drag me to whatever empty area we had available at the time to make out.
In an empty classroom during lunch, an empty section of the hallway in between classes, or even one of the many roofs of the academy that students could access at any time for some reason.
Of course, the fact that we'd both leave at pretty much the exact same time meant that our friends were getting a little suspicious. Mindy and I left at around the same time during our lunch period, and we came back together.
I could almost physically see the gears turning in Yumi's head when she noticed us together, no doubt thinking back to our behavior throughout the day and connecting the dots.
Still, no one commented on it, and I don't think Bastion even noticed it with how engrossed he was in his nerd work or whatever it is he does. Alexis and Jasmine probably suspected that something was up, but I wasn't worried about that.
Hell, all Jasmine would do if she decided to confront me about it is try to join us, which I'm all for at this point.
Mindy and I did have a talk about what we were and I told her that I wasn't looking for anything serious right now. The Duelist survival instinct that made her so affectionate with me in the first place pretty much ensured that she'd never get mad at me, so I wasn't surprised when she said that she was totally fine with that. Mindy told me that she'd be there for me whenever I wanted her, and that she's down with whatever I want.
I feel like a dick for abusing that, but whatever thing put me here clearly intended for me to go the harem route, and no one in their right mind would say no to that when it would be so easy.
Win a few card games and the hearts of beautiful women while I was at it? Yes, please.
Maybe if I challenge Zane at some point, everyone on the island will fall under the influence of 'the instinct'?
Something to consider.
Right now though, I have a duel to get to. Disa texted me this morning and worked out a deal with me. Since it was obvious just how much better I was than the average student after I completely stomped Atsumi into the ground, she needed a way to keep the betting pool diverse, so she asked me to give her a list of the decks I've used so far so people could start betting on what deck I'd be using.
There'd also be an option to bet on me using an entirely new deck, and after the first time I used a new deck, it would be added to the betting list.
In return for playing along, I'd get a cut of the profits from all the bets placed on my matches, 20% if I win, 5% if I lose.
Is it unethical to rake in the cash from bets when I'm the one competing? Probably, but it's not like I'm going to take a dive or anything. In fact, Disa doesn't even want me to do that, since it would take all of the interest out of my matches.
Everyone's here for the day I eventually get beaten, all of my challengers are here to be the one that takes me down. The moment that happens? No one will have a reason to stick around, which would be bad for business since I'm Disa and Masha's biggest cash cow.
Sure they take bets on other matches, but I was the main event, and the one that raked in the dough.
The deal we cut would make my after school duels a more permanent arrangement, which I was fine with.
This little after school duel club is quickly shaping up to be a minor league of its own. Hell, Masha's been looking into streaming it.
Finally making my way to the duel field with a few minutes to spare, I spot Syrus of all people about to take on a Ra Yellow.
Spotting Disa taking bets, I called out to her.
"Yo, Disa! What are the odds?" I asked her, to which she just pointed at the new board just off to the side where Masha was.
5/1 in the Ra Yellow's favor, huh?
"Hey, Masha." I greeted the girl taking bets with a smile. Masha and Disa don't look much alike, with Disa sporting somewhat wild blonde hair while Masha had straight brown hair. Disa was also more… Gifted in the body compared to her younger twin, although that isn't to say Masha wasn't stacked herself.
The two were as different as night and day. Disa was the outgoing sister while Masha was more reserved.
"Hi Yuji. Would you like to place a bet?" Masha asked, a smile on her face
"You know it. I'll put 50k on Syrus." I told her as I wired over the DP, over a quarter of what I had.
"U-um, are you sure? Syrus isn't exactly the best duelist, you know?" Masha warned, which I found touching in a way.
"I'm sure." I confirmed. "I think Syrus will surprise everyone today."
"Sure thing, Yuji." Masha responded. The odds didn't change from the money I dropped, which was perfect.
If Syrus loses? Eh, I'll make it up after my duel, but if he wins? That's 300k DP right there. Thirty thousand US dollars.
Yeah, what once started as a hastily set up betting pool has become an academy wide gambling ring in less than a week. The twins saw a void waiting to be filled, and made bank off of it. With all the rich kids in Duel Academy, there was almost a surplus of DP to go around.
Some kids decide to exchange all of their cash for it, since they can spend DP on everything while they're here anyway, and you get discounts when you spend with DP, so that half a million yen their rich parents sent them for the month? Converted into 50k DP, and every student on the island could earn more just from dueling, so long as the KaibaCorp system recognized it as a legit duel.
If you duel the same person more than once, your DP gain decreases sharply, before eventually ceasing to exist. If you earn more than 10,000 a day through dueling, then you're locked until the next day.
The higher up you were in the schools dorm hierarchy, the less DP you'd make from dueling, especially if you were dueling someone from a lower ranked dorm. If you punched up, and dueled someone from a higher ranked dorm and won, then you'd be making big bucks.
It's why I make around 3000 DP most of the time I duel, since I usually duel Obelisk's. If I dueled a Ra Yellow, then I'd be making closer to 1000, and 500 if it were a Slifer.
There are exceptions to that rule though. If a duelist has a good record, then you'd get loads more DP from beating them than you'd get from beating the average student. Beating someone like Zane would probably net me over 10000 DP, possibly even more if there wasn't a DP restriction in place.
I've heard that Obelisk Blue students get a monthly 10000 DP allowance from the school, so there's that at least.
All of these factors combined meant that those Obelisk Blue's I saw betting on Colin likely had more DP than they know what to do with.
It'll be funny as fuck to see the looks on their faces when those rich kids realized that they lost all of the DP they bet on the Ra Yellow, Colin.
After placing my bet, I went to find a spot in the stands, noticing Jaden sitting near the front, I took the seat next to him.
"You bet on Sy too, dude?" Jaden asked, possibly having done the same himself.
"You know it, I dropped a cool 50k on this match." I told him, to which Jaden just whistled.
"Nice! I only had 20k since I haven't been dueling as much, but I'll have a lot more once Syrus wins. He's gotten a lot better this past week." Jaden praised his friend.
"I just got done dueling down there myself. I turned 5k into 20 and all I had to do was duel!" Jaden gushed over his victory.
Damn, I missed an opportunity to bet on Jaden? I'd have gone all in if I made it in time to bet. Oh well, you can't have everything I guess.
If all the DP in Duel Academy wasn't DP that KaibaCorp bought back, then we would have crashed the market before the first day was over.
Hell, if Seto Kaiba wasn't using this place as a cover to run experiments on the game itself, then he would have probably shut it down years ago. Even with all of the monetization schemes in place, there's no way KaibaCorp is making more money than it's losing off of the 5 academies it owns.
That's right, 5, not 4 like I originally assumed.
Betting was closed at 6/1 odds and I felt my money boner increase exponentially.
The two duelists both rolled a six-sided die through the Solid Vision system and since Colin rolled higher than Syrue, he got to go first.
"I draw!" Colin announced, drawing his card.
"I activate the Field Spell, A Legendary Ocean! Which increases the ATK and DEF points of all WATER monsters on the field by 200, and reduces the level of all WATER monsters in our hands by 1." Colin threw his card into the Field Spell zone, instantly covering the Duel Arena in an orb of water.
Yikes. Syrus runs a Vehicroid deck, which were all Machine Monsters.
"Next, I summon Night Lizard in defense mode!" A green humanoid lizard creature with a cape and a trident materialized onto the field, instantly receiving a boost through Umi before taking a defensive stance on its card.
Night Lizard
1350(+200) ATK / 1500 (+200) DEF
"Your move." Colin ended.
"Draw!" Syrus looked at his card, smiling at it. "I summon Submarineroid in attack mode. Since Submarineroid is a WATER monster, it gets a boost from your Field Spell."
Not a bad play.
"Not only that, but my Submarineroid can attack you directly. GO, Submarineroid!" Syrus commanded.
Submarineroid went under the arena, only to appear right beneath Colin, blasting him with a torpedo.
Syrus: 4000
Colin: 3000
"When Submarineroid attacks, I can change it to defense mode." Syrus told Colin, changing his Submarineroid's battle position.
"Now I'll throw down a face-down and end my turn."
"Good one, Sy!" Jaden congratulated.
"Yeah man, keep up the pressure!" I joined in, looking forward to my half a million DP.
I could instantly tell that it was a mistake, because Syrus immediately got full of himself and told Colin that he should just give up.
"My move! I summon Mother Grizzly in attack mode, and equip her with Lucky Iron Axe, which raises her ATK points by 500!" Seeing a Grizzly Bear wielding an axe was one hell of a sight, I'll admit. If only it didn't push said Grizzly to 2100 ATK points.
"Oh no." Syrus moaned, aware of how thoroughly screwed he was.
"Oh yes! First I'll switch Night Lizard to attack mode." Colin grinned. "Now, Mother Grizzly, attack his Submarineroid!" Mother Grizzly charged at Submarineroid, axe bared and going for the kill, but thankfully, Syrus activated his face-down.
"I activate Supercharge! When a Machine monster I control is targeted for an attack, I get to draw two cards!" Oh. Well, at least he got two cards out of it.
If only it could have saved him from an attack.
Syrus' monster was destroyed, and then Night Lizard took a stab at him, taking 1350 life points with him. Colin ended his turn after placing a face-down card.
Colin: 3200
Syrus: 2650
"You got this, Sy!"Jaden cheered him on, which seemed to help.
"Yeah, I got this!" Syrus pumped himself up. "It's my move!" Syrus drew.
"I activate Pot of Greed! Now I can draw two cards." Syrus looked over his hand for a few seconds, before continuing.
"I activate Mystical Space Typhoon, to destroy A Legendary Ocean!" All of a sudden, a wind storm engulfed the arena, taking the water away with it like a drain.
It was a good move. He took away Colin's biggest advantage, and the guy didn't have a backrow to speak of either.
"Now, I summon Steamroid in attack mode." The cartoon steam train made its way onto the field with a whistle.
"Steamroid, attack his Mother Grizzly! When Steamroid attacks, it gains 500 ATK points!" Steamroid barreled into Mother Grizzly, destroying it, and dealing 400 points of damage to Colin.
Syrus: 2650
Colin: 2600
Next, I'll set three cards and call it a turn. Your move." It seemed getting his ass whooped last turn snapped Syrus out of his ego trip.
"I activate Fortress Whale's oath! By sending the Night Lizard on my field and Enchanting Mermaid from my hand to the Graveyard, I can Ritual Summon Fortress Whale!" Colin played, bringing out what was presumably his boss monster.
Fortress Whale
2350 ATK / 2150 DEF
"Next, I summon Star Boy in attack mode." A red Starfish with a single large eye that held itself up with multi-colored tendrils appeared on the field, showcasing a sharp-toothed grin.
"Star Boy increases the ATK points of every WATER monster on the field by 500!" Which put Fortress Whale at over 2850 ATK points.
"Oh no!" Jaden was on the edge of his seat, worried for Syrus, while I was worried for my DP.
"He still has his face-downs Jaden. Three of them in fact." I reminded him.
"Fortress Whale, attack Steamroid! Mega Missile Strike!" Colin ordered, prompting Fortress whale to send a wave of torpedoes and missiles at Steamroid. Syrus was unfazed, however.
"I activate Magic Cylinder!" Syrus flipped the face-down card over, and I felt my heart soar.
"Not only does this card negate your attack, but it also deals your Fortress Whale's ATK points back at you as damage!" The missiles Fortress Whale shot at Syrus were caught by the first cylinder, before pure energy shot out of the second, and into Colin, winning Syrus the duel.
Syrus: 2650
Colin: 0
"YES!" Jaden and I jumped for joy, the both of us were happy for Syrus, and I was completely overjoyed with my winnings.
+332,500 DP
I can practically taste the tears of the rich fucks that bet against Syrus. I just made more in a single day than most people make in a year, all thanks to some kids with more money than sense, and I'm about to make even more.
I love this place.
"Good job, Sy! I knew you could do it." I praised him as I walked onto the field.
I already knew which deck I was going to use. My opponent still hadn't arrived, but that wasn't going to change my decision. It's about time I debuted this deck anyway.
"So you're that Yuji kid everyone's been talking about, huh?" My opponent observed as she made her way onto the field.
She was, in one word, a bombshell. From the bottom up she wore stylish pink heels, tight black leggings under her short blue skirt, which marked her as an Obelisk, her midriff was bare leaving her taut body on display.
Her jacket was short, and displayed way more cleavage than the average girls uniform did, with only a small black tube top underneath to protect her modesty. She had a silver locket around her neck, which only drew the eye even further to the chest area.
Her hair and eyes were the same plum color. Her hair was styled oddly, looking normal as far as women in this world go, with two braids coming from the back of her head to her chest. The rest of her hair fell down her back, parted down the center, giving her hair the appearance of scissor blades almost.
She was hot, extremely so, but I can't help but feel she's over doing it a bit. Still, it worked on her.
She also looks extremely familiar.
"I'm not that impressed." She said, "Everyone's been talking about you like you're the second coming of Zane Truesdale, but I just don't see it. Sorry hon." She shrugged.
Now I remember her! She's the Insect Princess chick that Syrus beat to advance to Ra Yellow.
"Is that so?" I remarked as I activated my duel disk, my opponent doing the same.
"Before I show you why I don't need to be the second coming of anyone to tear you apart, I'm Yuji Rengoku, although you already seem to know that." I introduced myself. I wasn't about to take the sass talk lying down, no way, no how.
"You got a name?" I asked her.
"Ran Kocho, hon." She smiled, "Not like we'll be seeing much of each other after I beat you into the dirt. As a second year, I'll take the first move. DRAW!"
"I summon Pinch Hopper in defense mode!" A grasshopper crouched down on Ran's side of the field. Not bad. Pinch Hopper lets you Special Summon an Insect Monster from your hand when it's sent to the graveyard.
"Now I'll set one card, and end my turn." Ran finished. A strong start, even if the dorks in the crowd don't understand it. She also has 4 cards in her hand, so she has options, no doubt. Even if they're dead cards at the moment, all it takes is one good draw to turn them into the perfect playmakers.
"My move!" I drew. With the cards in my hand, I could really fuck her day up.
"I activate the Magical Citadel of Endymion Field Spell!" A sprawling magical city filled to the brim with floating runes engulfed the field, a tower in the center of it, but not obscuring our sight of one another or our fields.
"Next, I summon Breaker The Magical Warrior in attack mode." The iconic red armor-clad Spellcaster came onto the field.
"When Breaker is summoned, he gains a Spell Counter that increases his ATK points by 300!" Breaker was powered up to 1900 ATK points.
"Next, I activate Pot of Greed!" The infamous green pot with a devious face appeared on my field, and I drew two cards. As I did that, a part of the tower began to glow.
"What's going on?" Ran asked, confused.
"Whenever a Spell card is activated, my Citadel gains one Spell Counter." I informed her with a smug grin.
"Don't think I'm stopping there! I activate Magical Stone Excavation! By discarding two cards, I can add one Spell Card from my Graveyard to my hand! I'm choosing Pot of Greed!" I played.
"My Citadel gains another Spell Counter! And with Pot of Greed, it'll gain one more after that!" The growing look of unease on Ran's face was priceless, but unfortunately for her, wasn't done yet.
"What are you playing at?" Ran demanded.
"To uncover the secrets of magic, one must undergo intense study, don't you know?" I teased, which just made her angrier.
"I activate Spell Power Grasp! This card lets me place a Spell Counter one a card that can gain them! I choose my Citadel! Then, I can add another Spell Power Grasp from my deck to my hand, but I can't activate it this turn." I kept the Spell Counter train running.
"And since I activated a Spell card, it gains another counter on top of that!" At this point, the nearly entire tower was glowing.
"Now, I activate Upstart Goblin, which lets me draw a card, at the cost of giving you 1000 life points!" And the entire tower was now glowing bright green.
Ran: 5000
Yuji: 4000
"I activate the effect of Endymion, The Master Magician! By removing 6 Spell Counters from a Magical Citadel I control, I can Special Summon him from my Graveyard!"
A blue-skinned magician clad in black and gold robes adorned with purple gems appeared from the formerly glowing tower, a staff in his right hand, and a spell circle floating behind him.
Endymion, The Master Magician
Level 8
DARK, Spellcaster
2700 ATK / 1700 DEF
"That's what all this was for? A single monster?" Ran asked, incredulously.
"Not exactly, see, when Endymion is summoned this way, I get to add a Spell Card from my Graveyard to my hand. Come back, Pot of Greed!" I added the Spell back to my hand for the second time since my turn started, but held off on using it.
"I activate Monster Reborn, to Special Summon the Magical Marionette I discarded earlier in attack mode!" The puppet made its way onto the field, being held up by strings controlled by a cloaked figure floating above the field.
My Citadel started gaining counters again, which was perfect.
"Now, I activate Pot of Greed again!" My Citadel had two counters, which was all I needed.
"Magical Marionette also gains a Spell Counter whenever I activate a Spell Card and 200 ATK points for every counter it has!" Magical Marionette rose up to 2200 ATK points.
"Now, the stage is set."
"Finally!" Ran mocked. I'll admit, that turn took pretty long, but it was worth it to pull this off.
"I activate Breaker The Magical Warriors effect! By removing one Spell Counter from him, I can destroy one Spell, or Trap card on the field! I choose your face down card!" Ran was upset at that, and it was easy to see why.
Her face down was Regretful Rebirth, which would have let her bring back her Pinch Hopper after it was destroyed and let her get its effect off again while protecting her life points.
"Next, I activate Magical Marionette's effect! By removing 2 Spell Counters from it, I can destroy one monster on the field!"
"You only have one Spell Counter on it though!" Ran cried out, only to go still as the two counters on my Citadel vanished.
"Magical Citadel of Endymion lets me use its Spell Counters to get effects off!" I informed her.
"When Pinch Hopper is sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon one Insect type monster from my hand. Come! Resonance Insect in defense mode!" A bug with green wings came onto her field. It was a futile effort, but one I respected.
"Breaker, attack Ran's Resonance Insect!" The armored Spellcaster, cleaved the bug in two and it shattered.
"When Resonance Insect is destroyed, I can add one level 5 or higher Insect Type Monster from my deck to my hand! I choose Insect Princess!" Ran played, but it was too late.
Her entire field was open, and I had two monsters with over 2000 ATK points.
It was over.
"Endymion and Magical Marionette, attack her directly!" Magical Marionette sliced into Ran with its two swords while Endymion fired a blast from its staff, tearing Ran down by 4900 life points.
Yuji: 4000
Ran: 100
Seeing the relieved look on Ran's face at surviving almost made me feel bad about what I was going to do next, but the sheer joy I felt at the thought of completely turning her world upside down outweighed whatever feelings of guilt I had.
"Barely holding on, I see, but not for long!" I cackled, enjoying the way Ran paled.
Talk shit on me will you?
"I activate Poison Of The Old Man! This card lets me choose between increasing my life points by 1000, or decreasing your own by 800! I think we all know what comes next, don't we?" I gloated. "It's a shame to end the show so early, but I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror if I didn't give it my all in a duel, you see." I faux-lamented as Ran took 800 points of damage from the old man's poison, ending the duel in my favor.
Yuji: 4000
Ran: 0
+705 DE
+3800 DP
705? From an above average duelist like Ran? I don't think so. There's some fuckery going on here.
"And that's yet another win from Ra Yellow's OTK King, Yuji Rengoku!" Disa cheered into the microphone she got from… Somewhere as the crowd cheered. OTK King, though? I can't say I dislike it.
"That was a good match, that Pinch Hopper strategy you were aiming for was top notch." I praised Ran.
"Hmph!" Ran crossed her arms, "You weren't so bad yourself." Ran admitted, turning her head to hide the faint blush on her face, but ultimately failing.
"We should do this again sometime." Ran offered.
Ah, shit. Well, it's not like she isn't attractive, and she acts surprisingly cute when she isn't talking down to someone.
Now that I've decided to go with the flow, this arrangement isn't so bad. I get a harem, and because of magical bullshit, they'll be cool with it. Everyone wins!
"For sure." I turned to leave, "Later, Ran!" I waved as I made my way out of the arena.
+27600 DP
Holy shit, that's 20%? Damn, Disa and Masha must be loaded at this point.
Well, it's not like I'm hurtin' for cash either.
Yuji Rengoku
DE - 830(+50 per day, +50% DE)
DP - 481233
BP - 15/20 (1000 DE to upgrade)
Stars - 5 (8000 DE to upgrade)
Mind - 15

Chaos - 15
I get a DE boost now? Hell, I get patches now? Thanks, I guess? The DE boost will make upgrading my Star count even more worth it.
"Yo, Yuji!" Jaden waved me down as I was leaving.
"Me and Sy were gonna go out to celebrate his big win, you wanna come?" Jaden offered, Syrus nodding alongside him.
"Yeah, it'll just be us bro's! We were gonna go to a barbeque joint Jaden saw the other day!" Syrus gushed.
I had planned on going back to my dorm room to open up those packs, but that can wait.
"Sure thing!" I smiled, and the two Slifers cheered in excitement before dragging me off to the aforementioned barbeque joint.
We chilled out for a while, grilling our meat and shooting the breeze with each other. At some point, the two hit up their koala-like roommate, Hayato, and he came running at the mention of free food.
I decided to see what Bastion was up to, and he managed to pull himself away from his theorizing and nerd-work to chill out with us.
By the time we left, the sun was already down, and I was ready to get back to my dorm room for some well-deserved r&r.
I love hanging out with people, but I also value my 'me time', and I haven't been getting enough of that lately.
I took a quick shower and decided to hit the hay, but the three cases of cards I bought this morning caught my eyes.
I honestly forgot I bought those. Shit, now I won't be able to sleep until I crack them open.
'It would be for the best if you opened them, master. I sense a spirit within one of them, a Fusion monster even.' Endymion chimed in.
A Fusion spirit?
'Which box?' I asked Endymion, to which he pointed at the cardboard box containing the Fusion Force case I bought.
So it probably wasn't the spirit of Five-Headed Dragon, which was a bit of a bummer.
I might as well open everything I bought while I was at it.
Three boxes in, I had some pretty good pulls. I have 5 copies of King of the Swamp, two copies of Fusion Conscription, more Fusion Gates than I could count, hundreds of normal Fusion monsters and their materials, a few E-Hero fusions and their materials, two copies of Steam Gyroid that I'm sure Syrus would appreciate, and dozens of other cards I could trade around, or give to my friends.
I even got a Meteor Black Dragon, but sadly no Red-Eyes.
I pulled cards that were definitely anime only cards, like Assault Cannon Beetle, Firebird The Burning Skywing, Duke of Demise, and Horned Saurus, which were all great cards for the time period.
At some point, I even pulled the Darkflare Knight that I was looking for, and a Blaze Fenix in the same pack, but neither of those cards had a Duel Spirit lurking within them.
Finally, after 7 boxes and thousands of cards, I finally found the Duel Spirit I was looking for.
Fallen of Albaz
Level 4
DARK, Dragon
1800 ATK / 0 DEF
Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned (except during the Damage Step): You can discard 1 card; Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters on either field as Fusion Material, including this card, but you cannot use other monsters you control as Fusion Material. You can only use this effect of "Fallen of Albaz" once per turn.
What the fuck?
"When did 'Super-Poly, the monster' become a thing?" I asked aloud, in disbelief.
'Where did you learn that name?!' A loud voice demanded.
The spirit I just pulled materialized, and he didn't look happy. He looked like he was about my age, with dark skin and white hair, and a draconic look to him.
'I can use Duel Energy to create cards, Super-Polymerization is just one of the many cards I can create if I had enough power.' I informed him. Lying to a pissed off duel spirit is never a good idea, and I'm all about good ideas.
'Is that so, human?' Fallen inquired menacingly.
'Back me up, guys!' I implored my Duel Spirits.
Istanle materializing between myself and Fallen of Albaz was the Three Poker Knights, Battleguard King, who was forced to crouch down, Masked Knight LV7, Silent Swordman LV 7, Silent Magician LV 8, and Endymion.
Barbaros Ur, from my Skill Drain deck, and Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth from my Insect deck were too big to fit in here, so they materialized outside.
'It's true. His power over Duel Energy is what let him bring us over to the human world as his duel spirits.' King's Knight growled out, taking a threatening step forward, the rest of my spirits backing him up.
'Alright then, I'll tell you what;' Fallen bagan, and with a wave of his hand, a stack of cards materialized on my desk. 'I'll support you, for now, but in return, I want you to create Super Polymerization as soon as you can.' he Negotiated.
'I was already planning to do that, it'll take a while though.' I agreed, seeing no reason not to.
'Why do you want Super Poly so bad though? You can already fusion summon with an opponent's monster.' I asked, to which Fallen scoffed.
'My power is nowhere near that of Super Polymerization, despite our card effects being identical. I can only fuse myself with other beings, Super Polymerization can fuse worlds.' Fallen of Albaz let me know.
'I'm long past the point of caring about my own power, but it's the principal of the matter, you know? My entire existence was meant to mimic the power of Super Polymerization, so having the real thing close by would bring me comfort.' He revealed, dematerializing afterwards, no longer wanting to speak on the matter.
The rest of my spirits left soon after, no longer being needed.
Damn, that was a rush. I got more than 20 cards for the price of one! They're all amazing to boot!
Three of them were fusion monsters that only required Fallen of Albaz and one other monster that was meant to belong to your opponent.
Albion the Branded Dragon, which required Fallen of Albaz and a LIGHT monster, Brigand the Glory Dragon, which required a level 8 or higher monster, Titanklad the Ash Dragon, which needed a monster with 2500 or higher ATK, and Sprind the Irondash Dragon, who needed an Effect monster that was special summoned the turn you fused into it.
Fallen also gave me two spells and a trap, which all helped the Fusion summoning process immensely AND two copies of his own card.
I got a full playset of each, which I was definitely going to put into the Fusion deck I was going to make.
I finished opening the last few boxes of Fusion Force, getting some great cards out of it, and moved onto the two cases of Dragon's Flight I bought.
By the time I went to sleep it was 3 in the morning, but it was so worth it. I pulled 2 copies of Red-Eyes Black Dragon! The artwork was the dope fire-breathing one too!
That's not even mentioning the other amazing Dragon monsters and support I got. Screw spending time with friends and love interests, once I was done with my duel tomorrow, I was heading straight back here to do some deck-building!
-The Greatest Showman-
"And to commemorate the finale of our first Live-Stream, we have today's challenger for our OTK King, the Queen of Obelisk Blue herself! Give it up for Alexis Rhodes!" Disa cheered into the mic.
I wasn't going to build those decks today, was I?
Boom Bam Botta Bop Boomp... POW!
I bet you weren't expecting that cliff hanger, HUUUUUUUH?! Masha and Disa also got a bit of development this chapter. They're characters from the Tag Force games, so Google them if you want to know what they look like. I'm using their looks from Tag Force 5.
I hope I was able to sell the ludicrous amounts of money Yuji won by betting on Syrus. Duel Monsters is a very lucrative game if you can play it well. Duel Academy is also directly funded by Seto Kaiba himself, who payed no expense to develop the next generation of duelists and a fair few of those duelists come from wealthy families, so some of those kids were blowing stacks on bets, which meant the 50k Yuji dropped didn't affect the odds very much, if at all.
Fallen of Albaz is a thing in this fic, deal with it. Also, Yuji is now the proud owner of 2 Red-Eyes Black Dragons, and will be spiriting them up as soon as he can.
