Title: Cut Off

Reviews welcome.
Bobby Goren was absolutely stunned.
"You heard me, Goren," said Captain Danny Ross emphatically, "That's exactly the way it's going down. They are not letting him do it."
"But…but Jo…she…she did all this to gain his attention…"
"Declan Gage absolutely will not be allowed to interview his daughter as though she were any other serial killer. First, he is way too close to the crime; second, it would reinforce the killer's behavior to provide exactly what she wanted to achieve. The FBI is actually sending in someone to conduct her interviews. The Police Commissioner and the Chief of D's concur. "
"And, uh, you, Captain, do you concur?"
"My opinion was not solicited, Goren, but I do agree."
"Will Declan be allowed to see Jo at all?"
"Yes, on the normal family visitor basis, just like any other prisoner. I think there's already a betting pool going on whether or not he will even visit her, given that he's not allowed to be her interviewer."
"I…I wouldn't know which way to bet myself at this point, Captain."
"We all saw his total lack of concern for her when we thought she might have been in danger. It was one of the worst things I have ever seen in all my years on the force."
Goren just scrubbed his face with both hands.
"How is Eames feeling?"
"Uh..better, Captain, a little better every day. Her family is with her right now. Her sister brought over her nephew, Travis….the one Eames' was the surrogate for. Travis always has a calming effect on her."
"I understand that you are her primary caregiver at the moment, Goren."
"Yeah. And that's as much for myself as it is for Eames, sir. You know that we will both be visiting the department shrinks, separately and together."
"I understand. It's a good idea. And I heard what you did at her place...changing the shower curtain to glass sliding doors, changing the window curtains from the ones on rings to the ones without…oh, yeah, my wife called them rod pocket curtains. No rings," said Ross, "You're a good partner, Goren," as he patted him on the shoulder.
"It's…it's the least I could do. And I had lots of help from her brothers. Just trying to cut down on PTSD triggers."
"Goren, do whatever you can to encourage Eames to take her time coming back from this," said Ross as he ran to answer his office phone.
Wish me luck on that one. Eames hates being out on leave. She is chomping at the bit to come back.
Goren had been dodging phone calls from Declan Gage for several days. He wasn't sure if Gage had yet been advised that he would not be participating in Jo's interviews. That would be sure to generate another barrage of calls. If Gage thought that Goren had any influence in this area, then he was way off base.
I no longer give a damn about Declan Gage and his daughter. Not after what she did…what they did... to Eames..and to me. And I must agree with the FBI, the Commish and the Chief of D's. Dec's a part of this. He cannot be the profile interviewer here. His objectivity is non-existent. My only hope…my only goal…is to help Eames to recover, to return to normal, to be able to function as my partner.
God help us both.
FIN.
