Title: Just Friends

Summary: "Was it something I said?". Jack learns a valuable lesson.
Warnings: Usual disclaimer. The boys aren't mine. Another of my younger Jack who learns something from Bobby. I estimate Jack to be about 14, maybe 15.

Jack slammed the bathroom door shut, his cheek still reddish and smarting. He stared at himself in the mirror, fighting back angry tears and cursing softly under his breath.
Bobby opened the door, stepped in and closed it silently behind him. "What happened?"
Jack rubbed at his face irritably, hissing in pain as he rubbed too hard on one cheek.
"Nothing," he snapped.
Bobby folded his arms. "Uh huh. She do that?" he asked, his voice hard and rough.
Jack didn't answer, instead he turned the taps on and splashed water on his face.
Bobby sighed deeply before handing Jack a towel from the hook. "Look sweetheart, some girls just aren't good for you," he said as Jack wiped his face down.
Jack laughed harshly. "I broke up with her," he said a moment later.
Bobby blinked. "And she took it bad huh?" he said. Jack nodded. He gently poked his cheek and hissed again when it stung. Bobby pulled him close, wrapping his arms around him.
Jack squirmed at first before the steady beating of Bobby's heart calmed him. He relaxed slightly and leaned in closer, savoring the heat and the feeling that maybe he enjoyed being held by Bobby too much.
"She packs a mean punch," Jack mumbled into Bobby's shirt.
Bobby rested his chin on top of Jack's head, inwardly marveling at how tall Jack seemed now. 'Won't be much longer till he's taller than me,' he thought.
"What'd you say to piss her off so bad?" he asked. Jack smiled faintly.
"I asked her if she still wanted to be friends," he said quietly. Bobby snorted once before he began laughing in earnest.
"Good piece of advice? People hate that," he said between laughs.
"No shit," Jack muttered. 'She wasn't what I wanted anyway,' he thought as he held on to Bobby just a little bit tighter.
