Chapter One
Yuuichi stood at his window and looked out over the snow covered city. It had been 11 months since it all happened. 11 months since the loss of nearly everyone he cared about. Makoto died just before he made it to Monimi Hill. After that, Shiori died a week after her birthday from her illness, which caused her much pain near the end. Kaori was torn apart from her sister's death, that she disappeared.
When he discovered Ayu was at the hospital, he barely even made it through the doors as she passed away from her seven year coma. Akiko lasted a week and a half before the damage and pain from the car collision was too much. Nayuki completely shut herself off from everyone else. Yuuichi was unable to be with his parents because their jobs made them be on the move even more constantly.
The losses left him with only Mai, Sayuri, Jin, Mishio and Piro the cat. He continued to live with Nayuki, but it was hard for him to do so since Akiko's death. It's a wonder he did at all. It hurt him to see his cousin in pieces. But over time, he grew used to it.
It was December 17th, a week until Christmas. The city was once again covered in snow. Yuuichi was in the town looking for Christmas presents for Nayuki (Not that getting one for the blue-haired girl would matter, she never touched her birthday gift). He had already got Mai, Sayuri and Mishio giant stuffed animals, like what Mai had got at the beginning of the year on her birthday. It was just a case of finding something Nayuki would like, if she liked anything anymore.
The brown haired high-schooler turned a corner onto the same street where the vision of Ayu once stole Taiyaki on a regular basis. He thought of buying some, but decided not to. Instead, he proceeded down the street to drop the gifts he had already picked up at the house. He managed to make it to the park, when a blonde girl just smaller than him hit him head first, causing him to land on his back, but not without the girl going down with him.
'Ow!' Yuuichi exclaimed, trying to sit back up. 'Could you watch where you're going?!" he shouted at the girl, rubbing the back of his head, before getting a closer look at her. The girl looked back at him and jumped to her feet faster than Nayuki's reaction to Akiko's Jam. 'Sorry, Yuuichi-san!' She said, whilst bowing. 'I was running so fast I wasn't looking.' She continued, looking him in the eye, smiling.
'Ah, Sayuri-chan.' Yuuichi said, picking himself up off the snowy ground. 'Why was you running?' He asked, brushing some snow off him. 'I'm meant to be meeting Mai at your school right about now. I'm late!' Sayuri quickly replied. She jogged a couple of steps, before stopping. 'How about you come meet her?' She suggested.
Yuuichi looked between her and the gifts he bought. 'I need to take these home first.' He replied, gesturing towards the half-soaked stuffed animals. 'I'll come after though.' He continued. Sayuri smiled at him again. 'Sure! See you at the school!' She said before running again. Yuuichi waved to her before turning to the gifts. Then something dawned on him. "Wait…haven't they graduated from school? And did she even notice these?" he thought, reaching for the Panda of the three animals.
Author's end of chapter note – Sorry it seems to be half-assed. I did have trouble just trying to bring Sayuri into the story. Anyways, review away!
