Glow

Luz and Amity sit in the library together, reading the Good Witch Azura books in silence. Luz hasn't said a word since they sat down and it worries Amity. She knows Luz is hiding something and it makes her sad that she's not being honest with her about what's going on.

Amity puts her hand on Luz's, hoping this small gesture will help her realize she's safe to be honest with her.

Luz snaps out of the comfortable world she escapes to in her fantasy books and looks up at Amity. Just seeing the sad yet sympathetic look on her girlfriend's face lets her know it's time to talk.

"Okay, I promised I would be honest with you, so here's what's been going on. I've been having flashbacks again. That's why I've been zoning out and isolating. I guess I'm just scared and angry with myself. It's been two years. I should be moving on, but these memories keep coming back." Luz said.

Amity's relieved Luz is at least opening up to her, but it makes her sad to see her suffer alone when she has so much support.

"It's okay if you haven't moved on. With everything you've been through, it's understandable you would have flashbacks. I think it's best we try to figure out why. It's happening for a reason, so do you remember anything that might have triggered you?" Amity asked.

Luz thinks about this. She tries to remember when she started having flashbacks but it's all a blur. She wasn't fully present during that time, but she's starting to recall something significant that happened.

About one week ago, Luz remembers seeing the scar of the light glyph pattern on her wrist glow. It was brief, but for a moment it lit up. That's when the memories came flooding back to her. The flashbacks were so fast and emotionally overwhelming that she couldn't process them, so she shut down for a while.

Amity notices Luz starting to zone out again and puts her hand on her shoulder, trying to bring her back to reality.

Luz looks at Amity, a subtle fear behind her eyes, but she finds comfort in knowing she can tell her anything.

"I know what happened. My scar on my wrist started glowing about a week ago. That's when I started having flashbacks. I don't know why the light glyph activated after all these years, but it has to mean something." Luz replied.

Amity starts to put the pieces together, relieved to have an explanation.

"Maybe it has some connection to your emotions. Your reaction to your past trauma might have made it activate again." Amity said.

"If that's the case, why now? What if it's a warning sign that something's coming to hurt us again? I don't know if the glyph's power will work again, but I might have to…" Luz said.

Luz stops talking when she sees anger and sadness in Amity's expression. Tears welling up in her eyes as she runs out of the library.

Luz sits there in silence for a moment, but goes after Amity right away. She opens the door and sees Amity sitting in the same spot she was in when she zoned out and sits down next to her.

"I'm sorry Amity. I didn't mean…I know what I did to save everyone was risky, but if I didn't The Collector would have destroyed everything and everyone I love. I wasn't going to let that happen." Luz said.

"Luz, you almost died! You understand that, right? I watched you hurt yourself! I held you when you were dying and if it wasn't for Emira healing you just in time I would have lost you…Do you have any idea how it feels to watch the person you love be in so much pain? And now you're thinking about doing it again. It hurts…" Amity replied.

Luz takes a moment to take this in. She realizes she never cared if she lived or died, as long as the people she loves are safe her life didn't matter. She knows it's not healthy to think this way, especially since this mindset hurts not only the people she cares about, but herself on a deeper level.

At first, Luz doesn't know what to say since a part of her still believes what she did to save everyone was right. So she tries her best to put what she's feeling into words. Even if it's hard to hear, she knows deep down Amity would never judge her for how she's feeling.

"I understand I could have died. I was willing to do whatever it took to save you and everyone else and I would do it again. I guess I'm my own worst enemy in a way. I'm not surprised it hurts to love someone like me." Luz replied.

Amity looks at Luz, in tears and shocked she would say something like that. She loves her so much it makes her sad to know Luz feels this way about herself. Amity wishes she could see herself the way she sees her, but she knows it will take time for Luz to come to accept she needs to learn to love herself.

Amity takes a deep breath, wiping away her tears as she tries to be strong for Luz in this vulnerable moment.

"Luz, I love you no matter what and I admire your bravery and that you'll do anything to help the people you love. It's just hard for me to see you suffer. I know it's going to take time for you to heal and I'm willing to be patient. Just promise me you'll work on putting yourself first." Amity said.

Luz smiles for the first time in a long time. She knows Amity will always be here for her and that's enough for her to carry on, even in the darkest times.

"I promise. Thanks Amity, you always know the right thing to say." Luz replied.

With that, Luz and Amity hug, both tearful but relieved. It's been a long day, but they're glad they were at least able to talk about what they're going through.

Suddenly, they look at the sky and realize the sun's setting. Luz lays her head on Amity's shoulder while she wraps her arm around her and they watch it together.

With the peaceful scenery and warm colors of the sunset fading away, Luz and Amity enjoy this moment. Luz is finally feeling grounded again and although she knows this may just be the calm before the storm, she lets herself relax.

After a moment of tranquil silence, Luz realizes she needs to get home. She's been gone for a while and doesn't want Eda to worry. So she slowly starts standing up and helps Amity up too.

"I should really get going. I told Eda I'd let her know when I'm on my way home and it's getting late." Luz said.

"Yeah, I should probably get home too. I'm glad we could talk and remember I'm always here so don't be afraid to reach out." Amity replied.

Luz smiles and nods, the light slowly returning to her eyes as she starts to feel hopeful again.

Suddenly, a glow starts to appear through Luz's sweatshirt sleeve where her light glyph scar is. She rolls up her sleeve and is surprised to see her scar is glowing again but this time it's different. When she had traumatic flashbacks, it was glowing white but this time it's a bright yellow glow and she can't help but be curious as to why.

Amity looks concerned but she starts to calm down when she realizes the scar isn't hurting Luz.

"Why is your scar glowing like that? Are you okay?" Amity asked.

"Yes, I'm okay. I'm actually feeling much better after we talked. I guess it activates when I'm experiencing positive emotions too. Let me try something." Luz replied.

Luz closes her eyes and concentrates, trying to focus her energy on the lighter emotions she's feeling and channel it into creating something.

Suddenly, a floating ball of light appears in Luz's hand. She stares at it, shocked and amazed she's able to create magic on her own. A big smile comes across her face as this is the happiest she's felt in a while, tears of joy welling up in her eyes.

"Amity look! I can do magic! I can't believe it, this is amazing!" Luz said.

Amity smiles, watching her girlfriend shine again as she starts to come back to herself.

"I'm so proud of you, Luz. Even with all of the pain you've been through, you're still able to find light in darkness. You've got a gift." Amity replied.

Luz takes Amity's hand and they start walking back home together, letting her light lead the way. Amity walks with Luz to make sure she gets back to the Owl House safely and as they leave the town, they watch as the dark yet beautiful scenery of the forest passes them by.

Before they know it, Luz and Amity arrive at the front door of the Owl House. Then they look into each other's eyes and share a short but intimate kiss. They smile, their eyes illuminated by the small light glyph between them.

Luz looks out into the forest, she's doing better but can't help but wonder if there's still an enemy coming for them.

Amity notices this and takes Luz's hand.

"Amity, do you think we should be worried? What if the reason I started having those flashbacks is because there's someone or something coming to hurt us again?" Luz asked.

Amity notices Luz's light glyph starting to fade and tries her best to reassure her.

"Honestly, I don't know. But if there is some enemy out there coming for us, we'll face it together and we'll get through it. We always do." Amity replied.

Luz looks back at Amity and smiles, her light glyph glowing bright again. She doesn't know what the future holds, but she's ready because she knows she doesn't have to face it alone.
