I'm a member of the Denver Metro SWAT Team.
I was monitoring the radio inside my SWAT car, and I was aware of the shooting, almost immediately as it happened.
I get there and I see, Tommy O' Neal and Dan O' Srea, crouched down behind their cars.
They told me, the shooting was rampant and still going on, likely near the cafeteria.
I walk up the stairs near the west section of the school. (where it started.)
I see two bodies and they were right, next to each other. One guy. One girl. (Richard Castaldo and Rachel Scott)
The doors were wide open.
I saw a blurry shadow reflect off to my left, while I was observing the western side of the school.
He had his back turned me and immediately ran off, just before I could fire my gun at him.
I wouldn't see the figure again, for the reminder of the shooting.
At that point, I was still hearing gunshots, near the library.
Eric and Dylan attempted to shoot at the ambulances nearby that were rescuing injured students from the library outside.
I returned fire and aimed in the air, as an attempt to distract them.
By that point? More and more students were coming out of nowhere and racing for safety in the parking lot. Literally everywhere.
I opted to not go inside and just help the students, outside in the parking lot. I was alone by myself, anyway.
The SWAT team eventually regrouped and went inside.
