The one where Nana dies twice

It was Monica's day off work, she had planned to do laundry and help Rachel sort out her closet. Monica, who liked everything to have its own place in her home, decided to help Rachel. After all that's what she had been doing ever since that September afternoon when Rachel had run into Central perk. Monica knows she keeps a high standard when it comes to cleaniness and organisation. But that's what got her through High School losing all that weight, moving out from her parents house and what she thinks makes her a good chef.

Monica remembered doing the same thing when Chandler moved across the hall all those years ago. Organizing everything to give it a designated place in the apartment:

Chandler sighed when Monica carefully placed his books in alphabetical order. "Tell me why we do this again?" He asked when Monica reached down to pick up a book from Chandler's arms.

"So you can always find the thing you are looking for."

"But I always find the thing I'm looking for. I just pick up a sock or look under the bed or something." Monica pulled a disgusted face at him as she picked up another book.

"This is what grown ups do, Chandler."

"Huh.. I guess I'm not a grown up."

"That's why you have me. Besides, I need something else to think about. Ross got the job at the museum he interviewed for and my mom wants us to get out and celebrate tonight." Monica picked up yet another book but Chandler watched her face instantly change. He picked up the next book to hand it to her when she needed it.

"Hey, I might need…. uh some help getting something to wear to work. Something tells me I can't use the same clothes I wore at college." Monica smiled down at him silently thanking him for changing the subject.

"Deal!"

Her plans instantly changed when she and Ross got the call about their grandmother. Ross was right, it would be a long day and as they pulled away from their embrace Ross asked her to get the four of them coffee. He knew his sister needed to get away for a breather before approaching their mother again.

"How's Rachel doing, dear?" Judy spoke to Ross as he sat down next to Jack.

"She's doing great, Monica has helped her a lot to get settled." Ross knew Judy would listen to him.

"She's working at the coffee shop you´re always going to?" Jack crossed his arms in front of him as he looked at his son.

"Yes, Central Perk. We´re all thinking she´s doing great."

Monica walked along the corridor at the hospital to her parents and Ross with four take away mugs. "Thank you darling" Her mother smiled towards her as she took two of the mugs and gave them to Ross and Jack. Monica gave her mother an unsure smile back, Judy´s turn in her behavior makes Monica question whether it's not as bad between her and her mother as she thinks. She hated when her mother made her feel she isn't enough, when her friends always make sure she knows. A child should never feel anything but unconditional love from her parents. It's what Chandler always told her.

Monica knew Ross was feeling low because Rachel was constantly talking about Pablo, so when Judy asked him to help her out at Nana's house he jumped at the opportunity. Jack drove the family car to spend time with Monica so Ross could drive to Long Island.

The funeral had been beautiful, Monica sat between her parents and as she sniffed loudly at one point she felt Chandler's hand squeeze her shoulder. She had spent too much time between work and Long Island that she had barely had the time to spend time with him lately. She turned around to look at him, she gave him a sad smile and as she met Joey, Rachel and Phoebe´s eyes she almost felt like she could cry again. She knows her family loves her, but the other family she has in her friends is unconditional and they always remind her of that.
