We're back folks!
This chapter took a bit of time to come up with, but you'll see why soon.
"Is it just me or does it sound like we're talking to one person with our girls?" Spider-Man inquired.
"Yeah, did their vocal cords come from the same protein shake?" Maverick pondered on how MJ and Victoria sounds alike.
Anyway. This chapter is mostly inspired by the stealth missions from the 2002 Spider-Man video game (based on the movie). If any of you have played that game. Know that I won't include that giant robot fight. I felt that fight was too over the top even by Spider-Man standards and I like to keep it in style with the Spider-Man PS4 game. I hope you all don't mind.
"Oh thank God." Spider-Man sighed in relief.๐ฎ ๐จ
"Aw man..." Maverick sulked.
Also they will be breaking into a different company instead of Oscorp. Mary Jane and the Guardians will also be there to help out Spider-Man. I also gave that Doctor from the level Chemical Chaos a name, you know the one helped Toby McGuire's Spider-Man take care of Oscorp's secret project? I also gave him a little background history. I mean I tried lookimg up that doctor's name, but the internet can only tell you so much.
"Unless you're a Sony based trailer that likes to give away the ending." Maverick mused about Amazing Spider-Man 2. ๐
"Don't remind me." Spider-Man muttered.๐
Anyway, before we dive in. Let's answer some comments.
Guest: Thanks! I'm very glad you enjoyed it!๐
superkoola: I know! I'm glad to have made Sors and Kairi a couple. They needed each other after what happened to Riku, or what they think happened to Riku. But I didn't have the heart to keep them apart forever. So why not bring them together in the world and the week Peter Parker and Mary Jane got back together. If you saw the ending of the game, you'll know what I mean๐
olehbilenko93: Oh Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero back when I was a toddler. And you can bet your keyblade I am going to do him justice in this story. ๐
RustyPete12: Thank you! Oh yeah. I definitely wanted to deliver on that brief Squad villains cameo. It was an idea from a friend. And I couldn't resist๐ . Also yeah I wanted to include a little Deadpool humor but not too much to disrupt the style of this story. Especially since Maverick's character was inspired a lot by Deadpool. Also as for what the Dark Aether is. No its not an infinity stone. Don't worry, Doctor Strange will explain what it is in this chapter. But I'll give you a hint. It's inspired by a mystical artifact from another Spider-Man video game ๐
Alright. Now that we're all here!
LET'S GET DANGEROUS!๐
Breaking And Entering.
Inside the Sanctum Sanctorum...
Sora, Aiden and the Guardians were all sitting or standing around the fireplace in the Scantum upper study room where they had a good view of the tinted window in front of the building. Along with Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson who are also there listening as Doctor Steven Strange the Sorcerer Supreme explained the dire situation between AIM, Mysterio and the magic rock he took from the museum.
Doctor Strange was using mystical projections to show them images of what was taken and how it works as he displayed the Web Of Reality.
"For those of you who don't know, the Web of Realty, what we call the 'multiverse' , is made up of alternative decisions from the ones we made here. For example there's a world where I don't have a goatee and there could be a world where I switched places with Spark and he's in my position. Not that I would want his, I'm perfectly fine where I am here." Doctor Strange stated as he displayed the many Earths of the Marvel realities.
Like a convex mirror shattered into different moving images. Some of those images even had ones the Guardians have seen and Peter has never seen.
"Is that a...cartoon pig?" Peter inquired seeing a pig in a spider suit on one of the moving images.
"Don't ask." Doctor Strange deadpanned.
"Peter, we're already sitting next to three cartoons. I think the suspension of disbelief is already shattered." Mary Jane gestured to Donald and Goofy.
"Hey!" Donald and Goofy said at the same time.
"Who's the third?" Sora and Aiden inquired at the same time.
"I'm pretty sure she's talking about you." Kairi grinned at Sora while she was sitting next to him.
"I'd say you're more like a lost episode of Family Guy." Victoria remarked to Aiden.
"Wait wait wait, which season of Family Guy are we talking about here?" Aiden inquired.
While Doctor Strange was looking back and forth. As he was unamused by their lack of focus.
"Let's go with...Fourth season." Victoria picked.
"Ah oh okay I can take that." Aiden accepted humorously.
"Achem! Moving along?" Doctor Strange interrupted them.
"Sorry." Everyone said at the same time while they jerked their heads to look at the Sorcerer Supreme.
"Anyway. All of the worlds that are outside the Web Of Reality require a fundamental existence of Light and Darkness as a balance. Like the worlds these kids and their ToonTown interns came from."
"I am Groot~ I am Groot~" Baby Groot pointed and laughed at Donald and Goofy while singing 'nah nah' style.
"Ah Phooey." Donald grumbled.
"Ahyuck!" Goofy found it amusing.
"You all come from outside the Web of Reality?" Peter asked the team.
"Yeah. It's kinda complicated." Sora rubbed the back of his neck as he was nervous and didn't want to tell too much.
"We'll save that chat for another time. Anyway, the artifact Mysterio stole from the museum turned out to actually be a legendary artifact that's not of this universe called the Black Aether. It is meant to be the harbinger of darkness of all worlds outside the Web of Reality. With it, anyone with an evil heart will be drawn to the power of the stone. Gaining new and very frightening abilities." Doctor Strange stated as he displayed the rock Mysterio stole.
"And it was sitting in a museum instead of one of the Sanctums? Or any of the other mystical vaults in the universe?" Peter asked, looking confused on why it was there.
"The Dark Aether never had a display at the museum, so it wasn't supposed to be there. My guess is whoever put it there wanted Beck to find it." Doctor Strange figured.
"How did you know it wasn't supposed to be there?" Sora asked.
"Do you ever use the internet?" Doctor Strange inquired with one eyebrow raised.
"Doc, if I gave Spike here a computer mouse he'll use it as a hair brush. Him and computers don't add up." Aiden said humorously while Sora was giving Aiden a glare.
"Trust me. I've done the research." Kairi smirked as she remembered those days she used to help Sora on the internet when he got lost multiple times on how to use a search engine.
"So you're suggesting that someone else found the stone first and wanted Mysterio to have it?" Mary Jane asked Doctor Strange.
"It would appear so, whoever's behind this has a bigger motive than Mysterio." Doctor Strange Said while giving MJ an answer.
"Hmmmm...Maybe..." Goofy pondered for a moment.
"Got an idea on 'who' Goof?" Aiden asked, wondering what was on his mind.
"Well...If the Dark Aether is connected to the darkness of other worlds outside of these worlds. Shouldn't that mean that...Maybe..." Goofy was trying to say but couldn't find the right words.
"Maybe." Victoria was getting the idea. "Whoever found it is from outside the web. And used it to enter this world."
"Exactly." Goofy nodded.
"It's a bit of a stretch. I mean if he or she came from another world then why give to Mysterio of all people? Why not Osborn or Fisk? Maybe even some of the other antagonists like Loki or Doom?" Aiden was guessing.
"If he or she is listening. Let's not give any ideas." Peter suggested humorously.
"You're actually on to something. The Stone, believe it or not, actually came from the Land of Departure." Doctor Strange informed the Guardians.
Donald and Goofy gasped in shock.
"Shut the front door." Aiden said with eyes widened.
He read about that world.
"The what?" Sora inquired.
"Land of Departure? As in the former home of Master Eraqus?" Aiden wanted to be sure as he looked a little excited.
"You act like you've been there." Doctor Strange remarked.
"Doc. When all you ever do in between 'Eat. Sleep. Fight and Repeat'. Past times have their layers and for me reading is one of them. I read everything about that place. Even though the book has like 15 pages missing. That world was a legend." Aiden expressed.
The Maverick apparently doesn't know what happened after Master Aqua became a keyblade Master during the 'Mark of Mastery exam'.
"I hear ya." Doctor Strange grinned.
"Did you catch any of that?" Kairi whispered to MJ.
"Not a clue." MJ just shrugged in confusion.
"I've been a keyblade wielder for over a year now and even I'm not sure what they're talking about?" Sora whispered to Peter.
"What's there to know? the word 'It's Magic' is good enough to leave with." Peter shrugged in response.
"After whatever happened with that world and Master Eraqus' demise. The stone was pun intended 'Lost In Space'. Until now. " Doctor Strange stated.
"So in spite of it being at an Old Norse exhibit earlier. This thing has nothing to do with Thor?" Kairi asked.
"Not at all. If it did, he would've locked it in Asgard's vault inside of a tourist attraction." Doctor Strange answered.
"Like the Mask?" Aiden humorously inquired.
"Please don't." Victoria rolled her eyes and slapped her forehead.
"Okay so how do we find it?" MJ asked about the Dark Aether.
"We can't. But he can." Doctor Strange gestured to Sora.
They all looked at Sora as they knew what Strange meant by that.
"Wait, me?" Sora asked as he pointed his finger at himself.
"Your keyblade. The very thing that opened the pathways to other worlds and can open and close the hearts of all worlds. It can do a lot more serious badass magic than you can ever realize." Doctor Strange expressed as he sat on his chair and he looked at Sora while he asked Peter and MJ. "Could you two give us some privacy?"
"Go on ahead. We'll be with you all in a minute." Aiden assured them.
"Sure." Peter nodded as he and MJ stepped out of the room.
So they couldn't hear the details that could affect the world order.
"I also know about your comic book club. About how you and your friends know about all of us." Doctor Strange revealed.
The Sorcerer Supreme knows that he's a comic book character from his world. It's his job to know as much as possible.
"You do?" Sora asked as he and Kairi were surprised to hear that, which made him scoff.
"Sora. It's my job to 'literally' be a know-it-all, or at least as much as the cosmos can tell me." Doctor Strange gestured to himself. "I also know about your situation with that Goth Cult of Nobodies in those tacky black robes. Especially how they're collecting hearts from the Heartless you take down."
" Wow...You seem to handle it pretty well knowing that your fiction and all that." Sora said while he was surprised that the Sorcerer Supreme was aware of his comic book stories.
"Son. We all are probably fiction in some worlds more than most. But we are real. I am very real as much as you are. And the danger of what the Organization wants is real as well." Doctor Strange stated and assured. "But there is a way out of it."
The magic Doctor was starting to give Sora hope.
"Ok Doctor, we're listening." Sora said while putting his hands behind his head as he relaxed knowing that he doesn't have to keep the comic book side a secret.
"Now. First things first. Peter doesn't know about his whole fictional franchise and I'd like to keep it that way." Doctor Strange stated.
"Don't worry we kept the same secret from the Avengers." Aiden assured.
"We're in agreement." Sora nodded.
"Alright. Also, You will need two things for all of your keyblades. Number one, the Dark Aether. Skipping over the multi selective details on metaphysics. The stone can absorb the hearts of any heartless you gain for a certain time before it's released back to the light where it came from." Doctor Strange stated.
"And the second thing?" Sora asked as he looked only a little confused on how he explained the way it works.
"The second part is also where you need to start. The Dark Aether is too dangerous for anyone to use or keep without a second element that can serve as a protective casing. And right now there is only one element in the known Multiverse that can be used." Doctor Strange stated.
"And that is?" Sora asked.
"It's locked inside the AIM research facility in the Flatiron District. Look for the office of someone named Doctor Samuel Rue and use this keycard to access his computer to find it." Doctor Strange snapped his finger to summon a keycard and handed it to Aiden.
"How will we know when we've found the second element and not the secret formula for Grape Crush?" Aiden inquired as he received the card.
"Peter will know. Make sure he's with you when you're there. And don't get caught." Doctor Strange revealed and advised.
"That won't be too hard." Aiden said as he got up and stretched his back making a pop sound.
"It's AIM. I can't even sneak in with all the power I have. They have adaptoids that can scan any power. Magic or science they can harness both to shoot back at all of you. Wong nearly lost two of his students who tried to sneak in." Doctor Strange informed them. "I'm serious when I say don't get caught."
"I know, we won't let our guard down, I promise." Aiden ensured.
"I'll make sure he means it." Victoria added, knowing Aiden will most likely cause more trouble than Spidey most if not all the time.
"We won't let you down Doctor." Sora promised as he and the team stood.
"I know." Doctor Strange smiled and nodded. "Good luck Guardians."
Doctor held one important detail because he knew they would tell Peter about it. Knowing what took place, he needed to withhold the info of what this 'second element' is. For now, they needed to focus on getting in there.
Once the Guardians walked out of the study room and went downstairs to the Sanctum lobby to join Peter and MJ who were there waiting for them. They came back with an idea on where to go next.
"Any luck?" Mary Jane asked.
"Yeah. We need to head to the AIM research lab in Flatiron." Sora told them.
"That's of a tall order Kid. The security in that place is far worse than what Oscorp and EA games can afford." Peter stated.
"Worst as in shitty or worst as in tight?" Aiden asked.
"Does it matter?" Victoria sarcastically.
"Alright. But we really do need to get into AIM's lab or Mysterio turn the Multiverse into an I.R.S. parking lot." Aiden suggested.
"I am Groot." Baby Groot said as he raised his tiny hands saying he'd go with the first option.
"Listen. Finding the stone is not that simple. We need a secret 'second element' to contain it. Otherwise it will spread darkness throughout the world if we're not careful." Victoria stated to Peter and MJ.
"Which means we have to make an unannounced visit to AIM in order to find the second element." Kairi agreed.
"Donald. Goofy. Stay here and see if you can help Doctor Strange in finding Mysterio." Sora told his two buddies.
"You got it." Donald and Goofy gave him a thumbs up.
"The rest of us are going. And we could really use Spider-Man's help to make things easier." Sora stated to Peter.
"Are you in too April O'Neil?" Aiden asked MJ using a little quip.
"Heh, please." Mary Jane scoffed as she cracked her knuckles stating that she's in.
"Alright if she's in. Then so am I. I can't let the lady take all the glory." Peter sighed and shrugged.
"I resent that." All the ladies in the room responded.
"Anyway. Here's the plan on how we're getting in." Peter started as they listened.
They can only hope that this stealth mission goes well.
Later at the AIM research building plaza...
Mary Jane and Kairi walked inside the main Plaza of the AIM building. Kairi had her hood on as she held the need to be stealthy already.
"Ma'am do you and the little girl have a visitor's pass?" The desk lady asked.
"Little?" Kairi muttered while looking offended.
"Yeah we do." Mary Jane showed the lady their passes which were also provided by Doctor Strange.
"Alright. enjoy your tour at AIM." The lady allowed them to enter.
"Thanks." MJ thanked the lady as she and Kairi entered. And she said quietly to Kairi. "Stick with me. I've done the whole stealth thing many times."
"Got it. But what are we looking for again?" Kairi asked as she needed to be reminded. "Spidey was a little hard to follow when he explained the tech.
"The access to AIM ventilation security. The boyz in tights can't enter unless we can turn it off." Mary Jane explained it a little bit better as they were walking through the plaza and the fancy indoor water fountain. "Access to the security grid is on the 15th floor, and they need to enter the 30th floor through the air vents outside."
"Okay." Kairi understood.
Mary Jane then found an entrance to the stairs with an electric lock.
"Can your keysaber unlock that door?" MJ whispered to Kairi.
"Keyblade actually, but yeah." Kairi nodded.
"Alright. Wait by the door. I'll create a distraction for the guards." MJ stated as Kairi nodded and MJ went off to the public restroom.
Mary Jane took one of Peter's Spider Lures that he lended to her a while back and she went into the ladies room. There was a security guard standing by the mens room talking on the phone.
"I'm telling you man. That tuna salad I got from the vending machine does not agree with my stomach. AIM needs to stop getting its lunch stock from a Jersey deli." The guard spoke on the phone.
***Bleep! Bleep!***
"Huh? Oh give me a second Troy." The guard placed his call on hold as he heard a weird sound from the ladies room.
The guard walked inside and found a small red device under the sink, which was a Spider Lure and the guard didn't even know it. While MJ was hiding in one of the bathroom stalls. She was about to use her stun gun to knock him out. But then the guard's stomach started to grumble.
"Oh God..." The guard wheezed as he ran for a nearby toilet and started to puke.
"Ugh." MJ winced and reeked at the sight.
But then Mary Jane realized this was a better plan. She went outside and went over to the three guards who were patrolling near the stairs entrance.
"Hey I need your help. A guard is spewing his guts out in the ladies room. I think I saw blood!" MJ pleaded.
"Ah damn it Steve." The guard groaned and nodded. "We're on it Ma'am."
Then the guards ran for the bathroom. And MJ smirked as she ran back to meet up with Kairi at the stairs entrance.
"Alright the coast is clear. Work your magic." MJ whispered to Kairi.
Kairi nodded and quickly used her keyblade to unlock the door by pointing at it. The beep was heard on the door and it opened automatically.
"We're in." Kairi said to the team on her ear peice.
Now it was time for phase two of the plan.
A few minutes earlier outside the building...
Spider-Man was Hanging upside-down on the side of the building with Armored Sora who was using his free flow abilities to stand on the side of the walls while pacing and Maverick who was hovering. And Blaze who also was hovering and Baby Groot was sitting on her shoulder admiring the New York city view.
They had just seen Kairi and Mary Jane head inside, obviously the guards won't become a misery. But it's also thanks to Maverick who held an empty tube of his Uncle Kristoff's leftover flammy stew, which he slipped into the Guard's tuna salad just half an hour before they were ready to go inside.
AIM really should close their windows in the cafe.
The heroes were passing the time by listening to the radio as Sunflower by Post Malone was playing on the radio.
Suddenly when the music ended early, the intro for 'Just The Facts' started on the radio.
"Great..." Spider-Man sarcastically hung his head back and quipped. "It's Rantus Canspirus."
"Welcome to Just The Facts with J Jonah Jameson."
"AKA. The infamous Mustachio Bitch-N-Moano." Aiden said in annoyance.
"Oh great." Armored Sora groaned. "I hated reading about him in the com- I mean newspapers."
"Just when the music was about to start." Blaze groaned and crossed her arms.
"Today we're going to be talking about un-national history. And by that I mean the Museum of actual National History. A place of education, that is a monument to the real heroes and villains and of course the Dinosaur fossils that inspire real special effect artists that didn't rely on cheap effects back in my day. But I digress!"
"I bet back in his day the dinosaurs were alive." Armored Sora snickered as Maverick smirked and fist bumped him.
"The reason I bring theses topics up is because Quinton Beck AKA Mysterio the armature Wizard of Oz, tried to rob the National History Museum's Old Norse exhibit while Spider-Man decided to swing in and desecrate all of the vikings hand me downs while escalating a brawl between Beck and some weird alien tourists, who either look like Sailor Moon joined the Power Rangers or IronMan was banished to Deviantart. And this guy calling himself Maverick is no exception. Who is he under that mask? James Garner?!"
"Blow me Moe Howard's deadbeat uncle." Maverick glared at the radio.
"Since when does Jonah watch anime?" Armored Sora inquired.
"Who knows what ranting old bags do to blow off steam?" Spider-Man quipped with a shrug.
"I can think of three good answers." Blaze grinned.
"And to think. This would've ended better as always. If Spider-Man and his Un-amazing Co-workers just left it all for the police. Or even Thor! THOSE WERE HIS MONUMENTS AFTER ALL YOU HEAR ME MENACE! AND YOU HUMAN GLOW STICKS?! YOU ARE ALL ANGLO SAXONS!...What?! That's not politically correct Jared! I was making a historical reference! Do you ever play Assassin's Creed?!...NO I DON'T PLAY VIDEO GAMES, MY SON DOES!"
Then the Just The Facts show ended.
"Holy frick balls. That guy's worse than a condescending baptist YouTuber." Maverick exhaled listening to him.
"What can I say Mav. If you get hooked with in the web, J Jonah Fudd will hunt down all us Hewos together." Spider-Man quipped doing a little Elmore Fudd impression.
"He better be glad he directed his best insults to us and not just Victoria. God have mercy on the dumb ass if he makes one small statement about her." Maverick remarked and shook his head.
"He's speaking from experience." Blaze smirked, gesturing to Maverick and the times he made her mad.
"I am Groot?" Baby Groot asked.
"No I'm positive that 'Sailor Moon' jab was probably Kairi. She does make pink look better." Blaze answered Baby Groot.
"Yeah, my girlfriend knows how to...Oh crap." Armored Sora's eyes widened as he realized he just said 'girlfriend'
In front of Maverick and Blaze. Who were smirking like no tomorrow. Thankfully Kairi called in their earpieces to talk before they could say anything to Sora.
"We're in." Kairi stated.
"Alright girls. Stark told me and Aid a bit about AIM's security measures." Blaze said to Kairi and MJ on their earpieces.
"We're supposed to be heading to the main security server room right?" Kairi asked on the earpiece as she and Kairi were jogging up the stairs.
"Yes but getting inside the room is a huge chore because it requires a special code to open it. IronMan told us that not one person who works there has the whole code, which is why only three guards can operate it inside. You can find pieces of the code on some of the computers around the work desks when you reach the 14th floor." Blaze answered. "Be careful. Stay of the spotlights from the security cams and make sure the guards don't see you."
"This isn't my first rodeo kid, trust me. We won't get caught." Mj said to blaze as she and kairi climbed up the stairs.
"What does 'first rodeo' even mean?" Maverick inquired as he heard that word a dozen times. Even he used it several times.
"If you figure it out. Let me know." Spider-Man responded humorously. "I can enigma codes faster than old 50s military slangs."
"Slangs?" Maverick said as he looked at Spidey thinking that only old people can say that word.
Back inside the AIM building...
MJ and Kairi peaked through a door and saw some cubicle computer desks around the working area. Thankfully no one was at work today. Except for a guard patrolling each area and some security cameras. The entire floor had about six computers set up, surrounded by countertops making cubicles for people to work in. On the other end of the office, was a stairway that led up to another office. The good news was the entire floor was closed for today so the lighting was dim with the exception of a few cameras with spot lights. The bad news was the entire floor was being patrolled by AIM guards. And if they manage to raise an alarm if they're spotted than the heroes will be out of luck.
The girls couldn't let them be seen.
"Here, Tori gave me these." Kairi handed MJ a small device before she shifted into her armored form. "Clip it to your jacket like a button."
"What can it do?" Mary Jane asked Kairi as she put the device on her jacket.
"This." Armored Kairi pushed her button and she turned invisible in front of MJ as she explained how it works. "You can only stay in stealth mode for thirty seconds. After that it needs a five second recharge. But if someone sees you it won't work on them. But don't worry. It has a beeper linked to your earpiece to let you know if a guard is nearby."
"Woah. You kids thought of everything." Mary Jane grinned as she was impressed before she went over the next step of the plan. "Alright, I'll take the left section while you cover the right section for us to find the code."
"Alright." Kairi nodded before she cloaked herself and went down the right wing.
MJ cloaked herself and looked around the empty cubicles to find a working computer on. Soon MJ found one on and waited for the guard nearby to walk away before she went over and found a code on file. She downloaded it to her gig stick and pulled it out before leaving.
"Hmmm...Kairi. I found only one fifth of the total pass code. We'll have to find four more pieces." MJ whispered to her earpiece as she hid behind a corner and waited for another guard to pass.
"Ok." Kairi said as she's making sure there are no more guards passing by.
Kairi then used her freeflow abilities to avoid the cameras and spot lights as she twirled in the air and looked down to find a working computer. She found one in a cubicle as she landed and cloaked herself as she inserted her gig stick and downloaded the code piece on it.
"Two down, three more to go MJ." Kairi whispered in her earpiece before getting out of there.
"I'm almost there." Mary Jane whispered in her ear piece as she types the codes on the computer.
But then MJ noticed the computer had nothing left one it.
"Ugh. I guess these computers have only one code each." MJ whispered. "I'm going to find another computer. You do the same, Kairi."
"Got it." Kairi whispered then she warned. "MJ, don't go into the conference room down stairs. They have adaptoids in that room." Kairi warned Mj.
"Good call, thanks Kairi." Mj thanked her before sneaking over another area to find a computer.
Mary Jane then found one in a cubicle past two guards standing next to a water cooler chatting. She used the cloak device and took thirty seconds to toss a Spider Lure into a nearby trash can
"What was that?" The first Guard asked.
"Let's take a look." The other guard responded as they walked away.
Then MJ snuck over to the computer and downloaded the third one.
"Alright, that's three." MJ whispered before she cloaked again and snuck away.
"Good. We're more than halfway there." Kairi whispered back
Kairi flipped and spun around some ceiling fans. and used her magic freeflow ability to avoid several guards below until she cloaked and found a fourth computer. She hacked it and got the fourth piece.
"We just need one more MJ. Can't get caught now." Kairi whispered and cautioned.
"I know." Mj whispered and assured kairi that they got this.
MJ looked over to the other side and saw that there were no guards over in that area. She snuck over and found one last computer. But once she made it, Mary Jane heard another guard coming down the hall.
"Alright Sharon. I'll shut your computer down for ya." A guard said from across the room.
Which means he was about to shut down the one computer MJ needs. Without hesitation Mary Jane typed on the computer and got the last code on the flash drive. Then at the last second she cloaked herself and got out of the way of the guard.
Once she was out of there MJ whispered. "Alright, that's all of the code pieces."
"Good. We should be able to get the main server door open." Kairi whispered back as she and MJ made their way out of their and back to the stairs together.
"Pete, we got the codes and were heading for the security room. Be ready to head inside." MJ spoke to Spider-Man on his mask earpiece.
"Got it." Spider-Man said as he got ready to head inside in the vents.
MJ and armored Kairi went up the stairs and made it to the 15th floor. They saw five guards in front guarding the security room entrance.
"Great." MJ hissed in frustration seeing the guards. "I wish UPS trucks had this kind of security.
"Tori. We need your help. We've got some guards in front of the security entrance." Kairi whispered on her earpiece
They knew these guards had to be taken down fast so they didn't have time to call in an alert. And Blaze is an expert in taking folks down fast.
"Already on it." Blaze said as she found a way inside and went to stealth mode.
There was a sound of electric circuits breaking and the lights flickered off around the guards.
"What the?!" One of the guards inquired.
Then a quick zap of lightning caused the guards to spin around the room. Before they could even scream. Blaze came in and struck them down with an electric multi stealth takedown, knocking the first guard down with a thrusted uppercut punch and a spin kick knocked the second guard down. A thrusted finger strike to the side of the fourth guard knocked him out and then she grabbed and slam the last guard down. Which felt like a few seconds when she took them all down.
"Alright it's clear." Blaze called MJ and Kairi over as she shifted back into Victoria.
Mary Jane was impressed by how fast Blaze worked on those guards while they made their way to her.
"You think that you can teach me how you did that without the lightning part?" MJ asked Tori.
"Only if you know how to conserve electrolytes and save the harder strikes for your boyfriend." Victoria stated humorously with a wink before she received the codes from them and began hacking the door.
"You know that we can hear you right?" Spidey and Mav said it at the same time as they entered the door.
"We know." Victoria and Mary Jane answered at the same time.
Mary Jane wanted to respond that Peter's not her boyfriend. But they had gotten a lot closer after the Devil's Breath affair. Their previous break up felt like a thing in the past. So Mary Jane just went along with it.
"Open says a Blaze." Victoria mused as she hacked the door open and they went inside while they dropped the KO'd guards inside as well.
"We can use the stairs to head outside, we'll monitor what's going on from outside the building." Kairi stated.
"Good. The lighting in this place makes my skin crawl. And not in a good way." Mary Jane criticized AIM'S dim light designs around the building.
"Alright Spidey, Larry and Curly. You're entry should be open...Now." Blaze stated as she hacked the ventilation system. She even blocked any extra security from making a check notice on the vents so they can half a way out.
Back outsideโฆ..
"Wait a sec, which of us is Larry and which one is Curly?" Armored Sora asked.
The energy field over the air vent finally powered down due to the girls' work.
"Dibs on being Larry." Maverick mused as he and Spider-Man went into the air vent.
After all, Larry was considered the smarter Stooge.
"Dang it." Armored Sora grumbles to himself as he's stuck as Curly.
Armored Sora, Spider-Man and Maverick were crawling through the air vents. While Baby Groot hanged by the vent entrance to enjoy the view. Which Maverick figured it would be better because he'd rather his little friend not get himself in trouble in a place like this.
"What's that smell?" Armored Sora inquired about the odor in the vents.
"I don't know? AIM Casual Friday and the washer wasn't working well for their cheap socks?" Spider-Man inquired.
"It's Monday." Maverick deadpanned.
"Meatloaf Monday then. Only they got it from India and reheated it in someone's power converter. By that I mean toaster oven." Spidey quip.
They convert their power cells with toaster ovens? No wonder the Avengers have no trouble whooping their Nine to Five asses." Maverick quipped with him.
"Then it will be a Sunday Breeze for us." Armored Sora responded.
"Unless the security adapt bots are like Jahovah's Witnesses selling Yoga videos." Maverick remarked.
"Or hugs." Spider-Man shivered at the thought.
Then they looked below the vents and saw some doctors talking inside of an information room. Entirely metallic which let them know they were one the right floor.
"What is it?" Armored Sora asked from behind them.
"Shhh...We found Samuel Rue." Spider-Man whispered as they listened in.
The other guy in the room with Dr. Rue was someone who used to work at Oscorp years ago until Norman Oscorp laid him off. Now this guy named Dr. Frank Tanner now works for AIM as a tech manager in the facility for Dr. Rue.
Spider-Man went in to get a closer look by zipping upside-down like a spider.
"I love it when he does that." Maverick whispered at the old upside-down Spidey trick.
"I know right?" Armored Sora whispered as he felt just as thrilled.
"I'm concerned about this project, Dr. Rue. The city doesn't even know that we're working on this here." Dr. Tanner stated to Rue. "And any sort of accidental release could lead to terrible casualties."
"Listen Martha Steward. Those are the kind of thoughts you best keep to yourself. There isn't going to be an accidental release." Dr. Rue denied Tanner's concerns sarcastically before walking out. "Now do your job."
With Samuel Rue gone. Spider-Man decided to speak to Dr. Tanner personally by zipping down further to face him which startled the dejected Doctor.
"So. What are you 'insurance labels' cooking up here?" Spider-Man asked.
"I think the words you were searching for are 'What's cooking Doc?' " Maverick mused as he climbed down. to join Spidey with Armored Sora.
"Tomato tomahto." Spidey swayed his hand and looked at Dr. Tanner "You were saying?"
"I swear I didn't know AIM even had a chemical weapons division! You all have to believe me!" Dr Tanner reacted in a pleading tone as he confessed.
"Chemical weapons?! That's like the seven deadliest sins of all science." Spider-Man sounded alarmed.
"Is that bad?" Armored Sora asked.
"Spike. Weaponizing chemicals is like turning the Black Plague into a firecracker." Maverick stated in sarcasm.
"You had me in Black Plague and firecrackers." Armored Sora said while still confused about the chemical parts.
"Ugh you're killin me Smalls!" Maverick slapped his forehead and exhaled before explaining it better. "Look it's simple. Remember that Chasm of Death back in Agrabah and what those fumes did to us? Or even the flammable mist back in Hades' underworld. Picture those things but as an arsenal of weapons."
"Ohโฆ. Yeah, that's bad." Armored Sora said in realization of what Mav was talking about.
"There's nothing I can do. The research is too heavily protected." Dr. Tanner stated why he can't stop AIM'S chemical weapons project himself.
"That's where we come in. These foreign exchange heroes and I will take care of those chemicals. Just tell us what to do." Spider-Man offered to stop the chemical weapons with Armored Sora and Maverick agreeing.
"It's very complicated, so for now just find one of the control rooms that oversees injections into the central vat. I'll use this radio to communicate with all of you once you get there. Be careful." DR. Tanner told them.
"We will Doc." Armored Sora nodded as the others agreed.
Then the heroes went for the door and Maverick scanned for the guards that were patrolling through the lab. The laboratory corridor was large with several different paths to take, and on one wall was a computer panel. On the walls were yellow labels leading up to the AIMs logo.
Spider-Man zipped to the ceiling while Armored Sora went into stealth mode and used his freeflow to run along the walls and navigate. Maverick hovered around the ceiling until they found the door leading to the secure labs. They went over as the next hall was littered with flashing laser security.
"Easy guys. Those lasers will cooks us like gnats in a giant bug zapper if we touch them." Spider-Man warned Maverick and Armored Sora.
"We know how lasers work, Spidey." Maverick said.
"Well he knows, I on the other hand, in between fifty-fifty." Armored Sora said while saying that he doesn't know much about lasers.
"Just like Tiger Woods' love life. Anyhow." Maverick mused as he stepped forward and projected clear ice shields to block the lasers from their base beams. "Alright let's roll."
Spider-Man and Sora nodded as they quickly went with Maverick through the laser wall corridor and found a section with three doors. One big glass steel door led to a big room and in between the big door were two small steel doors which had different labels on them.
"Spider-Man, that's one of the control rooms." Maverick whispered as they stayed on the ceiling to avoid the guard patrolling the area and the spot light cameras.
"Got it." Spider-Man flipped over to open the door to the right and they all entered in the room.
The control room had a large window at the front side of the room, and on the other side of the glass were eight large chemical containers with an injection shoot on the left aide for injecting the containers. The containers had a metal crane claw to operate the containers and in the corner of the room was a computer setup with several screens.
"We're in Doc." Sora spoke to Dr. Tanner on his earpiece as the others listened in.
"Alright listen carefully. There are four control rooms like the one you're in that controls chemical injections into the central vat. There are also blank slate cleansers that act as an eraser made of bleach to clean out every drop AIM has. But a word of caution. You all will have to activate them in the correct sequence. Or you will release the chemicals." Dr. Tanner explained how it works.
"Definitely something we all have to avoid. The world is bad enough dealing with high-fructose corn syrup." Spider-Man agreed with the doctor while making a quip.
"And podcast hosts with Hitler mustaches." Maverick added humorously about J Jonah Jameson
"After you activate the cleansing chemical injectors in the first two control rooms, you'll have to go into the central chamber and start the injection process. Then go back and repeat the process for the last two control rooms." Dr. Tanner informed them.
"Uh, Mav, could you translate what he just said, cause I'm at a loss." Armored Sora said as Maverick gave him a 'really' look.
"I'd take he's the doer and you're the thinker?" Spidey inquired as he began typing on the computer terminal.
"You have no idea. Spike can't even use a computer mouse to save his life or search where to buy band-aids." Maverick quipped in a teasing tone.
"You know that I'm standing right here." Armored Sora stated to Spidey and Mav that he's in the same room as they are.
"Your point is...?" Maverick mused while Armored Sora rolled his eyes.
"That's one room. Let's head to the next one." Spider-Man stated as he and the two keybladers left with him.
Somehow despite the cameras moving rapidly with their spot lights. Spider-Man, Armored Sora and Maverick managed to make it to the second control room.
"I'd say this is a walk in the park but even parks at night can be pretty tense in the wrong neighborhood." Spider-Man mused as he was typing to activate the chemical injectors and selecting the cleansers.
"A walk in the park? Try walking in the woods at night. Or a savage jungle. Personally, the worst was the hotel I stayed at during Halloween." Maverick stated while they waited for Spider-Man to finish.
And Sora was on look out
"Hey guys, do you ever wonder why would someone go through the trouble to place the Dark Aether in a museum? I mean, they could've just used it for themselves, so why do it?" Armored Sora asked Spider-Man and Maverick.
"I've been wondering that myself." Spider-Man wondered as well in agreement as he was typing.
"Strange had a theory that maybe whoever found it wanted Beck to have the Dark Aether." Maverick remembered hearing.
"AIM I can somewhat understand, Baron Mordo, obviously, but Quinty? Of all the evil magic users, they choose him for the Dark Aether? Something's not right or my name is Andrew Garfield. And it's not." Spider-Man said as he kept typing on the computer.
"Mmh..." Maverick stiffed a laugh hearing that as he cleared his throat. "Whew. Is the strong AIM cocktail fumes getting to anyone else or is it just me?"
Armored Sora was just as blown away Spider-Man could make that comparison on his own. But he didn't say anything to blow their 'world order' cover.
"Maybe just you." Armored Sora said as he's still on look out.
"Alright. Let's head for the chamber." Spider-Man stated as he finished activating the second control room.
Then they got out of there as they made sure the camera spot lights and guard wasn't looking when they stood in front of the large door to the central chamber. It opened on its own as they quickly went inside.
The chamber was hexagonal in shape, with a hexagon shaped wall with a lower floor on the inside of the structure. There were two terminals connected on both sides. And at the center was a shining light sparking and glowing from the power source.
"Hey Doc? There are two control terminals here, which one do we use?" Spider-Man asked Dr. Tanner from the earpiece.
"Hmmm...I'm not sure. Look around. Maybe there's something near the terminal that will help." Dr. Tanner answered from the earpiece.
"Maybe we should use the one that has the same symbols of those first two control rooms?" Armored Sora guessed seeing the info above the terminal on the right which had the same logos from the first two control rooms.
"Yes! That's the one you'll have to use." Dr. Tanner confirmed.
"Good eye Sora." Spider-Man grinned as he went over to activate the injection process.
"See? You're not a total loss with technology. You should be careful how to talk about yourself." Maverick stated like he wasn't the one who used that 'computer mouse' remark.
"Rightโฆ.." Armored Sora muttered sarcastically while still on look out.
Then suddenly two giant mechanical injectors above the team extended and connected into the main chemical vat.
"Alright. That's two. The last two control rooms are deeper into the facility. Be careful. Security will be tighter than before." Dr. Tanner told the team from their earpieces.
"Thanks for the heads up Doc." Spider-Man said as he went to the final control room.
Spider-Man, Maverick and Armored Sora snuck through the corridors of the first section of the Chemical research facility. The storage room had lasers all over the synthetic shelves near the entrance to the second wing of the Chemical Weapons operation. It was like some crazy obstacle course on a game show. If losing would get you killed like at a Roman gladiator arena.
Maverick managed to summon many different solid ice disks to block the laser projectors so that he and the others could go through the next exit.
Once the team made it down the next hall without being caught. Spider-Man found the third control room and they went inside.
While Spider-Man was working on the terminal to activate the third control room, Maverick was standing by and Sora was on look out.
"You know. I've been thinking." Maverick pondered on what they were talking about earlier.
"About?" Armored Sora asked.
"Given that all Mysterio could ever do is be an evil-er version of Steve Jobs. With no super powers or a lasting style like the Joker. Then really what good is that media groping glory stalker for?" Maverick pondered.
"I don't know. An evil sidekick? A henchman?" Armored Sora shrugged and figured.
"Well Misty's golden life is to get all of the attention like he's a magician's Real McCoy. But he doesn't have any real magic." Spider-Man stated while he was working on the control room terminal.
"Unless...Aid, didn't Doctor Strange say something about-" Armored Sora almost asked when they heard the control room activate.
"Sorry guys. To be continued on the upcoming shocker. Not to be confused with Schultz." Spider-Man suggested that they wrap up this chemical weapons situation.
"Right. One more room to go." Armored Sora agreed as they left.
This was feeling like this was about to become an easy last task like the last two. Even the security as tight as it was, wasn't as hard as they thought. That is until Spider-Man went over to open the door to the last control room. And for some reason,
it couldn't open.
"Huh? Crap it won't open ." Spider-Man hissed as he tried using the panel.
"Let me try." Armored Sora tried pointing his keyblade but the flash of light did nothing. "It won't budge."
"AIM's prepared for magic. Their dealings with Thor made them take precautions." Spider-Man told Sora before informing Dr. Tanner on his mask's earpiece. "Doc, this door is locked."
"Let me look into it..." Dr Tanner responded before seconds later he spoke again. "Spider-Man. Be careful. Dr. Rue, the head of the project seems to have figured out that something is wrong. He's heading your way. You all will need to get the key to the room from him, he's the only one who...Oh no."
"What? What is it?" Armored Sora asked, feeling the tension.
"He has a group of adaptoid AIM bots coming with him! Get out of there!" Dr. Tanner warned them.
Spider-Man's eyes widened. "Quick hide!" He hissed before they all went up to the ceiling.
Then Dr. Rue showed up at the same spot they were standing in just seconds ago. Thankfully no one saw the heroes.
Only a few heroes are able to handle a direct combat with AIM's adaptoid. But given that they can scan and copy fighting skills and superpowers of any kind. It's best that Spider-Man, Armored Sora and Maverick remain unseen.
"There's an intruder here somewhere. Spread out and find him." Dr. Rue ordered the adaptoid bot.
"Yes Sir." The adaptoid nodded and went off in a different direction. Leaving Dr. Rue alone for a brief moment.
Big mistake for the doctor as the heroes were right above him.
"Any plans on how we get that key? Without alerting Super Parody back there?" Maverick whispered to Spider-Man and Sora while they were hanging above some lamps on the ceiling.
"I'm thinking." Spider-Man whispered as he's thinking up of a plan.
Dr. Rue was about to walk into the last control room and check on the project's insubordinate functions. When he felt his pocket and noticed his key was gone.
"Damn it. I must've left it in my office." Dr. Rue hissed as he walked away to grab his key.
It turns out, he didn't leave his key. Baby Groot was spotted by Maverick as his eyes widened seeing the little tree come out of a corner and run over to the control room door. Baby Groot was instructed earlier to wait by the exit.
"Groot!" Maverick whispered loudly. "What the hell are you doing here?!"
Baby Groot jerked his head up and smiled up at Maverick while he held up Dr. Rue's key card to the control room.
"I am Groot." Baby Groot piped up with a smirk while holding the key
The others were both shocked and impressed. Baby Groot must've pickpocketed the key from Dr. Rue without anyone noticing.
"You little twenty grams of fiber." Maverick grinned as he and the others came down from the ceiling while the guards and robots were away.
"You've raised him well." Spider-Man remarked as he's really impressed at Baby Groot's pocket diving technique.
"Technically he raised me first, but I digress." Maverick muttered to himself as they jumped back down the last control room.
Once they used the key Baby Groot stole, they all went inside and Spider-Man began to activate the control room from the terminal.
"You were saying earlier, Spike?" Maverick said for Armored Sora to continue the conversation they had earlier.
"Remember when Doctor Strange mentioned that the Dark Aether could give bad guys extra super powers? What if it could turn Mysterio into something worse than who he is now?" Armored Sora figured.
"That's a bit of a stretch isn't it?" Spider-Man had his doubts since Mysterio isn't worth that power.
"Spidey, I've been to worlds that do nothing but stretch." Maverick pointed out and corrected himself. "I meant stretch definitions, not limbs or anything in between."
"When you say it like that, it makes me glad that Electro didn't steal it first." Spider-Man remarked as he kept typing.
"Or Alan Moore." Maverick muttered to himself.
"I'm just saying. I know what happens when a dark being give's someone power after craving it so much, only to turn into a puppet of an even darker deed." Armored Sora stated as he referenced Riku after he made a deal with Maleficent and Xehanort's Heartless. "Mysterio might be playing in the hands of someone worse."
"Worse than Hydra?" Spider-Man asked armored Sora.
"I'm thinking worse than Doctor Doom." Armored Sora elaborated
"Okay that's not worse, that's being the Devil." Spider-Man said as he realised that this mission became dire now more than ever.
"I am Groot." Baby Groot grimly agreed.
Then the final control room activated. Which means it was time to head back to the central chamber.
"Let's go." Spider-Man stated as he opened the door.
Suddenly as they stepped out quietly. A AIM adaptoid was standing there when the robot spotted them and automatically sounded the alarm and the room flashed with its eyes.
"INTRUDER ALERT!" The adaptoid alarmed.
"Oh shit!" Maverick exclaimed as he quickly picked up Baby Groot and got ready to fly away.
"Guys let's go!" Spider-Man yelled as he was about to swing away.
"We can take him!" Armored Sora confidently stood his ground and held his hand out.
"SORA DON'T!" Maverick screamed as he knew what would happen.
But it was too late. Once Armored Sora summoned his keyblade and held a fighting pose. The adaptoid scanned his keyblade and the robot morphed it's bio metallic hand to form a metallic gray keyblade and the robot posed against Armored Sora.
Which was shocking. The AIM adaptoids can form their own keyblades.
"They're called adaptoids Sora. Emphasis on 'adapt!" Maverick exclaimed.
Then the adaptoid struck Armored Sora with its copy keyblade, sending him into the wall
"Ugh!...Now you tell me." Armored Sora winced while against the wall and then fall on the ground.
"Let's get the ***k out of here!" Maverick yelled as he pulled Armored Sora out of there and ran with Spider-Man.
Maverick flew away and Armored Sora freeflow sprinted out of there while Spider-Man used his web swinging to run. The Adaptoid summoned fireball spell to shoot at them while it advanced after them. The other adaptoids received the same data as they also had keyblades. The team ran and avoided the thunder and ice spell attacks from the other patrolling adaptoids.
"IRIS! Hack into the AIM droid network! clear all data on their weapons!" Maverick ordered as he ran across a server wall and jammed a device into an open port.
'At once.' IRIS responded as the server wall's color faded from yellow to blue. 'It will take two minutes before it's all cleared out. But be warned. This action will also deleted the cleansing data on the control room servers.'
"Shake a leg Web Head! We've got only two minutes to reach the central chamber!" Maverick yelled as they were dodging enemy fire from the adaptoids chasing after the three heroes.
You got it LED!" Spidey said as he web zipped from wall to wall to reach the exit.
Once they made it past the exit and into the first corridor where they were in earlier. The heroes sprinted inside the central chamber and Maverick froze the door behind them to seal the door from any adaptoid getting in.
'ten seconds. Shall I add an EMP for equal measure?' IRIS asked.
"MIGHT AS WELL!" Maverick exclaimed as he ran and activated the other terminal for the last two control rooms.
Once the injection process activated for the last two cleansing canisters. Everyone watched as the chemicals AIM had in the central chamber were erased in a flash of light and the energy orb in the middle sparked out into oblivion.
'3...2...1' IRIS stated.
As the adaptoids were shooting their way in, suddenly they lost all of their weapons as their keyblades faded away, then they began to short circuit and shut down from an EMP wave bursting all over the labs. Then the robots collapsed into pieces.
With the robots dealt with as well as the chemical weapons wiped out. Spider-Man and everyone huffed and slouched against the railings.
"Dr. Tanner. Write an insurance check. The chemicals are off AIM's periodic arsenal." Spider-Man spoke to Dr. Tanner on the other end of his mask's earpiece.
"Thank you Spider-Man. You and your friends just saved this city from another pandemic." Dr. Tanner thanked them.
"Cool cool. This'll stay between us and acquaintances if you agree to report any future safety infractions to the police from here on out. And I'd be careful going to the restroom, There'd be dead dots in dem halls." Spider-Man stated and quipped before signing off and huffing.
"How much money do you think AIM just lost?" Armored Sora asked Spider-Man while he was catching his breath.
"Heh. Bill Gates' allowance money." Maverick chuckled and winced. "Ooh cramp."
"I am Groot." Baby Groot sighed in relief as he was glad it's over.
"Don't be a baby Groot. We get shot at all the time. Mostly me. From Heartless. And typical generic aliens...Monsters...Pirates...Space Pirates...inner dimensional demons...Robots...Vicky whenever I piss her off during her second stage adolescence..." Maverick listed the following things in his head.
Soon they got the energy to stand up and found an exit out of the chamber, which was an air vent above the room.
Later on at Dr. Rue's office...
Dr. Rue was frustrated that he thought he had left his access keys in his office as he marched towards his office. Then his cell phone rang.
"What is it?!" Dr. Rue answered sharply.
After a little chattering on the other end, his eyes widened.
"What?! What do you mean our chemical weapons project is terminated?!" Dr. Rue exclaimed on the phone as he ran back down where he just came from. Away from his office.
Inside his office. Spider-Man zipped down from the air vent above Dr. Rue's computer desk and Armored Sora came down along with Maverick and Baby Groot.
"Alright. Let's see what our mysterious second element likes to go by." Spider-Man mused as he started typing.
"IRIS, what's the password?" Maverick asked as IRIS hijacked the password from the AIM security network.
'Oscorpsucs247.' IRIS stated.
"Seriously? they can't think of anything original?" Spider-Man asked as he typed in the password.
"Trust me Web Head. There are more generic ways to over advertise a greedy business. Just ask Sony." Maverick remarked.
"True." Spidey said as he agreed with Maverick's statement.
Then Spider-Man logged into the computer while using the access card Doctor Strange gave Maverick and found a file on the only element available, which displayed after the computer scanned the card.
"Okay. We have the element. It's...Oh no." Spider-Man's eyes widened after reading it.
"What?" Maverick glanced at the element name and back at Spider-Man. "What's G.R-27?"
That's right. The second element Doctor Strange sent Spider-Man and the Guardians to go and retrieve was the Devil's Breath. The only of it was left on AIM's head of the chemical research project. Any other trace of it would be at Oscorp. But not as a clean and open file. Especially since Norman Osborn took precautions to erase it from Oscorp's open servers to avoid lawsuits. But AIM os up a different mindset.
Spider-Man doesn't know why Strange would do this, but he was taking this very personally.
"Something that has cost wag too many lives, and needs to be destroyed no matter what." Spider-Man said in a serious tone.
"Woah wait a minute Pete! We need this to stop the Organization! Doctor Strange told us!" Armored Sora protested.
"Sora, trust me when I say that you do not, can not, and will not under any circumstances use this element." Spider-Man said to Sora as his voice was getting grim.
"Spidey-" Maverick tried to say.
"No! You have no idea how dangerous Devil's Breath is!" Spider-Man snapped at them.
"Devil's Breath?" Armored Sora looked confused.
Spider-Man took a moment to take a deep breath to calm down. "Guys, just trust me on this one, please." He implored them.
"Spidey, I'm sorry." Maverick projected a neon bubble to shield the computer desk away from Spider-Man. "I don't know what this is about, but I can't let you delete files. You'll damn the entire Multiverse if you do."
"New York was already damned by this deadly disease Mav! I'm not living that nightmare again!" Spider-Man snapped back.
"This isn't about you Spidey! We need this to save lives!" Maverick exclaimed feeling just as frustrated.
Both are clashing their words because they both lost someone they loved. But for different reasons that are facing each other. Devil's Breath and Organization XIII.
"MY AUNT DIED BECAUSE OF THIS VIRUS!" Spidey finally snapped and made both Maverick and Armored Sora silence.
"What do you mean?" Armored Sora finally asked as he and.
Spider-Man exhaled and took his mask before he leaned his arm against the window and looked out on the city.
"G.R-27 was meant to be Oscorp's cure for all diseases. But in its early stage it acted as a bioweapon." Peter stated.
"And New York was attacked by it?" Armored Sora asked.
"Pretty much, a few months ago. Almost a dozen of my enemies broke out of prison. Band together and released the Devil's Breath drug over New York. Thousands were infected and were dying. I went through a lot of hell to find the cure. But I couldn't..." Peter fought the tears before he continued. "I gave over the cure, instead of saving my Aunt May Parker. Who died within the moment I came back with the cure."
"Oh no." Sora looked horrified as he shifted out of his armored form.
Then Maverick shifted back into Aiden to ask. "The cure didn't work?"
"It did. But it was either her or thousands that were infected. They needed time to mass produce it. Time Aunt May didn't have." Peter grimaced at that last note before he sighed and stood back up. "Now you know why I have to destroy it?"
Aiden nodded slowly as he completely understood Peter's frustration.
"More than you know." Aiden stated before continuing. "I was banished from my home world by the Organization when I was five. That's when I became the Maverick. I wasn't able to get back home and find my mother's dead body until three years later."
Peter was so stunned after hearing Aiden's back story.
"Aiden, I didn't-" He tried to say.
"It's okay, in the end it all worked out." Aiden said honestly.
"I also know what it's like. I lost my best friend Riku to the Organization. And it took me a while to find out." Sora stated while Aiden looked guilty hearing that but Sora shot a small smile and nodded at Aiden to let him know it's okay.
"Pete. The hardest job about being a hero, is knowing you can't always save everybody." Aiden stated and added."But it's our job to try."
Those words struck a nerve with Peter. But in a good way.
"And that's why we can't delete that element. I'm sorry Peter. But the Organization wants to use our keyblades to gather energy from the enemies we fight with them. With all that energy. They will use it to wipe out the entire Multiverse, in a way that's worse than Thanos." Sora explained to Peter in the details he would understand.
Which was the truth.
"There's no other way Peter. If you delete that now. All of us will be turned into ground zero by Organization XIII." Aiden stated and made a promise. "Please. Let us have it. I promise you we'll only use it to stop the Organization. After that I'll wipe out every last trace of it, so no one else will suffer from it again."
Peter closed his eyes and took a deep breath, if his Aunt May were here, she would say the exact same thing. "Alright, if you think that using this will save the multiverse, then there's no one and I mean no one that I trust more than you guys." Peter said in sincere honesty.
"I am Groot." Baby Groot smiled and nodded.
"Groot says Thanks. And we won't be responsible for the same crime Oscorp committed. Only he didn't say committed." Aiden grinned at Baby Groot before he spoke to his ring. "IRIS. copy the G.R-27 file off of Dr. Samuel Rue's computer and wipe out every trace of it on all of AIM's servers."
'Would it be too soon to tell you that the chemicals weapons division was their parody of Devil's Breath?' IRIS asked them.
"Actually in an ironic way, it makes this moment feel a lot better. Like a deleted scene in a four star broadway show." Peter remarked as he put his mask back on.
"That's the spirit, Spidey." Sora smiled as he shifted back into his armored form.
Then Aiden shifted back into Maverick.
"MJ, Vic, Rosebud. We've got the second element. Let's leave AIM to brood over their failed Dexter experiments and rendezvous back at the Sanctum Santorum." Maverick contacted Mary Jane, Victoria and Kairi.
Then Maverick teleported himself and everyone else out of that room and back outside.
Thirty minutes laterโฆ..
Dr. Rue came back in to check his computer and sat at his desk to check on his Chemical Weapons file. Which was the Devil's file IRIS just wiped out.
"What the hell?" Dr. Rue inquired as he glared at the computer. "Where's the file?!"
"Dr. Samuel Rue?" Captain Yuri Watanabe walked in with three NYPD officers.
"Yeah, what's going on?" Dr. Rue inquired.
"You're under arrest for running multiple illegal experiments and attempting to recreate the Devil's Breath." Yuri stated as she handcuffed Dr. Rue.
Spider-Man had managed to send the evidence Maverick had gathered on Dr. Rue's secure files on his computer and sent his multi crime info to the police.
"What?! It's not the Devil's Breath! It's a national security measure project!" Dr. Rue protected as the other cops grabbed him as he struggled.
"Thanks for reminding me about your act of national treason." Yuri sarcastically responded. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can and will be used against you under the court of law."
Sometimes people with fat pockets of money and a large office, can sometimes forget that crime doesn't pay.
Thankfully Dr. Tanner was let off the hook as he decided to leave AIM to go as he got an application at Stark Industries. Which is a good thing because he can share with the second leader of the Avengers the information he gathered while working at AIM. Giving them one step ahead in case they ever cause trouble again.
AIM's board of directors will deny any acknowledgement on Dr. Rue's crimes. So they'll be left off the hook to invent another day. But watch your back AIM. You're under more hot water than ever before.
Meanwhile back at Quinton Beck's hideout...
Mysterio had the Dark Aether sitting on a table as he paced around the room ranting about how he couldn't contact AIM that he has it, and even more frustrated that no one on the black market wants it.
"Ugh! Useless hunk of nothing!" Mysterio spat.
Suddenly the stone began to glow a dark purple color. Like a purple Gothic lava lamp. Which got Mysterio's attention.
"Hmm? What's this?" Mysterio went over to pick it up.
The moment he took the Dark Aether, which was now awake and feeding power to Beck. Mysterio groaned as he felt the power flow through him. He exhaled and struggled a bit, but then the villain stood up and chuckled. Knowing what this means.
"Ahh...Yes...Power. This is what real power feels like. No more parlor tricks and sleight of hand." Mysterio held his hand up and summoned a real cobra, not an illusion. A real one as it hissed on his hand.
Then he tossed it out the window to crash through the glass and plummet to its death.
"Mysterio! Is now the master of real magic! And this just the beginning!" Mysterio declared evilly as he hovered out of the window on top of a thick purple smoke. Before he started laughing evilly. "Haa hahahahahahahahahaa!"
Somewhere in the unknown...
Someone even darker was lurking in the realms. Watching with a smirk as the pieces were falling into place. The one who's been a shadow in between Sora's war against Organization XIII. The one who use to be the main target from Sora's last adventure and the one who is responsible for Hallow Bastion falling apart all those years ago. That same Mistress of all Evil is now trying to reek havoc against the Marvel Universe.
It was Maleficent. Watching on a crystal orb how Mysterio bonded with the Dark Aether from her secret lair.
"Indeed it is. The beginning of the end." Maleficent grinned evilly.
That's right! Maleficent is the one responsible for Beck getting the Dark Aether. Pete was with her as well. Not Peter Parker to be clear. But the big bully cat Pete. Maleficent's henchman.
"Well now that the yutz with the Dark Aether is now on the loose. What do we do now?" Pete asked as he stood behind the evil fairy.
"We?" Maleficent inquired.
"Well uh...Yeah! After all, I'm the one that put up that display in the museum.. I think I've earned a piece of the action." Pete said optimistically.
Maleficent scoffed. "You think about as well as you can spell your own name you nitwit." She snapped and turned to glare at Pete. "You may have accomplished the small task. But I've warned you about failure time and time again."
"Well I-" Pete tried to say.
"And yet you failed to steal the King and Queen's Cornerstone of Light!" Maleficent reminded Pete.
"B-But I-" Pete nervously tried to speak.
"And you failed to carry out the mission in Port Royale!" Maleficent added.
"True but-" Pete tried to say.
"And you failed to deal with those Guardians when they were nothing but vermin in the Pride Lands! And worse! Your army of Heartless failed to defeat both the Guardians and Avalanche back in Hollow Bastion! which I WAS ABLE TO DO ALL MYSELF YEARS AGO!" Maleficent exclaimed in rage as the green fires spread.
Pete gulped in fear. "Y-Your point?" He squeaked.
"My dear Pete? You've served me with a clear devotion for a good amount of time. But your lack of intelligence and clear vision has only resulted in you trying so hard to achieve so little." Maleficent stated with a smirk as she looked out at the dimensional orb. "While there are better villains out there who are younger than you. Hungrier than you. Smarter than you and if I can literate. Thinner than you."
"Hey!" Pete exclaimed while holding his own big belly.
"Face it. You are helpless Pete. Useless and officially a waste of my time and resources. Which is why I will be turning my attention to better, more suitable recruits who are worthy to be my lackey." Maleficent stated as she smirked sinisterly at Pete.
"Maleficent Please! Give me another chance! If you want me to axe off the Guardians?! I'll do it! Blow King Mickey outta his throne?! No problem! If you want me to buy you a new dress and pick up your dry cleanin?! I kiss the dirt for you!" Pete pleaded with his hand clasped together and on his knees.
"Too late. I've been too merciful for you. And you've wasted your fair share of second chances. But rest assured. I've decided to compensate you for all of your hard work." Maleficent stated in a soft deceitful tone as she lifted Pete's chin.
"R-Really?" Pete nervously smiled as he was sweating and feeling a small ounce of hope.
"Yes. You may keep your life. But you're on your own now. Or as they say in the worlds." Maleficent stepped away and turned back with her eyes narrowed. "You're fired."
Pete's jaw dropped so low it cracked the floor. He was shocked. He's lost his title as Maleficent's second in command.
Then Maleficent waved her hand summoning a dimensional hole below Pete which led to one of the other worlds as his dark essence and ability to control and summon the Heartless left him.
"Nonononono! Wait wait wait!" Pete tries to stay afloat by flapping his arms like a bird. Then he falls down with the sound of a cartoon whistle descend effect. "WOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Then the hole closed and Pete was gone for good.
"Fare thee well Pete. Such a shame. I almost liked him. Almost." Maleficent snorted as she looked at the orb showing Mysterio with a smirk. "Now for me to indulge and recruit my new future lacky...Ah hahahahahahahaha! HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!"
Maleficent is planning to give Mysterio Pete's job now that he's out of the picture. To make Beck her new sidekick. But what will the end results be? Who will get the upper hand? Who will get the end results? Or will our heroes be able to stop them both before things get out of hand?
One thing for sure. The fate of the Multiverse and the fate of the Marvel World are in the hands of Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Multiverse.
THAT'S ALL FOR NOW FOLKS!
Yep! Pete is no longer working with Maleficent. I mean it never made since to me on why she kept him around after he failed her many times to try and stop Sora. Especially those other times I mentioned in the story when she listed the worlds he failed in. As for where and what world she dropped him in, you'll have to wait an see. I'll give you a hint. It's another major city where someone like Pete can get lost in.
"Me?" Spider-Man asked.๐ง
Not you Pete the other Pete!
"You lost me." Spider-Man inquired.๐
Pete the bully!
"Flash?" Spider-Man inquired.๐
No! Mickey Mouse's enemy!
"DreamWorks?" Maverick asked.๐
Stay out of this Mav! Ugh! Jim Cummings character! ๐ค
"I'll explain to Spidey. You go ahead and wrap up the epologue Buddy." Sora gave the Author a thumbs up. ๐
Thanks Sora. You always know just what to say. ๐. Good luck with Smash Bros!
Anyway also I had to do something clever about the before mentioned Devil's Breath so Spidey could open up to Sora and Aiden about what happened with Aunt May๐ญ. That scene when she died always had me in tears. I lost my Aunt last January and it still hurts. So I had to channel that in order to male sure it works here. Especially since Aiden and Sora felt that same loss.
Also those AIM adaptoids are from the comics so they're not just based on the Avengers video game. Is anybody else looking forward to the Guardians of the Galaxy video game coming out soon?
Let me know in the comments below as well as your opinion on this chapter. Thank you all so much for reading! Look forward to when Mysterio dukes it out with Spider-Man, Sora's team and Doctor Strange. Maleficent will also be there as well folks. ๐ For the biggest fight this series will ever have with her.
I hope you all enjoyed the stealth missions. Let me know you're thoughts ln that as well
And as always Disney/Marvel/Square Enix fans!
FISTBUMP!๐๐๐
