*Eddie's POV*
Fuck, Eddie thought to himself, why did he do that? As Addie biked away he slapped the door frame in frustration. He had been wanting to kiss her since that first night she had kicked in the door on their campaign wearing that goddamn Iron Maiden shirt.
They had been so close, but of course his uncle had to ruin it. Now he wasn't sure if he had made things awkward between the two of them. She seemed to have run off quickly… but at least she had agreed to meet with him tomorrow.
He walked back into the trailer and stumbled to his room. He shut the door behind him then went and flopped face first into the bed, "Idiot," he muttered into his pillow. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the wall, he couldn't get Addie out of his head. It had been a long time since he had felt such a strong desire for a single person. He had been with many women, and men, but they were always just one night stands, usually with people he met at bars or while dealing. However, he had never been this confused before.
He wanted Addie, that much was obvious. He had thought about her countless times over the past month; but for some reason he was nervous that she would reject him, or it would make things weird between the two of them.
So the fact that she had left so quickly after he had nearly kissed her, made him feel a bit panicked. He groaned and rolled over to open his bedside table's drawer. He rummaged through his things until he found a couple joints he had hidden in a case in the back of the drawer.
Thankfully his uncle never got on his case about his smoking. He himself had been a major stoner back in the 70s, so he couldn't bother Eddie too much about it.
He lit the joint and took a long drag. He was desperately hoping this would take his mind off of things.
Unfortunately, it did the opposite. As Eddie smoked, he started imagining what might have happened if his uncle hadn't walked in on them. Would it have gone further than a kiss? Would it have made things even more awkward between them afterwards? For some reason Eddie didn't think Addie would be someone to take sex too seriously, but he really had no idea.
He sighed, and his eyes rested on the handcuffs hanging on the wall. Fuck, now he was imagining what it would be like to use those with Addie. His eyes shifted back to the bedside table and eyed the bottle of lotion. He was hoping not to rely on that tonight, but seeing as he couldn't get Addie out of his mind, he guessed it was another night with just himself and his thoughts.
*Addie's POV*
When Addie arrived home she had greeted Aunt Claudia briefly then went to hide in her room. She threw her backpack on the floor and flopped face first onto her bed. She let out an exasperated groan, then rolled onto her side. What the hell was that, she thought to herself.
She knew she was attracted to Eddie… but she really hadn't expected anything to happen. She wasn't even sure if she wanted anything to happen. She knew without a doubt she didn't want a relationship, especially after what had happened with her last one. She had also told herself that she wouldn't do meaningless hookups anymore. Addie had gone through her hooking up phase after her and her ex had broken up, and none of the hookups had been amazing. They usually had ended with Addie sneaking out and trying her best to avoid them afterwards so as to not have to deal with any potential emotions either one of them might have. She didn't want to complicate things here in Hawkins. Plus, she actually liked hanging out with Eddie. Sure he was a loser, but he was so easy to be around.
Just then she heard a knock on the door. Addie sat up, "Come in."
Her aunt Claudia opened the door and stuck her head into the room. "Everything okay sweetie? You seem stressed."
Shit, Addie thought, she didn't want her aunt to know she had been drinking. Addie smiled, she really did love her aunt. "I'm fine, Aunt Claudia, just tired."
Aunt Claudia stepped into the room, "Where were you all day? Dustin mentioned you were with a friend of his."
"Uh, yeah. I'm actually helping one of his D&D buddies study. They're struggling with school and we have a couple of the same classes."
"Oh isn't that nice of you," Aunt Claudia remarked with a smile. She walked more into the room and sat down on the bed beside Addie, "So you're making some friends then?"
Addie nodded, "Yes, Dustin's introduced me to lots of people already. I've already made a couple friends."
"Oh good!" Aunt Claudia said, grinning even more, "You know, I want you to feel comfortable here. I know you're only here for a short time, but I want Hawkins to feel like home for the year you stay with us; and I know your parents wouldn't want you to spend all your time just with me or by yourself, so I'm glad you're making friends. I know Hawkins isn't big and fancy like Chicago, but it has its own charms."
Addie grinned and gave her aunt a hug, "Thanks Aunt Claudia. Don't worry, I definitely feel at home here."
Her aunt patted her hand and got up to leave. "Oh, Aunt Claudia?" Addie called out. Her aunt turned around and Addie continued, "Just so you know, I'm going to be gone tomorrow afternoon. I'm having another study session. I'm not sure how late it will go."
Aunt Claudia smiled, "No worries sweetie. I'll see you in the morning." With that she walked out and closed the door behind her.
Addie let out a sigh and flopped back down. She just prayed tomorrow wouldn't be too weird.
The next morning Addie woke up in a foul mood. She had an awful headache and was not looking forward to studying with Eddie today.
She looked over at her alarm clock and - Shit! She jumped up, it was already 1:20 in the afternoon and she had agreed to meet him at 2. She hopped out of bed and stumbled around the room trying to get dressed.
She grabbed a plain white t-shirt, her faded light wash denim, and her large rust colored flannel. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail as best as she could, though it still wasn't long enough to stay in the ponytail so the pieces around her neck and around her face fell down.
She put on some mascara, sprayed some perfume and grabbed her bag, heading out the door.
Neither Dustin nor her aunt were anywhere to be seen so she didn't have to bother saying goodbye. She paused at the door to put on her shoes and had to take a moment as a wave of nausea passed over her. All this speeding around was not helping her hangover headache in any way.
Just then she heard honking from outside the house. She opened the door and saw Eddie in his van parked in front of the house.
Addie looked around, confused, then walked up to the van. "What the hell? I thought we were meeting at your house?"
Eddie smiled, "Yeah, well I figured you might be too hungover to make it without passing out, so I thought I would pick you up."
Addie gave him a skeptical look. Eddie sighed, reached down, and held up a large takeout mug of coffee. "Come on, get in."
Addie reached up to grab the coffee, she muttered a quiet thank you, then walked around and hopped into the passenger seat.
Eddie started up the car and they started driving. Both of them were silent, Eddie watched the road while Addie observed their surroundings. Finally Eddie spoke up, "So, how's the hangover?"
Addie side-eyed him, "How do you know I'm hungover?"
Eddie shrugged and smiled softly, "I made a lucky guess, and then I saw that your shirt was on backwards and inside out and I figured my guess was correct."
Addie quickly looked down and let out a frustrated "ugh" when she saw the tag of her t-shirt sitting at the front of her shirt.
Eddie chuckled at her then went back to driving. When Addie looked back out the window, she realized they were pulling up to the high school. She raised her eyebrow, "Your special place to study is at the high school? How unique."
Eddie just shook his head, trying to hold back a smile, "Have a little faith, Firecracker." He parked on the edge of the parking lot, right beside the forest. Eddie flung open his door and hopped out of the car. He jogged over to Addie's side of the car and opened the door for her, "M'lady," he said teasingly, gesturing out the door.
Addie snorted, "M'lady? Really?" She looked at the forest, "Is this where you take your satanic sacrifices?"
Eddie just grinned, "Of course. All my virgin sacrifices get sacrificed in these woods."
"Oh then I'm safe as long as you don't bring me to the woods where you sacrifice your non-virgin sacrifices."
Eddie gave her a peculiar look but said nothing in response. He started to walk into the trees, and Addie begrudgingly followed, gripping her half finished coffee cup.
Neither of them said anything as they walked through the trees. Finally, after about 10 minutes Eddie stopped abruptly, almost causing Addie to crash into him. She peeked her head around Eddie and saw a picnic bench in a small clearing.
"This is your spot?" Addie asked, surprised.
Eddie nodded and walked over to the bench. He was wearing his Hellfire Club t-shirt, his denim vest, and distressed black jeans with a chain on the side. His sleeves were pushed up, showing off his forearm tattoo. "This is, uh, where I meet with clients."
It took Addie a moment to realize he was talking about selling drugs. Steve had told her he was a dealer, but she wasn't sure if it was just another rumor about him. Turns out, it was true.
"Is that what I am?" She teased, "A client?"
Eddie sat down and rested his elbows on the table, leaning towards her, "That depends… what is it that you want from me?"
Addie set her bag down, "Calm down there Munson. You and I are just studying."
He eyed her up and down, "Whatever you say."
Addie suddenly remembered her shirt was on incorrectly. She stood up and instructed Eddie to look away so she could fix her shirt quickly. He rested his head in his hands, covering his eyes.
Addie turned around so her back was to him. She shrugged off her flannel, then pulled her shirt over her head and readjusted it. When she turned back around, Eddie still had his eyes covered, but Addie had no doubts he had probably peeked.
She went to sit back down and Eddie raised his head.
"Okay," Addie grabbed out her books, "Today we are actually going to get more studying done."
Eddie groaned, but didn't protest this time. Instead, he sat down in front of Addie and let her quiz him. He struggled to sit still for too long at a time, so occasionally he would get up and have a smoke, or just pace around the clearing ranting about music or d&d or the 'sheep' of Hawkins High. Addie would just sit and listen while she continued taking notes.
After almost two hours, they both decided to take a break from studying. Addie got up from the table to stretch her legs. Eddie had hopped up onto a large rock and was looking down at Addie. Finally he spoke, "So tell me again why you want to join the Hellfire Club."
Addie looked up at him, surprised by the topic change. "I thought I told you this already."
"Barely," Eddie replied, "Just that you wanted to play the game but your ex never let you. What's up with that anyways?"
Addie rolled her eyes just thinking about it, "Basically, he didn't want me to play because he thought girls weren't smart or creative enough to play, so he always told me I would ruin it if he let me join."
Eddie hopped down off the rock, "Are you kidding me? And you put up with a dickhead like that?"
Addie was starting to feel uncomfortable, she didn't like thinking about her ex. She took her hair out of the ponytail and ran her hands through her hair. "I don't know. He was sweet to me…can we not talk about this?"
"He was sweet to you? Addie, he was a sexist dick. How the hell was he sweet to you?"
"Okay so I guess we are talking about this," Addie muttered to herself. She walked and leaned herself against a tree, "I don't know Eddie, I was stupid and naïve. I wanted affection and he was willing to give that to me."
Eddie walked over to Addie and stood in front of her, he opened his mouth to say something back, but when he saw how uncomfortable she looked, he stopped himself.
"Well," he said after a moment, "you are welcome in the Hellfire Club."
Addie tried to manage a smile but she knew it came across as sad and pathetic.
"Hey," Eddie grabbed her hand, "I'll even help you build a character. How does that sound?"
This time Addie's smile was genuine. She squeezed his hand as a way of thanks and nodded, "Yes please."
Eddie stepped closer to her, "Um, so about last night."
Addie had been hoping this wouldn't be brought up today, "What about it?"
Eddie looked down at their hands, which were still locked together. "Well, we did get interrupted."
Addie smirked, also looking down at their hands. Eddie's hands were rough, and his fingers were callused from years of guitar playing. The coolness of his rings against her hand were surprisingly comforting. "Did we?" Addie replied.
Eddie stepped closer once again so Addie was forced to press herself against the tree.
She held up her other hand to stop him, "Eddie. I don't want to make things weird."
He smiled down at her, "Things won't be weird. Come on, Firecracker. Let's make these study sessions a little more interesting."
He glanced down at her mouth again. Addie sighed, "Fuck it."
She reached up and her lips found his. He kissed her back without hesitation, his arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her close to him. He pulled back for a moment and whispered in a husky voice, "Hop up."
Addie hopped up so her legs were wrapped around his waist and he grabbed her ass to hold her in place.
She felt his tongue sweep across her lips and she obligingly let him in, his tongue slipping inside.
Addie's hands moved from his shoulders to his hair. She tangled her hands in his hair and kissed him deeper. His kisses then moved from her lips to her neck, slowly moving their way down.
That was when Addie chose to stop him. She didn't want this to go too far. She put a hand on his chest and said his name softly. "Yes, Firecracker," he whispered as he lifted his head to look at her.
"I think we need to pause this before it goes any further."
He groaned and rested his forehead against hers, "Yeah, okay," he said begrudgingly.
He let her down and took a step back. Both of them were flushed and breathing heavily. Addie adjusted her shirt. "I think we should head back…I have plans with Robin tonight."
Eddie looked as though he wanted to protest but instead he nodded his head, "Yeah, okay. I don't think we're going to get much studying done now anyways."
They both laughed and Addie grabbed her bag before they walked back to the van. She had no idea what to think about what just happened, but she felt like a girl talk was much needed to go over everything.
