A Tragedy Averted and A Surprise

Someone or something made of light is in front of them. They see the odd colored eyes, the ones in the window. They hear a chilling growl from a giant animal. Lucius' arms are wet; "Father, you are wet." Their witch wears a Muggle spring dress, the bottom of the dress is bloody. Lucius knows what must have happened. He's pretty sure and wants to cry.

The being tells them, "She is dying from a curse eating her insides. We can make it stop, but the child is gone, and she will forever change; she won't be the same. But first, you must agree." Both Lucius and Draco 'hear' inside their heads.

"Do it," both said at the same time. The idea she could die is unbearable, whatever it takes to keep her alive.

The next second they are in their room, and Hermione's dress is clean. She opens her eyes, "What happened? I was feeling awful, having bad cramps. I didn't tell you, not wanting to worry you, perhaps one of the curses or hexes hit me, but I feel fine now. We should call our healer to make sure I am okay. Why are you sad?"

"No, not sad, worried," Draco decides it is best to let it go. His witch has had enough sorrow all her life; he contributed, making her life miserable at Hogwarts. Lucius nods, also mourning the lost child and thinking the same. He also made her life miserable; this is a dark day for him when past deeds flood his memory. He wants revenge, but he has the feeling is best to let it go. Someone else will deal with it.

"I think we need to find out where all the mothers are. I was very scared today. I don't know what I would do if something happened to the children." After they agree, they hear the children running, laughing, and saying something. The house-elves are right behind. The door opens since they never knock, and the children come together. A dog, resembling a young wolf follows them. The color is off because there are no green wolves.

"The doggie was coming up the steps." Severus explains. "I think he is looking for mommy." The dog barks and runs to sit by Hermione's bed.

Remus observes, "Look at his necklace," he means the collar. It has a tree," he can read, "It has mommy's name." The wolf-dog barks twice.

"Mommy can we play with the doggie?" Vince asks. He is gentle and polite and loves Draco the most. His other favorite is uncle Greg, who has practically moved into Malfoy Manor. Greg also works with the Malfoy in a new venture of Muggle tech

One of the children Colin, Remus best friend, surprises all when he changes into a young dog, a pup. Hermione recognizes the dog at once. "Padfoot, Sirius?" Her voice is trembling. She is always wondering why Colin's eyes are green, not brown like Colin's. The dog barks happily, and Remus goes to hug him. "My Siriu-doggie," Remus calls him. Severus also goes to hug him and kisses him, "Siriu, good doggie." Hermione is frozen in place, the children know; oh, gods, they know who they were. \

The adults don't know that Colin chose to be reborn into his mother's womb. His parents had driven to Hogwarts, and his mother was pregnant. 'It' saw Sirius with Remus and Dora, and knew Sirius had loved Hermione like his child and wanted to return. On the window they see a writing made out of fireflies. It says Colin Sirius Malf

Hermione stands up to hug and kiss the pup, to kiss Sirius. Her eyes are bright; she will never forget the pain when Sirius was pushed into the Veil. Finally, she understands why Lucius attempts to rescue Sirius using a Malfoy artifact didn't work; she must tell Harry, he will like the news.

"Do you all want to have pizza tonight; we will have a party with lots of ice cream and biscuits and celebrate." Hermione declares, kissing everyone.

Later that day, Hermione confesses she thought she might have been pregnant, but her period started. She says she wants another baby, and they should plan. Her wizards agree, happy she won't know. Though the Malfoy often wonder why they were chosen; and the wizards why them after they treated her so badly. Draco sees the color of the wolf, and a forgotten memory comes. Strange, he had totally forgotten until today.

Hermione knows why after seeing the green wolf-dog. She recognized the eyes, which made her happy. She remembers.

Hermione 2nd year at Hogwarts.

Hermione walked outside near the Forbidden Forest, looking for a plant for a potion. She saw something barely moving, whining in pain; it was a small injured animal. "What are you sweetie?" She figured out it was a magical creature, mostly green with streaks in lighter and darker greens. The small fuzz ball's face was hidden under the fur; though she could see the glow of the eyes, and the clawed paws.

The claws looked as if they were made out of jade. A nasty student had tied its legs with floss and the legs were infected. She sat on the ground, to help it. She didn't want to use magic, not knowing if it would hurt it. Slowly she untied the knots, cleaned it up, and decided, she couldn't leave it there and would hide it in her satchel. The small animal let Hermione hold it. She felt a small warm tongue licking her, but didn't see how her hand glowed for a second, neither did she see a new tiny freckle. The fur was smooth and soft; the little creature smelled of eucalyptus and some other lovely scent. It was love at first sight, so she kissed it a couple of times before hiding it. Already making plans to keep it.

She took it to Hagrid. "Where did'ya find this wee bit?" He asked, concerned, his eyebrows knitted. He was afraid for Hermione, remembering stories from long ago.

When she told him, she confirmed his fears, worrying Hagrid. "I'll keep it here for tonight. We can put a healing salve, but you canna use magic. Don't tell anyone, nobody. If Dumbledore knew, he would make you take it back and forbid you from ever going outside, or looking out a window. This here ain't really a wee bit; at least not one from around here." He told Hermione that he hoped she hadn't called unwanted attention. He also said whoever did this, hurting the little creature, better be afraid.

Hermione didn't want to leave her new friend with Hagrid. The fur-ball was making pitiful sounds, quite loud. "I think it's decided to be with you." Hagrid sounded sad and told her to return it the next day. "Leave it where you found it, and never go back around that place." When Hermione opened her satchel to put the fur-ball in, it jumped right inside, a big jump, but first, its hair was fluffier, then it hissed and spitted at Hagrid, making Hermione giggle and Hagrid mutter. "Ungrateful, ungrateful." Not so, Hagrid would one day find out.

Hermione made sure to keep it hidden from everyone including her Kneazle. She gave it some fruit and lettuce, but what it wanted was a piece of her biscuit and a few crisps. It started making lots of noise when she took a small snack out her satchel, a Muggle biscuit with creamy filling. It didn't want water, but nuzzled her leg when she opened a can. It wanted the Muggle orange soda she kept on her drank over half. From dinner she brought dessert, a fruit pie, and a roll with honey, to drink she brought a bottle with pumpkin juice. No, it tasted it and spitted, wanting more of her Muggle drink. It sneezed when it drank, making Hermione giggle. Hermione was in love and wanted to keep it. At night she kept it on a box where she put old socks and made holes. Hard to believe but her Kneazle left it alone. Even when it got out at night, and Hermione found it on her pillow, right on her hair.

The next day, with great regret, she took the fluff ball back, crying all the way, not worrying she wasn't followed. It was better with Hagrid's salve. Hermione put the satchel on the ground, still crying, wanting to keep it, but she didn't see the tears, turning into gleaming crystals as soon as they hit the ground. The fur-qiball jumped out of the satchel, looked at her, and she kneeled on the ground to touch it and get a couple more licks. It chittered and vanished. When Hermione walked away, a ghostly hand picked up the tears crystals and the fur-ball.

A day later, an upperclassman was found near the forest, frozen in terror. He had to be sent to expert healers, but when he came back, he never went outside again. His fellow Slytherins said he would wake up screaming and didn't like the dark. He followed Hermione, spying on her. He could see something on her, others didn't. Many times he thought of talking to the Mudblood, but he was afraid. Not to hurt her, but to intercede for him. His parents came for him one day he was found near Gryffindor, screaming non-stop.

Hermione obeyed Hagrid, staying away from that area near the Forbidden Forest. More or less, she would come walk to a place near by but still far enough, would sit and wait, hoping the fur-ball would see her. Once in a while, she would bring it treats right by the edge, using her wand hoping, leaving the treats when she left. She stayed away till the battle day.

Draco is also remembering. At the time he fought his attraction. He had mixed feelings and hated himself for liking her; thus, he verbally abused her, tried to hurt her, sicking his bodyguards on her. One day, he saw her walking outside after classes were done, and, like other days, he followed her, making sure he stayed concealed. Where was she going? He told his bodyguards to leave him alone.

He saw her step into the Forbidden Forest, just at the edge. He was planning to snitch on her, until he saw her picking up a ball made of green fur. Maybe a toy? He thought. But, then, she sat on the ground and placed the whining whatever on her lap. What was it? No idea, but he guessed whatever was injured. She was careful and tender, making him aware of how much he liked her. It made him wish she wasn't tainted, and a tear of frustration ran down his cheek. He realized he wished for her caring. soft touches; no wonder her bodyguards loved her, he thought envying them.

Draco realizes the green wolf is somewhat related to the creature that day. That was the day he started dreaming about her; the day he started loving his enemy; the day his wet dreams started and were always about her. An idea is forming, he will look in the library. He will talk to her, but he will have to confess he followed her more than once. She will not care. She will probably smile and call him some name.

Hermione still has cases of orange soda, and a stash of Muggle junk food. She pulls her wand to get a can of soda, a bowl, a few cream biscuits, and a small bowl of crisps. The green wolf puts it's paws on Hermione's lap whining, banging its tail, "They are for you, darling, just wait."

Lucius and Draco are amazed, watching the wolf lapping the fizzy drink, sneezing, eating several of the biscuits, and crunching the crisps. Lucius is laughing, "How did you know?" The wolf growls aggressively before she can answer. "Ah, I see, it is a confidence." Lucius smiles, letting the witch have her secrets. He loves to see his beloved smiling, so he accepts the wolf with open arms. He loves her, everything about her. Her welcoming body, her smile, her warm mouth on his, her intelligence, all. What would he do without her; he wouldn't survive; he knows that. Narcissa was painful, but what he feels for Hermione is something different. Whatever she wants she can have. He worries and afraid, and wants to find who wants to hurt her. He will have no mercy; he cannot lose her.

Draco wants to hold her and never let her go. He never gets tired of her embrace. He could lay with her all day long. But most of, he loves her courage, her forgiving heart, her tenderness, and her intelligence. He wants to kiss her and never stop. He is very scared of losing her.
