Aurora and Atlas Edelias Magic Lesson: Soul Magic!

Aurora Eledias, the Soul Master.

Atlas Eledias, the Soul Eater.

These two twins have used their magic to work together since they were kids. Aurora's magic allows her to capture any pure souls and help guide them to the "Afterworld", a place where souls of the dead reside.

You see, sometimes a soul doesn't automatically go to the Afterworld after their body dies. For whatever reason, the soul ends up wandering the realms, aimlessly and usually for several years.

This is where Aurora comes in. She has the power to send the souls to the Afterworld, as long as they were pure when they were alive.

In return for her generosity, most souls make a contract with Aurora, allowing her to summon them when she's in need. Aurora uses this power to help take down beasts, bad guys, or just when sparring with her brother.

Speaking of her brother, Atlas is called the Soul Eater for a very specific reason: he eats souls. Good or bad, he has the power to consume a soul and gain their abilities, storing them in his body. He uses this power to inherit certain qualities of souls he's eaten that benefit him in whatever situation he's in. Additionally, he may not be able to capture souls and send them to the Afterworld, but he can cause souls to wander, either by making them run loose without a purpose once more, or allowing them to possess a magical object.

Aurora and Atlas' magic is certainly unique, but it has limitations just like any other magic. For one, Aurora can only call on certain souls at certain times, and can not capture any tarnished souls. And Atlas may not capture any soul at all, and starts to develop side effects of consuming particularly evil souls (hence some of his strange physical qualities)

"Hm, it says here our great aunt Margaret is willing to give away a quarter of her soul, the part that contains her physical appearance." Aurora read, examining a page in her book.

Atlas nodded. "That should be fine. In fact we can probably just take half of that quarter! All I need is the color of her hair and a little bit of her height."

"Sure." Aurora said. She extends her hand and casts another spell. "Soul Steal Magic: Release Soul, Margaret Edelias!"

The familiar green light of Aurora's magic erupted from the book once more, and a white soul orb slowly came from the page.

"Hey Auntie!" Atlas smiles, waving. "Mind if we borrow a little of you?"

"You kids…" An old female voice said, coming from the orb. "When will you stop relying on the dead to help you out?"

"Sorry Aunt Margaret," Aurora embarrassedly said. "We'll try and make this the last time, we promise!"

Aunt Margaret sighed. "You said this the last time…Go ahead, I know you'll do it anyway."

Atlas grinned, eagerly holding his hand out. "Love ya, Auntie! Soul Possession Magic: Devour!"

A bright green light shot from his hands and brought Aunt Margaret's soul close to him. He examined it for a moment before carefully picking a bit of her soul off with his hand.

"That tickles!" Aunt Margaret laughed. Atlas chuckled along with her.

He then wasted no time, and popped the bit of her soul into his mouth. "Mmm...tastes like candy!"

"Thank you, I'm sure that's what every woman wants to hear her soul tastes like…" Aunt Margaret sarcastically remarked. "May I return to the Afterworld now?"

"Yea, of course." Aurora nodded. "Thank you so much for the help. Soul Steal Magic: Capture!"

Aunt Margaret's soul slowly returned to Aurora's book, fading away as soon as it touched the page.

Aurora sighed in relief, closing the book. "I'm exhausted. Atlas, please give Matsu the needed qualities. I'm going to go make sure mother and father haven't called for the carriage yet."

"You got it sis!" Atlas beamed. He turned towards Matsu. "Ready little bro?"

Matsu had been silently watching the entire thing. "Yes, I am ready to become your triplet brother."

"I'm ready too!" Atlas cheered.

Aurora couldn't help but smile at the sight. Matsu may not be their real brother, but they care and love for him like one, that's for sure. It was going to be nice to have Matsu around more often, especially due to the fact they didn't have to hide him once they arrived at the Ace Kingdom.

Aurora quickly took her leave, leaving Atlas to do his thing.

BREAK

"Mother? Father?"

Aurora had heard commotion from the front of the house, and quickly made her way there.

Once she did, however, she wished she had taken her time…

"Ah, is this one of the little brats?"

Standing in the doorway was Zora Ideale, a former member of the esteemed Black Bulls and the military commander of the Ace Kingdom, appointed by the Wizard King himself.

Zora doesn't look much different from how he did during his time with the Black Bulls. He still has the same bright red hair, creepy looking mask, and scantily clad shirt, although it's thankfully a different one.

"Commander Zora…" Aurora dryly greeted. "It's nice to meet you."

"Likewise, little princess." Zora smirked. "Your parents were just telling me how excited you were to join the Sorcerer Soldiers. I hope you're all packed up, the carriage carrying Clover Kingdom citizens on their way to get their Ace Kingdom grimoires is a few minutes away."

"Few minutes?" Aurora gulped.

"I know it's a little sooner than expected, but this will be good for you and your brother." Mileena insisted, putting a hand on Aurora's shoulder.

"We didn't want to send you to the Ace Kingdom without Commander Zora's protection. Plus, there'll be a few members from the Sorcerer Soldiers too." Redford explained.

"It may seem a little excessive, but we just want to keep you guys safe." Zora said. "The Wizard King and even King Yuno are incredibly concerned, and it's my job to make sure this move goes smoothly."

Aurora slowly nodded. "...I understand. Please allow me a few moments to tell my brother."

"Sure thing." Zora nodded, leaning against the door frame.

"The servants will bring your bags out once you're ready." Redford said. Aurora smiled and took her leave.

Why now?! Aurora thought to herself. Atlas might not be ready with Matsu's appearance yet!

She hurried into her room, fully expecting Atlas to be in the middle of a spell…

But standing in front of her was a giggling Atlas and a boy she'd never seen before.

This boy looks incredibly like Matsu, but also incredibly like Atlas and herself. He has purple hair and is noticeably taller than a child, now being just about three inches shorter than Atlas. Instead of robes, he wears a fancy black tunic with a white vest, and white dress pants tucked into black boots.

"...Matsu?" Aurora said in an amazed tone.

"Hello sister." Matsu waved.

Aurora approached him, grabbing him by the shoulders to examine him thoroughly.

"What do ya think?" Atlas asked. "I tried to give him Aunt Margaret's eye sight but no dice."

"Still…" Aurora said. "He looks great! Nothing like the kid we've seen so far. This is probably more accurate to your actual age, Matsu."

"Maybe." Matsu said. "I still can't remember everything about my past."

"No worries, bud." Atlas reassured. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, let's just have some fun before it's time to go."

"Actually," Aurora interrupted. "It's time to go now. The carriage is probably already here."

Atlas' eyes widened. "For real?! Crap, we have to put Matsu away!"

"Believe me, I know," Aurora groaned. "My mana reserves must be shot at this point. Eh, it's whatever. Atlas, go greet Commander Zora and make sure our parents don't suspect anything. Tell them I'm last minute packing or something."

"Roger, roger." Atlas held out a thumbs up. "Matsu, I'll see you in a bit ok? We're just gonna put you away for now." He said as he gave Matsu a hug.

Matsu nodded, completely unmoving as Atlas hugged him.

"While Atlas is talking to our parents, I'll be putting you away, ok Matsu?" Aurora asked.

"Very well." He responded. "It is no problem to me."

Atlas gave Matsu one last hug and then left the room.

"Mom, dad, I'm ready!" He shouted as he ran up to them. He then noticed the red-haired man rolling his eyes at him. "Oh, hi, Commander Zora!"

"Jeez, so this is the Asta of the two?" Zora asked, turning towards Redford and Mileena.

Redford chuckled. "Yes, he has always been the excitable one. His sister and him are total opposites."

"Aurora is intelligent and fairly mannerly, while Atlas is...Atlas." Mileena laughed.

Atlas blushed, rubbing the back of his head. "Wow, mom, don't compliment me too much!"

"Where's your sister?" Mileena questioned. "Is she ready to go? I believe the carriage is pulling into our gates now."

"She's packing some last minute things." Atlas lied. "You know her and her fancy outfits. She packed double the bags I did!"

"That sounds like Aurora alright," Redford happily sighed, shaking his head. "I know it may not seem like it, but your mother and I will truly miss you two. We'd rather you stay here with us, but this is the best path to take if you really do wish to rule the Clover Kingdom one day as Wizard King and Queen with your sister."

"Wizard King, huh?" Zora repeated, rubbing his chin. "Y'know, our current Wizard King got to where he was with a shit load of hard work. It's no easy task, little man."

"Believe me, I know." Atlas nodded. "But I can do it! My sister and I have been training our whole lives. As long as we're together, there's no obstacle we can't face."

"Well, being Sorcerer Soldiers will definitely put you two to the test." Zora said. "We'll see if you really have what it takes."

Before Atlas could respond, Aurora entered the room, holding some bags. "Ready! I hope I'm not late!"

Just then, the sound of wheels scraping on the ground was heard from outside.

A giant white carriage came into view, with a wizard dressed in robes with the symbols of all the four original kingdoms driving it. Carriages in the Clover Kingdom are powered completely by magic, with no animals necessary to pull them.

"Looks like you're right on time." Zora said, turning towards the carriage. "Give me one second to greet our wizards. Er, sorcerers."

Zora made his way towards the carriage, while Redford and Mileena scurried to find a servant to take Atlas and Aurora's bags.

The twins nervously looked at each other.

"This is really happening…" Atlas whispered.

"Yup." Aurora sighed. "We couldn't stop it. But hey, maybe it really is for the best. After all, now we can see Matsu more often. And although it's not the Magic Knights, the Sorcerer Soldier squads should still offer quite a few opportunities."

"Let's hope so." Atlas nodded. "Once we get into the squad of our choosing, it'll be really fun. We can show people the power of the Soul Snatching Twins!"

Aurora smiled. "We'll get to go on a number of dangerous missions. You better be on your best behavior!"

Atlas grinned. "C'mon, I'm the king of safety."

"Sure." Aurora rolled her eyes.

Footsteps came from behind the twins, and a number of servants appeared, carrying several bags. Atlas and Aurora made way for them.

"We will miss you terribly, Master Atlas and Lady Aurora." One servant said.

"The manor will be unsettlingly quiet without your presences." Another added.

"Aw, I'll miss you guys too!" Atlas sniffed, his eyes slowly starting to water. "It won't be the same doing my bed and cleaning my room by myself…"

"I don't know what I'm going to do when you guys aren't there to cook for us." Aurora sighed, sadly looking at the ground.

The servants all quickly comforted the two, offering them words of encouragement and praise before rushing off to put their bags in the carriage.

Shortly after, Redford and Mileena appeared, slowly walking towards the twins. Their eyes were strangely red and watery.

"Mom? Dad?" Atlas asked. "You look like you caught a cold or something."

"No, no, we're fine." Mileena insisted, sniffing and dabbing at her eyes with her sleeves. "It's just...our two kids are finally going to take on the world."

"Uh, only because you made us." Aurora deadpanned.

"We want what's best for you." Redford said, putting a hand on his daughter's shoulder. "This will be the start of your adult journey. You may not realize it now, but every decision you make from now on will impact your future."

"From the people you surround yourself with to those you don't, others will also play a part." Mileena continued. "Make careful choices and be on your guard. You never know if someone is a true friend or foe."

"We know, we know," Aurora said. "There's not a more careful set of twins around."

"I hope so," Redford sighed. "I'll be praying everyday for your safety."

With that, Redford and Mileena pulled their children into a tight embrace, kissing the tops of their heads.

"We love you." They said, ignoring Atlas and Aurora's uncomfortable squirms.

"L-Love you too," Aurora said.

"Can you please let us go now?" Atlas said in a strained voice.

Redford laughed, letting go of them along with Mileena.

"Go, children! Take on the world!" He demanded, starting to push them out of the door.

"But be safe doing so!" Mileena pleaded.

The twins rolled their eyes, allowing themselves to be pushed out of the door.

As soon as they were outside, their faces burned a deep red.

Standing outside were several people, all staring at Atlas and Aurora with curious expressions.

A boy with blond hair and orange streaks waved at them with a smile.

An incredibly judgy looking woman with black hair and purple eyes looked at the two with slight disdain, but looked away upon noticing they caught her looking. What stuck out to Atlas and Aurora was the fact that she was wearing what looked like a Sorcerer Soldier robe.

A short girl with ginger hair looked at them with a bright smile. She was also wearing what looked like a Sorcerer Soldier robe, but different from the other woman's.

A tall man with blonde hair and a charming smile waved at the twins, wearing the same robe as the ginger haired girl.

And lastly, a strangely familiar looking man with curly white hair excitedly waved at the two kids. He was wearing a different robe as well, but also exuded a different aura than the rest of the people.

The twins could spot Zora talking to what looked like several other people inside the carriage.

"Well hello there!" The curly white haired man smiled. "You two are the Edelias twins, right?"

"Obviously." The judgy woman scoffed. "Have you been paying any attention to the itinerary at all? These two are the last ones we need to grab before heading back to Ace."

"Vice-Captain, do you think either of them will join our squad?" The ginger haired girl asked. "I don't know if I see Gray Fox material in either of them…"

"Hm, maybe the boy!" The tall blonde man suggested, rubbing his chin in thought. "Or, no, maybe the girl...I'm not sure, Captain Amaterasu, has a better eye for this type of thing…"

The boy with the blonde-orange hair didn't speak, instead grinning at the twins.

Atlas squinted. "Wait a second…"

Aurora also looked closer. "Isn't that…"

"Hey you two!" The boy finally said. "I'm sure you remember me, right? Joel of the noble House Sashunora if you need a refresher. Long time no see!"

"Joel!" Aurora gasped. "I haven't seen you in ages. Where have you been?"

Joel's smile slowly dropped. "It's a long story…" He admitted.

"Nice, you guys know each other!" The curly white haired man said. "There aren't a ton of mages from the Clover Kingdom on their way to get their grimoires from Ace, so this will be perfect for you guys. You can talk on the longgg journey there."

"I can't believe I came all this way just to visit my awful great-uncle and my parents." The woman complained.

"I'm sure your parents appreciated it, at least!" The ginger haired girl claimed. "You know, it's not everyday that Octavia Calmreich-Roulacase gets to come home to visit."

Atlas and Aurora's jaws almost dropped.

"Calmreich?!" Aurora repeated.

"Roulacase?!" Atlas said after.

"And what about it?" Octavia huffed, flipping her hair.

Octavia Calmreich-Roulacase, is a member of the Clover Kingdom's royal family. Hailing from House Kira, she is the daughter of the former king, Augustus Kira-Clover's niece, Finesse Calmreich. Finesse controversially chose to marry the disgraced son of House Vaude, Finral Roulacase, rather than her fiance at the time, Finral's brother Langris.

"I'm sure they're just excited to see you, Octavia." The tall blonde man claimed. "I for one know I was!"

"I agree, Adrien." The curly white haired man nodded. "Although Octavia is less than pleasant, it's somewhat exciting to see a member of the royal family out and about."

"Excuse me?" Octavia glared. "You have no room to talk, Gil, your squad is full of idiotic girls like Petula!"

"Hey!" Petula sadly frowned. "Words can hurt, y'know…"

"Um, sorry, did you just say 'your squad'?" Atlas questioned, nervously looking between Gil and Octavia.

"Yes, I did." Octavia answered in an annoyed tone. "Have you done any studying of the Ace Kingdom?"

Aurora shook her head. "No, sorry, we didn't even know we'd be moving there until the other day."

"No worries!" Petula smiled. "I was new once too. Gil here is the captain of one of the Ace Kingdom's several Sorcerer Squads, the Scarlet Coyotes."

Atlas looked like he was about to pass out. "Aurora...we're standing in the presence of a captain!"

"And vice captain." Adrien smirked. "Adrien Bordeaux, proud Vice Captain of the Gray Foxes!"

"I'm also a member of the Gray Foxes, Petula Kennarde." Petula added. "If you join, you'll be my squadmate!"

"You're obviously interested, so I suppose I'll tell you what squad I'm from." Octavia said. "The White Doves, but I doubt you two are fit to get in."

"All of us here are Sorcerer Soldiers who once lived here in the Clover Kingdom." Gil explained. "We took the opportunity to sign up for this 'protection squad' of sorts to handle some business!"

"But now it's back to Ace."

Everyone turned to see Zora standing in front of the carriage.

"Come on, guys. You've stretched your legs enough." Zora said. "With Atlas and Aurora here being our last two pick ups, it's time to start the journey back to the Ace Kingdom."
