Ace Kingdom Trivia with Aurora!

Hi everyone! Aurora here to provide with some fun facts about the Ace Kingdom. Although it's not nearly as great of a kingdom as the Clover Kingdom, it's still rather interesting, I guess…

Many people know that Ace is a playing card, die or domino with a single pip. In the standard French deck, an ace has a single suit symbol (a heart, diamond, spade, or clover) located in the middle of the card, sometimes large and decorated, especially in the case of the ace of spades.

Because of the whole ideology that the Ace Kingdom embodies all four kingdoms, the symbol of the Ace Kingdom is a heart, diamond, spade, and clover all in a circle, with an 'A' in the middle. If you're curious, the positions of each shape is in the order in which they appear on the map of the realm.

Spade is on the top, Heart to the left, Diamond to the right, and Clover on the bottom.

I for one think the symbol is a bit tacky, but I suppose it's pretty cool how they managed to incorporate all four of the kingdoms into one design.

Well, until next time! Now, sit back and relax as you read a brand new chapter!

Love,

Aurora (also if you'd please help sign the petition to get me and my brother back to the Clover Kingdom where we belong, it'd be greatly appreciated!)

"Who are you four?" Matsu asked. "I'd like to know your names, if possible."

"Sure thing!" Piercing boy beamed. "I'll go first! The name's…"

"Pollo Maniwa!" Piercing boy finished, flashing a cheesy peace sign and grinning like an idiot.

Pollo Maniwa is a boy with a heart of solid gold and a mind made of cotton candy - meaning while he is very good and kind, he can also be quite dimwitted and careless which gets him into trouble more often than not. He is quite similar to Atlas, although Atlas at least has a noble education that gives him some sort of common sense whereas Pollo is extremely lacking…

Pollo is a teenager of average height and weight with a toned, muscular build. He has blond hair, turquoise eyes, and peach-colored skin. And of course, he also has his defining trait of two piercings on his left ear.

He wears the very simple outfit of a grey tank top and brown shorts with plain black shoes.

"Pollo." Matsu said. "That is a curious name."

"Thanks!" Pollo said. "I like having such a unique name, it makes me a lot more interesting, don't you think?"

"You're already plenty interesting on your own." Aim mumbled, flashing the cheerful boy a judgmental look.

Matsu turned to Aim, the girl who had questioned his status as a noble. "...You know a lot about being a noble. Is it because you are one yourself?" He asked, tilting his head.

Aim nodded, putting a hand on her heart. "My name is Lady Aim Ars Valefar, the only child of the noble House Valefar family."

Aim is an Ace Kingdom noble, and a well known person known throughout the kingdom for the unusual effects resulting from her healing magic. Not too much is known about the exact affects, but people strangely seem to avoid her like the plague.

Aim is a short and thin girl, being dwarfed by most people her age, this gives her a sort of childlike appearance. She has light purple eyes, both of which possess an underlying hint of mischievousness and pride. Her dark, sangria purple hair is put up in a bob style, two tufts of hair stick up from the top of the sides of her head, resembling a pair of small devil horns, she thinks it makes her look respectable and womanly, when in fact it just makes her cute and adorable.

Her casual wear consists of a full-length, dark blue gown with long sleeves and a black belt cinched under her bust, or at least where her bust would be if she wasn't as flat as a board, her sleeves and collar both end in a golden highlight. Over this, she wears a purple robe which is draped over her shoulders with a gold fringe trimming. Around her neck she wears a silver necklace which possesses an exquisite, glowing, sapphire gem located towards the front of it.

"Your outfit is very extravagant," Matsu noted. "Are you not uncomfortable?"

Aim quickly shook her head. "Not in the slightest. It's important to uphold your status as a noble, so I believe in wearing clothing that dresses to impress. Today is an important day so I must wear clothing that reflects that."

"Tomorrow is also important," The scary looking boy pointed out. "Are you going to wear the same thing again?"

Aim shook her head again. "Tomorrow is the start of the Sorcerer Soldier squad exams. I can only imagine what kind of physical activity they'll have us do, so I'll be donning appropriate attire for that. I imagine Princess Sherry and you and your siblings will be doing the same thing." Aim explains, turning towards Matsu.

"I much prefer just wearing the same thing." The scary looking boy smiled. "I believe my clothing is not too casual while also not being overwhelmingly extravagant."

Matsu looked the boy over. He has the appearance of a walking talking corpse. He's a tall, skinny young boy and has pale, almost sickly white skin and narrow purple eyes. He has long dark red hair tied up into a ponytail with side bangs that tend to cover his face most of the time.

It appears that he's already ready for the impending exams. He wears a red long sleeved cloth shirt and black cloth pants with plain brown boots. Over that Jasper wears a full suit of leather armor. Cuirass, pauldrons, bracers, greaves and all.

"What is your name?" Matsu asked.

The scary looking boy turned towards him. "Jasper Tillie! It is very, very nice to meet you!" He said in a polite tone.

Jasper Tillie is a peasant, through and through. There's really not a whole lot known about him other than the fact that he apparently is on a mission to improve his healing magic to achieve something specific. He also is an Ace Kingdom aficionado, with a ton of knowledge on the inner workings of the Ace Kingdom and its eight sorcerer soldier squads.

"Isn't it cool how we're almost all peasants?" Pollo laughed, turning towards Jasper and the teal haired boy. "Aim and Matsu here are outnumbered!"

"Well, to be fair," The teal haired boy said. "I'm not exactly sure what I am!"

"Why is that?" Matsu questioned.

"Ah well, I can't remember much of my early life." The teal haired boy explained. "I spend a majority of my childhood at an orphanage."

"Talk about Asta and Yuno vibes," Pollo sadly frowned. "Sorry to hear that, man!"

"No big deal." The teal haired boy smiled. "Now I get to experience the interesting life of being a Sorcerer Soldier. Ah, I should probably introduce myself to you, Matsu. My name is Runeous, but you may call me 'Ru'!"

Ru has a head of teal hair that reaches about his mid back when not tied up, which he usually keeps in a tight ponytail knot that falls down his back with a couple of strands of hair falling down his face. He has slightly pointed ears and sharp bright green eyes and a decently handsome face. His build is that of a runner athlete, being built more for speed and dodging than strength and muscles, but still has lean muscles just not anything crazy.

He wears a green short sleeved shirt and a light black vest. On the shirt and vest are lines of runic symbol designs. He wears gloves made of black leather with what looks like a metal cuff on the wrist part, lines go from the fingertips to the metal cuff and are colored white. To finish his outfit are dark colored trousers and boots.

Ru isn't lying when he says he doesn't know a whole lot about himself. This orphan grew up in the Heart Kingdom, and lived in a village near the border ever since he can remember. To spice up his life and learn new things, he jumped at the chance to apply for the Sorcerer Soldier squad exams.

"I hope at least some of us end up in the same squads," Ru smiled. "It'd be nice to have some people you know in a squad with you."

"Very true," Jasper sighed. "To be quite honest, I am a little nervous about that."

"Eight different squads, each with different values and themes." Aim said, tapping a finger on her chin.

"As long as I do end up passing the exams and making it into a squad, I'll be happy!" Pollo chuckled.

Matsu watched the four converse, thinking about what he knew about the Ace Kingdom and the eight different squads.

Each squad is led by a captain, with support from a vice captain. Up until now, every member of a squad had been hand picked by a captain, who felt as though they were up to the task to join the Sorcerer Soldiers and their squad.

So far, Matsu hasn't met anyone on a squad or heard anything about any of the squads. He was just about to ask the four about them, when he spotted something very unusual.

Joel, who Matsu had heard Atlas and Aurora talk about from time to time, was struggling to communicate with a boy wearing a mask.

Feeling curious, Matsu decided to go investigate, leaving the four alone without a word.

"Hey!" Pollo called, trying to get Matsu's attention. "Where are you going?"

But Matsu was already gone, so Pollo sighed and just resumed the conversation with the others.

Joel and masked boy stood off to the side of the crowd, Joel desperately waving his hands around to try and explain something. Matsu approached the two.

"No, an orange is a fruit, I'm asking you if you're excited to get your grimoire!" Joel exasperatedly said, looking quite defeated.

The mask boy nodded. "Orange, orange."

"What's the problem?" Matsu questioned, turning to Joel.

Joel raised a brow as soon as he saw him. "Hey, who're you? You look really familiar…"

"Ah, I am Lord Matsu Edelias, brother of Aurora and Atlas." Matsu explained. "My siblings have talked about you before. You are Joel, yes?"

Joel nodded. "Yeah! Though, not to be mean or anything, how'd you know how I looked? I mean, your eyes...they're covered."

Matsu nodded understandingly. "Yes, I am blind. My eyes were burned from acid when I was younger. Due to my blindness, I've learned to adapt and read people's magic energy as opposed to having to see their face. This way I can differentiate between people. Furthermore, my siblings are the Soul Snatching twins, with an incredible affinity to capture people's souls. They can do this even without the use of magic. Every person they come into contact with leaves a bit of their soul behind with them, as the soul is drawn to their power, especially Atlas. As their brother, I've managed to read every single person's soul that they've met and match it to the magic energy I feel from people. Your soul and magic energy have the same reading, and based on what I feel from both of those, I determined that you are Joel Sashunora."

Joel's eyes were wide, looking at Matsu with amazement. "Oh wow, I had no idea Atlas and Aurora's brother was so talented! Tell me, is your magic like theirs too, where you can manipulate souls?"

Matsu shook his head. "No. Anyways, what is the problem with this boy?"

Matsu looked at the masked boy, who had been silent after his comment on oranges.

He is a slim and tall young man with light skin and copper brown hair. He bears marks around his cheeks (at least the visible parts not covered by his mask) and he has red eyes.

He wears a white shirt with a collar high jacket that covers half of his face like a mask, plain grey pants with black half boots, he also wears a mask to cover the lower half of his face, on top of the jacket which already covers half of his face.

"He won't say yes, no, or anything really other than his name." Joel sighed. "I'm not sure the problem."

"He can say his name?" Matsu questioned. "What is it?"

"Syla Vovmaker." The boy suddenly said in a very raspy voice.

"Syla Vovmaker." Matsu repeated. "I am Matsu Edelias. Tell me, is something wrong with your voice?"

"Apple!" Syla said with a nod.

"Yes." Matsu translated, turning to Joel.

"How'd you know that?!" Joel gasped, looking quite shocked.

"Well, when someone nods their voice sounds lower when they're head is pointed up, and louder when it's pointed down. This is how I know he was nodding. Sometimes you have to pay attention to what someone is doing, not what they are saying." Matsu explained.

"So, oranges and apples apparently mean 'yes.'." Joel surmised. "But what I don't get is why you can't just say yes, Syla. What's the problem?"

Syla frowned, thinking for a moment before sighing and pulling out a notebook. He quickly wrote something down and showed it to Matsu and Joel.

Words can hurt because of my magic

"I get it!" Joel said. "You can't say certain words because it may trigger your magic.

"So you've developed a system of 'code words' to use instead." Matsu realized. "Very smart."

"Lavender!" Syla cheered, then immediately let out a cough after, clutching his throat.

"Must hurt to talk." Joel sadly frowned. "Lavender...a healing herb. Does that mean you're happy?"

Syla nodded, still recovering from the pain of saying so many words.

"Hm, I'm going to figure you out, Syla!" Joel vowed. "I want to understand what you're saying, and learn how you communicate so you can have someone to talk to!"

"That is pretty nice of you." Matsu pointed out. "You will have to relay that information to me later. I think it is about time I go back to my brother and sister."

"You got it, Matsu." Joel smiled. "I'll see ya around!"

"Chamomile!" Syla quickly said, before once again violently coughing. Matsu just waved and walked back towards Atlas and Aurora while Joel awkwardly comforted Syla.

"SHUT UP YOU ROYAL SCUMBAG!"

Is what Matsu heard as he approached his 'siblings'. The two were still in the midst of arguing with Admetus, with a defeated Glynis ignoring them and picking flowers off of the ground.

"Hello." Matsu said from behind Atlas and Aurora.

The two both jumped in surprise, immediately turning around.

"Geez Matsu, you scared the hell out of me!" Atlas remarked, clutching his heart.

"For real," Aurora agreed. "Also, where have you been? We've been trying to get away from this loser so we could go looking for you as soon as we noticed you were missing."

("YOU DID NOT JUST CALL ME A LOSER!") "I was talking with some of the people here." Matsu answered. "They all seem very interesting, but I am getting rather bored."

"Sorry, Matsu." Aurora sighed. "I'm not sure when they're going to come out and grab us to get our grimoire-"

DING, DING, DING

Suddenly, a loud bell rang out, and the door to the Grimoire Distribution Center opened up.

All eyes turned towards the door, as the area grew quiet. Slowly, a man made his way out of the GDC and into the open.

At first glance, he just looks like a regular old man, wearing the traditional uniform of a priest.

However, Atlas and Aurora immediately knew he was something far more than a regular old man…

"Children!" The man called. "Welcome to Ace Kingdom's first grimoire distribution! I look forward to handing you your grimoires in just a few moments. As this is the first time the Ace Kingdom is doing this, please bear with us for just a while longer."

As the man spoke, Aurora and Atlas gave each other a look.

"...Who is he?" Atlas wondered. "He looks so familiar!"

"Hm, an old man priest…" Aurora twirled her hair in thought. "Old man priest…"

"Not only is this the Ace Kingdom's first grimoire distribution, it also happens to be my first too!" The man chuckled. "I was appointed by the King and Wizard King themselves, actually. They finally decided to pay some attention to the man who raised them!"

Aurora and Atlas instantly gasped.

"The man who raised them!" Atlas repeated. "Than can only mean one thing!"

"My name is Father Orsi Orfai, the former priest of Hage Village and the current High Priest of the Ace Kingdom!" The man enthusiastically said. "Plus, on a more unofficial note, the man who changed Asta and Yuno's diapers!"
