Epilogue
A Few Months Later
It was winter in New York. The snow stuck to the ground and everyone was bundled head to toe in their coziest clothes bustling about their days. Maya stood outside the theater feeling every bit of nostalgia creep through her bones. It was the exact same theater she auditioned in almost a year ago. People were running in grabbing their seats for tonights performance. Looking up at the Marquee above the building, Maya read the sign. America's Best Dancer: The Tour! She hadn't seen him since that night at the beach in LA. Sure, she saw him online and they called or texted every once in a while but it was hard. They did what they thought was best. And it was at the time but now Maya wasn't so sure.
Walking into the building her blonde hair bounced around her shoulders in a fit of curls as her red trench coat hugged her tiny frame. Maya sat and watched the show amongst the crowd taking in every waking moment and never losing focus every time Josh danced upon the stage. He didn't know that she was here. She wanted to surprise him and surprise him she would. The show soon ended and Maya made her way to the backstage door where she knew he'd exit from. It's where he had a habit of leaving from Maya noticed online over the past few months.
Her pale cheeks were flushed pink from the cold as she stood there waiting with her hands in her pockets. Soon Josh exited through the door and stopped in his tracks, shocked to see her there. "Maya?"
Maya smiled nodded her head. "I know. You're shocked to see me. I didn't think I'd be here right now either."
Josh took a few steps towards her and took note of the snow that began to fall. "Maya it's freezing out here. I should get you inside."
Josh made a move to lead Maya inside but she stopped him. "No it's okay. I like the cold. I am a native New Yorker after all."
Josh laughed to himself and smiled. "Yeah, you're right."
The pair took a moment and just stared at each other taking in the other's presence. Maya broke the silence. "I've missed you."
"I know I've missed you too and I've-"
"No," Maya cut him off. Josh was a bit startled by her cut off so Maya smiled and apologized. "Sorry. What I mean is you're always giving the big romantic speeches and now its my turn."
Josh pulled on the beanie that sat upon his head and nodded. "Okay," he said smiling.
"You have always had faith in us. Even when I didn't. You've always fought for us so now I'm going to." Maya paused and took another good look at the brunette with big blue eyes that stood in front of her. "I love you. That didn't change on the beach and it hasn't changed since. You said that you were going to marry me one day. And I hate to break it to you but that has to happen or else I don't know what I might do you know? I could go crazy or something or-"
Maya began to ramble losing focus and Josh laughed bringing Maya back to him. "What I'm saying is I want to be with you. Now. No matter the circumstances. In fact I'm going to do everything in my power to make those circumstances minimal." Maya took a deep breath and stared Josh directly in his eyes. "I left my company."
Josh's eyes widened as he took a step towards Maya. "You what? Maya you can't just do that do you know how hard it is to get a job with a company like that? You-"
Maya held her hand up signaling Josh to stop. "It doesn't matter to me. You matter more. I want to do this with you, I want to date you and get to know you and meet your family and I want you to meet mine. I want it all with you."
Josh was in shock but damn was he in love. He stared at the girl in front of him and shook his head in pure disbelief. Taking a step towards her he said, "God I love you." Josh cupped her face gently in his hands and kissed her softly on the lips as their cold lips met to a warm embrace. Pulling away from the kiss he kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. "But wait," he began. "I know you Maya. There's another reason why you're here and I have a feeling I know what it is."
Maya looked up at him from her position within his arms and smiled softly. "I got the same call you did," she whispered. "Sure I definitely got it after I quit my job which made it all the more appealing but knowing that there's a chance I'd be doing it with you made it all the more appealing."
"So you really wanna do this?" Josh asked. "And I mean both things. Us and the job?"
Maya laughed in his arms and pecked his lips as more snow fell around them creating a cascade of white fluff around them. "Of course. You are the literal love of my life after all. Plus starring in a dance movie with my hot dancer boyfriend fresh off his big win? Hell yeah."
Josh laughed and smiled the biggest smile he had ever given. "I love you so much." Pulling her in tighter and kissing her again he smiled. "So we're making a movie?"
"We're making a movie."
A/N: I appreciate anyone who has stuck around the last few tough chapters. I don't expect any of you to understand why I did it. I could explain but I'm pretty sure none of you care. That was the Epilogue which officially marks the end of First Dance. I do plan to make a direct sequel to this either this week or next and carry on their romance as they really get to date and be together in the real world as they film a dance movie in Atlanta. Which will definitely be hotter and more romantic in so many ways that I'm excited to explore whether I have readers or not. Take Care.
