Chapter 0 'The Past' (A.K.A. 'Shameless Exposition' and 'Future prequel?')

Lady Harleen Dahlia Potter-Black, 'Harley' or 'Lia' to her friends and family, heir and later head of the most ancient and most noble houses of Potter and Black, as well as some other families that are not in their last name because of reasons, was an accomplished and powerful young witch. She was a metamorphmagus, though she almost never changed herself too much, limiting herself to her hair, eyes, and some other small things about herself (you wouldn't want to get slapped by her as she tended to get proper claws and fangs to intimidate people when she got pissed).

(AN: Harry isn't a metamorphmagus, she is one due to sheer randomness and 'reasons' and yes, I'm using nobility fanon because I like it, even if it doesn't affect this story all that much)

She had 2 unusual 'prototype wands', as Ollivander called them, though she always kept one in a wrist holster as a backup.

While the twins got their wands and holsters, Hagrid went ahead and got them a gift for their 11th birthday, a couple of female snowy owls who had unusually white feathers with few dark spots. This owl would eventually be named 'Athena' after being called a 'Snowball' by Harley due to her playfulness.

(AN: Hedwig survives in this story thanks to Harley blasting the death eater that cast the curse that hit her in canon but, Hedwig won't have a recurrent role like Athena does in this story. As for Athena, her nickname/s due to her personality will be 'Snowball' and/or 'Snowflake')

While in Hogwarts it was rumoured that her wand was custom made from 4 different woods and 4 cores, this rumour was true of course, though people hardly believed it. It was an extremely powerful wand, and it in fact was custom made by Ollivander with materials he already had available on the day she came into the shop, as no other wand would fit the young witch, not even wands made from 2 woods and 2 cores that he made for particularly powerful wizards and witches that needed a better conduit for their magic.

(AN: Blame Ollivander, he made her the 2 wands because of 'reasons' and gave her 2 undetectable wrist holsters because of the same 'reasons').

Like Hermione, she got herself a time-turner in her third year and she was delighted in seeing Harry and Ron totally confused when she showed up in class. Hermione was the one to keep her from pranking Draco using the time-turner.

In her fourth year she became an Animagus (just to prove it was possible to be an animagus while being born a metamorphmagus) and found it incredibly easy. She could turn into a magical rare wolf called a 'silver wolf' (A magical dire wolf also known as an 'amarok', that had white, almost platinum white, fur).

Her success in becoming an animagus while being a metamorphmagus also let her know that she could shift not only the physical characteristics of her base animagus form, such as size or fur coloration, but also shift species (granted she had to study the species and in order to turn back to a human she had to go back to her base form).

Because of this, her eventual registry with the ministry of magic after the war and the thesis she wrote about metamorphmagi becoming animagi when she finished school was 'fun' to say the least, it thew a wrench into the widely known fact that every animagi had an identifying trait in their animal form (Spoiler: She didn't have an identifying trait).

She was an excellent flyer and while she would have been a great seeker as her brother was, she became a chaser on her first year as well, this was because she instinctively shifted her eyes to see and almost instantly catch the golden snitch, Oliver Wood kept her 'seeker talent' a secret and got her to act as a substitute for Harry if it was needed. In fact, that same year she played as the seeker in the game against Ravenclaw while Harry and company got the philosopher's stone away from Voldemort.

The twins got nimbus 2000s as a gift from McGonagall and she eventually upgraded to a nimbus 2001 in the same colour scheme as her first broom before Sirius gave the twins their first Firebolts.

(AN: We are never told that the Nimbus 2001 couldn't be coloured differently. Also, her brooms didn't break as Harry's Nimbus 2000 did and she still uses them for different purposes; In this AU Harry didn't lose his Firebolt in 1997 and he got himself a Firebolt Supreme when it came out)

She claimed her titles and family vaults when she became of age, and when the war ended this caused a lot of confusion because everyone thought Harry was the eldest and thus the heir. The twins took care of the paperwork needed to claim everything thy now owned and decided that while she was the lady of the house, it would be harry who made several of the political decisions as he was going to work in the ministry before her, at least while she finished school and other things she had an interest in (Like completing the training to be a Healer even if she never went to work at St Mungo's).

The potter manor was incredible, it was so large it would have been impossible to clean it without the use of house-elves or cleaning charms. Of course, they had Dobby and Kreacher, but imagine their surprise when they entered the manor and were greeted by Gaddy, Dinkey, Feesy and Feely, 2 male and 2 female house-elves that looked rather well cared for and looked extremely happy that the 'heirs' of the House of Potter had returned.

Out of them, Dobby (who survived and was a free elf) and Kreacher (formerly the Black's house-elf) chose to work with Harry most of the time, Feesy and Feely chose to work with Harley most of the time and Gaddy and Dinkey chose to work in the manor unless they were asked to do something else.

In 2001 after competing her healer training, Harley finally became an Auror in the DMLE and rose through the ranks becoming the leader of her team while brother become head auror in 2007. Before this however, the most hilarious accident happened. She became the Mistress of Death.

You must know for starters, that she as the eldest sibling was the owner of the invisibility cloak, yes… Harry used it the most, but SHE was the owner.

Then just after the war and once classes had resumed, she found the resurrection stone her brother dropped and abandoned in the forest while out on a walk with Hermione.

And then in 2005 she got into a duel as part of a training exercise… and she accidentally knocked out and disarmed Harry when her opponent sidestepped her spells and the safety wards of the arena failed…

Neither she nor her brother or her friends would know the side effects of becoming death's mistress until much later.

Early in 2008 she took a long vacation in America and became aware of the newest developments in technomancy and magitek, the disciplines of magic that adapt muggle technology and promote magical technology development. She discovered that Britain was a little bit outdated regarding this and when she returned, she tried to convince her friends and co-workers to at least use magitek phones and computers (these obviously were phones and computers adapted and powered with magic) though she found herself using owl post for most things.

She got into collecting brooms as both a joke and out of spite to those who originated said joke (George, Fred and Ron Weasley) by saying that she had too many brooms and that she could have a small sled pulled by them (apparently having 3 of the fastest brooms in the market was having too many brooms), buying 2 new 'Firebolt', 'Nimbus 2000' and 'Nimbus 2001' and 3 of the newest model in both the Firebolt and Nimbus series, the 'Firebolt supreme' and the 'Nimbus 2010'. From all her brooms, 2 of each were going to the collection and one for use, and she also bought a golden snitch and a quaffle before buying a full quidditch set and its respective trunk for her collection (she always loved the sport).

The moment she had all her brooms stored she said something to Ron that she will forever remember because of the small chuckle she got from the redhead "I don't know if it's even possible but the only bad I regret about not getting more brooms earlier is that Fred will never get to see a sled pulled by them, there is also the fact that I don't own a sled… Yet".

She had to learn a 'Self-maintenance' charm for her collection and in all honesty, she used said charm and an 'Anti-theft' charm on pretty much everything she owned that could use it because it pretty much restored the items to as if they just left the manufacturers.

This included but was not limited to: her collection (obviously), her wands, wand holsters, her and her brothers magically expanded rucksacks, 2 magically expanded beaded handbags (one of them was a gift from Hermione), several magically expanded trunks and mokeskin pouches, 3 rather large potion making kits she owned(one of them was her brother's potion making kit), a copy of 'The Marauders Map' that she managed to make, her photo album, an enchanted Switchblade, an enchanted razorblade (because even if she was a metamorphmagus she still had body hair), her magitek phone and laptop (or phones and laptops because she eventually upgraded to newer models), a communication mirror set, her extra snitch and quaffle, a muggle bow and arrow set, a rather large magical tent she got in America (a portable small mansion that the Malfoys would have been proud of if they saw it), etc.

In mid-late 2009 she was window shopping for a few things in Diagon Alley, including potion supplies, a new set of American made metal-tipped self-inking quills and 2 American made fountain pens with an enchantment to make sure the ink didn't run dry (as long as you provided magical energy to it), more parchment an a few new books when she saw a newly opened shop that had magical tents and magical survival gear.

This shop 'The Wizarding Outdoorsman' she noticed, quickly became her target after buying everything on her list and the shop owner gladly talked to her about the items they had. Needless to say, she exited the shop with 3 sets of gear that could survive pretty much being thrown into the sun inside one of her trunks.

The sets included but were not limited to: The largest camping backpack available with the largest undetectable extension charms available, the largest magical tent she could find that were certified for a comfortable setup even in the harshest conditions (the Malfoys would have been jealous they didn't get one first) , 2 sets of magical knifes and tools that were certified to never lose their edge in the required task, 2 sets of magical knifes made specifically for skinning and gutting and had enchantments for accuracy and skill mastery, 4 sets of 15 goblin-steel and goblin-silver throwing knifes (2 of each with accuracy, sharpness, piercing, durability, range, skill mastery and ammo-recovery/ammo conjuration in the holsters, etc.), 2 sets of magical bow and arrow sets with enchantments for almost anything (durability, range, accuracy, piercing, skill mastery, ammo recovery, ammo durability, ammo conjuration, self-cleaning/maintenance, etc.), 2 sets of crossbow and bolts with the same enchantments and 2 sets of 2 micro crossbows and their quivers, one of these was rather normal and the other set had 2 of what some people called a 'Doppelarmburst' which features a double crossbow with the bolts being in 3 different sizes to conjurate into the quiver and even more impressive the fact that for a few extra galleons an enchantment was added to conjurate hollow bolts that the user could then fill with whatever potion or poison chose.

The sets of gear also had 2 sets of magical fishing rods and tackle with enchantments that ensured the lines never broke or deteriorated and the enchantments that made the lures always return to the owner along with accuracy, reeling, skill mastery and other enchantments that by this point is redundant to mention.

She was almost done with putting the sets together when she thought of adding 2 sets of proper mountaineering gear to every set, these sets included Dragonhide boots both for hiking and mountaineering, goblin-steel crampons, 2 handheld ice axes, rope designed and enchanted to extend for as long as it's needed, a harness, etc. (and obviously everything was enchanted to be the most reliable gear she could get).

She also bought several sets of clothes to go with each set and pretty much for every possible environment, and she absolutely made sure they were up to par with said sets, no item of clothing was devoid of enchantments. Dragonhide, mokeskin and other similarly durable and magical materials made up these clothes.

The fishing sets and a switchable 'flaming-ammo' charm for the quivers of the bows and crossbows (not micro crossbows) were a surprise gift that the shop owner gave Harley because of the large order.

The coolest part? She didn't have to add her self-maintenance or anti-theft charms and even learned an 'undetectable storage' charm specifically designed as a 'pocket dimension' by a Japanese wizard to instantly materialize or dematerialize items, the same charm or at least the item summoning part of it recovered the arrows or the bolts she got. The charm had a few flaws however, the item had to be owned by her and she had to be bonded to it (not a problem for magical items but muggle items could not be stored or summoned), and if the item she was storing or summoning was bigger than a certain size, like for example, a bow, a crossbow, the quivers, a fishing rod or one of her brooms, the spell would work and store or summon the item but, there would be a blueish outline of it that would glow and fall away like sparks after a second at most (this wasn't a problem in magical communities but when it was discovered by the Ministry and other magical governments, the spell was only taught if it was absolutely necessary and if you worked in or got permission from the Ministry)

(AN: The spell is a reference to FFXV as it is one of the few FF I've played and she uses it as an upgrade to her wand holsters, she has 2 undetectable wrist holsters and both her spare and elder wands in said pocket dimension and her main wand she's used since she was 11 in the wrist holster on her right hand. It is also how she will have several trunks, pouches and the second beaded bag with her at all times)

She bought all of this because of the little trauma caused by the unpreparedness they had been in when they hunted the horcruxes and gave one to Harry as a birthday gift

He in turn gave her first magical motorcycle, he had upgraded Sirius' bike and got himself a newer model and he knew that even with her brooms she always wanted a bike and planned to get one in December and so, thinking of the same joke, got her a different model: a black, red, silver and gold Harley Davidson chopper that came out that year.

She returned to 'The Wizarding Outdoorsman' in the tail end of 2009 as he had asked about RVs on her earlier visit and finally got herself 2 of the newest state of the art magical RVs, and not even this purchase put a dent or a scratch in the family vault. One of them was the size of al large mansion (same as the newest tents she had bought) with over 40 rooms between bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, recreational areas, a very large library. The other one was the size of a small mansion (the same relative size as her smallest tent) with just over 20 but below 30 rooms including the same amenities as the previously mentioned with the exception of the library that wasn't as large.

(AN: The spell can't store items that are too big as it does have a size limit, however this could be bypassed with a shrinking charm, for example: The RVs cannot be stored without shrinking them and shrinking or unshrinking them, in a non-magical community could break the International Statute of Secrecy. The same breach would occur if items that are too big but within the limit are summoned, like the previously stated fishing rod, her broom, or in the case of weapons a dagger, sword or a bow/crossbow. Items like arrows and bolts, throwing knifes or the micro crossbows are completely safe and storing or summoning them is untraceable and undetectable)

Early in 2010 after finally convincing Harry to get himself a magitek phone and a laptop (and upgrading her own), the twins got a letter from Gringotts inviting them for a meeting with several goblins including Gringotts head goblin, they didn't see a reason to deny the invitation because it had been several years after the final investigations into the whole 'we broke in and stole a horcrux' were done and a couple of years after a some mid-term investments proved very profitable for the goblins.

They were received rather well when they entered and after a bit of discussion from both parts, the goblins were happier with the Potter duo than they had been with a wizard in a long time.

The goblins surprised them even further when they presented an honest gift for the House of Potter, a beautiful ceremonial magical sword, and one gift for each of them, this gift was a goblin-made magical one-handed longsword. 2 goblin-made magical twin short swords and 4 goblin-made magical daggers along with a note that stated that the goblin-works them being goblin-silver or goblin-iron, they had 'purchased' or had been 'gifted' to them by another wizard up to the moment the note was handed to them, did in fact belong to them and to the House of Potter to use and pass along as they saw fit with the condition that the items would remain in the House of Potter.

When they left the bank and got to the manor where Ginny and Harry's kids were waiting in, they were in a daze, an honest gift from the goblins was pretty much unheard of and they probably should keep that fact a secret. Just to be sure.

The Potter manor had become Harley's home a few years back, while Harry kept Sirius' home, but the kids loved coming to visit Harley. Especially little Lily (her niece and goddaughter) who was a saint in Harleys eyes. James and Albus however, always tried to prank her in some small way, and she thought they would become the third generation of marauders (they never really succeeded in pranking her).

In July of 2010 she packed her trunks with almost anything she could think of (including her gear, weapons and her entire garage) and went on another vacation to America, this time with Luna and they were going on a road trip. They wanted to visit some of the muggle museums and tourist spots and the magical communities in America so, having all the paperwork needed for them and the two elves that worked best with Harley done, they took an international portkey to New York and once Harley got over the funny feeling international portkeys gave her, they got in the smaller RV with some destinations already in mind.
