"Now that's an interesting contraption," I muse. I walk around the lone doorframe standing in the middle of my uncle's garage, noting that it is hooked up to multiple other pieces of equipment in the garage. The door itself is shut, but there is a faint humming coming from it that intrigues me. Since when do doors hum?

I walk closer, examining it. Wires are connected to the door in random places. Following them, I discover that some of them lead to a computer on a nearby table. I frown, glancing around to make sure no one is in the garage, then turn it on. A few of the machines purr to life as the screen on the computer lightens. I glance around again, this time noting which machines have turned on. Then I look back at the contents on the computer. Scrolling down, I quickly scan the typing, murmuring aloud to myself. "A minute equals a day... any world you wish... time is different... almost ready..."

I finally reach the end of what appears to be a report of whatever research my uncle is doing. "Weird."

I walk back over to the odd contraption standing in my uncle's garage. I examine it again, an idea forming in my mind. What would happen if I open the door? My mind is going wild with all sorts of crazy ideas, each one more inviting than the last. I circle the doorframe, stepping over wires and a couple of machines, and then stop. I am standing in front of the door. It looks so harmless, and so incredibly intriguing. Curiosity wars with reason in my head.

It's probably dangerous- look at all the wires!

But my uncle would never create anything that would hurt someone.

It's a bad idea. You'll get in a lot of trouble, just like last time.

No, I won't. I'm not going to hurt anything, I just want to look. If it's not ready yet, it won't do anything anyway.

Don't do it, Vikki. Curiosity killed the cat.

I smile.

But the cat has nine lives.

Reaching out, I gingerly put my hand on the door handle. Nothing happens, so I grip it and slowly turn it counterclockwise. Still nothing. Looking around once more, I determine that no one is in the garage. Taking a deep breath, I turn back to the door.

Then I push it open.

I sit up, gasping, my heart racing at a hundred miles an hour. I jump to my feet, blinking and trying to adjust my eyes to the darkness that surrounds me. What is going on? What happened? I look around, my eyes darting everywhere, but I can't see anything! My heart starts beating even faster, which I didn't know was possible. Would I be in the dark forever?

Then, the black world around me slowly starts to lighten, almost like dawn breaking over the horizon. I begin to back up, looking frantically around me, trying to figure out where I am. Within a few moments, it's clear that I'm in some sort of tunnel. I bump into something behind me, then jump forward and spin around in shock, only to discover it's the wall of the tunnel. I stand there for a minute, breathing hard, trying to calm my heart down and make sense of what is happening. I begin to talk myself through it, as I usually do when I'm nervous about something.

"Ok...calm down, Vikki. You can figure this out. What happened? Uhhhhhh..." I glance around the tunnel, which is lit by some sort of electric lighting, as though it will tell me what happened. Then I remember. "Oh, right. I opened that stupid door in Uncle's garage...so where the heck am I?" I frown. "This is definitely not the garage..."

My heart has slowed considerably by now as I use logic and reasoning to understand my situation. I force my mind to calm down, and I begin to take in my surroundings. There isn't much to see. A concrete tunnel that looks slightly familiar extends to my right and to my left. Squinting, I can see where the tunnel widens a few hundred feet to the right, and I'm pretty sure I can see a few vehicles parked there. To the left, I can't really tell what I'm seeing, so I begin heading towards the vehicles on the right, staying close to the wall. My eyes continually dart all around me, watching for anything out of the ordinary. My whole body is tense, my senses on full alert as I walk. My skin prickles with fear. Is someone watching me? No, it's not possible, I scanned every inch of this tunnel before moving. It has to be my imagination.

I continue forward, not allowing my imagination to run away with me. I have to stay calm and collected, use my head, control the fear. I've seen a ton of action/spy movies, and I try to implement what I've seen, constantly glancing around and behind me, walking and breathing as quietly as possible. I hope that will be enough.

As I get closer to the vehicles, I can suddenly hear multiple voices filter down through the tunnel. I instantly shrink back against the wall, listening and trying to pinpoint where the voices are coming from. Definitely coming from the room with the vehicles. But I can't see anyone, so they must be around the corner. I'm still around one hundred feet from the opening, and there is nowhere to hide in this blasted tunnel. Continue forward, or turn back?

I sigh. I guess I'll keep going. If I get caught, I'll just-

Just then, I hear something behind me. I tense, then spin around. I'm just in time to see a fist flying at my face. Then everything goes black again.

My first sensation is of a jackhammer pounding away at my head, refusing to let up. I groan, but my voice sounds far away and not my own. My next sensation is of someone pulling on my arms. I slowly start to wake up, but I can't quite get my eyes to open. Then all of a sudden, the pressure on my arms ceases, and I feel myself falling, and my head smacks into something. I yelp, my eyes popping open. I blink, trying to get my bearings as the world clears. I realize I must be lying on the floor, because there are three men towering over me, looking down at me. "What..." I mumble, frowning. Two of the men look very familiar...

I gasp, realizing in an instant who they are, and jump up. Then I groan, swaying on my feet as the world turns in circles. I grab my head, hearing one of the men say something, but not knowing what he said. I focus, and the world slowly settles back into place as my head clears. I take a deep breath to make sure I'm ok, then look up. Three men are staring at me. #1 is unfamiliar other than the all-black style of clothing that he is wearing. #2 is also dressed in all black, but he has a quiver of arrows on his back and a bow in his hand. #3 looks completely different. He's wearing a green, black, and gold set of battle armor, with a golden scepter in his hand and a horned helmet on his head. There is no mistaking who he is.

"Tom Hiddleston!"

All three of the men immediately frown. "What?" the odd-dressed one says. I'm too excited to notice how confused he looks.

"Oh my gosh! I've wanted to meet you for like, forever! And you too, Jeremy Renner! This is amazing!" I stop gushing for a moment, seeing that none of them are smiling like normal actors would when meeting a fan. In fact, they are all looking at me like I've gone off the deep end. My smile fades a little. "What?"

"Who are you?" asks Renner. I look at him, and then I notice that his eyes are an unnaturally bright blue. My brows furrow a bit, but then I brush aside the momentary distraction.

"I'm Vikki! It's really great to meet you!" I say, extending my hand towards him with a huge smile. Renner just looks at it, so I pull my hand back and frown at the trio. This is getting awkward fast. "Am I interrupting something? I mean, you guys are all in costume. Did I—"

Tom's face immediately changes at the word 'costume', his eyes narrowing in anger. "Do not insult me, mortal. I am a god, and you will show respect!"

I blink, then give a nervous laugh. "Uh...yeah, I know. I've seen all of your Marvel movies. I'm a huge fan, that's why I was so...excited..." My voice trails off as I look at his eyes. They are the same unnatural blue as Renner's.

My heart starts beating a little faster as an idea nags at the back of my mind. Could it be?

No, that's impossible. I look around, expecting to see cameras, lights, boom mics, and a director, but all I see is a collection of black vehicles and the entrance to another tunnel leading upward. "No...nononono...this is not happening!" I say, looking around frantically. I start backing away from the trio of men, but Renner darts forward and grabs my arm.

"You're not going anywhere," he says in a dangerously quiet voice. I instantly stop. The look in his blue eyes gives me the shivers. He's obviously not himself. I look over at Hiddleston, hoping desperately that this is some kind of joke. I start laughing again, but it comes out sounding strangled. I know my eyes are wide with panic.

"Hey, I get it, this is a great prank. You can stop now," I say, desperation leaking through every syllable. Hiddleston smiles, but it's not the kind smile I'm used to seeing in his interviews. It's a cold, condescending smile.

"I may be the god of mischief, my dear mortal, but this is no prank." He lifts his scepter and points it at me, stepping closer. It's only when I look into his eyes that I fully realize what has happened. This is not Tom Hiddleston. And the man holding me still is not Jeremy Renner. He is Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye, and he is under the influence of the mind stone. And the man in front of me, about to try to steal my soul with his scepter, is none other than Loki of Asgard.

Author's Note: For anyone who was confused, Tom Hiddleston is the actor for Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Jeremy Renner is the actor for Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye. =D
