It was currently, a regular average day on Venice Beach. People were enjoying the sun, swimming, enjoying food, and enjoying their time here. But the first on normal thing to happen was a stray puppy stealing some compressed meat so he could have something to eat and a cop chasing after him on a bike. During the chase, they zoomed past a kid with brown hair, in a green shirt, black laced shoes, and tan pants.

"Zoinks!" the kid yelled as he jumped back, dropping a mostly empty bag of chips before looking in the direction the vop and stray puppy went. "Like, slow down, dude!"

The kid put his earbuds in his ears and pulled out his phone and went through some songs in hopes of finding one he'd like to listen to as he walked. But, he couldn't find anything so he just walked while listening to an episode of a motivational podcast hosted by Ira Glass. Once to the beach, he made two sand piles with seashells representing eyes and noses and one had seaweed for hair.

"Make friends, check." The boy said as he took out his earbuds and sat down on his picnic blanket and pulled out a box of Scooby Snacks, and a sub sandwich with things you wouldn't expect on a sub sandwich. "Hello there, Shelly and Sandy. How was your day?"

What the boy didn't know was the stray puppy was hiding in one of the piles while the eat tube was hidden in the other one.

"Oh, you want me to start? How polite, Sandy." The boy further stated to the sand piles as he picked up half of his sub sandwich. "Well, I told my mom I was meeting my pals at the beach. So if she asks, this technically counts as a play-date." he added. "But it's alright, I like hanging out by myself...and eating lunch by myself...and playing ping pong by myself...I lose a lot of balls."

The stray puppy looked down at that last bit and after a moment of thinking, he slowly came out of the sand pile and peeked around it at the boy.

"Aah!" The boy screamed jumping back a little

"RAah!" The puppy screamed in response, also jumping back a little

Th puppy looked at the half of the sandwich on the plate as the boy slid it closer. The puppy cautiously walked forward, sniffing the sandwich.

"I gotta warn you, it's got tater tots, gummy worms, and ketchup leather." The boy stated

The puppy then tilted his head, almost as if he felt like something was missing from the sandwich.

"I know, no liverwurst, it's not like me to forget the protein." The boy added

The puppy then started sniffing and went back behind the sandpiles, grabbed the tube of meat he had snatched, and walked back onto the picnic blanket with it.

"Whoa." the boy said, amazed at the fact a puppy had such a large chunk of meat

the puppy set the tube of meat down and grabbed a plastic fork and knife and cut off a couple of pieces of the meat as he then put it on the sandwiches. The two, who now seem to have become friends then pick up their respective halves of the sandwich and ate them in one go. There was a bit of a crunch along with everything else on the sandwich.

"Is that...pepper corn?" the boy asked, curious about the crunch

The puppy shook his head, smiled a little, and said, "RNope, sand!"

The two shared a laugh but their little moment of happiness was soon interrupted.

"Hey!" a male voice said from behind them

The two screamed while turning around and the puppy jumped into the boy's arms. It was the cop who was chasing the puppy.

"This mangy stray has done enough damage for today." The cop stated firmly. "He's coming with me."

"He's not a stray!" the boy protested as he stood up, holding the puppy

"Is he YOUR dog?" The cop asked

"He's, like, totally mine." The by stated before whispering to the puppy saying, "If you wanna be."

"RI'd like that very much." The puppy responded in a whisper

"Okay, then, what's his name?" The cop asked, having high doubts this little boy actually owned this puppy

"RI don't have one." the puppy whispered to the boy

The boy looked around for something to use as a name for the puppy, wanting to save him. That's when his eyes bolted to his box of Scooby Snacks.

"Snacks." The boy said

"What?" The cop responded, obviously confused

"RSnacks?" the puppy asked, equally as confused

"I mean...Scooby." the boy corrected himself

"Middle nae?" the cop further asked

"Dooby..." the boy answered

"Last name?" the cop asked

There was a short pause from the young boy before he landed on saying, "Doo."

The cop went silent for a few seconds, and there was some silence between the three. Bbut then, the cop started heading back to his bike.

"If the dog has a middle name, there's no punishment for damages or theft. I don't like it, but, thems the laws." the cop said as he got on his bike. "Have a good day, sir, Mr. Dooby-Doo" he added before riding off

The boy set the puppy, now named Scooby, back on the blanket and began to introduce himself.

"I'm Norville. But everyone calls me Shaggy." Shaggy introduced

"Raggy." Scooby said, doing his best to pronounce his new friend's name

"No, it's Shaggy." Shaggy stated

"RThat's what I said. Raggy." Scooby responded

"We'll work on it." Shaggy stated before gently patting Scooby's head

Later that night, Shaggy had taken his newly adopted friend home.

"Shaggy, you better hurry up and choose your costumes if you and your new friend wanna go trick-or-treating tomorrow." Shaggy's mom called to him from somewhere in the house

"Yay, okay, mom!" Shaggy responded, rather cheerfully

Shaggy eventually reached the room him and Scooby will have after giving a tour of the house.

"This is my room." Shaggy stated. "Well, our room now."

Scooby looked around, and was amazed at how surprisingly well kept it was in spite of some of the comic books in the floor.

"RWho's that?" Scooby asked, curiously looking at a little display Shaggy had built themed around a superhero known as Blue Falcon and his sidekick Dynomutt

"This is Blue Falcon" Shaggy said, grabbing an action figure off of the counter and making the little wings pop out. "He's half man, half Falcon. Well, mostly man. All man. I guess it's just the suit that's Falcon." Shaggy added as he grabbed an action figure of Dynomutt off of the same counter. "And his wonder dog sidekick, Dynomutt! They fight crimes and save the world together."

"RCool." Scooby responded, wagging his tail ad as Shaggy gently set the action figures back down

The two then got on the bed and Scooby jumped around as they shared a laugh.

"This is a bed. You sleep in it." Shaggy explained

"RIt's soft. RI never had a bed before." Scooby said. "RIn fact, Ri've never had anything before."

Shaggy seemed nervous about something before he finally spoke.

"Well, this afternoon, while my parents were legally getting you adopted, I ran out and got something for you. I know we've technically just met, and I don't wanna come off too strong, but..." Shaggy said as he pulled a blue collar out of his pocket showing it to Scooby, revealing it also had a diamond shaped dog tag with the letters 'SD' on it

Scooby was silent for a bit before saying, "RI love it."

Shaggy smiled and put the collar on Scooby's neck and straightened it a bit.

"RI promise i'll never take it off." Scooby said

The two then hugged each other and Scooby wagged his tail and licked Shaggy's face to show affection like dogs would do to show affection to their owners.

"Aww." Shaggy said in response
