STARING AT THE SUN

CHAPTER 9

BELLA P.O.V

Jacob had started working as a mechanic so I had decided to get a job at a small little bookstore in La Push. I felt safer working in La Push where the pack could be around at any time. Our schedules were almost the same. I worked Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays and every other weekend. While Jake worked Wednesday's through Saturdays. So we usually did dinner with our dads on Sunday, and sometimes the Clearwater's came too. Then on Monday's we did date night and usually ended up at one of our houses to watch movies.

With college approaching fast, I had started doing my shopping for things I would need. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy on me, Jacob, or Charlie. I had dragged Jacob to look for college things today and I could tell he just didn't want to be there.

"We can go if you want." I said to him as I was standing in an aisle with towels. I wasn't anywhere close to getting what I needed and it was starting to stress me out. I moved in at the end of August. It was coming up fast.

"I'm fine." He grumbled but the look in his face said different.

"We don't have to do this today. I can go tomorrow." I shrugged folding a towel and leaving the cart I was using.

"Bella, just get what you need."

"I can tell you don't want to do this so let's just go." I answered walking towards the front of the store. I could hear him stomping behind me.

"If I knew you were going to do this, I would have just stayed home." He said as he walked passed me and got into the car. I rolled my eyes before getting in and starting the car.

"I'll drop you off." I answered heading towards his house. I knew this process wasn't going to be easy but I thought he would be more supportive than this.

"I don't want you to leave me." He finally said.

"I'm not leaving you." I fought back. I knew this conversation was going to be coming soon. "I'm just going to college. I'm coming back."

"And you're gonna meet some guy who's your age and has money and a normal family and doesn't turn into a wolf and you'll leave me for him!" He shouted. Jacob never showed me any type of insecurities in our relationship let alone him being afraid of me leaving him.

"I will not!" I shouted back. Tears automatically sprang in my eyes as I drove.

"You don't even care that you're just leaving me behind."

"You knew I was going to go to college." I said calmly trying to keep my voice even.

"So you admit you don't care."

"I never said that." I sobbed wiping away the tears that spilled over and ran down my cheeks. I don't know why but I automatically panicked that he was going to break up with me. I tried to even my breathing and stop myself from crying but I couldn't. He was totally oblivious to me. He was shaking in the seat beside me and I knew that if I didn't get to his house soon, there could be a wolf in my truck.

I pulled up to his house and he got out right away but instead of phasing, he walked back and forth grabbing at his hair. I got out slowly and walked around the truck to where he was pacing.

"Just go home, Bella." He shouted. "You're making this ten times worse than it needs to be." I reached out to him but he stepped away. "Go away!" I saw the shades in the house move to the side knowing that Billy was watching us. As he often did.

"I want to fix this." I cried wiping my eyes.

"Well, I don't. So go home." I stood where I was, refusing to move. "I don't want you here."

"I don't care. We're going to talk about this." I answered trying to stop myself from shaking.

"Okay, let's talk about it." He shouted standing ten feet away from me. "You're going off to college. You'll come home every so often but expect me to drive to you! You'll be home for Holiday's but will want to spend them with Charlie! Eventually you'll meet someone, and go to a party, get drunk, and fuck him! Leaving me heart broken." He was holding up his finger's as he said the things he thought I was going to do.

"I would never do that to you! And you thinking that low of me hurts." I know a lot of times this happens when one person in the relationship goes off to school but I wasn't one of those people. I knew he wasn't either. I don't know why but being accused of cheating before I even left for school somehow hurts worse. Fighting with Jacob was never easy. He had a temper that he couldn't control and although I knew he would never hurt me, sometimes he said things that hurt.

"You know what, go ahead. Go fuck random drunk dudes at parties. I don't even care." With that he ran off into the woods. I watched him disappear into the woods and the rain before getting back into my truck. I pulled myself together, wiping my tears and trying to even my breathing before driving.

Charlie had the day off so his car was parked in the driveway and I'm sure he was watching some type of sports game on the t.v in the living. He was standing by the stairs when I came in the front door. I'm sure I was looking like a whole mess.

"Billy called." He started. "Said you and Jake got into a fight." I nodded looking at him. "Wanna talk about it?"

"It doesn't matter." I answered.

"You weren't gone for very long. Did you get anything for college?" He questioned.

"No. We got into a fight before I could buy anything. I'll go by myself tomorrow." I answered. "I'm gonna go change." I rushed up the stairs and into my bedroom closing the door. I then locked the windows so there was no way Jacob could get in. Not that I thought he would come over here tonight but just in case. I changed into warm pj's before grabbing a book and sitting at my desk. Even though the book showed me no interest.

I still couldn't believe that he thought I would cheat on him. I don't even look at other guys the way I look at Jacob. I didn't even mean to fall in love with him. Maybe he was turning into one of those "right person, wrong time" type of things.

For the next few days I decided to spend time by myself. I did a ton of shopping for college things and got most of what I needed. I could get food the day before moving in. I was expecting to hear from Jacob and didn't so I called his cell phone that went right to voicemail before calling the house. Billy answered and said he hadn't heard from him in a few days. Which worried me even more. He could be anywhere.

The last time we got into a fight, before we were even dating, he didn't talk to me for weeks. I really hope that doesn't happen again but knowing him, I would be on my own for a while. Last time I annoyed the crap out of Billy by calling nearly every day trying to get Jake to talk to me. If he didn't want to talk to me or see me, I wouldn't force it.

Charlie seemed more worried than normal that Jacob wasn't calling or coming over. So, he invited Billy over for dinner and to watch a baseball game. I think he was just secretly hoping that he would bring Jacob. I wanted to just stay in my room. The only thing left for me to do was pack my clothes but I had over a month to do that so I wasn't in a rush.

I heard the front door open and Charlie greet Billy before I heard the wet wheels of his wheelchair across the floor and into the kitchen.

"Is Bella here?" I heard Jakes voice. It made my heart speed up and I opened the door just a crack.

"She's up in her room." I heard Charlie respond before Jake was knocking on my door.

"Come in." I said looking right at him as he pushed the door open. "Thank's for gracing me with your presence." I answered sitting at the desk chair while he sat in front of me on the bed.

"I'm sorry." He said. "I was acting like an asshole."

"Yes. You were." I answered.

"And I should have never accused you of doing anything like that." He shook his head looking around the room. "Because I know you'll never do that. I was just angry upset and people say things when they're mad."

"But you have a way of hurting my feelings when you're mad." I answered. "That's not okay."

"I didn't mean to." He sighed. I knew that he was sincere with his apology but I was still hurt by what he said.

"Just because you didn't mean, doesn't mean it didn't hurt me. You need to work on your anger because it's only going to get worse and I'll be damned if anyone treats me like that." I stood up. "You don't get to talk to me like that and think that I'll forgive you easily."

"I'll do anything to get you to forgive me." He grabbed my hand and kissed my palm. "Anything." I shook my head. It wasn't about him doing something to make me forgive him. It was about him learning that he made a mistake and he needs to change himself.

"It's not about you doing anything for me. You just need to work on yourself and not take your anger out on me." He nodded holding both of my hands.

"I promise. I'll work on it." He answered. I moved my hands to rest on his shoulder's and at on his lap. He pouted his lips before I kissed him.

"This does not mean you're fully forgiven." I answered pushing him back onto the bed and getting off his lap. He huffed before sitting up.

"Jacob? Bella? Hot dog or cheeseburger?"

"One of each!" We both shouted. He smiled at me before grabbing my arm and pulling me into him falling back onto the bed.

"I bet we could do it and they would have no idea." I rolled my eyes trying to push myself up off his chest. He held me against him. "C'mon."

"Charlie will know." I whispered rolling to the side. He rolled and conveniently blocked my whole body from the door before grabbing my face and kissing me. I wrapped my arms around him as he rolled on top of me and moved to kiss my jaw line. "Jake." I whispered pulling on his hair. My eyes slowly closed as he gently kissed my mouth.

"Yeah, baby?" He whispered grinding his lower half into mine.

"He'll know." I whispered as his hand traveled under my shirt and rubbed my side. I looked over at the door that was halfway open but I could hear cheers on the t.v. I knew that either they were both out grilling or they were both watching the game. As much as I didn't want to say no to Jake, I knew that we couldn't do much with Charlie in the house.

"He won't." He whispered quickly getting up and carefully closing the door so it didn't make any noise before coming back to me and quickly tearing my pants off. I was only wearing plain white panties but he didn't seem to mind. He didn't take long to admire them before sliding them down my legs with one finger. He licked his lips before spreading my legs and laying between them. "Don't block my ears." He commented holding my legs open as he kissed right on my clit.

"What?"

"So I can hear if someone comes up the stairs." He confirmed before sucking hard on my clit and slowly circling his finger around my opening. I ran my fingers through his hair pressing his face into me and lifting my hips. I tried to stay quiet knowing that if they heard even a little peep from us, Charlie would come up here.

"Jake." I softly moaned as he fingered me with two fingers. His tongue worked my clit slow, then fast, then slow again while his finger's curled and moved at a fast pace. I lifted my hips as I came on his fingers. He sucked my clit through my orgasm before pulling off my sucking his fingers. He leaned over to kiss me quickly before throwing my pants at me.

"Charlie's coming." I quickly jumped up and pulled them up my legs and buttoning them before sitting at the desk with my back to the door as it swung open.

"This door is to remain open while Jake's in here with you."

"Sorry, Dad. We were just having a private conversation." I looked over my shoulder at him. Jake of course made himself look busy by flipping through one of my books and laying casually on the bed.

"Dinner's ready." He commented looking between us. I stood before Jacob put the book down. We followed behind Charlie before sitting at the kitchen table where Billy already was sitting and waiting for us.

We ate in silence for the most part besides Billy or Charlie asking us how our relationship was. Everyone seemed to avoid the college topic which was fine with me. After dinner I forced Jake to take me to get an ice cream. He every so often licked the ice cream on my cone making me whine.

"You got over our right really quick." He commented as he held me in his arms.

"No I didn't. I was upset for days." I answered. "But I understand why you're upset. This isn't going to be easy but you have to know that I love you and I will never ever do anything to hurt you." I commented turning my head to look at him.

"I know. I'm sorry I even said that you would cheat on me. I know you won't." He answered kissing my head. "I'll work on my anger." He breathed into my neck. We headed back to the house and I was so exhausted I just wanted to get into bed and go to sleep. Billy and Charlie were still watching some sporting event and were yelling at the T.V.

"Can Jacob sleepover?" I asked over their shouts.

"Sure, Bells. Whatever you want." Charlie answered not even looking at us. "Door open." I nodded before heading up to my room. He followed right behind me slapping my butt as we went. Once in my room I quickly changed into pjs while he just stripped to his boxers and got into bed. He laid closer to the door and laid on his side so he would wrap his arm around me. We talked for a little while before I was asleep and only woke to a thunderstorm around 2 in the morning. Jake was snoring beside me but pulled me into him with both arms to protect me.

Every so often his face would light up from the flashes. His eyelashes sat delicately on his face and his lips were slightly open. I gently kissed them before laying back down and falling into a peaceful sleep.

"Alice, this is not a good idea." Carlisle said to the girl who was frantically packing clothes into a suitcase.

"Something is wrong." She rushed. Carlisle continued to watch her pack. "I can't see Bella's future anymore." She stopped and looked at him, eyes wide and fear written all over her face. "I saw her going to college and that was it. I need to make sure she's okay."

"Why don't you just call Charlie?" Esme tried to reason with her, but deep down Esme was just as concerned for Bella's well being. Emmett tried to convince Alice to let him go check up on her but Alice knew that he would bust into her house. Alice wanted to get in and get out.

"I need to see her." Alice answered. "Don't tell Edward." She answered checking the future to see if she could see if Edward would find out. Alice quickly grabbed the bag and headed down to the garage of cars with Esme and Carlisle following behind her.

"Please call us to keep us updated." Esme hugged Alice before they both watched her speed out of the garage and down the driveway. They couldn't see the car anymore but they could still hear it as she pulled onto the main road and headed towards the high way.

Alice made the 51 hour trip from Maine to Forks, Washington. Only stopping when she needed to fill up on gas. Of course with her speed she cut that time nearly in half but still driving across the country alone, trying to watch for Bella's future was not easy. As she got closer to the Swan's house, she slowed down the car. She could hear the t.v playing some movie and she heard two different people's snores. It was nearly four in the morning so she knew that Charlie was asleep.

She parked the car across the street but hidden from the house before she ran around the back of the house and to the side of the house that Bella's room was on. She climbed a tree that gave her a perfect view into her dark bedroom.

She could perfectly see two bodies laid on her bed, legs and arms wrapped around each other. One was obviously Bella's, small and petite carefully laid with her hair on a pillow. She couldn't make out the other face since it was smashed into a pillow.

She waited until morning, when the boy stood to his full height. She gasped as he stretched, showing off his abs and long legs. Jacob Black.

He went over to the window and pulled down the shade a little to get a better look outside. She stayed perfectly still before she heard movement in Bella's room.

"What's wrong?" Bella asked Jacob.

"Nothing, babe." He answered turning to look at her. Alice was happy for Bella. That she had moved on and seemed happy. She was shocked but also not that it was Jacob Black. She however was shocked that he was either sneaking in or Charlie was letting him stay in her room with her.

Alice had seen enough of Bella to know that she was alive and happy. It still didn't explain why she couldn't see her future but she still decided to head home to Esme, Carlisle, and Jasper. She called Esme as soon as she pulled onto the highway.

"She's alive." Alice said as soon as the phone was answered. "She's happy." That was all any of the Cullen's wanted. They wanted her to live a happy normal life. One where she was safe. "She's dating Jacob Black." Suddenly Carlisle took the phone from Esme.

"That explains why you can't see her future anymore." Carlisle said into the phone. "Jacob Black is a werewolf." Carlisle added. Alice almost turned the car around to go and get Bella to protect her. "They protect the tribe from vampires." He answered before she could. "Bella's safe." Alice nodded even though he couldn't see her.

"She's happy it seems." All Alice wanted to do was call and Edward and tell him that Bella was happy, but it wasn't like he would answer her call. But she could move on with her life without Bella, knowing that she was safe, protected, and happy. Bella's happiness was all that mattered. Alice hoped she lived a long, happy life.
