STARING AT THE SUN
CHAPTER 21
BELLA P.O.V
I decided I needed a vacation. Jacob also agreed and Charlie decided that he wanted in on it too. So we decided to make it a family affair. Billy was also coming, along with Rachel and Paul. Of course Charlie couldn't do anything without Sue, so Seth was coming. Sam was not happy about losing 3 vital member's of the pack but he wasn't going to say no to me.
We had all decided that we would go to Hawaii to see Leah. I was more than excited to see her and get to sit on the beach and enjoy the warm weather. We had bought tickets and got a few rooms booked in some fancy hotel. Of course, I used the money that the Cullen's had been sending me. I couldn't figure out how to stop the payments from coming. I shared it as much as I could but Jacob convinced me to use some of it on myself. So a vacation it was. I hadn't been on one since I went to see my mom with Jake but I hadn't been on one with Charlie since I was little. It was long overdue.
Rachel had decided to take me shopping after she realized that I only had one bathing suit and it was a one piece which was all black. She insisted that I needed a bikini. She said that Jacob should be drooling over me in a bathing suit. As if this wasn't a family vacation.
So here I was, in the dressing room wearing a lilac bikini and freezing cold. She was in the one beside me trying on a blue one. I liked it, it looked good, but I wasn't sure about it. It wasn't me. We both knew that. As much as Jacob would like it, I wasn't so sure our fathers would.
"I'm not too sure about this, Rach." My voice shook when I spoke. I wrapped my arms around myself trying to get some type of body heat. If only Jacob wasn't at work.
"Come out. Let me see." I loved the lace on the top but I felt so exposed. I felt like my butt wasn't fully covered. I felt like my boob was going to fall out of the top. I slowly opened the door and stood in front of her. "It looks amazing!"
"My butt is hanging out."
"Most bikinis are like that." She answered. "We can find a bottom that you'll like more." I rushed back into the changing room and grabbed the next one. I already hated it. There were too many strings. I knew I shouldn't have let her pick anything out for me. I know that it was going to end badly.
"I can't do this." I said mostly to myself. I wasn't sure if Rachel could hear it or not but I swear I was going to pass out in here. Jacob had seen me in much less than these bathing suits but my father hadn't. It's not like he could stop me from doing what I wanted but I was still terrified of it. I didn't even bother trying on the ones with string, I would not be buying it let alone wearing it. I would get the purple top but I wanted bottoms that actually covered my butt. So I grabbed the purple top and headed out to find new bottoms.
I found high rise bottoms in the same color and quickly went off to buy them before Rachel saw and before I could talk myself out of it. I would be buying a cover up either way but not here. Just the bathing suit top was $30.
"What did you buy?" She asked as she met me at the checkout.
"The purple one." I answered. She didn't need to know that I changed out the bottoms. Either way I was going to wear what I wanted. We had already bought a few pair of shorts and a few tank tops. I also grabbed Jacob a few pair of shorts and a bathing suit knowing that he wouldn't buy any for himself. I was exhausted. I could only shop so much. Rachel could shop until she dropped.
Thankfully Paul called. I never thought I would be so thankful for Paul. I was silently thanking him as we headed back to her car with all of our bags. She dropped me off at home and then headed home. Jacob was already here, having a beer and watching some baseball game with Charlie.
"Hello." I called as I headed up the stairs.
"Hey, babe." Jacob called.
"How was shopping?" Charlie asked. I quickly threw the bags onto my bed and headed back down the stairs. The were both sitting on the couch, on opposite ends, the dog sitting between them, both of them had beers in their hand. Charlie was resting his on the arm of the couch and Jacob's was resting on his leg.
"Fine." I glanced at Jacob's face, then the beer.
"Its one beer, babe." He rolled his eyes at me. I shook my head but leaned down and kissed him anyway.
"You taste disgusting." I said as I pulled back and sat on the floor in front of him. Daisy moved her head closer to me for a few pats before Lou came over and rested on my feet. "What would you men like for dinner?" I asked. I wasn't really in the mood to cook and with the game on it would probably just be easier to order something.
"We ordered pizza and wings." Charlie commented. "Sue, Seth and Billy are on their way over." I nodded and leaned against Jake. He reached down and rubbed the back of my neck. The tension left my body immediately and I sighed, content. His warm fingers could instantly break up any knot. One of the perks of being 108 degrees.
Not even 5 minutes later, Sue was pulling up. She came into the house first with Seth and Billy behind her. I stood to greet them and get Daisy off the couch so everyone could sit. Right after everyone got settled, the pizza showed up. 3 Large pizza and two order's of wings. Jacob and Seth of course could eat one whole pizza each.
I got a plate for Billy before getting one for myself.
"What not one for me?"
"Jacob." I huffed making him chuckle. Sue stood beside me and gave me a gentle little pat.
"You're around guys too much." I nodded. "Before we go on the trip I would love to take you to get your nails done." She smiled. "Maybe lunch?"
"I would love that." I smiled as I sat down at the table. I figured I could let the guys sit in the living room. Jacob came in to grab a few more beers before heading back. "I hate that they drink." I whispered. I knew he could hear me and he was probably rolling his eyes but it didn't change how I felt about it.
"Honey, their body temperature burns it off so quickly they barely even get drunk." She commented. Not that she would let Seth drink but she's been around all of them for long enough to know that they don't drink that often and when they do it doesn't get them that drunk. They would have to chug a whole bottle of vodka in order to even feel slightly drunk.
"It's just annoying."
"He would probably stop if you asked him." Jacob often said that I was treating him like a mother. I didn't mean to. I just wanted the best for him. I did their laundry because I thought that it would be taking something off their plate. It didn't matter how many times they told me I didn't need to, I did it anyway. I didn't want to stop him from doing the things that made him happy.
"Sometimes I feel like he only keeps me around because he knows it'll kill me if he leaves me." I sighed. Some part of me knew that wasn't true. I knew that he loved me. He proved it when I was acting crazy. Sue didn't respond but her gaze did meet something above my head.
"Bells," Jacob started to say. "If I ever lost you, I would start a riot." I could believe that. I smiled and looked over my shoulder at him. He was standing there with everyones plates. "I'm with you because I love you. That will never change. I know that the things you've gone through have not been easy. Hell dating two supernatural beings is not easy." I smiled shaking my head. That was an understatement of the century. "But loving you is the easiest thing I will ever do." Tears automatically sprang in my eyes as I stood to hug him. He leaned down and crushed me to his chest.
"I love you."
"I never want you to question if I love you or not. I do. I always will. I'm going to marry you some day. The only time you will be without me, is when I die before you. There's no way I would ever be able to live without you."
"We're gonna have to die on the same day." I chuckled. He held me against him as close as he possibly could. I never wanted to be in another mans arms.
Seth was way too happy at all times. Even at 4 in the morning, while we all stood out in the cool summer morning, waiting to pile into the car from the airport that was picking us up. He was beyond excited for some warm weather. So I was, but it was 4 in the morning. I could tell that Jacob was annoyed as he grumbled beside me, rubbing the sleep from his eyes, and pulled me into his side.
"I'm exhausted." He whined.
"We'll get coffees at the airport." I commented. Paul was helping Billy into the car even though Jacob had offered to do it. Dad was helping the driver get all of our bags into the car. Sue and Rachel were monitoring Paul.
"We have our own room right?" He asked.
"Yes. Our dads. Seth and Sue. Paul and Rachel. We're all a few rooms away from each other." I confirmed. No way was I going to be able to listen to Rachel and Paul. Once Paul had Billy in the car and was comfortable, the rest of us got in. The ride wasn't too long, I think I fell asleep. The real test was going to be the plane ride. Our flight was 5 and a half hours long but I would be sitting with Seth. Jacob was going to sit with his dad, my dad was sitting with Sue and Paul and Rachel were sitting together.
"Think Rebecca will be up for visitors?" Rachel asked Billy as we were getting on the plane. Jacob never really talked about her. I wasn't sure if he was bitter that she moved away and left him to take care of their father on his own. But he never even mentioned her to me.
"When I told her we were coming she didn't really make a comment on it." That made me sad. I wonder if this is how my dad felt when he went months at a time without seeing me. Never seeing me for Holidays or birthday's. Jacob was silent beside me as he dragged his suitcase behind him.
As soon as we got through security, we went and got coffees. Seth went with me and we got one for whoever wanted one. Seth clearly didn't need one but I swear Jake and Paul were going to pass out any second if they didn't get anything. They were used to not getting much sleep due to patrolling but they were both beyond exhausted.
"Are you excited to see Leah?" I asked Seth.
"Beyond." He smiled. "Just glad she's happy." I smiled.
"Me too." I looked up at him as he carried the coffees back to the gate. "Are you ever gonna try to get out of La Push?" I asked. It must have taken him off guard because his smile fell.
"Why?" He asked.
"I don't know. She just seems happy away from the pack." I shrugged.
"I'm in it for life." He answered. "The only reason Sam let Leah leave is because he couldn't stand that he was the one putting her in pain." At least Leah got out. "Getting out isn't easy. And don't even think about Jacob getting out, he's got Alpha blood, he's in it for life. For real."
"If we were to have kids..." I started. "What's the chance of them getting the gene?" I asked.
"Everyone gets the gene. It just depends on if vampires are around." He answered. "It usually skips a generation. But maybe it only did because the Cullen's would leave and come back. There's no way to know." He answered. He sat down next to Jake giving me a look to keep my mouth shut. I knew how Jake felt about being in the pack. He hated following someone else's rules. He hated that his thoughts weren't his own. I had asked him before why he would ever want to pass that gene on to his kids.
"It's not about putting my kids through this, Bells." He mumbled as I sat down. He was leaning back, legs spread but he looked over at me. "It's about making you happy." We didn't discuss kids or marriage often. A few conversations here or there. A quick "I want this for our wedding" or "I saw the cutest baby at the diner".
"And what about you being happy?" He smiled at me.
"Got the girl of my dreams." Was all he said. He was really putting all of his eggs in one basket. "Love of my life honestly." He smiled.
"Love you." I smiled leaning into him.
A little while later our section to board was called. We were getting on first and immediately got Billy situated. Jacob made sure that all of our bags were in the bins overhead before helping Billy get comfortable. Seth let me sit by the window but then I realized it was so he could at least stretch out one of his legs. Jacob was sitting in front of us. Dad and Sue were next to us, and Rachel and Paul were in front of them.
Seth immediately put on a movie for us both. He was obsessed with Shrek. I smiled as he laughed throughout most of the movie. He was being a normal 16 year old kid. Just once, I wanted every single one of those boys to be teenagers instead of warriors.
Somehow, Seth roped me into watching two more movies. And when the plane finally started to land I swear I could already smell it. I don't know what Hawaii smelled like, but I loved it. Billy was let off the plane first and we all followed behind.
We went over to baggage claim before heading outside. Two cars were waiting to take us to the hotel. I went in one car with Dad, Sue and Seth while the other's followed behind us.
"Does Billy not talk to Rebecca that often?" I asked.
"You're very nosy recently." Seth said.
"Seth!" Sue said shaking her head. "From my understanding, no. She doesn't call that often." I nodded. It had to have been hard losing their mom at a young age. Both Rachel and Rebecca moved away as soon as they could, leaving Jacob to care for Billy.
When we got to the hotel, I went over to check in. Charlie and Billy were both with me while everyone else was handed drinks. The resort was all inclusive. I was handed keys for each room and then gave them out to each couple that was staying together and we each headed off to find our rooms. We were all on the same floor and decided to all meet back down in the lobby in an hour.
As soon as we got to our room Jacob checked it to make sure no one else was in here. Then I started the shower.
"Are we showering?" Jacob asked standing behind me in the mirror as I took my shirt off.
"I am. You can do as you wish." He smiled and leaned down to kiss my shoulder.
"I love Seth like a brother, but I wanted to knock him out." He said as we both got undressed.
"He didn't even do anything." I said as I stepped into the shower. The water calmed my muscles almost immediately. I sighed as he stepped in behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
"He got to sit next to you." I rolled my eyes. Lately he had been super clingy. Could barely let me go to the food store without calling me and asking how long I was going to be.
"He made me watch three movies." I commented wrapping my arms around his neck. He leaned in and pressed his lips gently to mine. "The only good one was Shrek."
"Sorry not everyone can stand Romeo and Juliet."
"I made you watch it once." I defended myself.
"And it sucked." He commented making me laugh. I leaned back into his arm. I wasn't really in here to get clean, I was kinda just relaxing. Of course when he noticed that, his hands started getting feely.
"We don't have much time." I whispered, letting my head rest against his chest.
"We have enough time to cum at least once each." I laughed as his hand moved to spread my legs. I closed my eyes the second his thumb started rubbing my clit.
"God, Jake." I moaned softly. He slipped two fingers inside me while his palm rubbed against my clit. It always shocked me how quickly he could get me to orgasm. I clenched around his fingers as he moved his fingers faster. The steam from the shower and the heat from his body made me dizzy. He rubbed my clit harder, sending me over the edge. I grabbed the railing to hold myself up. I gave myself two seconds before dropping to my knees in front of him. He was already hard by the time I took him into my mouth and wrapped my hand around the rest of him.
He groaned and thrust his hips just a little. I looked up at him. He had his head thrown back and one hand in my hair to help guide me. It never took long for either of us to reach an orgasm after we went this long without one. I stood up to kiss him while still jerking him off. His breaths were coming in little pants, I knew he was close. I watched as he came all over my hand and it was quickly washed away by the water. He was breathing hard but pulled me in for a kiss. I giggled a little as he slumped against the wall.
I shook my head before shutting off the water and stepping out. I quickly dried off knowing that we most likely did not have long before we were meeting everyone downstairs. The plan was to get some food and then we were going to do a little exploring.
Once I dried off I changed into the purple bathing suit, a pair of shirts and a plain t-shirt that I stole from Jacob. He also put on a bathing suit and a tank top. I admired his muscles as he walked in front of me down to the lobby. Everyone else was also just getting to the elevator when we walked up.
"I think theres a place right next door where we can eat." Sue said. When we stepped off the elevator, her and Charlie went over to ask the front desk where we could eat. I headed out the front door to breathe in the fresh air. Jacob and Paul were right beside me with Rachel not far behind us. That's when I saw Leah, nearly knocking people over on the street as she ran towards us. As soon as she was in front of us she wrapped her arms around me.
"Hi!" She shouted. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tight.
"Hi." I smiled. Next she hugged Rachel before the others came outside. She gave them each a hug before going into a huge speech about the best place to eat. So, we followed her across to the street and down the block to her favorite place to eat. It was so good to see her.
We enjoyed eating all together but Paul and Rachel wanted to head off to do their own thing. The rest of us decided to head to the beach. Billy and Charlie stayed off the sand but I wanted to get my feet in the sand. Jacob walked with me down to the water. He held my hand gently in his as we walked against the shore. I was so excited to explore this island.
He wasn't saying much and I was starting to worry.
"You okay over there?" I asked. "What are you thinking about?" I added. He shrugged and looked down. "Jake?" He lifted his head to meet my eyes.
"Thinking about a lot." He shrugged again. That made me nervous. What could possibly be making him so nervous that he wouldn't talk to me about it?
"Like what?" I asked kicking at the water and watching the droplets as they hit against the small waves.
"Like if you would say yes." I was confused.
"Yes to what?" I asked. He chuckled a little, clearly finding my confusion funny.
"To marrying me." My eyes widened at his words before he sunk down on one knee. I looked around, he had to be joking. Or this had to be some kind of dream. There was no way my boyfriend was down on one knee pulling a box out of his pocket. "I love you, so incredibly much. I never want to go another day without seeing you. I want to live out the rest of my life making you happy in every way I possibly can." I couldn't look away from him as tears filled my eyes and threatened to spill over. I didn't know that we would get here this fast in our relationship but it felt so right. "I asked your dad." Oh God, I'm sure that went well. "He wasn't happy with the idea since we're so young but since when did that ever stop us from doing crazy shit?" I laughed a little as tears fell from my eyes. He flicked open the box and inside sat a perfect diamond ring set on a simple silver band. "Bella Marie Swan, will you marry me?" I was a spluttering mess.
"Yes." I somehow said and sunk to my knees to wrap my arms around him. I kissed him hard and fast as tears streamed down my face. "Oh my god." I wiped at my eyes as he slipped the ring onto my finger. I had no idea that when we got on that plane he had a shiny diamond ring with my name on it.
"I love you." He smiled at me as I was half sitting in his lap and half on the sand admiring the ring. It was so beautiful.
"I love you." I smiled wrapping my arms around him and kissing him again.
"The diamond was my mothers but I made the band and set the stone myself." I smiled. I had never been so in love with him in my entire life. I heard cheering from further up the beach and turned to see our family and friends standing there. We both quickly stood and rushed over to them.
"Congratulations, Bells." Charlie said, his eyes were glossy as he hugged me.
"Thanks, dad." I smiled. I had never felt so happy in my life. Of course we were in no rush to get married but I think we were ready for this next step in our relationship. We were ready to move in together. I was so ready to see where this lead us. I was so ready for the future.
