Starling's point of view
" Rise and shine Starling" a rough voice awoke Starling from his sleep rubbing his eyes open Starling was greeted by large gray tom.
" Oh ugg hello there umm what was your name again?"
" Dewspring" the gray tom replied
" Right Dewspring sorry I'm not used to all these names"
" It's fine Leafstar asked me to feed you so here take this thrush" Dewspring pushed the thrush in front of Starling before padding out of the medicine den.
" Wow Dewspring that's got to be the nicest kin cat that I've ever seen" a ginger she-cat meowed from outside.
" Oh i know Sunnypelt if i didn't now any better i wouldn't ever guess he was a kin cat"
Starling had been kept prisoner at Skyclan camps for a quarter of a moon now so far he had been stuck sitting in the medicine den with Frecklewish and Fidgetflake so far things were going well at least he considered still being alive after a quarter of the moon to be going well.
So far the Skyclan cats had been nice enough to him he didn't expect them to be chummy with him and he saw them giving him the side glares and he heard them talking about him behind his back but the fact that they hadn't clawed his fur off was surprising to him he knew if the kin had kept clan prisoners they definitely wouldn't treat them this nice.
" Let all cats old enough to catch there own pray gather around Tallstump for a clan meeting" Leafstar announced Starling watched the cats swarm around Tallstump.
Starling's amber gaze turned to the camp exit.
" Should i?" Starling considered making a break for the exit the spotted ginger tom weighted his options everyone in camp was distracted and the exit was unguarded but he knew that someone would see him and he would never get back to Twoleg place with all of Skyclan chasing after him.
" No it's not worth it" still Starling's curiosity couldn't help but wonder what was happening at Tallstump.
Peaking his head out of the medicine den Starling saw Leafstar standing on top of Tallstump the brown and cream tabby leader sat looking down at her clan.
" Cats of Skyclan today we are to honor two apprentices who have proven ready to be made full warriors of Skyclan"
" Rootpaw Needlepaw please step forward" Starling watched a yellow tom and a black and white she cat step forward in front of Leafstar.
" Wait that's the same cat that attacked me in the battle" Starling looked at the black and white she cat the same one that had defeated him in the battle.
The black and white she cat sat looking well put together black and white fur sleeked back amber eyes focused on her leader.
On the other paw the yellow tom looked incredibly out of place his fur spiked up and ruffled and his purple eyes shifting uncomfortably from side to side.
" I, Leafstar, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn. Needlepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?
" I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your warrior name. Needlepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Needleclaw. StarClan honors your skill and your patience, and we welcome you as a full warrior of SkyClan."
" Needleclaw! Needleclaw!" the Skyclan cats cheered out.
" Rootpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
" Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Rootpaw, from this moment on, you shall be known as Rootspring. StarClan honors your strength and resilience, and we welcome you as a full warrior of SkyClan."
" Rootspring! Rootspring!"
"We welcome Rootspring and Needleclaw as full warriors of Skyclan"
" Rootspring! Needleclaw! Rootspring! Needleclaw! " the cats of Skyclan chanted in unison.
" Clan meeting dismissed"
Wrenpaw's point of view
" Clan meeting dismissed" Leafstar dismissed the clan meeting with a flick of her tail.
As the clan began to disperse and go back to there regular activities Wrenpaw looked over at Rootspring and Needleclaw the two newest warrior's of Skyclan were currently visiting with there parents both off there parents looked incredibly proud of them Needleclaw sat looking stoic and well put together well Rootspring looked extremely nervous.
" You know sometimes i wonder how those to are siblings there like complete opposites of each other " Rabbitleap meowed from beside Wrenpaw.
" I mean your kind of right" Wrenpaw resounded.
Stopping to think about it Wrenpaw did realize that Rootspring and Needleclaw were very much opposites of each other Needleclaw was very well put together a lot unlike Rootspring how was generally a mess all the time.
Wrenpaw decided to go congratulate them on getting there warrior name.
" Rootspring Needleclaw" Wrenpaw padded over to the two new warriors.
" Hi Wrenpaw" Rootspring meowed.
" Congratulations on getting your warrior name's"
" Thanks' Wrenpaw it feels good to be a full member of Skyclan" Needleclaw resounded.
" Do you like the names?"
" Yeah i see what Leafstar did gave us the same names as are mentors" Needleclaw meowed.
" Not really i mean what dose Rootspring mean?" Rootpaw meowed somewhat dully.
" Well to be fair iv never seen a brooke with hair before or a Bellaleaf so i think you defiantly don't have the worst name in Skyclan"
" i mean your right but that doesn't change that i don't like the name" Rootspring half laughed.
" Oh i can name more Fidgetflake, Frecklewish, Macgyver, Turtlecrawl, Kitescratch trust me Skyclan has plenty of questionable names"
" Ya that's true Skyclan probably has the oddest names at the lake" Rootspring replied.
" It's gonna be weird being the only one in the apprentices den iv still got two and a half moons until my warrior assessment "
" Don't worry Wrenpaw will be waiting for you right Needleclaw"
" Of course Wrenpaw were gonna be looking forward to that day"
" Hey Wrenpaw" Fidgetflake padded up to Wrenpaw.
" Yeah Fidgetflake what is it?"
" Frecklewish wanted you and Nectarsong to take up shift on watching are prisoner"
" What why me is there no one else who can do that" Wrenpaw whined.
" No but's about it your watching Starling"
" Fine" Wrenpaw sighed before walking over to the medicine den
Flamestorm's point of view
" I can't believe we've already been here for a quarter of a moon" Flamestorm though to himself it had been an absolute miserable quarter of a moon sleeping on the island was miserable there were no dens the closet thing they got was digging out pits in the snow that they reinforced with bracken and cedar leaves Flamestorm wasn't getting much sleep.
The food crisis had gotten even worse the only food that they could find was toads turtles and snakes they found hibernating in the snow it tasted absolutely repulsive and meals had to split between six or seven cats.
But the worst part was the absence of Sorrelstripe knowing that she was gone for ever having to see Bayblossom and Myrtleflower .
" It's all you fault" the voice whispered in Flamestorm's head.
" No no Flamestorm it's not your fault" Flamestorm tried to reassure himself.
Right now he doesn't need to worry about that he's on the 1rst morning hunting patrol with , Whitewing, Blossomfall, Ivypool, Lilyheart, Fernsong, Finleap, Shellfur, Flywhisker and Flipclaw down by the thunderpath near the horseplace.
" Anything yet Fernsong?" Ivypool meowed sticking her head out of the snow holding a small vole in her jaws.
" Nope nothing yet love but me and Thornclaw were going to go check down by the Thunderpath if you want to come" Fernsong replied.
" Sure hunting can't get much worse"
" Flamestorm you want to come hunt with us at the Thunderpath?" Ivypool turned her head to Flamestorm.
" Umm sure" Flamestorm meowed nervously the idea of hunting near Thunderpath surrounded by monsters maid him nervous.
" Well get moving then" Flamestorm followed Ivypool towards the Thunderpath.
Arriving at the Thunderpath Flamestorm was thankful to see that there no monsters near by.
" Hey Lilyheart me Blossomfall, Flipclaw, Flywhisker, and Ivypool will hunt on this side of the Thunderpath" Whitewing meowed.
" You mind taking Fernsong Finleap Shellfur and Flamestorm across the Thunderpath to check on the other side"
" Lilyheart?" Whitewing questioned.
" Lilyheart Lilyheart hello Lilyheart"
" Oh ya Whitewing I'm on it come on guys lets get going" Lilyheart pointed with her tail towards the other side of the Thunderpath.
Flamestorm noticed that something had been off with Lilyheart the last few days the dark tabby and white she cat had seemed very distanced Flamestorm would catch her staring of towards the lake blue eyes focused on nothing.
" Alight Flamestorm time to cross the Thunderpath" Shellfur signaled with his tail to Flamestorm from the other side.
" Any monsters coming?"
" No there all sleeping still" Shellfur meowed.
Flamestorm quickly scrambled across the Thunderpath safely reaching the other side.
" See totally fine" Shellfur smiled.
Turning his nose to the ground Flamestorm scented for prey but only got the scent of snow.
Suddenly Flamestorm caught the scent of a crow turning his eyes upward Flamestorm saw the two crows sitting on a tree root digging for food in the snow.
Dropping low to the ground Flamestorm silently stalked forward in the snow to hide his black pelt that would stand out in the morning sky.
Leaping forward Flamestorm grappled one of the crows before it could fly killing it with a swift bite to the neck.
" Great catch Flamestorm!" Finleap meowed in congratulations.
" Flamestorm that's gonna feed several cats for a hole day" Shellfur meowed green eyes shinning in the morning light.
" Oh thanks guy's" Flamestorm replied.
" Hey look everyone Flamestorm caught a crow"
" Flamestorm that's great" Fernsong padded over dropping the newt in his jaws wrapping his tail around Flamestorm in congratulations.
" I don't think that iv ever eaten a crow before have you Fernsong" Finleap meowed
" Nope" Fernsong replied.
" Me neither Flamestorm what dose it taste like" Shellfur asked Flamestorm.
" Well it taste better then the snakes and toads that we've been eating all tell you that right now" All three toms laughed at Flamestorm's comment giving Flamestorm an intense happiness and a big smile on his face.
" I'm gonna get the other crow" Lilyheart's announcement cut off Flamestorm's happy thoughts.
" Wo there Lilyheart that crow all the way up the tree" Fernsong pointed to the top of the Pine tree were the second crow sat perched on one of the highest branches but Lilyheart was already clawing her way up the tree.
" Lilyheart get down from there" Fernsong ordered.
" No I'm not coming down this is gonna feed the clan" Lilyheart panted as she climbed higher up the tree.
" Grandma get down from there you've completely lost your mind" Flamestorm meowed Lilyheart didn't respond.
" Grandma! Grandma!"
" Forget it Flamestorm she cant hear you I'm going up there" Finleap meowed starting to climb up the tree.
Flamestorm as Finleap scaled the tree faster then any cat Flamestorm had ever seen Flamestorm assumed it had to be a Skyclan thing.
Lilyheart had reached the branch were the crow was perched crouching on the branch Lilyheart began stalking towards the crow Finleap closely following her.
As Lilyheart got closer and closer to the crow her weight began to bend the branch the crow noticed and took off into the air.
Lilyheart lunged forward claws outstretched to grab the crow only to end up falling short Lilyheart landed on the edge of the branch she frantically flailed her paws to find a grip Finleap stretched out is paw trying to reach her but it was to late.
Flamestorm stood in horror as Lilyheart slipped from the branch and fell slamming her head into one of the branches.
Flamestorm watched in horror as Lilyheart slammed into the ground with a tremendous thud.
