Chapter 1311
I'm Expendable
Savannah couldn't see much of anything. It was all dark now for her. She couldn't get to her night vision. She didn't know if she even still had them at this point. It felt like things were being ripped off of her vest. She needed to hang on. The pull was incredibly strong. Cammy held on to her by her vest to keep her from being pulled into the portal. She clung to the lathe to keep from being sucked in. The lathe was sliding across the floor. They were behind it and unable to break free.
She could see she was beyond help at this point. She wanted Cammy to save herself. There was no need for both of them to be sucked into the void.
"Cammy, leave me and get out." Savannah said.
Cammy knew if she let go of Savannah, she would be gone in a second. She'd already stayed past the point where she could get away. She was trapped the same as Savannah was. She also noted Savannah didn't 'order' her to abandon her. She appreciated the fact Savannah gave her a choice. She wouldn't have left anyway. She knew Savannah wouldn't have left her if the situation was reversed.
"I won't do it." Cammy said. "I can't get free at this point either. We're stuck together."
Cammy could see the SUV coming. It was going to hit the lathe. She saw Cam on the floor and Steve holding onto her ankle. Her gear and clothes were being ripped off of her body. Tom seemed to be holding on to Steve. They were all stuck. They would all end up being sucked away together. Tom might be able to save himself if he released Steve.
She knew he wouldn't do it. Not after he'd witnessed Savannah in the mine. Everyone survived because of her. They'd survived because she didn't give up. She remained calm in the face of death. She did her duty, even at great peril to herself. She never complained once, even when it looked like she was about to die. The SUV was about to impact the lathe. She gave Savannah a warning. There was nothing they could do about it, one way or the other.
"Hang on. The SUV is going to hit us. It's going to hit the lathe." Cammy said. "It will be on the other side."
She was aware two things could happen at the point of impact. The lathe could be knocked towards the portal and would probably immediately be sucked in, or the lathe may be deflected slightly in the opposite direction and impact the wall. They would most likely still be holding on to it after the impact.
There was a heavy impact as the SUV slammed into the lathe. The impact caused a shower of sparks. What it did do was change the trajectory of the lathe. It now impacted at an angle into the wall next to the portal and wedged. The SUV disappeared inside the wall. Cammy saw the mirrors were sheared off as it went through. The mirrors followed the SUV into the void, even as they were torn off.
Cammy knew this was it. She'd managed to claw her way to the end of the lathe while she dragged Savannah with her. The lathe was tearing the wall apart as it slid along after the SUV knocked it into it. She could see the door they entered from originally. Steve and Tom left the door open. As every second passed, they were a little further away from it.
She glanced over to the large roll up doorway and expected to see Cam gone. Instead, Cam was being pulled slowly outside of the building. She could hear two drones running at maximum output. They must be dragging the others away.
Cammy could see the lathe ripping the bottom of the wall apart as it was drug toward the portal. She counted on it hitting the electrical connection or amplifier at the bottom of the portal. She just needed a momentary fluctuation to break free and try for the door to the hallway. She thought she could make it with Savannah. She was determined wherever they went, they were going to go together.
The thought about 'The Good Skynet' and 'The Redheaded Witch' was in the forefront of her mind. She was sure it was where those names originated from if they were sucked in. They weren't gone yet. She just needed a little break.
Young Allison planned to do a temporal mission to prevent Cammy and Savannah from the peril they were in. She was then going to send an armed nuclear weapon into the portal. She didn't know what it was going to do. She was sure anyone on the other side was going to get a big surprise. Anybody not wearing two million sunblock was going to have a real bad day. There needed to be some form of retribution for the enemy action.
The first thing was to run the temporal mission.
"Is CamNet ready to send the energy bubble?" Young Allison asked.
Anna verified it was ready.
"CamNet has the TDE powered up and is ready to transmit a time bubble." Anna said. "She's indicated maximum power is available. It should be stronger than the vortex."
It was good news. They needed to prevent the event from happening.
"I think we're ready." Young Allison said.
Something bothered Anna. Things didn't add up yet. She needed to say something before they started.
"We should have seen it before." Anna said. "If we do this now, we should have seen it happen earlier."
Young Allison knew it was true. If they pulled Savannah and Cammy out before this happened. It's what they would have witnessed. It presented a new worry. There could be a multitude of reasons. One was more obvious than the others. It was something she'd already thought about.
"Do you think we created an alternate timeline?" Young Allison asked.
Anna didn't know. She checked with John Henry and CamNet.
"No one knows." Anna said.
Young Allison looked at one of the monitors. It showed images from a drone overhead as it flew out of the area. She'd spotted something.
"CamNet, send back the drone that was on this monitor here two seconds ago to scan the building on the north side of the interior." Young Allison said.
CamNet provided the image Young Allison got a glimpse of. It appeared there was something there.
Anna saw all the teams were away.
"Everyone is clear." Anna said. "The TDE is ready."
The drone returned. There were clearly two thermal signatures in the vicinity of where Savannah and Cammy were last observed.
"LOOK!" Young Allison said. "It has to be Cammy and Savannah. They are still there. Send the time bubble to that spot NOW."
Young Allison certainly hoped it was them. As far as they knew, two of the enemy could have somehow exited. They didn't have a clue as to how the unknown portal worked or what its capabilities were.
What Cammy wanted to happen wasn't going to happen.
The lathe stopped its destruction of the wall and no began to rotate out. It was going to get sucked in now anyway.
Cammy was now too far from the doorway to try to make a break for it.
Savannah couldn't see much of anything. She felt like Dorothy in the 'Wizard Of Oz' at this point.
Cammy's mouth was right against her ear.
"We're about to be sucked in." Cammy said. "I will try and hold on to you. I don't know what will happen. I love you, Savannah."
Savannah figured this was it.
"I love you, Cammy." Savannah said.
Cammy wasn't sure if she would be deactivated or not when she went through the portal. There was a good chance there would be some type of an electrical surge. She was sure she was experiencing her last moments of existence. They weren't very pleasant.
A time bubble began to rapidly form around them.
The lathe ripped loose from the wall and disappeared inside the portal.
The energy bubble remained in the spot Cammy and Savannah were in. It didn't go anywhere. Suddenly the energy bubble intensified in brightness. A second later it vanished.
Cameron couldn't take it anymore. She needed to see how John and Holly made love. She peeked around the corner. She looked. She had trouble processing what she saw.
Holly wore a bathrobe. John wore his underwear. They weren't making love. Holly gave John a massage like she'd experienced earlier in the spa with the other girls.
Cameron was surprised.
Holly looked back over her shoulder and smiled when she spotted Cameron.
"Hi, Cameron." Holly said. "We've been waiting for you."
Holly got up off the bed and picked up the tether.
Cameron looked. She was still a little befuddled. Events played out differently than she'd anticipated. She didn't want to ask but the words slipped out anyway.
"You two didn't make love?" Cameron asked.
John and Holly looked at each other.
Holly looked a little concerned. She wasn't there to cause trouble.
"Not without you I wouldn't." Holly said. "I want to keep having a better experience. Only you can give it to me. I really appreciate it. I'm thankful for all of this and the way everything was done."
Cameron was as speechless as she was confused.
John wanted Cameron to return before anything else happened. He didn't even need to tell Holly. She already knew. It was what she wanted too.
"We waited for you to return." John said. "We both wanted you to do what you did before."
Holly looked at John and smiled at Cameron.
"That's if you don't mind." Holly said.
Cameron was elated. She didn't mind at all.
She gave Holly a hug and removed her bathrobe. It excited her to see Holly's naked body. She wanted to be in control of it again.
John slipped off his shorts. He was excited to know the action would start again soon. After the massage Holly gave him, he was ready to go. He felt fully recharged.
Cameron was a little worried about the time. She didn't want John to come up short later on. She looked at him and smiled.
"I think you need some more of the anti-seasickness medicine first." Cameron said. "Let me get it real quick."
Holly was about to say the sea seemed very calm and it was unnecessary. She figured Cameron must be up to something else. Everyone knew Cameron knew what was best for them. Cameron told all of them the same thing frequently. She would have to thank Cameron again for doing what they were doing for her before she left.
Cameron returned with another blue pill and some water. She figured the new pill should kick in about the time the other one wore off. She looked at Holly's naked sheath. She couldn't wait to be in control of it again. It was going to be a good night. She planned to make the most of it.
John took the medicine and wondered where Cameron went a short time ago. She hadn't said much when she'd left. She didn't say anything when she'd returned.
"Was everything alright?" John asked.
Cameron looked around.
"When?" Cameron asked.
John thought it was obvious.
"Where you went earlier." John said.
Cameron didn't remember much about it.
"Everything is fine." Cameron said. "There were no problems anywhere."
John was pleased to hear it. He didn't need Cameron worrying about anything she couldn't control. There was something else he wanted right now. He looked at Cameron and Holly standing naked side by side. It was quite a sight no matter how it was viewed. He wanted to make sure everyone was still on the same page.
"This is what everyone wants to happen, right?" John asked.
Holly looked directly at John.
"I do." Holly said.
John cringed a little. He was still troubled by the wording.
Cameron's eyes were fixated on Holly's massive breasts. She already knew how John was going to fondle them. She was pretty sure she was going to do the same thing as soon as she was tethered with Holly. She wanted to fondle them as well. She would do it as 'herself'.
"Yes." Cameron said.
Holly looked at Cameron. She wanted to reaffirm her status so John knew she was 'good' with everything. She repeated what she'd said just a minute ago.
"I really appreciate you doing this for me, Cameron." Holly said. "It's been a very beautiful experience for me. Thank you too, John. I appreciate you allowing Cameron to use my chassis."
John looked at Holly. He could see she meant what she said. It still surprised him somewhat.
Holly always knew John would be her first. She'd never imagined it would be like this. She moved her hair off to the side. She wanted to get started.
Cameron plugged the tether into Holly's neck.
She handed the other end of the tether to Holly and pulled her hair to the side.
Holly smiled at Cameron. She knew how Allison liked to fondle her. She did it herself sometimes too. She figured Cameron would want to do the same. Some things were just nice to touch.
"Don't forget to give the 'girls' a few good squeezes before you get started." Holly whispered.
Cameron lightly moistened her lips in anticipation.
Holly smiled at John as she plugged the tether in.
Cameron climbed up on the bed and over to the side.
"Cover me up." Cameron said.
John did. He noticed she wasn't so far over to the side this time. He hoped later on she would do what she did with Hanna's chassis and switch back and forth. He didn't want to ask. He wanted Cameron to do what she was comfortable with. He didn't want her to have any problems on his account. He figured he'd already created enough of them for her over the years. He wasn't going to blow it with what they were doing.
He stood and faced Holly and began to fondle her breasts.
Holly giggled. She wanted John to touch her more. She just didn't want to create any problems with Cameron. She hoped to be with him soon enough on her own anyway
"It's still me - Holly." Holly whispered.
John quickly withdrew his hands.
"I'm sorry." John said.
John watched Holly close her eyes and open them again. He watched her look down and reach up with her hands and fondle both of her breasts for a short time. She lifted her head and looked at him. She quickly reached down and took his hands and placed them back on her breasts.
"It's me now, John." Holly-Cameron said. "I understand the fascination."
John began to fondle Holly-Cameron again. He wanted to say a few things now while his mind was still clear. He didn't want to say the wrong thing later on.
"I love you, Cameron." John said.
John released Holly-Cameron's breasts in anticipation of picking her up.
"I love you, John." Holly-Cameron said.
Right now she loved her larger breasts and being in Holly's chassis.
John was a little surprised to see Holly-Cameron begin to knead her own breasts again. Her hands looked very hungry as she did. He could see she liked them as much as he did.
Holly-Cameron realized John was staring at her. She quickly released her breasts and scooped John up in her arms. She laid him on the bed. Before she took control, Holly indicated to her she wanted to 'learn' as much as possible. She intended to go 'around the world'. Most of all, she wanted to please John. She wanted him to have the best honeymoon ever.
"How do you want it?" Holly-Cameron asked. "I'm open to anything."
John took in her beauty. He was aware 'anything' covered a lot. He would rather have Cameron call the shots.
"You decide." John said. "You lead and I'll follow. Surprise me."
Holly-Cameron intended to. She was very pleased at John and Holly's earlier restraint. Maybe she did know what was best for everyone. Sheila and Hanna both told her the same things. Hadn't she done all of this before? She was sure she had. Maybe the real question was, how many times had it been?
There was something else she couldn't get out of her mind. It was her 'unspoken' conversation with Summer. Summer told her to trust in her love. She told her to 'believe'. It made her wonder if Summer actually knew what was going on when it was happening in the bedroom of the Owner's Suite. Maybe Summer understood relationships better than she did.
Perhaps Summer actually played a bigger role in the background than anyone knew. Maybe she always had. It made her wonder how much of what occurred around the Young residence actually happened on its own accord. She quickly pushed the thought from her mind. Maybe it was just the other way around. Maybe Summer put the brakes on what happened around the Young residence. Somehow, it seemed like a more likely scenario.
She'd heard many rumors from the Terminators who provided conditioning to Young Allison and Summer. Not all of the intended subjects were presented to Summer. Sometimes there was a last minute subject change. They weren't really sure how it happened. Sometimes they change the topic, even after they'd started on the scheduled one. It was usually on the subject Summer studied before bed.
Hanna listened outside the Master Suite door. She'd heard the conversation between Jesse and Claire.
She needed to stop them from going to the Control Center. It would turn into a problem.
Hanna quickly opened the door to the Master Suite.
Claire and Jesse almost bumped into Hanna.
"Where are you two going naked?" Hanna asked.
Claire and Jesse looked at each other.
"We were going to check on Savannah." Claire said.
Hanna needed to keep things under control. There was no need to worry them about something they couldn't control or have any influence over whatsoever. The cards would land where they fell. It was nothing for Claire and Jesse to worry about.
"Savannah?" Hanna asked. "I was just in the Control Center with Cameron. Everything was under control."
Claire and Jesse looked at each other.
"Do you mean nothing is going on?" Jesse asked.
Hanna wanted them to go back to bed. She didn't want them to go into the Control Center naked either.
"Everything is fine." Hanna said. "You can get dressed and we can go back there, or I can get undressed and join you."
Claire and Jesse figure if Hanna told them everything was OK, then it must be.
"Let me help you out of your dress then." Claire said.
Jesse looked at the door to the Control Center and closed their door. She went and joined Claire and Hanna.
The 'danger' that Jesse and Claire felt for Savannah passed. It ended much more suddenly than it had grown.
Sheila slowly injected Laura with the pain medication.
Laura expected to feel a little pain from the injection. She didn't.
"Usually at the dentist it hurts when they give me a shot of Novocain." Laura said.
Sheila examined her. She'd used a different anesthetic. It wasn't why I didn't hurt.
"It's because they inject it too fast." Sheila said. "I use care and do everything right the first time. I want my patients to feel comfortable."
Laura touched everything. Things didn't feel different yet. She knew she needed to wait a little bit for the medicine to have an effect. She was a little bit bothered by something else.
"There is way too much going on down there." Laura said.
It got Sheila's interest.
Sheila smiled.
"There are other ways to deal with things." Sheila said. "I can save you a few thousand dollars."
Laura looked at Sheila.
"I don't know." Laura said.
Sheila knew what was best.
"Search it out on the internet." Sheila said. "There are more than a few options available."
It was another idea Laura liked.
Sheila noticed Ally gave her a dirty look. She hadn't done anything, yet.
Leticia was ready to get started. She decided to prompt Sheila before she became too infatuated with Laura and her quest for further modifications.
"Let's get started." Leticia said.
Sheila thought she better start at the top.
Leticia smiled as Sheila looked at her.
"I'm a 36C." Leticia said. "I'm happy with my size. It's not too big or too small."
Sheila quickly prepared the areas to be pierced.
The other girls looked on with anticipation.
"Are you ready?" Sheila asked.
Leticia took a deep breath.
"Do it." Leticia said.
Sheila was ready and instantly did the first one.
Leticia went to yelp. It happened so quickly, the pain was gone as fast as it came.
"That's it?" Leticia asked.
Sheila quickly put the ring in.
"One side is done." Sheila said.
Leticia looked at herself in the mirror.
"That looks beautiful." Leticia said.
Sheila was ready to do the other side.
"Are you ready?" Sheila asked.
Leticia took a deep breath.
"Do it." Leticia said.
Sheila instantly did the second one.
Leticia sucked in her breath. It was clear there was some additional pain there.
"I felt that one a little more." Leticia said.
Sheila figured all pain would be soon be forgotten. She quickly put the second ring in.
"Look in the mirror." Sheila said.
Leticia liked what she saw.
"Wow!" Leticia said. "LOOK at me!"
It was exactly what everyone was doing.
Mary was a little jealous of the way Leticia looked before. Now she was really jealous. Leticia looked like dynamite. She couldn't help but like what she saw. The longer she looked at Leticia, the more she liked everything about her. She didn't want to like it. She just couldn't help it.
"I think you look very alluring." Mary said. "I really like the look."
Laura always thought Leticia was Hot.
"She's even more beautiful now." Laura said.
Sheila pointed at Mary and Laura. It was time for the second set.
"They'll do the work." Sheila said.
Sheila gave each one of them detailed instructions. She reminded them everything was a lot tougher than it looked. Things went smoothly.
It was over quickly.
Everyone examined their handiwork and was pleased with the results.
Mary looked at Laura. She wondered if the pain medication had kicked in yet.
"How are you doing?" Mary asked.
Laura touched herself. It seemed to have worked. She knew she couldn't get off now if she tried.
Mary and Leticia were busy examining each other. It was clear they were bonding. Laura was a common lover to both of them already. Things should turn into a positive experience for all of them.
Ally and Sheila were really ready for the next step. They still needed to think about CamNet's 'warning' to them. Was it a warning, or just a reminder to use some restraint.
Summer and Jan went back to make sure the bathroom was straightened up. They didn't want to leave a mess for anyone. It was mainly Summer's idea. It looked like Gail took care of everything when they'd put their bed clothes on. It was probably because they'd taken a little longer than they should have to put their bed clothes on. It wasn't an accident.
They headed over to the small kitchen area and looked at the selection of snacks. It looked like the pantry was freshly restocked since yesterday. There were even more things there now.
Jan never received a selection of snack items like this at the Resistance base. Every time she went to the store with her mother, she told her the things she wanted to get as they went down the aisles. She was always told she didn't need it.
"Look at all this stuff." Jan said.
Summer did look.
"There are a lot of good things here." Summer said.
Jan wondered if they could take them home with them if they didn't use all of them. She didn't think her parents would approve of it. She decided not to ask.
Gail watched as Jan and Summer picked out some snacks and shared them. She was pleased they didn't overdo it.
They decided to watch a movie. The girls wanted Gail to pick the movie.
"You have to pick it, Gail." Jan said.
Gail was unsure what to watch.
"I don't know." Gail said.
Jan wondered why not.
"Don't you ever go to the movies?" Jan asked. "You must at least see some at the base."
Gail seldom watched any TV or movies.
"I've never been to a movie theater." Gail said. "I don't watch TV much."
Summer wondered what Gail and Jesse did all the time. It surely must be more than have sex. She had her suspicions. She wanted Gail to be comfortable with her response.
"When you go out with Jesse, what do you do?" Summer asked. "You don't have to get into personal things."
Gail didn't want to talk about it. Savannah asked her before and she needed to tell her she didn't want to talk about it. She didn't want to lie to Savannah or Summer or compromise Jesse.
"We hang out." Gail said. "We do the things Jesse wants to do. They're fine with me. Can I leave it at that?"
Summer looked at Gail for a long moment. She slowly nodded her head.
"We don't need to discuss private matters." Summer said. "Everyone is entitled to have a private life. Some things are very personal to each of us. I understand."
Gail smiled. She felt like Summer just waded through her mind. Now she really wondered about Summer. The things she did with Jesse were very personal to Jesse. It was the time when the 'old Jesse' would reemerge for a few hours.
Jan still wanted Gail to pick a movie.
"Did you decide on a movie yet?" Jan asked.
Gail wanted the girls to pick the movie. They were better qualified since they had more experience.
"Can you pick it for me?" Gail asked. "I need some help."
Jan thought Gail would like an action movie.
Summer thought Gail should watch a romantic movie. It seemed appropriate for what awaited Gail….
The girls discussed it.
Jan decided to go with the romance movie over the action movie when Summer and her exchanged a long glance.
Gail seemed pleased they'd settled on a romance movie.
The girls got Gail to sit up in bed between them as the movie started. She'd wanted to watch it standing off to the side so she wouldn't disrupt them.
Jan and Summer wondered what Gail thought she would be disrupting. They were just going to watch a movie.
Gail had still been a little hesitant until Jan told her it would be more fun.
She wanted to have fun. She had fun when she was with the girls.
Gail enjoyed the attention the girls paid her. She'd previously felt it and now she felt it again. She liked it was her they wanted to interact with, not what she could offer or do for them. They were both very much like Savannah. They didn't carry the baggage and doom the girls from the future did. It was one more reason to defeat Skynet and keep it from ruining more lives.
She really wondered if she should run some type of temporal mission into the girls from the alternate future's past. She still felt something needed to be done to prevent all of those bad things from happening to them. They deserved better than what was forced upon them.
She was sure Cam and Holly would want to accompany her once they knew what the nature of the mission would be. They would all go back and protect their human lover from the abuse. She decided they should bring Sheila with them as well. Justice would be served better if Sheila was along. It wouldn't help the girls now. It would just prevent it from happening in the first place.
'It would also create a new timeline and another alternate future.' Was a thought which suddenly popped into her mind.
Gail quickly looked at Summer.
Summer nodded once.
Cammy and Savannah were enveloped by an energy bubble as they slid across the floor behind the lathe towards the portal.
Savannah figured they probably died and Young Allison was going back in time to save them. She didn't realize it was being done in real time because the TDE was already powered up to go back in time to prevent them from reentering the building.
They remained in one spot as the lathe suddenly pulled away from them. It was sucked into the portal. They were in the energy bubble, but it wasn't going anywhere. Things still looked like they were up in the air. In a second, there was an energy surge.
They were pulled away from the portal.
Savannah wondered where they were going.
It seemed like any place but the portal was a good idea at this point.
Vanna was on the edge of a finish. She could feel it building and it was going to be an explosive one. Those were the best. Samantha worked intently on her while Allison kissed and fondled her.
There was a sound building in the background.
Vanna tensed up.
It was a sound that usually meant bad news.
Vanna sat upright and quickly stood.
"Open the arms locker." Vanna shouted.
Allison was totally confused and then she heard it. The TDE was running.
Samantha sprang into action. She opened the arms locker. She handed Vanna a vest and an M4.
"You two stay HERE." Vanna said. "I need to know where you're at. Precious comes first. You're to protect Precious and only worry about her. I want you to remember it, no matter what happens. Nothing else matters."
Vanna slipped the vest on over her naked figure and took off.
Allison was dismayed to see her lover run off to fight the unknown alone.
"Vanna!" Allison called after her.
Samantha handed Allison a vest and an M4.
"Put this on now." Samantha said. "Vanna wants you to remain here because you're pregnant."
Samantha took the last vest and went to cover Precious with it.
Allison knew it was nothing good at this point. She slipped on the vest and charged her M4. She retreated into the room with Samantha and Precious.
Samantha felt she needed to do more. She looked in the direction Vanna went.
"You stay with Precious." Samantha said.
Allison made another plan. She was very firm about it. Precious stood a better chance of survival with a Terminator, not her.
"You will take Precious and escape from here if we're under attack. I'll cover you." Allison said. "Precious comes first. If I see John Henry I'll have him assist you."
Samantha worried about Allison and Vanna. It would leave them alone to fight.
"What about you?" Samantha asked.
Allison looked at Samantha and told it to her straight.
"Vanna and I would both be dead by now in our future. We've been living on borrowed time the last few years." Allison said. "We both know it, even if we never discuss it. It doesn't matter, we don't even belong here. Precious comes first and that's final."
Samantha remembered Cameron told her the Resistance members would always rise to the occasion and do what was necessary. Right now was a perfect example.
She wanted Allison and Vanna to be safe. She knew she had another responsibility. Allison and Vanna made it clear to her. It was Precious.
Vanna charged her M4 and then secured her vest as she ran to the TDE room. There was no one there which only made her worry more. The TDE shouldn't be running on its own.
She was about to try and contact John Henry when an energy bubble began to form on the pad.
"Oh, crap." Vanna said.
She moved behind the console and aimed her M4 at the energy bubble. There were two figures in it.
Whatever it was, it was happening now. She knew if it was a Terminator of any type, she was screwed.
She could hear the footsteps of someone approaching at a run. They sounded loud. If it wasn't John Henry, she was really screwed. The thought brought a brief smile to her face. Danger came from everywhere. It could be from a bullet or tied to a bed….
The energy bubble was at its full intensity. It wasn't dissipating.
John Henry burst into the room. He saw Vanna point an M4 at him.
"I need to get them out of the time bubble." John Henry said. "It's Cammy and Savannah."
Vanna knew it meant there was some major problem. It was a method only to be used for 'end of life' events. She wondered what went wrong this time.
She moved around to console toward the TDE pad.
"Will it incapacitate you?" Vanna asked.
John Henry figured it would. He really didn't know what would happen.
"It seems more than likely." John Henry said.
Vanna tossed John Henry her M4 and slipped off her vest.
"I'll do it." Vanna said. "I'm expendable."
John Henry went to stop her but she was already moving.
Vanna rushed into the energy bubble and knocked Cammy and Savannah out of the time bubble. They sprawled onto the floor.
The only trouble was, now Vanna was in the energy bubble.
Nobody knew what would happen next.
Earlier:
The female Fanatic needed to backtrack. She took off at a run towards the street she'd approached the building in the van on. She would need to pass by the intersection where the car on its side was at.
The flames from the burning building lit the surrounding area. She didn't have any trouble seeing whatsoever. It was almost like daylight. She wanted to go around the block and get ahead of the Gray. It appeared to her he must be slightly injured because he wasn't moving at a very fast speed.
She wanted to stay away from the man who continued to kick the hood of his car and push on the roof of it. It was on its side, it was going to remain there until a wrecker arrived and took it away. She could tell just by looking at it, it's next destination was the scrap yard.
She stayed up against the building when she got to the corner. She didn't think the angry man noticed her. She looked back in the direction of where the building was at. She could see another car upside down on its roof. It was currently engulfed in flames. It occurred to her, it might be the car the Gray had been in at the time of the explosion. She did remember another car came around the corner pretty hot behind her. Since it was on fire, there was no way to tell what color it was. It seemed the most probable answer as to how the Gray was still alive. It was clear the car had rolled several times by how crushed down the roof was on it.
The man continued to curse and push on the roof of his car to upright it. She was pretty sure he was in shock of some sort. She didn't have time to stop and console him. She didn't think he was a Gray, or it was the vehicle he'd been in. She was sure it was the upside down one.
It seemed there should be some type of emergency response on the way by now. Maybe her hearing was a little more damaged than she'd thought. The higher pitched tones of a siren might be harder to detect. One thing was for sure. She didn't want to be around when the first responders arrived. She didn't want to deal with the police. She currently only carried her knife. It would still constitute a felony.
More than likely her fingerprints had been collected at numerous crime scenes since her arrival in the past. It was something none of them worried about. They knew at any time in the service of SkyMaster, they might be required to make the ultimate sacrifice It was always a comforting thought. It made the hard decisions easier. It was their duty to protect SkyMaster. Their reward was Ascension.
She quickly turned right at the corner. She moved at a fast jog. She didn't want to run at full speed yet. It would tire her out quicker. She really needed to get some food. She could use a little rest while she was at it. Maybe when she was at the supermarket, she would be able to get some more of the anti-drowsy medicine. She didn't sleep, she was sure going to need it. Right now she was still pumped full of adrenaline after her escape from the explosion.
Her phone still worked. She checked the time. It had only been just over five minutes since she'd conducted her attack. She wanted to try to get ahead of the Gray. She increased her speed. She ran down the length of the street of the other businesses along the way. She was on a parallel route with the Gray.
If she spotted a vehicle at one of them, she was going to take it. She could use it as a weapon against the Gray. If she timed it right, she could run him down when he crossed the street. She needed to assume he was armed. She might even go up on the curb or the sidewalk and crush him up against the wall or a building. She could then take his weapons. She wanted more than just the knife she carried. There were still a few more locations she needed to visit.
As she approached the corner she slowed. She moved up to the side of the building. She figured she was ahead of the Gray at this point if he'd continued to move at the same speed he was moving earlier.
It didn't seem likely he would return in the direction where she was. She thought he would continue on towards the supermarket. There were cars parked there earlier. There would be cars parked there now. She knew the vehicle she arrived in should still be parked there. She hoped no one would steal it. She wanted the weapons in the trunk.
What she didn't know, is if there would be an emergency response for the three men she'd killed. It was an honest case of self defense to her. Well, at least for the first two. She did lay in wait and ambush the third one.
She took a quick look around the corner. She checked out the intersection ahead. She didn't see anyone on the cross street for the street she'd been on earlier. She was pretty sure she was at least two buildings ahead of the Gray currently. She looked around as she advanced. She made it up to the building on the next corner. She carefully peered round the corner. She could see the Gray was almost to her location. He was closer than she'd anticipated. He still moved along the buildings. Maybe this was her chance.
The knife was in her hand. She quickly moved into the bushes up against the building. If he continued along his current path, she should be able to stab him as he passed. She waited a moment and listened. She figured he should almost be there. There was only silence.
It was time to take a gamble. She peeked her head out from behind the bush.
'Damn.' She said to herself.
She saw the Gray was across the street. He'd evidently cut the corner and was headed up the side street. She waited until he moved past the side of the corner building. She quickly crossed the street and moved to the building he'd just passed.
The female Fanatic was still a little angry at herself she didn't have the chance to kill him.
The Gray made his decision. He turned at the cross street to go towards the main street. He hoped to find a vehicle on the next cross street he came to as he made his way towards the shopping center.
He listened for the sound of the emergency vehicles. So far he couldn't hear any. He moved his index finger against his thumb and held it to his ear. He rubbed them back and forth. He couldn't hear anything yet. He clapped his hands twice again in front of him. He could hear the sound clearly now. His hearing was coming back. It wasn't there all the way yet. He'd been involved in two horrific explosions in the last few hours. He'd actually been in a number of horrific events in the last day. There'd been more action in the last day then there'd been in the last month for him personally.
The next cross street was right in front of him. He was almost there. He paused when he reached the corner of the building and looked in both directions on the cross street. He didn't see anyone out. He also didn't see any vehicles parked.
'Damn.' The Gray thought.
It was time to make another decision. He could continue straight and reach the main street or make the turn and go down the side street. It would keep him out of the view of anyone if he did. He was sure the sound of the explosion would draw the authorities. He didn't think fire trucks would be the only thing on their way. He listened again. Why weren't there any? He was sure there would be by now.
Since there were no vehicles on the cross street he came to. He elected to continue to the main street. He would rather find a vehicle than worry about getting stopped as a suspect. By the slow emergency response, it didn't seem it was a priority. Right now he didn't have any weapons on him if he was searched. He did have a considerable amount of cash.
It would also give him a heads up as to what was happening at the supermarket. He knew if the death of the three men had been reported by the homeless female who took the green dress, they would be there by now.
He really wished he had some type of weapon. If he saw the homeless female who took the green dress, he was going to kill her. He didn't want to have to strangle her. As far as he knew, she might carry a knife or a ice pick. It also occurred to him she may have picked up a weapon one of the men may have carried.
Right now he needed a vehicle. There were several more locations he could visit. There were also past locations where his group had been attacked. He could drive by some of those as well. Usually they put up some kind of surveillance to see if the attackers ever returned. He didn't think they ever had.
The main street was just up ahead. He looked behind him to make sure there was no one there. There wasn't. He crossed the side street and approached the intersection with the main street. He could see cars passing by in both directions. There weren't very many. There still weren't any sirens.
The Gray turned the corner onto the main street. He headed towards the supermarket.
Earlier:
CamNet's Terminators needed to reposition themselves. They decided to wait near the shopping center. They figured one or both of the individuals would arrive there soon.
The first Terminator listened to the Resistance operation going on.
"It looks like they have a big problem at another location." The first Terminator said.
The second Terminator made an inquiry if they were needed there. They were told to hold.
"We're to remain with this operation for now." The second Terminator said.
The first Terminator thought they could be more useful there.
"If all we're going to do here is babysit, the drone can continue to do it." The first Terminator said.
The second Terminator made an inquiry about the suggestion.
"It's possible the Gray and the female Fanatic may go in different directions." The second Terminator said. "There are currently no more drones available in our vicinity."
The first Terminator could see why.
"They're all prepared to make a strike at the location of the unknown anomaly." The first Terminator said.
The second Terminator really wanted to terminate both the Gray and the female Fanatic.
"It doesn't appear either of the two individuals we're involved with are currently part of the other operation." The second Terminator said.
CamNet's Terminators were told to hold their position and wait. They were also advised they may lose they're drone if it was needed at the other location. It was possible a drone which expended all of its ordinance may replace the one currently over them.
I'm Expendable
To be true to myself
I try to do what's right
I am who I am
I'd rather excite than fight
What will ever be
Considered as good enough
To meet unattainable goals
Is hard and tough
Why can't someone be
Just who they really are
There should be plenty
In love's reservoir
When does it end
Does the second guessing ever stop
Things get broken easily
Went they're left to drop
I can see where things are headed
Even if I'm dependable
In the end it doesn't matter
I'm expendable
Nobody
