Chapter 1327
Guess We Did
Allison was worried about what Holly asked her the other day. She wanted to talk with her about it. She whispered something to Vanna and then went to sit next to Holly.
It seemed to please Holly immensely.
Cam moved up and sat next to Vanna.
Allison and Vanna didn't know the full extent of what Cameron had already done with all of the Metal girl's chassis. They'd been aware of what she'd intended.
Vanna looked back and Holly whispered in Allison's ear. Holly looked very happy. Allison didn't. She could tell Allison was very upset. Now she felt a little upset as well.
Allison was sure her mouth dropped open a little bit as she listened to Holly. She wanted to make sure she got everything straight. It was a little hard to believe.
"All of you?" Allison asked.
Holly nodded.
Allison looked at the other Metal girls and they all smiled at her.
"All of us except Ally." Holly said. "It's her turn tonight."
Allison didn't like how it happened. She felt Holly was left out of the process. She believed it should have been done differently.
"You should have been the one in control." Allison said.
Holly could tell Allison was disturbed. She didn't want her to be upset. She wanted her to be happy for her. She tried to make her position clear.
"It was what I wanted." Holly said. "Please be happy for me. I am."
Allison could see Holly genuinely meant it. She was able to produce a faint smile.
"Sure, Holly, I'm happy you're happy." Allison said.
Allison didn't want to talk about it right now.
Holly and the rest of the girls started to tell Allison about things on the ship and some of the shows they'd watched. Vanna and Cam moved back so they could talk better with the rest of the girls.
Cameron reassured them they wouldn't miss much on the ride back.
Allison moved next to Vanna and whispered in her ear.
Vanna crossed her legs as Allison told her the full extent of what happened. She slightly shook her head back and forth.
Cam tilted her head slightly as she listened. She looked at Cameron who smiled and winked at her. She quickly looked away. She knew why she was going to be on the ship now.
John was none the wiser. He listened as Frank continued the narration. He seemed to provide even more information than Dan gave them.
Vanna and Allison both felt very uneasy. They both looked a little glum.
They looked at all the Metal girls and they all looked really happy. It wasn't something they saw very often. Even Gail looked happy. They both thought she was really pretty when she smiled.
The UH-1 neared the coast. They passed a few big ships along the way. There was one tanker and several container ships. They could see the ports at Long Beach and Terminal Island.
They were able to see all the port activity. There were container ships loading and unloading. There were a few tankers. One ship seemed to catch Jan's eye. She saw a movie about a ship which looked very similar.
"Look at all the big ships." Jan said. "One looks like the Titanic. Did they finally fix it?"
Sarah explained it was the Queen Mary and the Titanic was still at the bottom of the ocean. She remembered seeing a report on TV once about the Titanic's top speed. The fastest the Titanic went, was the broken off bow section right before it impacted the sea floor. It just seemed ironic it was its fastest speed.
Kyle spotted something over towards the San Pedro side of the harbor.
"Do you see the big green bridge?" Kyle asked. "It is a little over to the left."
Jan spotted it earlier. She liked the way the Golden Gate Bridge looked better.
"I see it." Jan said.
Kyle wanted Jan to know it was where the cruise ship was docked earlier.
"It's where the cruise ship left from." Kyle said. "There's a big battleship over by there too."
Dan checked with John Henry. The air space was theirs over the LA River all the way until they crossed just south of Van Nuys Airport.
Kyle saw all the big buildings off to the west as they flew north. He didn't know what any of them were. He just knew none of them looked like they did now in the future. There was a freeway right next to the LA river some of the way.
Sarah spotted the location where Cameron flipped the SUV over as she tried to escape in the LA River. Cameron tortured her to call out to John. She refused to do it. Later on she trapped Cameron between two trucks and John deactivated her. It was the first time she'd heard Cameron tell John she loved him. She doubted Cameron at the time but maybe she really spoke the truth then. Once her chip was reinstalled John and Cameron walked away hand in hand. She didn't know Cameron overrode her 'termination order' for John.
It was a strange world.
Everything changed again over the next couple of days. It reminded her the only constant in life was change.
Sarah spotted Dodger's Stadium. She'd went there once with her roommate Ginger. The thought brought back both good and bad memories. Most of them were bad. Ginger was always able to pick up the cute guys. Ginger died because of her. Well, Ginger died because of Skynet. She needed to clear her mind.
She'd thought about too many 'bad' things right now when she'd just had such a great time. She looked over at Kyle and then hugged Jan. Everything was good now. She really wondered how long it would last.
It seemed whenever something good happened, there was something twice as bad which soon followed it.
Jesse and Claire only fondled each other as the plane flew. They wanted to take in the scenery too.
There were a few surprises in store for both of them.
"I see more islands off to the left side." Claire said. "One of them looks big."
Savannah picked up the headset transmission.
"Those are the other Channel Islands." Savannah said.
It reminded Claire and Jesse everything they said to each other, could be heard by others as long as they wore the headsets.
Jesse wished she would have said a little more.
Claire wished she would have said a little less. She was afraid of what Summer might hear.
Young Allison looked at Savannah. She wondered if Savannah wanted to make a little detour.
Savannah picked up on the unspoken question. She figured they would be able to make up the time for any detour. They'd chosen a leisurely speed to return so everyone could enjoy the view. They could bump up the speed and make up for any additional distance they flew. They still needed to be mindful of the time.
"Pick up the speed and we can do a closer flyby." Savannah said. "We need to get Jesse and Riley back on time."
Young Allison nodded. She made a very gentle bank and turned towards the islands. She also increased the engine speed to near maximum. The speed of the Mitchell picked up noticeably.
Anna ran the calculations. They should still get back at the same time they were going to originally with the speed increase, even with the slight detour.
She quickly realized if anything went wrong, she was the only Terminator present with a group of seven humans. It was a much lower ratio of Terminators to humans than they ever normally went out with. Then again, if the plane ended up in the ocean, she would need to walk back to shore on the seabed.
Derek helped Summer into the tail gun position. Things seemed a little cramped for her in the confined space. She knew what not to touch. She had an excellent view behind them but she was ready for a better view. It was kind of sad to watch the cruise ship grow smaller as they flew away from it.
She carefully moved out of the tail gun position after a few minutes.
Derek helped Riley move into it. He gave her a few pointers on the way.
Summer moved up to the bomb bay.
Anna looked back and saw Summer coming.
Summer crossed over the bomb bay in a few seconds. Anna showed her Savannah and Young Allison flying. They both looked back and smiled at her.
Anna helped Summer look out of the top turret.
Summer liked the three hundred and sixty degree view. It wasn't much better than the tail gun position. She wasn't sure she would like the 'Fifties' firing on each side of her head. She would need a good set of earplugs as well as a good set of headphones to protect her hearing. She could imagine the hot brass piling up on the floor of the plane as the guns fired at enemy targets.
Anna showed Summer how to actuate the turret to get the feel for how it operated. She could see Summer mastered it almost instantly. It was like everything she did. She was sure under combat conditions, Summer would be able to score with any of the weapons better than any of the other humans. She would be able to calculate the speed of the enemy aircraft and proper angles to shoot and lead the enemy aircraft.
Claire was being fondled heavily by Jesse when Anna poked her head into the nose.
"It is time to rotate." Anna said. "Summer wants a take a look up in the front."
Anna backed out and Jesse took one last look around.
"I'll send Summer up to you." Jesse said.
Claire nodded. She made sure she was covered and buttoned up. Jesse had her left breast out earlier.
Summer entered the nose a few seconds after Jesse left.
'Hi, Mom." Summer said.
Claire smiled and let Summer look around.
"I like this view." Summer said.
There was plenty of room for Claire and Summer.
Claire was able to enjoy the view a little more. She didn't need to concentrate on anything else.
Jesse moved up to look around in the top turret. She wasn't so sure she would like the guns firing on either side of her head. She dropped down and watched Savannah and Young Allison for a few minutes. She spotted Derek in the rear fuselage and Anna helped her go over the crawlway.
Derek was surprised to see her. He pointed to the back.
"Riley is in the tail gun position." Derek said.
Jesse smiled.
"It's one of your favorite positions." Jesse said.
Derek looked nervous but managed to smile.
"Do you want to trade with Riley?" Derek asked.
Jesse shrugged her shoulders.
"I thought we already did…." Jesse said.
Derek nodded.
"I guess we did." Derek said.
Jesse wanted Riley to check out the nose position.
"Let me get her." Jesse said. "We can switch again."
Derek watched Jesse go to the back. There were times he really missed her hot trim body. He didn't miss the 'old Jesse' as much. She was a much better person now. It didn't make him feel very good to know it wasn't thanks to him either. It was thanks to Cameron and the girls.
He sure hoped he wasn't a negative influence on Riley. Maybe part of her depression was more than just being pregnant and having Precious. Maybe it was a result of being around him all of the time. He couldn't help but think about what she'd said about having a part time girlfriend. He really didn't think it would be a problem. He wanted her to be happy as well. He knew if she wasn't happy, she wouldn't have a part time girlfriend, she would have a full time girlfriend and he'd be out. He was more than willing to share. He wondered who it would be. He hoped it wasn't Jesse. He didn't think he'd be able to compete with her.
Jesse went back and traded places with Riley.
The UH-1 thundered along.
After Dodger's Stadium, the LA River took on more of a westerly direction with a few juts to the north every now and then.
Kyle was happy to spot where Taylor Yard used to be. It was once the major rail yard of the Southern Pacific railroad in the Los Angeles area. Everything was built over now with other structures except where the roundhouse used to be and the locomotive servicing tracks. The scars where they were ripped out from, could still be seen from the air.
A little later they passed the LA Live Steamers and Travel Town. They were both places he needed to visit again. He was glad to see some of the railroad equipment was being fixed up. Much of it was in derelict condition previously. It was a shame when a future generation let history rot, especially when those before them tried to preserve a few pieces of their history.
He remembered when they'd visited the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris. They were told some of the equipment was originally at Travel Town. When the 101 freeway was being constructed, they'd needed to move it away from the Travel Town location to its current location. Most of the equipment at the OERM was in operating condition. Not much at Travel Town was anywhere close to it.
Savannah thought they'd come close enough to the other Channel Islands for a good look. She was mindful of the time. They'd already informed John Henry they'd would return to Van Nuys by a specific time. She wanted to adhere to the original timetable.
"Everyone take a look at the other islands. We're about to head back." Savannah said. "Riley and Derek can come forward if they want."
Summer and Claire exited the nose.
Riley was waiting.
"Summer can come back to the front with me." Riley said. "Derek is going to look out of the top turret and then watch Savannah and Allison fly."
Summer was excited and went back into the nose.
"Jesse is in the rear section." Riley said as she gave Claire a wink.
It was clear everyone knew what was about to happen.
Anna wanted them to be mindful of the time.
"We have about fifteen minutes until we touch down." Anna said.
Anna helped Claire over the bomb bay.
"Continue to remind us of the time." Claire said. "If Summer wants to leave the front of the plane, let us know as soon as possible."
Claire went into the rear fuselage. It was a little less crowded there, but still smaller than she thought it would be.
Jesse met her and took her to the tail gun position.
Claire took a quick look. She wanted to get things started.
Jesse moved Claire forward into the rear fuselage.
"We have the back to ourselves." Jesse said.
Claire looked forward and then smiled. Jesse had arranged their carry-on luggage to make a cushion on the floor of the fuselage.
Jesse looked forward and unhooked Claire's pants.
"It's time to join the 'Mile High Club'." Jesse said.
Claire slipped her pants off and took up a position on the makeshift bed.
Jesse went to work. She was going to need to work fast but she was well experienced. She knew what Claire liked and responded to as well.
They were both confident Jesse would deliver. She always did anyway.
Anna glanced back once and saw what Claire and Jesse were in the process of. She would make sure Derek didn't look in their direction if he decided to move away from the top turret.
Savannah glanced back at Anna. Anna nodded her head once and winked. She turned her attention back to the flight. Young Allison did an excellent job. She imagined Jesse was too. If it was a longer flight she would have Anna take her place and go back there herself. The more she thought about Jesse, the more she missed Young Jesse.
It made her wonder if Cameron would have used Young Jesse as bait to get her to go on the ship, if she would have. She really didn't know. Young Jesse would return to Los Angeles with the ship, even if she was on board. She could see her then. Young Jesse wasn't on the ship. She glanced over at Young Allison. She was definitely going to make sure she wasn't either.
Summer and Riley were in the nose for the final leg of the flight. They both thought it was a stunning view.
It made Riley think back to when she was Summer's age. The world was a mess. It was what she grew up in. She'd already been abused a few times too by her age. At least the Scavengers never got a hold of her.
Summer reached back and touched Riley's cheek.
"This is where we are now." Summer said. "Our future is in front of us. The past is behind us."
Riley smiled. The thoughts of the past quickly drifted from her mind.
Summer and her pointed things out to each other as they flew.
Riley could see Summer knew way more than she did about everything. She was very impressed.
A short time after they passed Travel Town, Dan mentioned they would pass to the south of the Hollywood Burbank Airport. They would be at Van Nuys Airport in about seven minutes.
Kyle reflected on his adventure over the last few days. It was definitely one of the best times he'd shared with Sarah, John and Jan. They were his family. It was really quite an adventure and Derek and Riley were there too. It really was all of his family.
He took a moment to reflect his family was still alive in the past, the present. He really never wanted any of them to know about the horrors of the future.
He patted his pocket and felt the few remaining blue pills Derek gave him. He hoped he didn't need to use them again and their sex life would be back to the 'normal' three times a week instead of seven or eight times a day. Maybe he would try for 'once a day' for a while. It wouldn't be bad either.
Sarah held her arm around Jan as they neared 'home'. It was a really wonderful time she was able to share with her family. They were really all her family now too, even the Terminators.
She was still a little sore from all the sexual activity. She hoped to keep it up but maybe once a day was good for now. She definitely wanted more than the three times a week they'd slipped to. She didn't think seven or eight times a day was the way to go forward. She was surprised Kyle could keep up with her.
She smiled thinking about it. It looked like he was going to 'slip' a few times but he'd soon turned into 'The Man Of Steel'. It caused her to overdo it some. She wasn't getting any younger but she was pleased all her lady parts functioned like they did when she was eighteen. She actually thought they'd functioned better on the trip. Maybe she knew what she was doing now. She certainly had enough experience over the years.
Her younger years had really been hit and miss with the males. It made her reminisce about her time with the females back then. Those were the good old days. She couldn't help but think about the fine selection of females around the Resistance base. She really didn't think to have a part time girlfriend would hurt anything. She would still let Kyle have as much as he wanted. She enjoyed sharing with him as well. She would really like to experience the best of both worlds.
She knew if she was given a choice for a girlfriend she would choose Claire. She didn't want to mess things up between Claire and Jesse. They seemed very content with each other. She wouldn't have a problem working a 'three way' with both of them. She also wouldn't mind a 'three way' with Vanna and Allison. She didn't know if she would be ready for a Metal girl. If the opportunity presented itself, she was at least going to try it one time. What could it hurt to try it? It seemed to work for everyone else.
Savannah handled the radio traffic. CamNet already set everything up. They were cleared for One Six Right at Van Nuys.
Young Allison was still pushing it hard as they flew into the Valley along the 101 freeway. She would cut to the north between Reseda and Balboa boulevards and then cut over to the east before the 118 freeway and turn south just after Hayvenhurst. She'd be lined up with with One Six Right.
Anna looked back over the crawlway. It sounded like Claire was almost there. Jesse was still working on her. She heard Claire 'make it' as they neared final approach.
Savannah wanted to make sure everyone was secure for the landing.
"Everyone needs to get strapped in." Savannah said.
Summer and Riley exited the nose. Derek dropped down and sat in the jump seat next to Riley. Anna made sure he didn't look back. Claire was still getting her pants on. Once it was accomplished, Anna sent Summer back to join Claire and Jesse. Summer made sure they were all strapped in.
Everyone was good for the landing.
Young Allison set it down smoothly and taxied towards the Resistance hanger.
Jan spotted what looked like a big dam. It was empty.
"How come there's no water in the dam?" Summer asked.
Sarah knew what the reason was.
"It's the Sepulveda Dam. It's a flood control basin." Sarah said. "During heavy rains, it slows down the flow of water in the river to prevent flooding."
Kyle never really thought of a 'cement river' before. It was what most of the LA River was.
"The whole LA River looks more like a flood control channel." Kyle said. "Nothing about it looks like a river. It is almost all concrete. I don't see how it could flood."
Sarah thought of some news reports she'd seen recently. All the work by the Army Corps of Engineers in the late thirties and early forties paid off.
"That's why there's no flooding." Sarah said. "You would think in places where it floods every other year they'd figure it out."
Kyle did wonder about it. Sometimes in the places which always made the news every year about flooding, why couldn't they figure it out? What was so hard about either lowering the river or raising the banks? Was it really so hard to figure out? Maybe the people in power weren't the ones whose homes were flooded. He was sure if they were, they would do something about it.
Then again, it seemed to be the way everything worked. Nobody cared about it until it happened to them. He was sure no one would listen about Skynet either. It made him think about what happened to Sarah and how they put her in the psychiatric ward for telling the truth. Sometimes he wondered if people deserved what they received. Speak the truth and get punished. Live the lie and get rewarded. He really didn't care for politicians.
Dan made his final approach into Van Nuys along the east side of the airport. He saw the Mitchell pass by on the runway as it landed. He set down by the Resistance hanger and let Kyle, Sarah and Jan off. He then took back off and returned the UH-1. They'd rented it yesterday to dump the cars in the ocean along with the Blackhawk. The helicopter rental agency was a little further south along the airport. It was still on the east side. He wouldn't need to cross the runways.
Steve was there to greet them. He ushered them up to the hangar as the Mitchell rounded the corner and headed for the Resistance hangar.
Young Allison taxied up and spun the Mitchell around so it could be backed into the hangar. She shut the engines off.
Steve went down and collected the luggage. Derek helped him.
Riley, Claire, Jesse and Summer joined them at the hangar. Anna, Steve and Derek joined them a minute later.
Savannah and Young Allison did a visual inspection of the B-25.
Derek and Kyle wanted to look around the Resistance hangar a little longer. They knew Jesse and Riley needed to get back. They didn't want to create a problem. They knew they could return again at any time. All they would need to do was ask Cameron.
Tom arrived with Dan a short time later.
The group was ready to return to the base.
Frank continued his narration as he drove the small bus back to Avalon.
John thought everything looked dryer on the way back than it did on the way out. Maybe it was because it was a little warmer outside. It was probably a matter of perception as opposed to reality.
Cameron wondered if Allison and Vanna wanted to try the zip line adventure or not. She decided not to ask them. The passengers from the ship were there now on tours. The same was true of the semi-submersible. There were lines of people waiting for each of them. She wanted to give them at least a brief look at Avalon. If they inquired about something specific, then she could elaborate further.
"Frank will let us off at the Casino and we will walk back through the town to our tender. I'll have Ally send one for us." Cameron said.
Vanna wondered how long it would take.
"Is it very far?" Vanna asked. "I mean, to walk through the town."
John looked back.
"It takes about ten minutes, maybe fifteen, if you walk slowly." John said. "It's really a small place."
The girls remembered how small everything looked from the air before they'd landed.
They were on a steep hill now headed down towards Avalon. They could see the massive cruise ship.
Vanna and Allison were clearly thrilled to look at it. It looked like a grand adventure to them. They'd never really done anything fancy together before.
In a short while, Frank pulled up to the Casino. The van pulled up behind them.
Ken got out of the van to walk in front of them and Frank followed them after he turned the small bus back over to the company they'd rented it from. It wasn't normally something they'd rent it out. There was an agreement made through their parent company and they were paid handsomely for the rental. Evidently CamNet made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
Lou would follow them in the van and would pick Ken and Frank up once the group was on the tender. They would then return to the Catalina airport and fly out in the Blackhawk later on. The van was a rental based out of the airport.
Samantha and Cammy received the 'heads up' from John Henry. In this case, it was a literal meaning.
Cammy stayed with it and sent Samantha to heaven one last time. She didn't know if it would be Samantha's last finish from another individual or not. She wanted to make it count. She did.
They shared a kiss and quickly dressed. Samantha made a final check on Precious and Cammy made the bed up. They both did a quick inspection of the room. Everything was perfect.
Samantha wondered when the next time she would get to share again would be. When it happened, it might not be what she expected. It was doubtful Cameron was done yet.
There were a lot of people on the small street as they passed through Avalon. There were a couple of thousand people off of the cruise ship and the local day travelers.
The multitude of people aimlessly moving back and forth was quite unsettling.
"It sure is crowded now." John said.
Cameron looked around at the mass of people. She didn't care for it. If they weren't in such a controlled environment, she would be a little more worried.
"It happens." Cameron said.
Cameron looked back at the group and everyone wore a hat of some type and sunglasses. Unless someone really looked, they wouldn't be able to see Cameron, Cam and Allison all almost looked identical. The same applied to Vanna and Hanna. Sheila's top would draw anyone's attention first. It would be followed by Holly's and Gail's massive breast size. They both made sure there was a lot of cleavage showing. The eyes never made it to anyone's faces.
Vanna and Allison didn't want to look in any of the shops on the way back to where their tender would arrive. They weren't going to get anything even if they liked it. Collecting possessions was something they tried to avoid.
The tender was on its way and should arrive right before they did.
Cameron saw it left off some more passengers at the Green Pier. It then headed over to where they would board. It looked like there were six tenders from the ship in service plus four contract vessels which were leased out. Most of the passengers would not start to return for another hour or two.
Gail would have liked to have gone back with Jesse. Hanna would have liked to have gone back with Claire. Cameron decided to keep them on board. She wasn't done with their chassis yet. She hoped to cycle through all of them at least one more time. She still didn't know which chassis she liked the best. She just knew she liked all of them better than her chassis.
When she scanned John as they shared, she could tell he liked all of them better too. His excitement level was up much higher than it was with her chassis. She didn't realize it was the circumstances which were the driving factor in what appeared to be his greater excitement.
The tender docked and they boarded it.
Cameron and John helped everyone on board. Jim carried Vanna and Allison's luggage. He tried to remain out of Cameron's sights. He was pleased Cam would be on board now.
Once they were all seated, the mooring lines were cast off. The tender headed back to the ship. They passed a few hundred feet behind the semi submersible on their way out of the harbor.
Sheila looked over where the mermaid would be but didn't spot her. She would like to have flashed her again.
Cameron knew Frank, Ken and Lou would return to the Blackhawk. They would remain there until the cruise ship left and was past the Channel Islands before they took off. They would return the Blackhawk and meet up with Dan in the van they'd used previously on the mainland. They would drive up the coast and parallel the cruise ship for its day at sea and be waiting in San Francisco the day after tomorrow.
CamNet reserved helicopters at several airports along their route. They could pick one up if they needed one. It wasn't anticipated.
Ally stayed on top of everything from the Control Center. Bob would meet the tender when it returned at the front dock area. It should be a smooth transition for the team to board.
With Cam on board, she would need to lay low and try to be in a different area. She knew Cameron and Cam would pass for twins and Allison as their 'older' sister. She was 'odd man out'. She felt that way a lot.
Riley was in a rush once they arrived back at the base to see Precious.
Samantha was dutifully waiting there with her.
Riley picked her up and gave her a hug.
"She may need to nurse soon." Samantha said. "Vanna nursed her before she left."
Riley was going to give it a try. If not, Jesse was good to go. She was sure it was how it would end up in no time.
Derek entered the room with their carry-on bags and greeted Precious.
Jesse went to her room to stow her things. Riley told her Precious was probably going to need her in a very short time. She was ready for some relief. Claire hadn't touched her all morning.
Claire and Summer returned to their rooms. Jan would come over after she put her things away.
Kyle and Sarah entered their room.
Sarah looked around. It was back to 'four walls'.
"This is it?" Sarah asked.
Kyle lived in places much worse.
"There's no place like home." Kyle said. "I do have to say the ship sure was nice."
Kyle wanted to talk with Sarah about going back into the past to live. He wasn't sure when the right time would be to bring it up. A taste of the life Cameron promised was very enticing to him. No one could understand the future unless they'd lived in it and were lucky enough to survive. The future he came from wasn't a place he would wish on anyone.
Savannah and Young Allison went to see John Henry to check out the operations. Anna and Cammy followed behind them.
John Henry noted they were coming and updated on everything. Cammy or Anna could plug in if they wanted to.
Young Allison and Savannah both touched John Henry on a cheek at the same time as they greeted him.
"Hi, John Henry." Young Allison said.
"Hello, John Henry." Savannah said.
They all exchanged pleasantries.
John Henry was unable to give them any new leads. He didn't know of the extensive 'off the books' operations CamNet currently conducted to take the heat off of Savannah and Young Allison.
Savannah and Young Allison left.
John Henry watched them go.
Anna and Cammy elected to stay and plug in so they could update on everything. It would also allow Young Allison and Savannah to spend some time together.
CamNet watched everything in the background. She was very pleased with her actions. She needed to make sure her clandestine operation didn't get away from her.
Earlier:
Allison and Vanna thought the tender bounced around a lot on its trip to the cruise ship. The water seemed rough to them.
Allison couldn't imagine trying to eat like this.
"Will the cruise ship be this bouncy?" Allison asked.
Sheila eyed Allison.
"It will only feel bouncy when you're in John's bed." Sheila said.
The Metal girls all giggled.
John felt a little uncomfortable. He thought he should answer Allison's question properly. He remembered the anti-seasick medicine Cameron gave him several times. If the cruise ship was like the tender they were on, he was sure he would need a lot more of it.
"No, it won't." John said. "The cruise ship is very stable and smooth. At least it has been so far. A lot of the time it's easy to forget you're out on the ocean even."
Sheila was going to comment, he'd forgotten about being on the ocean, because of all the motion, but decided not to. Cameron gave her a dirty look.
Vanna didn't want to get seasick.
"I hope it doesn't get rough." Vanna said. "I'd like for the sea to be smooth."
Cameron hoped it remained like it had been so far. They needed to go a long way against the current to reach San Francisco.
"Everything will be fine on the cruise ship." Cameron said.
"That's good to know." Vanna said. "This small boat is kind of rough."
Allison spotted Bob appear through a hatch on the side of the ship.
"I see Bob." Allison said.
It looked like Allison was about to wave at him.
"Don't wave." Cameron said.
John wanted to offer an explanation.
"We need to play it low key." John said. "Bob is part of the crew."
The tender docked on the small platform and Bob was there to oversee their return.
Cameron and John helped everyone off and they were the last off the tender.
Bob cleared them through the metal detectors without a hitch.
"I will show you to your suites." Jim said. "I need to get my uniform on."
Sheila liked the idea. She wanted to show off to Vanna and Allison in her maid's outfit.
"In that case, I do too." Sheila said. "I think you'll like mine better."
Jim led Allison and Vanna while he carried their carry-on bags.
Cameron and John followed them and led everyone else back up towards the private area. She was glad they were back on board and the two aircraft landed without incident and everyone was back at the base.
She was pleased to see John 'check out' Vanna and Allison from behind. She did too. It was a very pleasant view.
The female Fanatic stabbed the man again. This time, it was in the front. He instantly collapsed. She was pretty sure she'd hit his heart. She looked around to see if anyone else heard anything. It appeared she was still undetected. She dragged his body over to where Rodrigo's body was at.
She was aware of the incident at the other location she'd previously identified. The man she just killed was supposed to alert the others there about the impending action. It wouldn't happen right now. It would give her some more freedom to move around the building before an alert was finally raised. She wasn't sure at what point in time it would happen.
She really needed to get some better weapons. So far neither of the two men she'd killed carried any. She hoped to find some C-4 or a few satchel charges. She moved to the end of the storage racks and looked in the direction the other man had come from. She could still hear machinery operating in the distance. She wondered if they put together the sub-assemblies she'd viewed earlier into a finished product.
If it was what they actually were doing, it would present a new level of a threat. Some of the equipment might be active. She didn't want to run into an HK Track on patrol around the building somewhere. She knew one could normally hear the clanking sounds of the treads on concrete first.
There were a few doors along the way opposite from the dock area. The dock area was rather extensive. She wondered what the building was originally. There were spots for at least ten trucks to back up to the dock simultaneously in the internal dock area. It appeared there was also an external dock area. Nothing else seemed to be in use as far as any trucks went from her observation. There were a number of doors opposite the dock area. She moved to the closest one and tried it.
The door opened. It was a store room filled with what looked like junk. She closed it and moved on to the next one. It appeared to be the same as the previous one. So were the next three rooms after it.
She was much closer to the working machinery now. There was a restroom up ahead. She paused at the door and listened. She didn't hear anyone. She looked around and slipped inside. She really needed to go. She knew it was a gamble. If someone came in, they wouldn't expect to find a knife wielding SkyMaster follower inside. It would actually be easier for her to kill another one, and leave them in one of the stalls.
She finished up and flushed the toilet. She moved out and washed her hands off. She took some of the paper towels and made them wet. She washed her face off a little bit too. She'd been going pretty hard for the last couple of days. She still didn't know how long she'd been asleep for earlier. She'd really lost track of the time. She didn't want to use her phone unless she absolutely had to since the battery was low. She didn't have any way to charge it.
Only one of the men she killed earlier carried a phone. When he'd fallen to the ground, it had cracked the glass on it. It didn't function. There was no easy way to get the battery out of it. She didn't even know if it would fit in her phone if she could. She didn't have any tools either.
She paused at the bathroom door and listened. She could still hear the machinery working in the distance. It didn't sound like a group preparing for an assault. She thought they were still in the dark about what happened at the other location.
There was a hallway in the next section. There were doors down both sides of it. She didn't know if she should investigate it now or continue on to see what the machinery was doing. She figured it was where the majority of Grays would be located. It would give her an idea of how many opponents she currently faced. The best indication was there wasn't a Terminator present at the location. She knew it could always change. She doubted it would if there was an issue at the other location. The Terminator would be directed there to take care of business.
She'd just crossed over the opening to the hallway when she heard a door open somewhere down it. She heard two male voices speaking.
'Damn.' The female Fanatic thought.
She couldn't go back to the area she'd just come from. She also was glad she hadn't started down the hallway when whoever exited one of the rooms entered it. She hoped they would be unarmed, as the other men were. There was no guarantee.
The female Fanatic quickly looked for a place of concealment. She wanted to see what direction the men went when they exited the hallway. If they went back to the storage area, she would follow them and attempt to kill them. If they turned in her direction, they might discover her if her hiding place wasn't good enough.
CamNet's Terminators needed to make a choice. They could wait at the building for some type of counter attack to occur or they could withdraw and see how things played out. They still had drone support so a missile could be fired at any time from altitude.
They were informed there were several more drones on the way. They figured they would have plenty of missile support. They knew the truck was on the way back from the other location. As to the status of the female Fanatic, they didn't know what her situation or fate was. They were aware she'd proven very resilient in the past. They weren't going to count her out yet.
They didn't want to blow the building up yet if it was possible. They hoped to harvest some of the sub-assemblies which they'd found inside. It depended upon how the attack would be launched on the building. They knew there were two groups and there were at least six men. They didn't know what was in the back of either truck. There could be more machinery, more sub-assemblies, more Grays, or they could be empty.
They doubted the Grays would make a direct approach on the building. It was more than likely they would attempt to approach from several different directions since they'd suspected the building had been compromised.
They took the three phones from the terminated Grays and set them up to act as surveillance devices. CamNet would monitor what went on in the interior of the building. They would take the dead Grays and load them into one of the vehicles there. Neither vehicle was near their location yet.
They would drive to their vehicle and move it away from the area. They would dump the vehicle they currently drove behind another building somewhere. The terminated Grays would remain inside of it.
"It feels like we're running from a fight." The first Terminator said.
The second Terminator thought it was a matter of perspective.
"We know what's at this location." The second Terminator said. "We don't know what's at the other location."
CamNet assured them she could deal with the Grays once they returned to the location. There would be no further communications from any of the Gray's phones. They were cut off from the rest of the world currently.
A missile could be used against either truck at any time. It wasn't how CamNet wanted to play it out yet. The trucks had agreed upon a prearranged meeting point previously. She would wait to see how many men there actually were. If there were any men in the back of the trucks, they may get out to work out some type of a plan. If they did exit the vehicles and they were in a semi remote location, she planned to deal with them in a very special way. She would use a technique developed by Young Allison.
CamNet's Terminators left the area as they indicated they would. The rear door was up on the building and the gate was open. They hurried back to their vehicle. One of them got into it. Both of the vehicles drove away. They would watch the drone footage and see how things played out. If any of the men actually entered the building, the three phones currently used as surveillance devices would show what they were up to.
Guess We Did
Is it really possible
To get away from it all
Something inside of each of us
Needs to answer the call
Maybe it's about honor
It's more than just duty
Some will even claim
It's about getting some booty
It's the ultimate goal
Of almost ever male
They really don't care
Who they get to nail
Females see an opportunity
They want to receive a gift
Sometimes they don't care
If to the wrong side they drift
When it came to us
You said we ran and hid
When I look around now
I guess we did
Nobody
