The demon's keen eyes watched as the human ran, however, he was faster and the female ran straight into him.
"Kill me, I rather be dead then be one of you." Kagome states, as she prepared for death, saying her goodbyes to her beloved InuYasha in her mind. But she didn't realize that the demon, fumbled in his pocket of his ratty jeans for a penlight. Shining the thin beam of light in her eyes.
"You're human, and you're Kagome!" the voices states, as the demon grabbed her in a hug.
"Let me go! You're one of them!"
"Kagome, I am not a Soul, see look at my eyes!" the demon states as he forced the modern day priestess to look him in the eyes.
"Shippo?" Kagome states, as she gasped when she realized that fox demon's eyes didn't reflect the light as the other humans' eyes did while they were possessed by the Souls.
Sota looked up at the person, holding his sister. "who are you? If you're not one of them?"
Shippo looked at the young child, and just to be sure, he shined the light in the boy's eyes, and breathed a sigh of relief. As the kid, was still fully human. "I'm an old friend of Kagome's, we spent time together when I was kit."
Sota nods.
"How are you still you?" Kagome asks
"This isn't really a safe place, to have a reunion. Let's get out of here." the other demon replies, hidden in the shadows.
"Right, Sōten...take Kagome's brother, while I carry Kagome?" Shippo questions.
Kagome looked over and peered at a grown woman that resembled the young thunder demon. "How?"
"Strange thing about those souls, they ignore those who aren't human." Sōten replies as she stepped forward to get the man-child. Shippo knelt down and braced himself for Kagome's weight.
"This is so familiar except you rode in my hair or with Sango." Kagome states as she climbed onto Shippo's back.
The two demons set out, Sota finally feeling like he was on adventure but at a high price.
Kagome wondered how this came to be, was demons here all along? "Shippo, were you here all along?"
"I've been around the world, since I knew staying in Japan would cause rifts in the timeline. I wanted so much to come to you. But I knew I couldn't without risk to your destiny." Shippo answers. "When I first noticed that the creatures were invading, I knew I had to return to Japan in hopes at least saving someone from your family, I am sorry about your mother and grandfather."
Kagome didn't respond as she bent her head and shed a few tears.
Sota watched as the two demons ran up a mountain in the northern part of Japan. "Where are we going?"
"A hideout, where we can rest and talk." Sōten answers
