The quartet arrived at the makeshift camp.

"Suddenly, I feel right at home..." Kagome muttered as she seen the surroundings. It was just like a wolf-den.

"A few years ago, it was a wolf-den. However, they since moved on to richer parts of the world." Shippo explains as he went and got blankets, pillows. He went and found some rations, as well. He came back with the food. "Sorry it's not the best, but this is just a hideout." he gave the two the meal packs.

"How did you escape the invasion of the Souls?" Kagome questions

"I've been living on the outskirts of the human world. I've watch the news, of course..and I've been watching until the news started to change 'murder and mayhem to everything is sunshine and daisies, the weather looks rough but that's about it, Jim'. That kind of stuff makes me think something is really wrong." Shippo replies, "I stayed away from doctor's offices and social gatherings where humans and some demons go into the place or house and Hosts come out."

"So demons can be taken over by them as well." Kagome responds with a shudder.

Shippo nods, "Afraid so, there are a few demons strong enough to resist them but it's not easy, hell, Sesshomaru was even tried to be overtaken and the soul in question was eaten alive by that jackass' bloodstream. And he decided to round up any remaining humans in Japan. Which sadly isn't many."

"So what are we going to do?" Sota questions, as he looked at the demon, who was almost as cool as Inuyasha.

"We're going to transport you to the next depot and get you to a human resistance camp, passports aren't needed for because the world's ran by Souls, they check for humans instead of foreigners." Soten replies, "Shippo and I work Japan and hopefully find humans or a way to remove souls from the human bodies."

"what's are real destination, since it's unlikely that we're going to stay here?" Kagome questions

"America, there is a place in the desert, where I met someone, who is as loony as a human can get." Shippo answers.

Kagome wasn't sure, she had hoped that she would find Inuyasha or at least return to the past to be with him. This really sucks.

"What's wrong, Kagome-chan?" Shippo questions, peering at her with his vivid green eyes.

"I was hoping, i would return to the feudal era and be with Inuyasha. I guess, that's never going to happen as long as we're on the run and hiding." Kagome answers, as she set up her makeshift bed, and settled down for the night.

"Sleep in peace, my old friend. You are safe with me." Shippo replies, as he longed to be a kit again and curled up with Kagome.

Sota and Kagome slept in relative peace for the first time in a year. Shippo watch them, while Soten looked at the city in the far off view.

"Looks the same as ever, doesn't it?" Shippo questions as he looked up.

"Yes, you never know that those people down there aren't really human, their bodies are but the mind doesn't belong to to the body anymore." Soten replies, she shuddered at the thought. She had escaped from a Healing facility before they could perform an insertion and learn her secrets. She wasn't human, and she wasn't going to house a parasite for outer space. She took out a few seekers as well before running into Shippo and going into his line of work, aiding the remaining humans. Her hand tighten into a fist. Just at the memories. She wanted to destroy all of them, but she knew that she couldn't without possibly destroying all humanity and demons as well.

Shippo watched his oldest friend think about her life, he was afraid for her mental state. He didn't share the same experiences as Soten and he couldn't empathize, but he has sympathize with her.

"You should rest as well, Soten, we have a long way to go before the next depot." Shippo states, as he settled down. The female thunder demon turned and followed suit. "How did i ever manage these last few years without you?"

"Very well, my friend, very well indeed." Shippo chuckled before he fell into the rest like trance that he had perfected over the years.

The next morning, was more of the same, Shippo carrying Kagome, while Soten had charge of Sota.

"Shippo, would you think that my spiritual powers would make me a prime target for the Seekers?" Kagome questions, as she had ducked her head against the wind.

"Actually, you might be the only human that could purify the Souls from ever taking over you." Shippo replies

After a few days of traveling, and stealing food and supplies, which was stupid since the souls didn't give a flip. The two humans had what they needed to survive the trip to America.

"Shippo, i doubt i would be trusted i don't know English that well. Would you come with me just to vouch that i'm still human?" Kagome questions

"I don't know, i have to get in touch with the leader of this organization." Shippo responds.

"Just who is in charge of this strange transport?" Sota questions

"Sesshomaru, one of his brilliant world domination ideas." Shippo answers, with a dry laugh. A chiming sound interrupted their race to the nearest ocean port. They ducked inside the building.

Shippo pulled out a flip phone, "Yeah, what's up, dog." he listened for a few seconds "She's human, along with her brother, if you can believe that….if you don't believe me meet us as the place." he hung up. "Ungrateful dog."
