Kagome wondered just who Shippo was calling an ungrateful dog, she was beginning to sense she was out of her own world, now that everything has turned upside down. She didn't remember when she wasn't on the run from the Invasion of the body snatchers.
Shippo shook his head, replacing the phone in his pocket. "Good thing, Sesshomaru has his own satellite so that the insects won't track us by phone calls. I don't know why I kept that idiot alive for five hundred years?" The fox demon raised an eyebrow before he and the others continued on the journey.
Kagome watched as Shippo slowed down near the docks, her heart rate sped up as she seen so many souls uncrating boxes, bags, various other items. Kagome felt the vibrations of Shippo's growling as he darted into an alleyway, along with Sota following a step behind.
"Sōten, retain your position. You go after them, we might as well gift-wrap ourselves as hosts bodies." Shippo growls
Sōten starts as she turned glowing eyes toward Shippo, "You think I would stage a suicide mission? Have you been eating your own weeping mushrooms?"
Sota looked between the two when another shadow joined them.
"Good news for you, idiots." a familiar voice greets, turning attention to himself. Kagome stiffened at the voice; she didn't want to believe he survived all these years.
Shippo as a form of habit grabbed the penlight and shined it in the newcomer's face, no silver lining. "What's the word, are we reforming the band?"
"In a manner of speaking, you and Sōten have been reassigned thanks to myself and my icicle of a brother." Inuyasha greets, "We got to go before they find us."
The group set off again, Inuyasha leads the way and ever on the alert, if he wanted to take Kagome in his arms, he didn't risk it right now. He missed her through the centuries. 'Kagome was born for me, and I was born for her.' he remembers telling the Shikon Jewel as he rescued the girl from the future.
Inuyasha found the private airstrip. "Next stop, a private island where another plane awaits with a layover in between to refuel and sleep in peace."
The five various people entered the plane and were seated while Sōten went to the cockpit and started the plane's engines.
After a few hours, the plane landed and the group exited. Inuyasha watched Kagome, while she watched him, each afraid to go to the other.
"Come on, Sota, we'll get some soda and play some old movies that aren't ruined by souls!" Shippo states, as he grabbed the kid and Sōten followed. Sōten stripped off her armor, she went straight for the shower.
Inuyasha and Kagome continued to stare at each other.
"You're not the same Inuyasha, are you?" Kagome finally questions, unable to help herself.
"Just an older mature version, I've missed you, Kagome." Inuyasha states as he closed the distance between them. "You don't know how much I've worried about you when the Souls first began to invade earth, I thought for sure, I wouldn't be able to see you again."
"Oh, Inuyasha," Kagome whispers before leaning into Inuyasha's embrace. She started sobbing.
"Kagome, stop blubbering," Inuyasha complains softly.
"I'm not blubbering!" Kagome exclaims
"Fine crying!" Inuyasha exclaims
Kagome looked up, she smiled.
"I wouldn't if I were you, we're on a plane that we need to reach American soil." Inuyasha states
Kagome just turned and walked off, with Inuyasha following a second later. Once off the plane, Kagome muttered "Sit Boy." with the crashing sound to follow.
Shippo shook his head as he heard the sound. "That never changes." he refocused on the movie.
Kagome found her bag and got a fresh pair of clothing, she noticed it was several pairs of jeans and shirts.
"Sorry for not going all girly, but jeans are more sturdy." Shippo apologized
Inuyasha came in while Kagome was in the shower.
"So what's going on, Captain?" Shippo questions, looking at Inuyasha.
"Sesshomaru said we're to find one of the human resistant groups and help them survive. Stealing food, clothes, that stuff." Inuyasha answers, he sat down and rubbed his temple. "I never realized that after five hundred years, i would want these stupid beads off of me."
"So, he's sure that Japan's taken over by the parasites?" Sōten questions
"Yes, everyone is a host there." Inuyasha replies
Shippo shook his head sadly.
Sota fell asleep on the sofa, Inuyasha put in him one of the rooms.
"So know where is one of those resistance groups?" Sōten questions, sitting down.
"Arizona desert, I know where my old friend Jeb has his hiding place, if he's anything like I remember, he would have rounded up the humans that fled and are living in the caverns." Shippo replies, "We'll need water to cross the desert, even at our fastest pace, it's still able to bake us."
