Knock knock –

"Come in" I called knowing it would be Adam, we had landed in Tampa and checked in to the hotel before going to our separate rooms agreeing to meet once we were both showered and changed. It was early evening, many of Adams friends were already in the hotel bar and Adam had agreed to join them so I could meet them to. With that in mind and the thought of many beautiful WWE divas being there I spent extra time on how I looked, I knew I could never compare to these women, but I had to at least try.

"Hey…Wow you look great" He smiled. I had opted for a pair of grey high waisted skinny jeans, a green cropped t-shirt and a pair of knee-high black boots. I had curled the ends of my long brown hair and put some make up on my face, opting for a smokey dark green eyeshadow with a gold base and the winged eyeliner again. Isabelle had been showing me different techniques for both my hair and make-up since we had become good friends and, in this moment, I couldn't have been any more thankful. Adam grabbed my hand and spun me round to inspect me from every angle "The guys are going to love you"

"Don't be stupid" I brushed him off looking everywhere but at him, if only he knew the only guy's attention, I wanted was his.

"Shut up" He chuckled putting an arm around me pulling me in to a strong hug and planting a firm kiss on the top of my head.

The bar was quiet, the music was at a level, so you were able to have a conversation with the person next to you and there weren't too many others in apart from the group stood by the bar ordering drinks. Adam held my hand firmly and walked us over to them giving it a quick squeeze in reassurance as we approached. Each and every one of these people were beautiful, the girls were on another level of beauty, and I couldn't help but feel jealous knowing that this was the kind of girl Adam would be interested in and I would be working alongside if I took the job.

"Hey guys" He called over to them, one by one they all turned round to greet us "This is Jay…" He cleared his throat "Jayme" gesturing to me, he still hadn't let go of my hand and although awkward as a couple of the girls noticed I was secretly thankful for the reassurance from him. "Jay this is Randy Orton, Natalya Neidhart, Paige, John Cena, Jerry Lawler, Charlotte Flair and Mike Mizanin" He announced gesturing to each one in turn as I greeted them.

"Glad to finally meet you" Randy smiled "Adam hasn't shut up about you when we have spoken" He laughed.

"Gee thanks man" Adam retorted rolling his eyes, I couldn't help but notice he still hadn't let go of my hand giving it a quick squeeze every couple of minutes to reassure me I was doing ok, I would squeeze back every now and again in thanks, it was like we were having our very own private conversation without anyone noticing.

"Well it's so nice to see you again" A voice I recognised came from behind us, Adam quickly dropped my hand for the first time since our arrival, I knew as soon as he did this who it was.

"Babe what are you doing here?" He said as we all turned round and he scooped her into a hug which she didn't respond to, she looked straight over his shoulder staring me down.

"Oooo" I heard a groan from one of the guys who were now behind me "Not good" They whispered. I was rooted to my spot in shock.

"You didn't say you were bringing anyone?" She said gesturing over to me as if I wasn't in the room at all.

"Well actually…she's been offered a training contract for the new year, so I thought I'd show…"

"Great" Beth interrupted as she plastered a fake smile on her face and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek "Can you help me with my bags to our room?" She asked fluttering her eyelashes "I explained at reception and they said it would be fine".

"Actually…" Adam began.

"Jay will be fine with us" John reassured Adam placing his arm around my shoulder, Adam must have seen the look of horror on my face as I felt John's arm wrap around me because he looked straight to Randy with a deep sigh.

"If he makes so much as…" His face was dark and serious.

"I'll pile drive him in to the bar" Randy nodded rolling his eyes. Beth began taping her foot impatiently.

"2 minutes Jay" Adam smiled at me picking up Beth's bags before leaving the bar together.

"He's fucked" Mike stated earning a laugh from everyone.

"What's wrong?" I asked completely confused.

"Are you in a relationship Jay?" Mike asked, a small smile tugged at the corners of my lips and a feeling of relief washed over me, he hadn't told them anything.

"No" I shook my head.

"Well put it this way would you like it if your fiancée was cosied up with another woman?" He answered with a shrug.

"Fiancée?" I repeated, the word swirling around in my head so fast it made me dizzy.

"Oh…" He laughed out loud "This just gets better…he never told you he proposed a couple weeks ago?" A couple of weeks ago I thought, that would have been around the time he kissed me, I couldn't believe it, had he done it already before he was stood in my bedroom groping me and sleeping next to me? Or worse was it after all of that? My blood boiled in anger.

"Well obviously he didn't" Natalya stepped in "Leave it now Mike you've done enough damage" she seethed walking over to me "Are you ok?" She dipped her head to look at my face. I took one big breath and looked up at her.

"Of course, I am" I grinned "I just don't get why he didn't tell me?" I spoke.

"Men are ass hats that's why" She told me with an unimpressed look on her face "Look, me Paige and Charlotte were thinking of going to get some dinner, fancy it?" she asked "We can be gone before he comes back" I thought about my options for a moment before answering.

"Or not" Paige nodded as Adam and Beth both entered the bar again.

"Yes or no?" Natalya asked raising an eyebrow wanting an answer right that second.

"Y…Yes…" I stammered, I needed to get away and collect my thoughts for a moment before I see Adam again, I was sure if I saw him right now I'd breakdown.

"Come on" she said spinning me round "Girls let's get out of here" She gestured to the girls to follow as she steered us straight past Adam towards the door. I felt him stop dead in his tracks and watch in disbelief as we exited.

"JAY?" I heard him call but it was too late we were already out of the bar and across the hotel reception.

"Well that wasn't awkward" Paige laughed as we made it outside, I let out a small chuckle.

"So what's going on between you and Adam then?" Charlotte asked as we all sat sipping wine.

"Ermmm…I'm not sure what…" I began.

"Come on don't play dumb girl…he hadn't told you he's proposed to his girlfriend" she quipped. I took a large gulp of wine; she had a good point.

"We're friends…really that's all it is" I told her "I have no idea why he wouldn't tell me he'd proposed" I explained apart from the fact he keeps trying to stick his tongue down my throat I thought finishing my wine.

"Damn girl can drink" Paige laughed pouring me another glass. Over the next couple of hours, we sat chatting and drinking, the girls were so welcoming and lovely it gave me hope that if I took this job, I wouldn't have to rely on Adam to keep me company, I could go out and make friends on my own. My phone buzzed in my jacket pocket, I reached in to find Adams number on the screen, I excused myself before walking out to take the call.

"Hello?"

"Jay, I'm sorry Jerry told me what happened whilst I was gone I was going to tell you I promise I just didn't know when the right time was"

"Before sticking me on a plane to meet everyone would have been a great time" I replied angrily, tears pricking my eyes "You're an arsehole" I snapped.

"Yeah…Please can we just talk?" He asked "I'll come meet you" I reluctantly agreed to meet and entered the restaurant to excuse myself and pay my portion of the bill. The girls protested but I insisted I was feeling unwell and would rather go to bed, what I didn't bank on was Natalya following me out.

"I can see he's hurt you" she said as we stood on the front, it was cold, so I pulled my coat around myself.

"Don't be ridiculous" I laughed it off.

"Jayme, I've seen the way you look at him and more importantly the way he looks at you to…I've known him a long time and I've never seen that look from him before. Beth's a friend of mine and I don't want to see her heart get broken"

"Seriously Natalya…"

"Call me Nattie"

"Seriously Nattie" I sighed "We really are just friends, we met at a time that I really needed that so I guess I've become attached to him, maybe more than I should but that's it" I lied, that wasn't it, ever since we had kissed, I couldn't get him out of my head, it was like he had taken up permanent residence in there "He's my best friend"

"I believe you" She nodded before looking over my shoulder "still feeling unwell?" She asked gesturing behind me, I spun round coming face to face with Adam walking up to me. When I turned back to try and explain myself she had gone back in to the restaurant.

"What was that about?" He asked.

"You" I snipped "Ever since I had the bomb dropped on me that you're engaged now I've been grilled about what's going on" I growled hitting his chest in frustration.

"You didn't…" he panicked.

"No Adam your secret is safe" I laughed in disbelief that that's all he was concerned with "If that's why you wanted to meet to make sure I haven't ratted you out then you needn't worry I'm not spiteful like that" I said anger filling my body "But if you ever try anything like that again I'll make sure to speak to Beth myself" I warned him "I've been cheated on by the man I love and I would never wish that kind of pain on anyone I'd rather go through a thousand broken bones than that emotional torture again" The warning was clear he knew he was on dangerous ground "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"Let me take you back to the hotel and we can talk in private" He told me, I hesitantly agreed, and we began the short walk back. Arriving at my room door, I turned to face Adam before opening it in a bid to say goodnight without letting him in, the silence between us had given me time to think and stew on my anger and upset "We need to talk" He whispered grabbing the key card from my hand and pushing past me so as not to give me a choice in the matter.

"You've got 2 minutes" I told him taking my shoes off and throwing my bag on the bed.
