Tails' Workshop theme plays*
Sonic ran into Tails' workshop, a piping hot chili dog in his right hand, an armored briefcase that Tails made that contained the seven extremely powerful Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald in his left hand.
"Hey, Tails!" the loud voice of Sonic said.
"Hiya, Sonic!" Tails called back, in the guts of the Tornado's engine. "I assume the Chaos Emeralds are safe inside the briefcase I made?"
"Yeah! Safe and sound! I also tried the magnet that would attract the Chaos Emeralds. Worked like a charm!"
"Great!" Tails said, smiling. "Now, about that mountain that started rumbling on Earth... something is going on down there, yet I'm not sure what. Can you check it out?"
"Sure! I'll be back faster than you can say 'chili dog!'"
"Heh, I would assume so!"
However, Sonic would not come back before Tails could say "chili dog." What was expected to be a short excursion for Sonic was not to be, for Sonic had zipped to the teleporter, teleported to Earth, zipped to Mount Ebott, but as soon as he got there, he saw a human child, with golden skin, a blue sweater with two red stripes, blue pants, and black shoes, attempt to jump into the pit of the mountain. Sonic, trying to save the child... lost his balance... and fell, fell, fell... down into the bottom of the pit. Both he... and the child... lost consciousness.
