Will and the Word

Chapter Five

"I am sorry I did not mean to make you cry or to make you hurt." Harry said Looking down at his feet "I have gone and ruined a perfectly good meal. If you don't mind, I am going to take a walk." he was gone so fast that everyone had to do a double take. It was Beldaran though who pulled herself together "I will go with him I promise not to delve into this any further. I think Asrana should give him a few days.

"I am sorry bel" Asrana started only to silence by a gentle touch on the lips

"I don't blame you Asrana. I don't think he does either!" Beldaran said quietly looking her cousin dead in the eye "He needs time to heal; I can understand why Eriond brought him here now."

"Oh?" Polgara said "Why is that?"

Both Durnik and Belgarath smiled they knew what was coming next

"Aunt Pol, you who have guarded the Rivan line for millennia you raised my father and Eriond!" Beldaran declared "If you were Eriond and you knew a young person needed help who would you turn too?"

"Well, when you put it that way" Polgara frowned not having thought that way since the twins were born. "be careful then dear one because he has not come to terms with it yet."

Beldaran nodded before walking out the door seeing Harry off in the distance, she ran to catch up her soft boots quickly becoming soaked in the night time dew. The full moon hung in the sky lighting the Vale of Aldur in a way she had never seen. She caught up to Harry just as he had reached the tree.

Harry left the house he had not meant to hurt anyone but just giving the barest overview of his life he felt drawn to the center of the veil after 10 minutes of walking he crested a hill and saw the biggest tree he had ever seen in his life. He could feel it calling to him gentle, patient "wow" was all he said

"That sums it up!" A gentle voice said from behind him causing him to jump even though he recognized the voice. Turning he could see she still had tears

"Princess Beldaran. I am sorry. I did not set out to make you cry." Harry said not looking at her "I thought if I just gave it cold like that no one would have to deal with the emotional component."

"WE can talk about that later why did you come here?" She asked

"I felt pulled here when I crested the hill, I knew the tree was calling me. Showing me pictures of your family in relation to the tree. It's is like it is asking me to sit for a while and just enjoy its company."

"Would you like some company?" She asked hoping he would say yes

Harry then noticed how cool and wet the grass was "Lumos flotima" he incanted and a ball of light appeared in front of him showing Beldaran's shoes to be thoroughly soaked "Princess you could get sick."

"I am well aware but my patient is a little hard headed and went tramping off on his own" She said sarcasm apparent in her tone "Well now that we are here. What are we going to do?"

"Well first I will get us a couple of blankets from one of my trunks they have warming charms and are impervious to water so we will at least be comfortable." Harry said a smile forming on his face. "I do not want her highness to get sick on her first date."

Beldaran's brain stopped working when he said date 'is this a date? I don't know it certainly is romantic enough. Even more so then the Mimbrate romances her mother liked. "Well then my date will just have to keep me warm and safe."

That brought Harry's brain to screeching halt it had been a year and a half since she was taken. 'Luna said not use her as an excuse. Am I even ready to try? surely, she is joking. She' in low very quiet tone trying to keep a reign on his magic "if it pleases you to think of this as a date. I can think of nowhere else in the multiverse that I would rather be."

'is this how mother felt with her father?' "it does please me to think of this as a date Harry. So, let's lay out the blankets at the base of the tree. We can look at the night sky"

"As you wish" he said with a flourishing bow he proceeded to lay out the blanket helped Beldaran sit before taking spot next to her she could feel him tremors that wracked his body he was barely holding it together. Beldaran moved behind Harry wrapping her arms around him

"I know you are hurting right now Harry and I won't force you to talk about it but remember just because you are new to this world does not mean you are alone" She said shivering a little in the cool of the night causing harry to shift lifting his arm and pulling small princess closer to him. Leaning his head onto hers.

"Thank you" Harry said before getting a grin on his face "Princess."

"I prefer to be called Beldaran." She huffed as she snuggled into him enjoying his warmth.

"You do not like being royalty, do you?" Harry asked a yawn escaping as the warmth they were generating made him drowsy "I think you make a wonderful physician and princess I mean it's not like you cannot be both?"

"Well, I do want to be a physician as well. I am also a sorceress in my own right." Beldaran admitted "My mother and father won't say it but they are a little disappointed they had hoped I would have a normal life or as normal as it could be. Being the daughter of the overlord of the west is not normal."

"They care about you and want you to have the best life you can have." Harry murmured starting to doze off. We should probably get back. I am fairly sure your family will not be happy if they find us like this."

"Harry shut up I am comfortable we aren't doing anything other than sharing a blanket." Beldaran whined "Besides the tree is protecting us can you not feel it."

Harry gathered his magic and reached out and he felt the tree and how it was connected to the world. "Wow."

"Convinced?" she asked slipping deeper into Morpheus' realm feeling Harry nod "Good just relax and sleep we are fine here" they fell off into slumber unaware that four sets of eyes watched them in their sleep.

"They are good for one another." Polgara stated "Ce'nedra will be over the moon, Garion not so much."

"Well, he is the father of a teenage daughter and he is a king to boot" Belgarath said with a nod "However, I am not so sure that Belgarion could intimidate Harry even with his sword. Harry has obviously had his own adventures. The last thing we need is for them to come to blows.

"Ce'nedra will blunt his ire. From what I understand someone was trying to force a betrothal with Beldaran." Poledra said a frown ruining her normally perfect visage. "I think that he will come around though."

"Belgarion is a good man. He will see as I do harry is also a good man." Durnik stated "after he gives him the talk."

"Which talk would that be Durnik?" Polgara asked sweetly

"The shovel talk dear." Durnik said earnestly "The talk I am looking forward to giving Rhodar and Edrik in Tol Honeth next month."

"All the other boys at court will be devastated. These two probably do not even realize how close they have already become." Polgara continued "Hopefully we can avoid a repeat of the storm that was Garion and Ce'nedra."

The others chuckled

"They are well protected here, Aldur is in his tower he wishes to meet with the four of us in the morning" Belgarath informed the group "With any luck Belgarion and Ce'nedra will be here in less than a week."

With that the two couples returned to their residences.

As the couple slept through the night they moved in their sleep moving away from the edge of the blanket they had been laying on and ended up limbs entangled faces close together. Neither would be prepared for what was coming in the night.

Harry started moaning and thrashing again Beldaran held him and ran her hands through his hair. 'I wonder what he was dreaming about' as she snuggled against him Harry's eyes opened for a second Dark green meeting pale blue and they both were lost.

Beldaran was treated the nightmare that was Harry's life at the Dursleys. Every kick, punch burn and beating until the day Harry cleansed Hogwarts. She felt everything Harry felt. Every punishment, failure and success. The love he felt for his friends and the love he felt for his Luna. She could feel the agony in his soul when Voldemort animated his friend's corpses. She felt his wish to join his friends as she felt his life begin to fade. Then she sees herself through his eyes hears her voice though his ears

Harry saw life through Beldaran's eyes. Through her eyes she saw the world. She was a princess and a powerful sorceress learning from her family which spanned millennia he felt nothing but love he basked in it, not since Luna had he felt anything remotely like it. he sees himself through her eyes battered and bloody his skin burned with her touch as she fights to bring him back from the brink of death.

The following morning Polgara and Durnik walk down to the tree and find the two still sleeping Beldaran lay her head on his chest her arms holding him tightly and Harry's left arm was wrapped protectively around Beldaran. There was light golden glow emanating from the pair that kept Pol and Durnik at bay. It was then they felt another presence with them. Turned to see Aldur there with a gentle smile

"I sense your worry my children" Aldur said both nodding to their master "Rest easy they will wake when Eriond arrives with Belgarion and Ce'nedra. I will retire to my tower when they awaken, I will need to speak with Beldaran and Harry."

"It will be as you say Master" Durnik said wrapping an arm around Polgara leading her to deeper in the vale. Polgara looked back at the two young people asleep under the boughs of the tree "They will Be fine my love."
