Chapter 1439
I Hate To Eat And Run
Sheila heard what Cameron said. She was very pleased. She was close to a finish with Young Jesse. She didn't want to stop. She wanted Young Jesse to have a good experience and hopefully a wild finish. She was able to deliver both.
It took Young Jesse a short time to collect herself. It was one of her best finishes ever. It was different from the finishes she'd shared with John. The results were the same but the experience itself was different. Right now as far as females went, Sheila really came through. Sheila really 'worked' on her to make it happen.
She noticed Sheila had now one big smile from ear to ear. She wasn't really sure why. She hadn't even worked on Sheila yet. She was ready to.
"I don't think I gave you that giant smile." Young Jesse said.
Sheila gave her a kiss as she continued to fondle her lady parts. She'd heard what was discussed and what Camille said. She was aware Young Jesse wanted the same thing for her as Young Allison. Either way, it happened.
"You helped with a lot of it." Sheila said. "I'm going to go with Ally and make sure the girls from the ship get back home OK. Thank you."
Young Jesse could see how 'attached' Sheila was to them. She thought of some of the stories she'd heard. She'd never met Charlie, but she heard about him. He died helping protect John from an attack. There was Future Riley as well. She was partially responsible for what happened to her by not coming clean with John when she had the chance. She might have been able to have been protected if she had. She put her mission over her heart. Then again, John did the same thing. She really felt a reminder was necessary. She knew love could cloud a person's judgment in more ways than one.
"You need to use caution and restraint." Young Jesse said. "I've needed to turn down some fine females in Australia because of the lifestyle we need to lead. It's dangerous and deadly. Our exposure to others puts them in danger and can make them a target if something goes wrong or we get tracked somehow."
It was a little more than Sheila wanted to hear. She knew Young Jesse was right. She didn't want to be responsible for Mary, Laura or Leticia to be tied to a desk or bed and abused to death by Grays, Fanatics or some in the anti-Metal group.
"I'll be extra cautious." Sheila said. "Thank you for explaining. A little reminder every now and then matters. I would rather hear about it now, than after something bad happened. Sometimes it's nice to have help."
Sheila looked around for some clothes.
"I need to get dressed." Sheila said. "I hate to 'eat and run', but I need to make tracks."
They shared another long kiss and said they'd meet back up at the Resistance base at some point.
Sheila and Ally got dressed and armed. They made sure Jim would take care of their carry on luggage. Sheila put the two most modified maid's outfits in hers. It seemed they would have some 'mileage' left in them when she returned to the base.
Ally and Sheila went down to the VIP exit.
"I've been waiting for you." Bob said.
They both tried not to laugh.
"We're here." Ally said.
Bob informed them there was a rental SUV which was let off for them three minutes ago. He pointed out where it was outside the security perimeter.
"Now that's service." Sheila said.
Ally wanted to make sure Sheila showed the proper appreciation.
"You need to personally thank CamNet for all of this." Ally said.
Sheila looked at the security camera.
"I plan to." Sheila said. "If she lets me into her bunker, I'll really thank her as only one machine can do to another."
She finished off her statement with a wink.
"Oh, brother…." Ally said. "Give it a rest."
They exited the ship and went outside of the security perimeter. They headed for the SUV. There was someone there by it. It was a female with a rental car vest on.
Sheila approached her.
"Hello, love." Sheila said.
The female rental car employee looked at both of them. She focused her attention on Ally.
"Are you Peggy Sue?" The female asked.
Sheila stepped forward. She wanted to have a little fun.
"I'm Sue, she's Peggy." Sheila said.
The female focused her attention on Sheila.
"Nice." The female said.
It was unclear if it was a reference to the name, or the way she looked. It was probably both.
The female handed Sheila the keys.
Sheila handed the female a 'C note'.
The female thanked her and walked over to a sedan waiting nearby. There was another person in it. She got in and it drove away.
Ally thought about why they'd been provided with a vehicle.
"You know why CamNet did this, don't you?" Ally asked. "I mean got us a rental car."
Sheila looked at the giant parking lot full of vehicles. She'd planned to boost the first one which caught her fancy.
"CamNet didn't want any of the guests to have a 'bad experience' because their car was 'gone'." Sheila said. "I'd travel with this cruise line again. It shows a certain sense of style."
Ally frowned as they got in the SUV. She could see Sheila was back to her old cocky self. She was actually very pleased but didn't want to show it. She didn't like what she saw Sheila experience earlier. She could see she was genuinely in pain.
"Don't push it." Ally said.
CamNet came over their coms and said they were 'off the grid' and would deal exclusively with her.
They thank her for everything and were vectored to where Mary, Laura and Leticia were at.
Mary and Laura wanted to go home so Leticia could see which of her personal items were missing. She would make a quick list.
Leticia hoped it would make her encounter with Tracy a little less awkward. It was probably going to be a problem no matter how it went down. 'Sue' told her to be strong. She wanted to be strong like 'Sue' was. She hoped she wouldn't buckle if Tracy began to pressure her.
Cammy moved ahead rapidly. She wanted to find the easiest way out of the drainage system for Savannah.
There was another branch up ahead. She calculated they were a third of a mile away from the port facility. It was much further than she'd expected to be.
Dan hurried after her. He knew it's what Savannah would want him to do.
Cammy hoped she found something better than she had the last time. She looked back at Dan.
"Wait here." Cammy said.
Dan nodded.
Cammy turned up the new inlet. This one was almost as large as the main one was. There were smaller inlets along the way. She wasn't going to crawl up those. It's what she would need to do to check them. She doubted the two men would have done anything very complicated to enter the system.
She came to a divide in the tube. Now she wished she would have allowed Dan to come with her. She took the right branch and started up the gradual incline. There were numerous small inlet connectors along the way. She really didn't know why.
Cammy reached the end before everything split into four smaller pipes. She wasn't going to traverse them. There was a ladder and a manhole above her. She went up the ladder and was able to communicate with John Henry. He confirmed Savannah was on her way. She wasn't pleased with what seemed like impending danger.
She pushed the manhole cover up to take a look and there was a car headed right for her. She quickly let the metal cover fall back into place as the car drove over it. She wondered what would have happened if she would have lifted the manhole cover two seconds later. The car probably would have hit it and her. She didn't want to get out in the middle of the street with Savannah.
Cammy went back to the junction and went up the other branch. This one was bone dry. She moved quickly through the passageway. This time there was a curb opening on each side of the street when it split. The first branch she went up was constructed with a small chamber behind the curb opening. She lifted the manhole cover and looked out. It was a dead end street. She went back down and checked the other side. There was a circular piece of one inch CDX plywood in place of the heavy metal manhole cover. It was painted to look like the Metal cover across the street.
She realized it was the 'escape' route from the port facility the Grays used. It was how they were able to tell the homeless men to enter and get to where they were able to go. She was in contact with John Henry again and made a report.
Cammy hurried back down to the main passageway and collected Dan.
"Let's go get Savannah." Cammy said. "I found the way out."
Dan looked at where Cammy came out of. He thought it would make more sense to make sure the way out remained open.
"Do you want me to remain here?" Dan asked.
Cammy looked around in the darkness. She didn't detect any threats.
"No. You can go back with me." Cammy said. "You can also explore further down the passageway as well if you want to. I don't want any surprises for Savannah."
Dan wasn't sure what else they would need to see down further. There could always be something else. Maybe he should check. He didn't want any surprises either.
"I'll check it out." Dan said. "You should meet Savannah and be back here in sixteen minutes. I'll return back here within the same time frame."
Cammy wondered about what if he didn't.
"What happens if you aren't here?" Cammy asked.
Dan's answer was easy. He simply stated the obvious.
"It means I've uncovered an additional problem for the team, or have been taken down and most likely terminated." Dan said.
It gave Cammy something to think about. She told him to use caution and started back up the passageway to link up with Savannah and Frank.
The three girls were headed to Mary and Laura's place. They'd been able to get a ride share vehicle fairly quickly. It appeared people who worked for the various companies would hover around the port area in anticipation of picking up a group of passengers. Most of the people drove an SUV or a van so they had plenty of room for luggage. Some of the people just drove their regular vehicles.
They talked about the cruise and some of the highlights they'd experienced along the way. The biggest one seemed to be their encounter and association with the mysterious group. They spoke in hushed tones so the driver wouldn't be able to hear too much.
The three girls arrived at Mary and Laura's place.
Leticia was ready to go by her old place and get the rest of her things and her car.
Laura was a little concerned about Leticia's well being. She'd heard a few stories about the way her previous 'Master' treated her. She really didn't want her to go alone.
"I can go in with you when I drive you there." Laura said.
Mary looked out the kitchen window. She spotted something right away. She glanced over at Leticia.
"What kind of a car did you say you drove?" Mary asked.
Leticia told her again. She'd already told her on the ride home.
"Is it blue?" Mary asked.
Leticia wasn't sure what was happening.
"Yes." Leticia said.
Mary looked away from the kitchen window and back at Laura and Leticia.
"I think it's parked on the side street right here." Mary said.
Leticia and Laura came over to look.
"That's my car!" Leticia said. "Sue told me everything was taken care of. I didn't know it meant my car too."
Mary was a little concerned about some of the 'arrangements'. 'Sue' did tell her everything was under control.
"It was a surprise to find all of your things arranged in our spare room." Mary said. "I'm not sure I like the idea strangers were in my house with the alarm on, and it was still on, when we got back."
Leticia looked around. It was a little eerie for her. The placement of the window and the closet door were different, but everything in the room was identical to the way she'd left it. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought she'd entered her room at Tracy's place.
"Everything in my new room is exactly how it was at my old place." Leticia said. "Even some things I needed to put away are in the same exact spot I left them."
Mary came up with a lot of questions which weren't going to get answered.
"There's something very mysterious and powerful about the group from the ship." Mary said. "At least they were honest enough to tell us there were things they couldn't talk about or discuss. To do everything they've done so far indicates there is an organization associated with them. We never even did find out where their suites were at on the ship. They just told us they couldn't talk about it either."
Laura nodded. She could tell sometimes when the answers weren't quite forthcoming.
"I could tell they didn't want to lie more than they 'needed' to." Laura said. "They wanted to be honest with us as much as they could."
Leticia thought of 'Sue'. She was forceful, powerful, mysterious and dangerous. She believed she'd hurt and killed more than a few people.
"Maybe they're 'secret agents'." Leticia said. "It's what I believe. I can tell."
Mary frowned.
"They were secret alright." Mary said. "They asked us not to worry about it or discuss them if we liked to remain 'debt free'."
All three girls all double checked on the ride home. Their car loans were paid, their student debt was paid, their credit cards were all paid and their bank accounts were handsomely loaded.
Leticia was very pleased with the turn of events in her life. She knew it was all because of one individual. It was the individual who'd captured her heart. It wasn't just her heart. She'd captured her soul. She'd captured her very being.
"Sue did it for us." Leticia said. "She gave me the nicest gifts anyone ever has with no strings attached."
None of them were surprised to find three elegant dresses with matching shoes and jewelry hanging in each of their closets. They weren't even sure how it was possible. They'd gone directly there from the ship.
Laura knew there weren't any free rides in life. She'd expected to 'pay' the toll. The toll never came. There was no fare collected.
"I thought we would need to be with Tony." Laura said. "I was up for it and offered several times."
Leticia was still disappointed. She'd really wanted to be with Tony.
"I offered a lot." Leticia said. "Sue always told me her gifts came without strings or obligations. I think she made a point of not allowing more to happen to show her gifts were just gifts. It seemed very important to her. I believe it spoke of her character and integrity."
Leticia believed those were all qualities a 'secret agent' needed to possess in order to do their type of work.
Mary and Laura were going to do the wash while Leticia went out.
Leticia was pleased to see her car now had a full tank of gas and started right away. She didn't know it was fully serviced and was now equipped with a new battery.
She headed toward her old place. She hoped there wasn't going to be a problem with Tracy. Sue was really going to kill her before. She could tell. She was also going to mutilate the 'Crazy Bitch'. She actually would have liked to have seen it…. She didn't like how the 'Crazy Bitch' tried to scar her. She touched her cheek where the knife would have slashed her open to the bone. 'Sue' saved her and saved her beauty. She owed 'Sue' everything. She really would've liked to have watched 'Sue' 'punish' the 'Crazy Bitch'.
Young Allison planned to try and take out the sniper before Savannah's team exited the drainage system and tried to do it themselves from the backside of the buildings on the ground.
She also kept track of the blue car with the man who seemed to be in charge in it.
John Henry came up with and urgent update.
"Allison, I have a van moving suspiciously." John Henry said. "It's been recommended I have a drone take it out with a missile."
Young Allison wondered what it was about.
"Where's it and why's it a target?" Young Allison asked.
John Henry filled her in.
Anna was all over it as well. How did they all miss it? Things needed to have been staged around the area already for them to happen so quickly.
None of them knew about any of CamNet's earlier off the books operations. Some of the events occurring now were most likely related, even if indirectly. There'd been a lot of behind the scenes operations with multiple tentacles in every direction.
Seconds ago:
Jan left the Command Center to make her appointment with Claire.
It left John Henry and Summer alone in the Command Center.
Summer looked at all her screens. She thanked CamNet for 'releasing' Sheila and Ally earlier.
She was glad some communication was worked out with Cammy and Dan for Savannah and Frank to hook up and get out.
There was an image she focused on and followed through some traffic cams and drone footage.
"The white van is a target." Summer said.
John Henry looked at his screens. He was aware they'd encountered white vans before on several operations.
"Which one is, there are several?" John Henry asked.
Summer pointed at his screen.
"The one on the right side is." Summer said.
John Henry quickly reviewed the behavior of the van. It seemed to purposely avoid going near the port facility to get to where it was now.
The van drove up the dead end street where Cammy looked out of the wooden manhole cover a few minutes ago. Four men piled out of the van and entered the drainage system. They knew exactly what they were doing. The van started to back away when it was hit with gravity minigun fire. Sparks flew in all directions on the pavement and the metal of the van. The van continued rearward in a lazy arc and bumped backwards up against a telephone pole. It stopped. There was no movement in or around it.
John Henry looked over at Summer. He could see she looked very displeased.
"You should have used a missile when I told you." Summer said. "Now there are four Grays in the drainage system. Savannah is using a light to see. They all carried night vision equipment."
John Henry knew it was true. Young Allison is the one who'd acted.
"I didn't do anything fast enough. I should've listened." John Henry said.
John Henry worried Savannah was about to become a target with the light she would need to carry to see.
As soon as Young Allison saw the van, she'd asked CamNet to target it with 'metal hail' minigun fire. It needed to be a gravity shot since the drones were all at fifty thousand feet. She hoped to have the van hit before anyone got out. The time lag was too great.
"Damn it!" Young Allison said. "I should've let Summer use the missile."
Anna sent out the warning to the team in the drainage system. It went unanswered. They didn't know the enemy was in the drainage system with them now.
CamNet was worried as well about the unfolding operation. She was sure it was a spillover from the operations she'd been conducting off the books. She'd attempted to deal with a number of things on her own rather than involve the Resistance directly. She'd wanted to give Savannah a break. It looked like Savannah was going to be right in the middle of it again.
It appeared the activity with the Syndicate and the men in the white van triggered more than a few responses. She'd blocked all of the communications with the men with the white van since they were first detected. It appeared they were able to get a message out without her knowledge. She wasn't sure exactly where or when it occurred.
Cameron spent the last hour with John.
John noted when she 'started him up' she'd used some extra vigor.
They shared with each other for almost an hour. Everything was done slow and sweet in the most loving manner. They really wanted to share with each other and it's what they did.
Cameron thanked John for allowing her to be 'someone different'. She also thanked him for allowing the 'human touch' for himself she'd long requested.
John wanted to thank Cameron for everything she did and allowed.
They wrapped it all up much the same way as it all first started.
"I love you, John, and you love me." Cameron said.
"I love you, Cameron, and you love me." John said.
They were both very pleased with everything that happened.
Earlier:
Steve and Tom, along with Al and Ed, were recalled to assist with the developing port operation.
They linked up with Richard and Michael. Only Larry and Hank were left in the vicinity of the collapsed bunker. No one showed up since the 'collapse'. No one snooped around the actual locations. CamNet and John Henry deflected all the real information.
Steve arrived at the port with a small box truck. Tom was with him as well in their SUV.
They'd already loaded all the 'cargo'. It was all the electronics and weapons which were in the Control Center on the ship. The box truck was soon ready to depart. Tom turned his SUV over to Ed and rode with Steve in the box truck. Al and Ed would be able to ferry the group to the Blackhawk with the two SUVs.
Michael and Richard were directed to check out the van which was hit with gravity minigun fire. They would then enter the drainage system.
Earlier:
It was a similar scene in the other suites. The girls finished up with their Metal lovers and then with each other.
The Metal girls all joined Jim, Gail and Hanna to get the rooms in order.
They were soon all ready to head out. Most of the passengers disembarked already. The new group of passengers began to arrive at the terminal and started the check in process. They needed the ship to be 'cleared' before things could get started with the new group to actually board.
Cameron went down with John, Young Jesse, Vanna and Allison to disembark.
"I've been waiting for you." Bob said.
John looked at Cameron but didn't comment. He liked when Bob always made the same statement.
They exited the ship.
Al and Ed were there to receive them. Al loaded the first group onto his SUV for the five minute ride to the Blackhawk. He would come back to help Ed with the rest.
Jim and the Metal girls remade the rooms and got everything in order. They would follow the others down in a few minutes.
Cameron was updated on everything as they made the short hop to the Blackhawk. She helped John and the girls get on board. She was going to commandeer Al's SUV so she could drive to the port facility herself. Much to her surprise, Al drove away before she could.
Young Allison was worried about the four men who entered the drainage system. She also knew there were three Terminators down there with Savannah.
They were out of communication with all of them.
She also disapproved of Cameron being more fully updated once she was off the ship. It should've waited until she was back at the base.
Young Allison told Al to drive away as soon as the team was clear.
Anna understood Young Allison's actions. She doubted Cameron would.
"What you just did won't go over well with Cameron." Anna said.
Young Allison was ready to own up and defend her actions. She didn't want to make things any more uneasy than necessary.
"I don't want to order her to get on the copter, but I will if I need to." Young Allison said. "Let me speak with her."
Young Allison wanted to make sure Cameron was still on vacation until they were back at the base. She needed to think about John and the girls too.
Jim led the Metal girls down to the VIP exit.
Bob was pleased to see them arrive.
"I've been waiting for you." Bob said.
He ushered them off of the ship and followed them down.
Jim was a little surprised when he joined them.
"You're getting off too?" Jim asked.
Bob was ready to go. CamNet told him he had a new assignment.
"Yes." Bob said. "My work here is done."
CamNet erased all traces of any of the group from every system of the ship. There was no record of anyone, including Bob, ever having been on the ship.
Al returned. Bob made sure Camille, Cam, Holly, Hanna and Gail got in the SUV.
Jim and Bob were given new instructions by CamNet
They were to go with Ed. Tom rejoined them as well.
Bob walked over to Al.
"Get to the chopper." Bob said.
Al took off with the Metal girls and headed for the Blackhawk.
Bob was still in his white uniform.
Tom gave him an extra shirt. He now only wore the white pants.
"Let's go." Bob said.
Ed took off for the port facility.
John Henry warned them to approach with caution and hold where directed. They searched for any targets and hoped none of them became one.
Al arrived at the Blackhawk a few minutes later.
Cameron got out of the helicopter to greet them.
Ken already powered up the turbines a few minutes after Al left the first time.
The Metal girls boarded the helicopter.
Cameron approached the SUV with Al.
"Bring Savannah home to me." Cameron said.
She turned around and got back on the Blackhawk.
It lifted off a few seconds later.
Al was already on his way to where CamNet directed him.
The 'Hotel Manager' of the ship went up to the private area. He was given clearance by the captain to do so. The Captain was given clearance by CamNet as the 'Corporate Office'.
There were two stewards and two maids with him. One of the stewards opened the door to the private area. They went into each of the three giant suites. They expected to find a mess with complete chaos. It wasn't what they found.
"Are you sure anyone used these suites?" One maid asked.
The maids and stewards were the ones normally assigned to the job.
"Everything is perfect." One steward said.
The Hotel Manager was a little confused.
"I was told to have everyone stay away from this section for a week." The Hotel Manager said. "It included me."
Everything was double checked and found to be in perfect order.
"Maybe the owner's daughter and her group didn't actually come." The second steward said.
The Hotel Manager wasn't sure what to think. He'd never been subjected to such restrictions before.
"I really don't know." The Hotel Manager said. "All the information was 'blocked' on our computers and now there is no trace of any of it."
They also checked the first five suites outside the private area and found everything perfect in them.
They cleared the ship for the new group to board.
Cammy hurried back the way she'd come to meet up with Savannah and Frank. She spotted the light in the distance, it back lit Frank. It went out a second later.
Savannah and Frank were gone.
"Yellow." Cammy whispered.
Frank followed protocol.
"Hornet." Frank whispered.
Cammy moved closer to where she'd last spotted them.
They were in the branch where Dan went up before.
Cammy gave Savannah a hug in the darkness.
"I've got a good way out for you." Cammy said.
Savannah started out behind Frank again.
"Turn on your light so you can see." Cammy said. "It's a clear path."
Savannah did.
Dan was further down the tunnel. He was just about to turn back when he heard the sound of running footsteps coming towards him. Someone was in a hurry.
He drew his silenced M9.
He was sure it was going to be some kind of trouble.
There shouldn't be anyone in the tunnel. There was no light coming so it meant night vision equipment or Terminators. He drew his Taser too. He wasn't sure what the threat he was about to face actually was.
Frank started out again. There was gunfire in the tunnel ahead. A bullet slammed into the concrete wall not far from Savannah and ricocheted into the unknown.
Savannah quickly doused her light and Cammy all but carried her to the junction she'd went up before with the dead body and the rats.
Cammy and Frank were both in front of Savannah now.
"Stay here." Cammy whispered. "Don't go out the way behind you unless it is absolutely necessary. Frank will need to lead."
Cammy moved out into the tunnel along the side wall. She held her Taser in her left hand and her silenced M9 in her right hand as she moved forward.
She neared the junction where she'd gone up before.
"Brown."
Cammy froze.
'What the hell?' Cammy wondered.
"Starfish." Cammy said.
A figure moved forward.
"Long time no see, love." Sheila said.
Cammy needed to process things.
"Sheila?" Cammy asked.
Sheila tried to make a joke about it.
"I'm one of a kind, sort of." Sheila said. "Ally and Dan are ahead."
Cammy wanted to know what happened.
"What was the shooting?" Cammy asked.
Sheila didn't know all the details, but she knew enough.
"It was four blokes who picked the wrong day to be a Gray." Sheila said.
Sheila quickly filled Cammy in. They went back to get Frank and Savannah.
One minute ago:
Dan heard running in the tunnel in front of him. He heard some hushed tones only another Terminator could hear.
"Don't make so much noise, stupid."
"You're making more noise than I am. You're stupider too."
Dan was familiar with the voices. He followed protocol anyway.
"Navy Blue." Dan said.
Sheila was surprised to find one of the Resistance Terminators already.
"Kangaroo." Sheila said. "It's Dan."
Dan saw it was Ally and Sheila.
Ally could see Dan was all alone. He shouldn't be.
"Where are the others?" Ally asked.
Dan said he only left Cammy a few minutes ago.
Ally told him some Grays entered the system behind Cammy.
The three of them ran back the way Dan came from.
They neared the junction where Cammy went. In less than ten seconds, the four Grays came out of the junction at a fast walk.
"I'm telling you something happened to the van." The first Gray said. "I heard a bunch of noise."
"Shut up and keep moving." The second Gray said. "We have someone trapped inside the building. They're never going to see us coming."
The three Resistance Terminators were ready for action.
"It's the way we like it too." Sheila said. "The dead never see it coming."
Sheila, Ally and Dan opened fire on the men. They were all hit and went down. One Gray managed to squeeze the trigger on his weapon and shot the two men in front of him. One shot went wild.
"Check these wankers." Sheila said. "I'll get the others."
A short while later:
Sheila led the group back to where Ally and Dan were.
"We got everything useful." Dan said. "What about the bodies?"
"Sheila, stay here with Savannah." Cammy said. "You three, I want you to all grab a stiff."
The four Terminators all drug one body to the branch where Cammy encountered the rats.
"Shove them up the pipe as far as you can." Cammy said.
They left the four Grays for the rats. The squeaking noise grew in volume as they departed. The rats were pleased with the prospect of a fresh warm meal.
They were surprised to see Richard and Michael with Sheila and Savannah. It was apparent more help arrived.
It was decided Dan and Frank would accompany Richard and Michael out and deal with the van and dead driver. Cammy and Savannah would go with Sheila and Ally.
Savannah thanked the four male Terminators for their assistance. She gave them all a touch on the cheek as she did.
Sheila and Ally gave Cammy the story of how they ended up there when they did. They'd followed CamNet's directions.
Savannah was a little intrigued by their original mission once they'd left the ship. It was currently aborted.
"What about the girl you were going to help?" Savannah asked.
Sheila knew it was always duty before booty. She decided to moderate her response somewhat.
"It's business before pleasure, love." Sheila said. "You know it better than anyone."
They took the next branch and exited out onto the street.
Dan and Frank already sent the all clear to John Henry.
Ken and Lou flew Blackhawk under the green suspension bridge and headed toward the port facility. They would overfly it off to the side. They wanted to give it a 'once over'.
Cameron alerted the Metal girls to look for anyone in the buildings to the west of the port facility. They were at a low altitude so all the Metal girls could look in at a slight downward angle.
Ed drove with Bob, Jim and Tom toward the backside of the building on the west side of the port facility.
Al arrived where Sheila and Ally were parked.
Savannah thanked Sheila and Ally and told them to carry out their original mission. She felt it was important they follow up on what they'd started. She believed there were a sufficient number of Terminators and drones on station, even if they were at altitude to continue their current mission.
Cammy and Savannah went with Al. They headed out towards the backside of the buildings on the west side of the port facility.
Michael, Richard, Dan and Frank would join them shortly. They moved the disabled van next to the curb and took the other body down to the rats.
Savannah and Cammy now were backed up with a good force of Terminators to work with.
The Metal girls in the Blackhawk all asked to be let off so they could assist too. Cameron told them it was covered. They needed to stand down like she did. The cargo in the helicopter was just as important. If they were targeted somehow and the helicopter needed to set down, she wanted all the help the Metal girls could offer if they needed to battle it out on the ground somewhere.
Cameron was proud how they all wanted to assist Savannah.
The Metal girls were all given specific areas to watch as the helicopter passed the port facility.
"I see someone." Gail said. "They're in the third building, third floor at the fourth window from the south."
Holly finished her sector and looked over where Gail indicated.
"I see them too." Holly said.
Cameron looked for a second person too as did Hanna and Camille.
Only one individual was spotted. The information was relayed to John Henry.
They would fly up the 110 freeway and cut over to the 101 freeway in downtown LA. They would fly in front of the 'Hollywood sign' on the way back.
John Henry worked with CamNet and Anna to figure out the next move.
Summer felt there were a number of loose ends still around the port area.
"What about whoever is supposed to booby trap the van?" Summer asked. "It should happen soon."
John Henry felt they currently possessed adequate resources in the vicinity.
"There are twelve drones over the area." John Henry said. "We're watching everything. It was a good call you made about the van too."
Summer was tipped off by their driving habits. She also reevaluated her earlier request to use a missile. She understood the circumstances were a little different in the city than they were on the remote roads late last night and earlier this morning.
"I could tell by the way they drove." Summer said. "I understand why you didn't use the missile in the daytime on a city street."
John Henry knew John always worried about collateral damage. He also understood the danger Savannah could have faced under different circumstances.
"It could get messy." John Henry said. "I should have acted sooner anyway. Young Alison didn't hesitate to use an alternate method."
Summer didn't want him to worry about it.
"Everything worked out fine." Summer said.
Summer watched around their van. It was now a target along with the man in the blue car. She was a little concerned about what they'd uncovered so far. She didn't think they were all directly connected. She wasn't sure exactly what the trigger was either. It could have been the presence of their van and its 'drive bys' around the location. It could have been the fact there was an enemy team near the location When four of the Resistance members were inside of the building. They were never observed leaving the compound. Whoever was watching them would assume they were still inside. It seemed like a very fast response to her. She wondered if some of the things were already in motion before they'd arrived. She wasn't sure why they would be. There must be something else which was going to happen there.
She was unaware CamNet's off the books operations were actually the catalyst of the events set into motion. The seeds of them emanated from late last night and early this morning. There were three groups who all felt they had unfinished business with each other. The only common location they all knew where they could encounter the enemy was the port facility. They'd already experienced encounters at several other locations previously.
Young Allison was very displeased about the events so far.
"I want to send one team over to try and put the grab on the man in the blue car." Young Allison said.
Anna felt some caution was in order.
"As far as we know he could be the one to booby trap our van." Anna said. "It means he has a bomb with him if he is."
Young Allison didn't like the additional threat Anna just pointed out. It made her dislike the man in the blue car even more.
The female Fanatic and Jill headed down the left branch. They really hope it wasn't a dead end. There was no way for them to know what was in front of them.
They'd traveled for some time. They needed to move very carefully because of the amount of debris on the ground in front of them.
In the light of the phone, they could start to see dust in the air. It wasn't a little like it was before, it was a lot.
"I think there's another cave in." The female Fanatic said. "I think it's what all the dust is from."
Jill was a little concerned as well.
"Do you mean just recently?" Jill asked.
The female Fanatic remembered the vibration she'd felt earlier.
"I think so." The female Fanatic said. "I thought it was because of what was happening above us. Maybe it wasn't. It could have been what happened in front of us."
Jill thought there must have been some type of trigger.
"Something must have caused it after all of these years." Jill said.
The female Fanatic wondered if it was because of what she'd done in the back of the big rig she'd been in. Maybe they'd unloaded the two HK Tracks. If they did, they were programmed to attack everything human. She'd programmed them to go on a hunting spree a short time after they were unloaded. She'd stood before the camera on each of them to exclude herself when she reprogrammed them. It would only be through visual recognition. She didn't have a transponder. With the way they'd been programmed, the transponder wouldn't matter. She wanted to give Jill a better explanation.
"What looked like machinery in the front of the truck I was in, was actually two HK Tracks. I reprogrammed them to attack once they were moved out of the truck." The female Fanatic said. "There may have been a battle up above us."
The dust was much thicker as they moved along. There was more debris on the floor. They soon came to a hard blockage. The passageway was blocked completely. The rocks and dirt sloped down at an angle. There were pieces of broken timber sticking out amongst them.
Jill could see they wouldn't be able to go further.
"We need to go back." Jill said. "I don't want to get trapped between two cave ins."
The female Fanatic was in total agreement.
"Let's move." The female Fanatic said.
The female Fanatic and Jill started back the way they'd come. There was still one more unexplored option for them back at the cavern they'd been in previously.
Earlier:
One of the men inside the mine thought he heard something. He finally got up to take a look. When he did, it sounded like some of the HK equipment moving around further in the mine. He thought there was only one HK Track on patrol. It was supposed to turn on for an hour and take a look around. There were four of them set up to take turns.
The noise soon subsided and he went back and lay down.
Later on:
It was decided the men would unload the trucks. They started with the truck farthest inside. They all contained two HK Tracks and a number of crates. They were unloaded within several hours time.
The three men who drove the trucks in weren't sure where they should go next. They couldn't reach anyone as to what their next destination should be. They decided to hang around a while longer and help the other men get everything secured inside the mine.
The last two HK Tracks hadn't been moved to their final destination yet after they'd been unloaded. Both of them powered up within seconds of each other. They rotated around and faced towards each other.
The men around the area were surprised.
"Hey, what's going on?" The first man asked. "Who turned those things on?"
None of the men had been near them.
"They just turned on." The second man said.
One of the truck drivers was a little concerned.
"They were all off when they were loaded." The first truck driver said.
"Well, they're on now." The first man said.
Even as he spoke, the HK Tracks began to rotate in opposite directions. They both began to select targets and open fire. The mini guns on each of them fired short bursts every time they acquired a human target. Men began to fall around the area. Most of them were killed instantly. Other ones were wounded severely as they sought cover.
One HK Track proceeded deeper into the mine. The other one searched the area around the big rigs. It traversed past all of them and neared the wooden enclosure. The door opened and the guard from outside entered. He was immediately shot.
No other targets were detected so it continued into deeper into the mine after the first HK Track.
It didn't look like they were done yet. The two HK Tracks joined each other and proceeded to look for additional targets.
The first man chose to lie down in the back of the white van. The second man remained in his seat and leaned it back. They were both soon asleep.
The two men continue to rest.
The second man woke up from time to time and looked around. He's been able to get more rest than the other man had. He noted a lot more arrivals since they'd been there. He checked the time and saw the tram would be open soon. He actually thought it might have already started. He could see a cable car move away from the lower station. He watched it for a few moments and could see another one coming down from the header station.
"It's time." The second man said.
The first man yawned and looked around.
"Is it time already?" The first man asked.
The second man thought maybe they'd let time get away from them a little.
"We need to get moving." The second man said. "It's already open."
The first man didn't think they needed to hurry. What they were going to check wasn't going anywhere. More than likely the results of their investigation would be the same as at every other location they'd visited.
"It looks like it's been open for a while." The first man said.
The second man had lost track of time. He watched a tour van unloaded a group of passengers.
"It looks like we slept in a little longer than we should have." The second man said. "I don't think it really matters."
They checked their phones again. They still didn't work. They wanted to follow up on any action at the port. They wanted the Mob thugs to get a surprise if they showed up.
The two men collected a few things from the van and started out. They were only able to take their pistols with them. They really didn't think they would need anything else where they were going.
CamNet's Terminators could only wait. They still had several hours to kill. If the men paid any attention to vehicles which arrived after them, theirs wouldn't be among them. They'd arrived before them.
Lena thought it would be best if they were already inside of the lower station before the men entered. They quietly got out of their SUV and moved towards the lower station when a tour van arrived and let off a group of people. They quickly slipped in amongst the tourists.
"I think one of us should go up now and be there ahead of the men." Lena said.
Tina thought they should both go. It would put one of them fifteen minutes behind the men if they waited until the men went up on their own and followed them on the next cable car up.
"Let's just both go now." Tina said. "We'll have priority passes waiting for us anyway."
Lena didn't think it would be a problem. Even if the men left in the van, the drone would still follow them. They could be taken out at any time if necessary.
CamNet's Terminators were both bothered by the events which occurred at the port. They were pleased the Resistance team had emerged unscathed and the victors. It didn't appear the operation was concluded yet either. Right now they needed to get moving. They entered the Aerial Tramway station.
I Hate To Eat And Run
As things play out over time
All that's left is one
Each claims to be the victor
In reality nobody won
Left behind are many hard feelings
When it's all said and done
The chances things will be good again
Are about zero to none
The facts are the facts
No matter how they're spun
To try the same thing again
Is like watching a bad rerun
Everything is much deeper
Than just about the fun
Anyone is everyone
Someone is no one
It's better to finish
What's already begun
Do more than say
I hate to eat and run
Nobody
