rock and a hard place
Inuyasha loved Kikyo. He did. His feelings hadn't faded with time, they still burned brightly- seared him scorched him burning hope and life and peace away -no matter how he tried to smother them. She had been the first person other than his mother to show him any kindness. He loved Kikyo.
He wanted her to die.
The doll that walked around was not the Kikyo that he loved. That Kikyo was dead. She had been dead for fifty years and he knew that. The Kikyo he had known and loved would not have wanted to exist in the state that she was in. She never would have wanted to survive by eating innocent souls. She'd want him to kill her, but he couldn't. He couldn't, hadn't been able to even after she'd attacked Kagome because no matter what she was now he had promised to protect her and he would.
Sometimes he wished Kagome was selfish. He wished she would make him choose. The choice, he knew, would not be that hard. Not when he was faced with losing her.
Kagome was exactly who he thought she was. He loved her and she loved him just as he was. He didn't have to be human for her. She loved him as he was and she'd love him as whatever he became. She was the first person to ever accept him. The first person that never even considered the possibility that he should be anything other than what he is.
He wanted Kikyo to die but she couldn't because she was dead. He wanted Kagome to make the choice for him but that kind of cruelty wasn't in her.

Author's Note: I got this idea from a friend of mine. She had a few lines and said that I could do what I want with them. Please give me some feedback. Was it consistent? Did it make sense?
