Itachi closed the door to his room. He looked at the back of Deidara who walked silently towards the bed. The Uchiha stood and just looking at the blonde. He felt Deidara was quiet during their way back from the dining room. Well, from his observation, Deidara was excellent at balanced out his partner. He remained quiet when he was with Sasori because the Sunagakure shinobi prefer a quiet atmosphere and when he was with Hidan, he was as loud as the older man.

Yet, Itachi has felt this silence was not because the Uchiha was a quiet type. They talked conversely before the dinner. And, indeed, during dinner, they talked to their friends so they did not so much exchanged words. On the way back here, no words at all. Itachi expected Deidara to complain about the party. Anything. The food or their drunk friends or anything. The another odd thing was, Deidara never looked at him. Even now, the blonde laid down on the bed. Turned his back to Itachi.

"Deidara," he walked to Deidara's bed.

The blonde didn't look up or changed his position. Itachi stood beside the bed. The Uchiha believed something was wrong when he was not being recognized, albeit they both know Deidara has not to sleep yet.

"Are you alright?" He asked cautiously.

Deidara replied, "Why wouldn't I?"

"You seems... avoid my eyes since dinner." Itachi took a conclusion based on all the silence, "Are you angry with me?"

Stiffened, blue eyes widened, Deidara turned back around and looked up at Itachi. Slightly surprised. He wasn't expected Itachi to notice what he concealed. He asked, "What makes you say that?"

"You were fine talking to me before the dinner but you don't want to look at me after that," explained Itachi. What was make the difference? What happened. Itachi eyes widened briefly. He made a wild guess, "Is it because of the kiss?"

Deidara looked away. Bull's eyes. Itachi blamed himself, his voice slightly wavered, "Do you not like it? I apologize if I went too far. I will not do it again."

The blonde snapped his head to Itachi. He saw the seriousness on the Uchiha's face. It was the same face he put when he was determined to not make any mistake in mission. Deidara knew Itachi meant his words and he sighed. He needed to talk to avoid long-term misunderstandings.

"It's not that I don't want it," Deidara sat but looked down at his lap. "I just feel stupid."

Itachi wasn't sure the reason for that, he asked, "May I know why?"

"Well…" Deidara sighed again. He started rambling, "You kissed me… in front of the others. It's so embarrassing to me but you…" his voiced leaked out an accusation, "…you don't even have any reaction, un."

Another sighed, "I know our dating agreement is starting without any love on our side but… I don't know… I feel stupid for being embarrassed alone. You don't seem to be affected."

Itachi knelt down in front of Deidara, he sincerely said, "I have no idea I made you feel like this. Please, forgive me, Deidara."

The blonde was slightly surprised, "It's no big deal, you don't have to apologize."

Itachi shook his head, "No. It's my fault you felt like this. We are a comrade on a mission in Akatsuki but being in a relationship is more than that, we should know each other." He looked down as well, "I should tell you about myself and what you should know the true meaning of being my partner."

Deidara gave him full attention as Itachi started, "I was raised under the iron hand of my father. Learning a Jutsu comes naturally to me. I thought it was normal for a ninja to succeed in learning a jutsu in one try. Apparently, it's not. Even my father was surprised every jutsu he taught me was easily done. My clan is indeed notable, but, after I entered Academy until I joined ANBU, people eyes on me constantly."

Itachi looked up at Deidara, "Their eyes not only have admiration but hatred too. Some people worshipped me and others hate me. So, I get used to ignoring people's attention and mind my own business. I'm not easily affected by doing something in public. Personally, kissing you is my right as your boyfriend and I never thought of other people because I used to ignore it. That's why it was insensitive of me to kiss you in public without considering your feelings. I'm sorry, Deidara…"

"I see…" the blonde understood now. No wonder Itachi wasn't affected. He was always in the spotlight since he was a small kid. "Like I said, it's not your fault and I understand know."

Several seconds passed without words before realization sunk into Deidara. His blue eyes widened at Itachi, "Wait, is that means if we get married, I'll be treated like that as well?"

"I'm afraid so," Itachi elaborated, "I should warn you that my clan is well-known, but not always in a favorable way. Your life may be threatened and judged."

"Oh."

"Deidara, I understand that if you want to call it off. However," Itachi said in unbroken trust, "when I choose you to be my future husband, it is not just because you are attractive. I believe in you."

Itachi had nothing to lose, so he wasn't afraid, to give out his card. Became his spouse was not a small matter and Itachi had thought about all possibilities when he had to choose someone to be his husband. Deidara may be young but that was his plus point because younger people tended to have unpredictable sides. Itachi believed it will be good.

Deidara felt he was special when Itachi told him that. He was stunned in awe. Like many artists, Deidara was not one to be overly busybody or observe people. He immersed himself in art and that was just enough for him. Even he never know Akatsuki existed until he was recruited to join. Information was not his expertise. He wasn't used to be in the spotlight like Itachi. Hell, he even never had a relationship before. He never thought of anything other than his art.

But, Itachi… possibly could be the one.

"I still want to try, un," Deidara mumbled while looked away to hide his red cheeks.

Itachi smiled, "Thank you." He added, "If you have doubt or anything, you can always tell me." Itachi noted that Deidara was troubled because he was kissed in the public and the blonde himself said that it was not like he didn't want it. Was that mean that he won't protest if Itachi do it in private? Hmmm…

He asked softly, "Can I kiss you now?"

Deidara startled. Stared at Itachi with wide eyes.

"The kiss in the party is more like your penalty and I want to make it up with you properly," Itachi smiled. "May I?"

Deidara's heart beating wildly and it took all his effort to not blush at this moment. He shrugged like it was not big deal but when Itachi leaned closer, the blonde knew it was. Deidara closed his eyes and waiting until those soft lips landed on his. Nothing sensual, just a short chaste kiss but succeed to make Deidara felt weird. In a good way.

"Good night."

"Night, un."

Itachi slept on his bed across Deidara's. On the other side, Deidara couldn't sleep because he felt more embarrassed than he did in the dining room. Seemed like the problem was not whether it was in public or not.

But, the kiss itself was the problem.

In the morning, Deidara woke up to found Itachi sat on the other bed, already dressed up in Akatsuki cloak and seemed like ready to go.

"Good morning," greeted the Uchiha when he noticed the blond opened blue eyes sleepily. Deidara sat up, muttered, "Morning…"

He eyed Itachi from head to toe before asked, "Are you going, now?"

"Yes, Kisame and I need to go early. Aren't you have a mission today?" Itachi put on his sandals.

"Yes, but we will go in the evening," replied Deidara.

"When your mission will be finish?" Itachi has done with his sandals and rose to his feet.

"I don't know, this should be quick. My guess is 3 or 4 days, un."

"I see," Itachi walked to Deidara's bed. The blonde looked up, he was reluctant to ask but remembered what Itachi told him last night, Deidara decided to just say it.

"When your mission will be finished?" He asked while concealed his curiosity. He told himself that it was fine for him to ask because they were in a relationship.

"I think it's going to take time," replied Itachi.

Deidara nodded, "See you, then. Un."

Itachi looked like he wanted to say or do something but think the better of it and just nodded before went out. Deidara raised one eyebrow and tilted his head.

—000—

Like Deidara predicted, his mission has been completed in three days. On the way back to headquarters, Deidara and Sasori sat on the clay bird. They were in comfortable silence like usual. Usually, after a mission, Deidara was bored and sleeping on their way back but now he stared blankly at the orange-purple sky.

Sasori noticed this odd behavior but remained silent. He didn't think Deidara could shut his mouth for a long time. Yes, the frequency was lesser when he was with Sasori but Deidara was naturally a chatterbox. Sasori was used to it. The Puppet Master was counting in his mind…

"Sasori no Danna."

There you go, thought the redhead, outwardly, he said, "What?"

"Can I ask you something, un?"

"It depends."

Deidara confused, "Depends on what?"

"If you want to brag about your Uchiha, then, no."

Deidara snapped his head towards his senior on his right side, his face was red, "M-my Uchiha?" Somehow, it was so embarrassing to hear it from the redhead senior. Sasori was not one to joke or teasing so basically he was stating a fact since both Itachi and Deidara confirmed they were a couple of three nights ago. Which was a bit awkward for the blond. "No, it's not about him, un."

"Alright," Sasori stared at Deidara. The redhead expected his partner would want to brag since Deidara always talking about his art in that manner. "Speak."

"Have you been in a relationship, Danna?" Deidara was curious and serious at the moment.

Sasori wasn't expected that. Deidara never talked about something private before, let alone voiced out a question like this. To Sasori, nonetheless. Mostly, both of them talking about art-related or mission-related. From the redhead point of view, this topic was out of the blue. However, since the blonde was recently taken, maybe it wasn't so unexpected.

"Why do you ask me?" Sasori was genuinely bizarre.

"Well, you are older than me. Do you have one?"

Sasori was silent for a moment, then he admitted, "Yes, I do."

Deidara was thunderstruck, "You DO?"

Sasori felt insulted and he was annoyed, "What's that supposed to mean? Why do you think I went back to Suna when we had days off?"

"Uh, sorry, I'm just surprised. I thought you just want to create another puppet," the younger one apologized. "Is your relationship born out of love, un?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Nothing," Deidara faced away, "I'm just curious what it feels like. To be in a relationship where the participants have mutual feelings. I don't know how to recognize those feelings or even how it develops into love. What does it take? Is it the same with loving arts, un?"

Sasori listening to those rubbish with zero interested until he realized one thing: why Deidara would interest in that kind of thing if he was dating? It was like he—

"Is this your first relationship?" Sasori was quite surprised.

Deidara stiffened and had a look that he was caught on. Sasori stated in disbelief, "Itachi is your first boyfriend." It was a statement but actually a question.

"So, what?" Deidara scowled.

Sasori widened eyes, then, "The kiss at the party three days ago… was that your first kiss?"

Cautiously, the blonde nodded as he turned his face to Sasori, "Kinda, un."

For the redhead, Deidara maybe just a junior. But, the brat was already his mission partner since the blond was recruited. They were getting along and at some point, Sasori was fond of Deidara. Albeit not in a romantic way. More like a brother. At first, he never wanted to be involved in private matters of other members. Besides, he always thought that Deidara has experience in this kind of thing. How the hell the guy never had a lover before?

"Were you single all this time? No girlfriend or boyfriend at Iwa?"

"I was busy creating my art, un!"

"Have you had sex with anyone?"

Deidara blushed hard, "It is not your business, Dann—"

Sasori glared, "Deidara."

"Ck," he looked away again, "No."

An award silence filled the air between them. Deidara couldn't comprehend why Sasori asked those things. He was just curious and he respected the redhead as his senior so he asked him. He heard Sasori muttered something like 'I'll kill Hidan' but maybe Deidara misheard it.

"Maybe you shouldn't move to Itachi's room," at this, Deidara turned his head back to the redhead senior. Sasori asked in an alarmed tone, "Did Itachi touch you against your will?"

"Wha—no, he didn't do anything. Just the kiss," replied Deidara.

Sasori sighed in relief inwardly. Well, since it was Itachi, he was worried for nothing. The Uchiha he knew was a remarkable man. Not only his ninja's skill but also his personality. That was why he has no objection when Yahiko asked to change roommate. But, Sasori guessed, Itachi must not know that Deidara was a virgin or never involved with anyone. He will need to have a word with the Uchiha.

"Why do you ask me those questions?" Deidara truthfully didn't know.

"Why do you want to discuss this kind of thing with me?" Sasori replied back.

"Well, I know you will not make fun of me. Either you explain or you won't answer," the blonde scoffed, continued, "unlike Hidan. He will laugh endlessly."

"I admit, I never thought you want to usual this with me," Sasori said honestly. He sighed. He stared at his mission partner, his tone softer than usual, "It's complicated to explain love with words, Deidara. It may or may not same with our love for the arts. You can't know you're in love by thinking, but by feeling it with your heart.

Deidara looked thoughtful and gazed back at the sky. Sasori followed suit, he thought this conversation has ended. But, he was wrong.

"Then, what's that means if a kiss makes you feel 'weird'? Like your cock twitching? Is it normal?"

Sasori screeched inwardly: Why me?!?!

—000—

"Deidara-chan!" Hidan grinned and side hugged the blond after he gave the mission report to Konan. Since Deidara's mission was not to capture rogue shinobis, their competition was off. Hidan's sly grin made Deidara suspicious.

"What?"

"Come on, tell me everything, man," Hidan dragged him away from the report room. Sasori who just went out of the room catches their back and scowled. He followed them.

"What do you mean?" Deidara was puzzled.

"Oh, you're playing the fool!" Hidan scoffed. "Don't bother, it won't work! I know you and your boyfriend must have done it!"

"It? What's it?"

"Don't be stingy! Tell me your hot passionate first night with Itachi!"

Deidara tilted his head, a big question mark hovered above his blonde hair. He has no idea what Hidan talking about. Their night? He believed, "We slept."

"I know that!" Hidan getting frustrated. "But, how he—" the words sunk in and Hidan saw at Deidara's face to found pure confusion was there. No trick! Widened his eyes, Hidan concluded, "He didn't do anything?"

"He kissed me, you saw that, un!"

"I mean when you two went to your room!"

Slightly flushed, Deidara muttered, "He kissed me again then we slept, un."

"So, nothing happened?"

"What do you mean by nothing?" the blonde was curious.

"Isn't it obvious? Of course, I mean sex! What kind of man doesn't have sex with their lover? Is Itachi impotent or something?" his body suddenly tied by chakra's strings, "What?! Why my body—"

"Enough, Hidan," Sasori appeared behind the youngsters.

Hidan was annoyed, "Why? I'm just asking!"

"No, I won't tolerate any damage more than this," said Sasori firmly. He dragged Kakuzu's partner back to the report room with his chakra's strings were still tied to Hidan's body. He said to Deidara, "You can rest in your room. I'm going have a chat with Hidan."

Deidara raised an eyebrow. It was rare for Sasori to talk to Hidan but didn't think much of it. He was rather occupied by Hidan's words earlier.

Sex...

Did Hidan think that being Itachi's boyfriend meant they would have sex? Was that what couples do? Honestly, Deidara didn't know. He never paid attention to couples around him. Well, he never paid special attention to anyone before. Was that what Itachi meant by boyfriend stuff?

Then, why didn't Itachi do it? Was it because Deidara ruined it when they talked about the kiss at the party? Or was it because he wasn't attractive? Wait, Itachi said Deidara was attractive. So, it wasn't that. It must be because the blonde being a brat. Made a fuss over a kiss. Not to mention, he didn't know at all about sex. Or was it because there was no love at all between them? How do people fall in love? He didn't know that.

He went to his new room to found it was empty. His blue eyes glanced at Itachi's bed. He mumbled, "So, he hasn't come back…"

Somehow, he felt heavy in his heart.

"Maybe this dating thing is a bad idea…"

Yet, he had this inexplicably desire to see Itachi…

—000—

At dinner time, only Itachi and Kisame were not there. Hidan glared at Sasori who calmly sat beside Deidara. The blonde looked inattentive and eating quietly. Not only Sasori, but all the members at the dining table also sensed Deidara was a little off. They exchanged glances when the blonde sighed.

Konan took initiative, "Deidara, are you okay?"

"Hm? Yeah, why?" He sounded uninterested and didn't looked at her.

"Well, you are—" at this point, the door to this room opened. An Uchiha greeted them all with a cheeky grin.

"Hi, guys! I'm back!"

The members greeted him back with, "Obito!"
