Deidara stormed off, grabbed Itachi to pull him aside into the corner then he hissed, "You didn't tell me that you are one of Hokage's candidates!"

"Ah," Itachi understood, He whispered, "Technically, it's still unofficial since we haven't gotten married."

"Yeah, but, it will be official when we tie the knot, right?" Deidara raised an eyebrow.

Itachi nodded, "Indeed."

"Is there anything you think I should know about Konoha's culture?"

"There is a decree from my great-grandfather, Nidaime Hokage, that everyone when reaching 17 years birthday should try to open a sacred scroll. It applies to all citizens of Konoha including their spouses if they come from other villages," explained Itachi. "Kushina-sama did this as well after she get married to Minato-sama. You'll need to do it as well after we get married."

"A decree to open a sacred scroll? What's that for?" Deidara was curious.

"There was no evidence that anyone has success so I can't tell you what is it for."

Deidara sighed and let go of Itachi's hand, yet, Itachi held Deidara's in his gently. "I'm sorry, I didn't tell you," Itachi apologized.

Deidara's cheeks were tinted red as Itachi held his hand, the look on the Uchiha's face was sincere. "It's fine, un," he muttered, "It's just... It would be nice if you inform me first. I know you are amazing and I should predict this will happen, un."

Itachi smiled lovingly, "Thank you." He glanced back to the room and saw all the teasing grins (except Sasuke, who frowned deeply and faced away, and Orochimaru who just smiled knowingly), Itachi's face slightly tinted by rosy hue for the first time in front of everyone he knew. He had never been this close to anyone in front of his family and friends so this was kinda new for him and his circles. To conceal it, he led Deidara back to others and said, "Let me introduce you to my senior in ANBU and my cousin."

Deidara stood beside Itachi and looked at the newcomers who holding babies in their arms. "This is Shisui Uchiha, my 4th cousin from my father's side and his son, Hisui," a man with curly hair grinned at him. Then, to a masked person with a baby, Itachi said, "This is my senior, he was my captain once. He is Hatake Kakashi. He was Sasuke and Naruto's teacher as well, a student of Yondaime Hokage and Obito's teammate. His son is Hoki."

"Nice to meet you," Deidara bowed slightly since they looked younger than others. Shisui and Kakashi bowed in the same manner. After that, the older ones sat on the sofa while the younger ones sat on the floor. Itachi, Deidara, Naruto, and Sasuke were on the floor.

"Shisui, Kakashi, and Obito are the candidates of Godaime Hokage as well," Kushina explained with a smile. "I bet my husband will have a hard time picking which one to be his successor," she laughed.

"Not only Minato, we as Hokage's advisors also need to think about it," Tsunade commented. "Oh, forget about work, I don't want to talk about it," she waved her hand, turned her eyes to older blond, and grinned, "Deidara, tell me, what do you like about Itachi?"

"Wha—" His face was a deep shade of red. His jaw dropped.

Naruto laughed, "Nice question, Grandma!"

"I...uhm... it's...uhm..." His heart beating so fast, with all eyes on him, his face reddened. He glanced at Itachi who looked back with anticipation written on his face. Like, he really wanted to know as well. Don't look at me like that! Isn't that a rhetorical question? Did she really ask me why I like Itachi?Hello? It's Itachi FUCKING Uchiha! What's there not to like, Ma'am?!?!

He closed his eyes and glanced away from Itachi. Looking down at the chabudai in front of him. Bashful tone colored his confession, "I mean...He is handsome, remarkable, kind, excellent cooks, and..."

"Great in bed?" A curious tone interrupted. Thanks to that question, not only Deidara's face but also Sasuke's and Naruto's were as red as a tomato.

Tsunade chided in, "Jiraiya!"

"What? He looks so red, I thought he needs help," Jiraiya defended his excuse.

Before any argument break, Shisui asked Itachi's boyfriend, "How about what you don't like about Itachi? You must have one, right? After spending time with him. Maybe he has a bad habit you find weird or something."

"His popularity," Deidara replied immediately. He sighed heavily, "He is too popular."

Kakashi chuckled, "Hang in there, Deidara."

Naruto laughed again and patted Deidara's shoulder, "I feel you. Been there too." Deidara has a new respect for Naruto. He didn't know what Naruto saw in Sasuke or why Sasuke was popular (He still a jerk in Deidara's mind) but for someone who felt like him (uncomfortable with the boyfriend's popularity), he knew Naruto was telling the truth.

"So, what do you like about Deidara, Itachi?" Makoto asked her firstborn. Deidara's attention snapped to the woman before looking at his boyfriend. Itachi looked as calm as usual. Deidara couldn't get it how he does that? Was he never nervous at all? Deidara would be like he want to run away if his family cornered him like that. However, Deidara was desperately want to hear Itachi's answer.

Big blue misty eyes looked up at Itachi. Deidara saw him smile at his mother, "Well, he is strong, creative, unique, and," Itachi turned to his boyfriend, "I found it's endearing when his eyes sparkle like this."

"W-wha— my eyes don't—"

"Oh, it does," Mikoto chuckled. Kushina agreed, she winked, "Your eyes sparkling the moment Itachi enters this room." Tsunade smirked, "Not only that, every time we talk about Itachi, your smile brightens even more."

"Wha-wha—" Deidara flustered then exclaimed in denial, "No, it didn't happen and it's not now either, un!"

—000—

"It's so embarrassing, un," Deidara muttered still with palms covered his face. They had just finished lunch with the others. Kakashi and Shisui went home and the legendary sannin also took their leave. Mikoto and Kushina were in the kitchen while Sasuke and Naruto were upstairs in Naruto's bedroom.

Itachi and Deidara sat on the engawa (Japanese porch) facing the back garden. Waiting for Mikoto before going back home together. Itachi chuckled, "It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I like your eyes."

"Easy for you to say coz they are your family, un," Deidara mumbled without changing his position.

Itachi circled Deidara's waist then kissed that golden locks, "They mean no harm."

Deidara put down his hands and revealed a red face before he rested his head on Itachi's shoulder, he pouted, "I know that. But, it's your fault they are teasing me. Coz those sparkling thing..."

"But, it's true. I like your eyes."

"Don't say that in front of your family, un," Deidara scolded him without a glance at Itachi. The Uchiha smiled and let his cheek lean on Deidara's head.

"As you wish," he reassured him.

A comfortable silence was present between them. Deidara smiled in contentment. It was bizarre but he couldn't say he didn't like it. Itachi's family and colleagues were kind. Well, except for Sasuke. Ah, yes, the little brother.

"Weren't you supposed to train with Sasuke?" He asked.

Itachi explained, "Training was not my intention. I agreed to go with Sasuke because I want to talk to him."

"Talk? About what?"

"I asked him to not give you a hard time."

"What?!" Deidara leaned away and looked at Itachi. "I told you I can handle him." He frowned.

Itachi strokes Deidara's golden hair, "I know you can but I don't want my husband and my brother to have cold war even before the wedding. We are going to be family."

"Ugh," Deidara sighed. He took a guess maybe in Uchiha Clan, it was rare to have siblings and their in-laws quarreling. Since the philosophy of love was high in this clan. Especially, Itachi seemed to love Sasuke dearly. "I get it, I'll try to get along with him," he conceded.

"Thank you," a gentle smile once again before Itachi leaned closer to Deidara's face. By this time, the blond knew by instinct what Itachi would do so he closed his eyes and leaned up until their lips met. Deidara enjoyed kissing his boyfriend.

Itachi took it slowly like he wanted to cherish every moment. He used his tongue to map out each part inside of Deidara's mouth. Gently tangled his boyfriend's tongue. The blond was melting at this point. He ended it slowly as well but Deidara was out of breath. He blushed when he caught Itachi's eyes filled with longing and a hint of lust.

Deidara's face reddened and his heart beat faster than ever. He never felt like this through all his life. Gaze into Itachi's eyes, such a warm and loving gaze, gave Deidara a push to open his lips. To confess something he never told anyone. To say about his—

"Hey, guys!" Naruto opened the door.

—and the moment between the couple was ruined. Deidara glared at the younger blond who head to them with Sasuke behind him. Naruto beamed, "Do you want to have a double date with us? There is a fireworks festival tonight. It will be fun!"

Deidara raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Sasuke who looked indifferent. Doubt fully he asked, "Double Date?"

Seriously?!

—000—

"You look great!" Naruto grinned as he looked at the mirror in front of them. Deidara followed his suit and found the sight of both of them wearing yukata (summer Kimono). Naruto wore black-orange yukata with black obi. Swirls were the pattern.

Standing beside the younger blond was Deidara wore a deeper blue sky yukata with light yellow obi. The pattern was white birds. He frowned, "Tell me again, why should I wear this, un?"

"For Firework festival!" Naruto beamed. They were inside Naruto's bedroom. Getting dressed up. Naruto lent him his yukata to Deidara. Their height was almost the same. Deidara was slightly taller than Naruto.

He looked at the younger blond for seconds. For a day he knew Naruto, he was a fun kid. Maybe not notable bright but he was funny, generous, kind and lovable. Hence he stated, "I really don't get it why you are together with Sasuke. How can you stand him?"

Naruto blinked several times before the realization sunk in, "Ah, he was being a jerk to you already?"

"You saw that too?"

"Well, no. But, considering Itachi's behavior when he knew that we are together, I think I can imagine," Naruto snickered.

Deidara was shocked, "Are you telling me that Itachi being a jerk to you just because you and his little brother became an item?" Really? Itachi?

Naruto laughed, "No, Itachi will never do that. He just gave me all information about Sasuke like what he likes to eat, his habit when he gets angry, and how I should treat him in certain situations, and bla bla blah. As if he expects me to remember all of that."

"It sounds annoying," Deidara commented.

Naruto chuckled, "It was. But, he means well. And maybe a bit lonely. They are close as brothers."

"Ah, their mother reminds me about the brother-complex syndrome in Uchiha Clan," Deidara admitted. "Is it that bad?"

"What I can say is, it's real," Naruto shrugged.

Deidara commented, "I still think you can get a better man than Sasuke. You are Hokage's son. You can get anyone." A realization hit him, "Oh, is that because he is an Uchiha and descendant of Nidaime Hokage? Is that why you are with him?"

"What?! That's crazy! It has nothing to do with his family's lineage, since we were kids, I love Sas—" Naruto blushed hard at his words. He faked an awkward cough and looked at anything other than the older blond, "I mean, I known Sasuke since we were kids."

"Hmm... So, you are in love with him since you were a kid?"

"Kinda!" Naruto grinned and blushed at the same time. Even Deidara could feel the happy vibe from Naruto just by talking about Sasuke. This boy was madly in love with Itachi's little brother. Deidara smiled with a fond sigh as if he was defeated.

"Boys, are you ready?" Kushina opened the door after knocking two times. She smiled brightly at the sight, "Oh, you two are so cute!" She hugged them both at the same time with each arm.

It took Deidara a second to realize he was being hugged. He was shocked and words left him. Kushina hugged him in a motherly way and Deidara never had it in his life. It was kind of unexpected and he didn't know how to react.

"Mom! You will ruin our yukata," complained Naruto half-heartedly. He knew his mother's habit by heart. To be honest, he enjoyed it but not in front of other people. Or in this case, his soon-to-be-in-law.

Kushina chuckled leaned away and let them go, "Oh, of course, you have a double date. Sasuke and Itachi had just arrived."

"Oh, great! We're going, Mom!" Naruto grabbed Deidara's waist and left the room.

"Have fun!" Kushina cheered for them.

—000—

"I'm surprised you are agreeing to this double date, Sasuke," Itachi said. They were in front of Naruto's house, waiting for their blonds' boyfriend.

"Today is my last day off. I have a mission tomorrow," replied Sasuke.

"I see. I will go to Iwagakure with Deidara as soon as Deidara receives a letter from Tsuchikage. I don't know when the letter will arrive but maybe you will not be here," he admitted. Sasuke nodded.

He asked quietly, "When you two will get married?"

"Considering our mission's schedule from Akatsuki, maybe in September."

"Next month? So soon..." Sasuke surprised.

Itachi smiled, "Our tradition prohibited us to have two weddings in the same year. Especially, siblings like us." He looked at Sasuke pointedly, "If you want to marry Naruto by the time he turned 17 since we are considered adults at that age, it means next year. Both of you will turn 17 next year so I should get married this year."

Sasuke frowned, "Brother, you are not getting married just so I can get married, right?"

Itachi chuckled, "Our parents may have a role in it because they want me to married first before you."

"So, you and he just pretends—"

"I do like Deidara," Itachi admitted. "I was there when we recruiting him for the first time." He smiled fondly, "Well, he was younger than you at that time so I think I will need more time to wait for him. When our parents ask me about marriage and Deidara gave me the chance to ask him, so I took it. He said yes."

Sasuke was a bit bitter to see his brother look so delighted as he talked about Deidara. He felt his big brother was taken and not exclusively his anymore. He muttered with a defeated sigh, "You look happy."

"I am," Itachi smiled genuinely. Sasuke loved his brother's smile and he returned with a fond sigh.

The door opened and both blonds stepped out. They read the mood from the Uchiha brothers was quite different from the one they had at home. So, Deidara asked unsurely, "Do we interrupt something?"

Itachi chuckled, Naruto laughed and Sasuke sighed.

"No, you are not," Itachi told him as both blond walked closer. Itachi took Deidara's hand in his, "Sasuke just asked about when our wedding will be."

"Oh," Deidara blushed a little when they started walking to the festival hand in hand. Sasuke and Naruto followed them.

"When will it be?" Naruto asked.

"I'll make sure it will be this year so you can marry Sasuke next year." Itachi replied lightly. "Rest assured, Naruto."

"Wha— that's not what I mean when I ask the date!" Naruto blushed hard. Sasuke blushed as well.

Deidara was surprised, "This year?"

"I'm considering September," Itachi revealed.

"Next month?!" Misty blue eyes widened. Truthfully, he has no fixed date in mind because he still waiting for Tsuchikage's letter. "So soon?!"

"Too soon? I don't think so," Itachi leaned closer to Deidara's ear, he whispered, "I can't wait to be your husband."

The long-haired blond blushed hard and looked up at Itachi. The older man was stunning with dark grey yukata and black obi. Crows were the pattern in his yukata. His long hair was tied loose on his right shoulder. And this man had just told Deidara he couldn't wait to be his husband, how should he reply to that?!

"Wow, wedding in autumn! Cool!" Naruto exclaimed.

For once, Deidara was glad that Naruto interrupted them. Yet, it was short-lived as Naruto listing, "Do you will have time to get all the preparation? You've got to have the wedding attire made by now. There is an invitation list, the souvenirs, the flowers, the avenue and—"

Sasuke cut him with, "Naruto, how the hell do you know all that stuff?"

The younger blond looked at his boyfriend in simple dark purple kimono with white and red fans as the patterns, he pouted and blushed hard before looking in another direction, "My mom lectures me about wedding preparations since she knew about us..."

"It's a lot of stuff just for a ceremony..." Deidara gulped.

Naruto sighed, "She is nagging me a lot that marriage is not only about bed matter and marriage uniting two families or something. She explains a lot but man, I can't remember all."

Deidara was silent and took in all Naruto's words. Hokage's wife has a point. Marriage was not simple. He won't only marry Itachi but all his family, clan, and traditions. Vice verse. Itachi won't just marry Deidara. But, his family as well. It was uniting two families. His train of thought was halted when he felt Itachi squeeze his hand gently.

"It's all right, I'll be by your side no matter what," he promised him. It seemed like he knew what Deidara worried about.

A wave of relief washed over him, so Deidara nodded and grinned, "I'm counting on you."
