Whitney Schnee had no incredible talents like her older sisters. She had no claim as an heiress, she was just born as a backup plan if Weiss ever fails.
She couldn't care less about the so-called Schnee Legacy. Whitney only ever wanted affection and live away from the prison she called home. She would listlessly watch the waves of the oceans of Solitas.
Growing up she was just was practically raised by Klein and Winter. But her father hired a lot of tutors to ensure she and her sisters grew to be fine ladies of the Schnee name. Among her education were etiquette, history, culture, dancing, aura training, and singing.
Whitney didn't excel in these fields like her sister and she had nothing to prove.
She couldn't sing like Weiss, she wasn't as strong as Winter. Whitney is just mediocre and average.
But, there was something she did for fun and something she genuinely enjoyed.
She likes painting, and it's one of the few that they take away from her. She loved to paint the mountains that border Mantle, capture the majesty of sunset as it dips at the edge of the ocean.
When she paints her anxiety, her loneliness her problems just fade, and felt as if she was in the subjects she paints.
Every stroke of her brush just gives her a feeling of liberation. She wanted more in life, but she had nothing except for this.
Whitney didn't know why she accepted her father's request to go to Beacon. But, the opportunity to leave that cold and loveless mansion was too good to pass up.
Also, she didn't mind being an absolute nuisance to Weiss while she was there.
Weiss wasn't the only reason she was going to Beacon, her father did a sponsorship deal with the huntsman academies. The SDC was going to provide Dust for the upcoming Vytal Festival and increase the security of the shipment of Dust due to the recent robberies.
She was sent to Vale just to be the face of the SDC's fundraiser event, using one of her paintings of the Solitas mountain range as a figure piece in Beacon's Ball.
Beacon will provide her lodging during her stay there. And, she will return after the end of the Vytal Festival. But, she turned down that offer she asked if she can instead lodge with Team RWBY instead.
She didn't pass up an opportunity to annoy her sister.
"Miss Schnee we're about to land on Beacon's airstrip in a few moments."
Whitney just silently nodded as she prepares for her arrival.
She carried a small briefcase that carried her precious painting tools and some blank canvases. Her luggage was already delivered ahead of her.
She felt the private aircraft she was aboard gently land, as the airship's canopy slowly opened toward Beacon Academy.
As she exits the craft she saw a crowd of students checking out what was happening, she saw the Headmaster, Ozpin, and the Deputy Headmistress Glynda prepared to welcome her to Beacon.
With them, she saw 'her'.
Her sister Weiss.
For a moment she glared and, Weiss responded with a glare of her own. Due to formality she composes herself and had to greet her cordially.
"Miss Schnee, On behalf of the Council of Vale and Beacon. We welcome you."
"Thank you, and the pleasure is all mine." Whitney did a curtsy.
"My deputy and I are very busy people, you wouldn't mind if your sister, Weiss gives you a tour around Beacon?" Ozpin asked.
"I wouldn't mind, I am happy that my dearest older sister would tour me around," Whitney said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Miss Schnee the offer for your own private dorm still stands, I could imagine that sharing a room with Team RWBY would be very inconvenient for you." Glynda offered.
"It wouldn't be an issue, isn't that right, dear sister?" Whitney smugly said.
Weiss had a strained smile on her face, "Of course, I had prepared a spot and bed for you in our room."
"Well then, we shall take our leave." The professor left, leaving Whitney to Weiss' care.
"My, my such a crowd I pulled in, I guess they haven't seen a proper lady of the Schnee, no?" Whitney smiled and waved at the crowd.
Weiss barely held back a growl, but she controlled herself, "Rest assured that I conducted myself as a Schnee would, flawlessly."
"Oh, but I heard about a certain rumor that someone that looked like Weiss Schnee was participating in a barbaric food fight. Oh, Father was so furious seeing a video surface on DustTube." Whitney said smugly.
"I am merely helping my team, and it would reflect poorly if I abandon my friends."
"For sure, but I am curious?"
"About what?"
"How it did it felt to be like a commoner being covered in filth?" Whitney smirked.
Weiss was half-tempted to have a glyph launch her little sister halfway across Beacon. But she reigned in her anger and didn't decide to glyph launch Shitney.
"I wouldn't waste any more time on your questions, just follow me and let's finish this tour as soon as possible."
"And, this would be the dormitories and this is my teams room."
Whitney had just been listlessly following her sister around and just nodded or asked the occasional question. So, far she found Beacon to be acceptable enough. It wasn't as lavish as the common Atlesian aristocrat's home, but it was generally presentable. At least it wasn't as sterile and militaristic as Atlas Academy or her home.
"Are you sure you don't want to take the Headmaster's offer for a room?" Weiss asked.
Whitney just sighed, "I am very positive, dear sister."
"If my teammates accidentally blew you up, don't blame me, I did warn you."
Weiss opened the door, Whitney was greeted by an interesting sight indeed.
The room was an organized mess to say the least. She could obviously see a haphazard attempt to make bunk beds and a random assortment of poster being attached to walls.
She could see Weiss' teammates minding their own business until she entered the room. They seem to take noticed of her presence. But, one of them, a girl with black hair and bow, just looked at her and returned to read her book.
But the other black haired girl seemingly burst into petals and moved between the space of her bed to door in an instant.
"Hiiiii! I am Ruby, I'm Weiss' partner its nice too meet'cha." Ruby said with much enthusiasm.
"Heya, I'm Yang and that over there is Blake, she doesn't talk much." Yang said as she points at her partner.
Blake just scowled at Yang but she just gave a non-committal wave as she return to her book.
"Likewise, I am Whitney Schnee I heard a lot about you and your team from my dearest sister."
"Ah, shucks don't worry I know I'm awesome too, I always knew Weisscream looks up to me." Yang said as she grinned.
Whitney giggled in response.
"Anyways we put your stuff in the closet over there." Ruby said as she points at said closet.
"And, I wasn't totally looking over your weapon sketches." Ruby sheepishly said.
"RUBY! I told you not to touch my sister's belongings." Weiss admonishes her leader.
"Oh, no it's fine, I don't really mind people looking at them, and I am confident that my work were perfectly drawn."
"Heh, sorry about that, I was just curious why do you keep drawing weapons and armours? Don't get me they're well-designed and you even put detailed blueprints for it. That's so cool! I just use basic shape to make my weapon, but you design them to be both pretty and practical."
"Thank you for your kind praise, Ruby. I do aim to please and since you have a eye for weapons you wouldn't mind sharing your ideas? With my eye for design and your creativity we could make something spectacular." Whitney answered.
"Really?!" Ruby's widen as grasped Whitney's hands in hers.
Whitney giggled, "Of course, that would be actually very lovely, Miss Rose."
"Ahhhhh, you're the next best thing to cookies after Weiss."
"Hey! Ruby I could literally hear you." Weiss said indignantly.
"Aww, Rubes just made a friend, do little sisters just get along like that."
A ring from the doorbell interupted what everyone was doing.
"Can I ask for Miss Schnee for a moment of her time." a voice of young man said behind the doors
Weiss already knew who it was, but before she could tell him to go away.
Whitney being the closest to the door and also being a Schnee decided to open it to see whoever was behind the door.
Jaune breathed in deeply and had to calm himself as to not choke up and ruin his singing. He was in his humble opinion a great singer and musician.
The problem came when he was too nervous he would be tone deafed and not realize it.
So far his dad's confidence advice wasn't working, he tried his father's advice so far nothing worked.
And, he remembered that Mama Arc, saying that the key to wooing girls is to give them a beautiful serenade or bake them delicious sweets.
He doubts Weiss would enough a cookie, Ruby will but he doubts Weiss would appreciate it.
So, music is the ideal way to go. Weiss liked music right? He has heard her song when Yang showed it to him back during the 1st Semester.
Jaune calmed himself down and shook of his nerves. With a sigh, he pressed the doorbell button.
"Can I ask for Miss Schnee for a moment of her time."
He saw the doors opened, instead of any of the members of Team RWBY as he expected. He saw different petite girl similar to Weiss, they had the same height, the same hair white as snow and even the same light blue eyes.
If Jaune didn't knoe any better, he would mistaken her for Weiss or Weiss' twin. But, she lacked the scar going over her left eye and the fact she wore her hair down instead of it tied to a side pony-tail.
"Excuse me, who might you be?" She asked.
"I-uhhh- Jaune Arc and you are?"
"Whitney Schnee, I'm glad to meet you, Mister Arc. If you don't have any further buisiness with me, could kindly leave."
Jaune had a mini panic as his plan to surprise Weiss was ruined, but he didn't want to be rude.
"Wait! I would like for you to listen, to what I want to say to you."
Whitney gave him a curious look.
"Go ahead, I don't mind to humor you for a while."
He scrapped the song he made for Weiss and needs to come up with another song.
With Jaune's quickwits he began freestyling with a simple tune and rhythmically thumping his hand on his guitar to create a beat.
Bum bum bum buum
Mister Atlas, bring me a dream~
Make her the cutest, I've ever seen~
Give her two lips, like roses and clover~
And, tell her lonesome nights are over~
Atlas, I'm so alone~
Bum bum bum bum
Don't have any to call my own~
Oh, Mister Atlas, bring me a dream~
Give her blue eyes with a come-hither gleam~
Give her white hair as soft as cotton~
Give her the word, I ain't a rover~
So, please turn on your magic beaaam~
So Mister Atlas, bring me a dreaaam~'
"So, Whitney would you like me to accompany you to the dance?" Jaune asked.
Team RWBY was stunned not only from Jaune's surprising good serenade, but Jaune just asked out Weiss' little sister.
Blake had ignored her book in-lieu watching this trainwreck in front of her happen.
Ruby, Weiss and Yang were shocked to say the least. But, Weiss recovered quickly and began approaching the door.
'So it didn't matter to him as long it was a Schnee, it should have been me-' Weiss banish the thought, she didn't cared that Jaune was suddenly more appealing to her, and more reprehensible.
But, before she could admonish him.
"Yes!" Whitney said aloud as she covered her mouth and looked sheepishly away as she tried to hide her flushed face.
Weiss was shocked yet again. Never had she seen her smug little sister be this meek and act like a... normal girl that doesn't go scheming around to annoy her.
Whitney composed herself as she coughed to clear away her nervous.
"I would gladly accept your invite to the dance." Whitney her face still red said softly as she fiddle with her index fingers.
Jaune beamed a boyish smiled, "That sounds great, I'll pick you up on the day of the dance."
"That is wonderful, BYE!!" Whitney said and basically slammed the door.
The younger Schnee seemingly melted on the door, she slid down until she landed on the ground.
Her face was red that you could practically she her steaming by the ears. She was a mess, but one thought was going through her mind.
'He was perfect.'
Whitney began to squeal as she seem to shook excitedly at the prospect of having Jaune as her date for the dance.
'His light golden hair, those cerulean eyes she could get lost in, he was so tall and she could see from the outline of his body he had a very aesthetic build. And, by the Brothers, his smile got her weak in the knees.' Whitney's thought ran wild.
Was this love at first? Back then she had thought it was unrealistic and there is no such thing. But, today she was proven so wrong.
Whitney never felt this strongly for a boy, back in Atlas she see the hidden intentions of others trying to gain something from her and presented themselves behind obnoxiously pleasant smiles. Their eyes always keen to take advantage of her, but she didn't saw such deceit in Jaune's eyes.
His eyes only showed her his honest and kind intentions, and he had a very infectious carefree smile that only showed affection. Whitney couldn't belive someone like him invited her to the Dance.
Weiss didn't know what fresh hell she was looking at, nor does she have the desire to know.
Her duplicitous and smug little sister is giggling like a schoolgirl by the foot of their door.
She only ever know Whitney, as the scheming fox that made it her mission to make her day a little worst. Her ego and pride is bigger than herself. She expected her to insult Jaune and tell he didn't have the right to talk to her.
"Jaune." Whitney said as if testing how his name sounded upon her lips.
Whitney only smiled as she said it again, "Jaune."
"Damn, I didn't know Vomit Boy could sing like damn." Yang said to break the awkward silence.
"Uhh, Weiss is Whitney okay?" Ruby asked in concern.
"I don't know..."
"Did Jaune just broke your sister?" Blake finally spoke.
Whitney only just giggled as she was living in a fantasy of her own. She too self-absorbed to notice the shocked reactions of RWBY.
Jaune just dumbly walked back to his team's dorm. He set his guitar by his bed as sat down on his bed.
"Soooo, Fearless Leader did you suceed and did Weiss said yes!?" Nora was the first one to ask her leader.
"Um, yeah but its not Weiss, it's Whitney her younger sister."
Nora could laugh at Jaune's expense. Only Jaune could fail so badly that he accidently invite a different girl to the dance.
"As long as she makes you happy, I think its fine whoever you go to the dance with." Pyrrha said with a bit of sadness, but she nonetheless was happy for Jaune.
Ren just gave him a nod of approval as he returned to his maintenance work on StormFlower.
"Well, I'll take a rest now and try to prepare for the Dance next week." Jaune said as he laid on his bed.
'Whitney, she was cute and she doesn't seem like a bad girl. She carried a certain softness, like something in him awaken his desire 'to protect'. Surely, nothing could wrong.'
'Right?'
That night Weiss couldn't sleep because she refused to accept what happened to be real, only to be reminded by Whitney mumbling, "Jaune." followed by a girly giggle to her pillow. Which is being hug by a very happy Whitney.
'She needs to tell Winter, She needs to know about this.'
Weiss succumb to her tired body and mind and fell asleep.
A/N: I just wanted to try my hand on this unorthodox genderbend story. I brainstorm this idea with a lot of others writers.
Forgive me for the rough grammar, I wrote this thing on a phone at 3am. I'll drawing Whitney and post it on my Twt if I ever finish it.
So if you enjoy this story please leave a review.
