"I still want to know how the last vision ended," Rosalie said a half-hour later.

When the screen faded, it stayed dark, and they sat in silence.

"Calista told us that her futures were pretty bleak, and I believe she's showing us all we need to see: Bella's magnetism for danger," Jasper stated.

"No matter what we do," Esme glanced at Edward. "she'll find trouble on her own."

Carlisle leaned his head on his clasped hands. Does each vision have a specific purpose, a meaning? If that's the case, the first would've served to unveil the truth, and the second would show us that we are not the only ones out there to hurt her. He looked at Edward automatically, worried his first companion had heard his thoughts, before remembering that no one had their gifts. Privacy, he thought, albeit a little childishly. I could get used to this.

Two minutes more they waited before the screen flicked on like a light instead of its usual warming up. Since their eyes were reduced to that of a human's and are now sensitive, they each squinted or closed them.

Once their eyes adjusted, they took in the scene on the screen. There was a man and Bella. The man was standing in front of a large house and he had dark hair and blue eyes. Bella wore her hair up in a high ponytail and looked like she was getting ready for a fight by the expression on her face.

"Snatch. Eat. Erase. Those are the three major components to feeding," the man, Damon said, holding up his fingers as he counted them off.

"I'm confused," Emmett said.

The others were too, so they couldn't respond to his statement.

He had been bitter when Elena chose Stefan - his brother - over him. But that changed when the new family moved to Mystic Falls; the Swans, a father and daughter duo who fled their hometown upon the discovery that the folks down at the Indian Reservation nearby turned into big dogs.

Bella Swan had immediately caught his eye. There was something about her that just seemed...dark. Like himself. He later learned that the 'darkness' he felt from her was really just the people she had been around; shape-shifters and vampires alike.

Charlie Swan had chosen Mystic Falls because he had an old friend who lived there. Miss Liz Forbes, sheriff. He joined the force as one of her deputies.

A few months after they settled, Charlie and Liz developed a relationship.

"Of course they did," Alice muttered.

"Cops are made for each other," Emmett snorted.

They got married not even two years later.

During that time, Bella had started College at Whitmore. Her two roommates were Caroline, Liz's daughter, now Bella's step-sister, and Bonnie Bennett, who later joined them for reasons unknown. Bella had quickly found out that Mystic Falls held a lot of mysteries, and her friends had secrets. She was willing to let them keep them because she had secrets of her own.

"She's loyal in this world," Rosalie said, confused.

"If you think about it, there was no danger in revealing our secret in the other world. We were dead, and there were not many people left on earth. Since we were gone, there was not much to expose." Carlisle explained.

Rosalie begrudgingly accepted his explanation.

Bonnie and Caroline once had a third friend named Elena, but she and her boyfriend Stefan hadn't been seen since their car crashed off of the Wickery Bridge. Bella didn't know if it was just a coincidence or if it was part of the secrets that caused Elena to crash a second time off the same bridge.

Bella later found out that what happened to herself fell into the category she and her friends did not talk about; their secrets.

One night, Bella was at a college party, and the next morning she woke up with no memory and a bandage on her wrist. Even though she wanted to, she couldn't take it off.

Things went downhill from there. The gaps in her memory became more frequent and there were sometimes entire days she couldn't remember. After nearly a month of this, she approached Caroline in their dorm.

Bella was sitting on her bed, staring at her bandaged wrists. She couldn't remember...anything. Not getting an injury or getting it fixed up. At first, it was one wrist, but now it was both.

She was starting to get really concerned. The memory gaps and the intense pain in her wrists was not normal, and there was the fact that she physically could not peel back the bandage. Bella suspected she'd somehow stumbled upon one of Mystic Falls' many secrets and mysteries. She wondered, though, how it had followed her to Whitmore.

The shower in the conjoining bathroom cut off and a few minutes later, Caroline appeared covered in only a towel. Her wet hair dripped on the carpet as she moved around the room getting what she needed.

"Hey, Care?" she said suddenly, making the blonde pause to look at her. "This might sound a little weird, but I'm hoping this has to do with that secret of yours."

Bella noticed how her friend tensed up. "I still don't want to know what it is," she hurried to clarify and Caroline relaxed a little.

"Bella doesn't wanna know what the secret is? She's the one who became Nancy Drew to figure out what we are," Alice said with a touch of exasperation. Why couldn't she have been like this when it came to us?

She sighed to herself, wishing she'd said nothing. "She's gonna think I'm insane," Bella mumbled to herself and saw Caroline stifle a smile.

"How could she hear Bella? She's across the room," Emmett said, confused that the blonde on-screen was showing signs of their vampire hearing.

"I'm more worried about the fact that she willingly and blindly walked into...whatever is in Mystic Falls!" Edward exclaimed.

"Calm down, Eddieboy. This isn't the real Bella, remember?" said Rosalie, upset with how he talked to her mate.

She looked at her hands which sat in her lap. "I've been having these...gaps in my memory," she said, missing the way the blonde's eyes bulged. "I-I don't know what it means, but it started about a month ago. I woke up after Liam's party with no memory and a bandage on my wrist." She turned her arms over and held them out, looking into Caroline's eyes. This time, Bella didn't miss the way her friend's eyes narrowed at her wrists.

Caroline rushed forward at a pace that seemed...off...to her. She grabbed Bella's wrist and ripped off one of the bandages to reveal puncture wounds all over the area. They overlapped each other and seemed to be a set of two each time.

"Are those...bite marks?" Esme whispered.

Carlisle stared at the screen, more accurately, the punctures on Bella's wrist. Is it possible? Could there be another type of vampire?

"W-what?" Bella stuttered, royally confused and terrified. What was happening to her? Her panicked eyes met Caroline's calm ones, though she could tell her friend felt the same way behind the mask.

The next morning when she woke up, she had no memory of the previous night. Bella just chalked it up to another one of her blackouts.

"Wait- what?" Rosalie asked. "Did Caroline do something to her?"

Jasper sighed. "Whatever her friend's secret is, she might have the ability to make other people forget certain things. Like how she got those marks there," he said, pointing lazily at the screen.

She went about her usual morning routine and made her coffee. It tasted slightly different, maybe it was diluted somehow. Either way, she brushed it off and continued her day like normal.

Bella went to her classes and studied in her dorm afterward. Caroline was out with Bonnie, doing who knew what, so she opted to stay alone.

Everything was fine until the window opened and in came a man with dirty blond hair and blue eyes. She screamed in fright - who wouldn't? But he just smiled at her.

Carlisle faced his wife, who looked absolutely frightened at the sight of the man. "What is it?" he asked gently.

"Y-you don't feel it?" she looked at the others, who turned when they heard Carlisle. They each looked concerned but also confused. "Any of you?" Esme focused back on the recording. "I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but he's exuding a strong sense of danger. And not because he snuck into Bella's dorm room. It's something more...something...sinister."

Jasper stared at her intently. If he didn't know any better, he'd say she had a gift. But it was impossible since all their gifts were neutralized. And if she did have a gift, why now? Could it be revealing itself, battling the force that tries to freeze it? He let it go, for now, but decided to look out for any more of her 'feelings'.

"Every night, love," he chided, with a touch of exasperation. He rushed forward at an impossible speed that she had seen only once before. He looked into her eyes and his pupils dilated slightly. "Remember."

When nothing happened, he frowned. He leaned in and sniffed once before backing away with a smile on his face. "I see Miss Forbes has figured it out. Well," he brought his arm to his mouth, biting into it, and shoved his arm in front of her face. When Bella didn't move - as she was frozen in horror - he moved behind her and forced his blood down her throat.

"What is he doing?" Rosalie whispered, shocked and horrified.

Carlisle hadn't heard her since none of them had their increased hearing. "It's clear he's some kind of vampire. An old one, too, if his accent is any consolation. But what would he want with Bella?" he frowned.

He brushed her hair back as she stopped struggling and started drinking of her own volition. More, her mind whispered desperately. The unknown man pulled his arm away and it healed within seconds. He stepped back in front of her as she wiped his blood off her mouth. "Tell Caroline her debt has been paid. Do say Hello for me."

"I don't know your name," Bella whispered.

He just smiled, and in one swift motion, snapped her neck.

The Cullens gasped in horror. Bella was dead.

"Why kill her when he wanted her to send a message?" Jasper said pointedly. "This vampire is different, which means there is also a different way to change."

They relaxed slightly, all except Edward. He wouldn't believe she was still alive until he saw it for himself.

They watched the screen for hours, and nothing happened. From the windows on the video, they could tell that it was nearing dawn.

"Are you sure she's not just dead?" Emmett asked bluntly.

Edward hissed at the thought.

"Just be patient," Carlisle said calmly, though even he was starting to doubt Jasper's theory.

A few minutes later, they heard movement outside the door of Bella's dorm.

"Bonnie, come on. There's no way-" Caroline's words cut off as the door opened and she caught sight of Bella on the floor.

They rushed forward and Bonnie immediately checked for a pulse. She looked at Caroline and solemnly shook her head.

Tears sprung out of their eyes and Caroline held Bella in her arms. "No, no, no. Oh, God. No!" Her words of denial faded and a strange look came into her eyes and Bonnie looked at her, concerned.

"Bonnie," she said slowly but didn't continue. She gasped a minute later. "Oh, God. This is my fault!"

"I don't see how it could be," the witch whispered distractedly.

"Witch?!" Alice exclaimed. "Witches exist too?"

Jasper smiled, "It'd seem so."

"No. She came to me a few nights ago and told me she'd been having blackouts. Her wrists were bandaged and had bite marks all over. I-I compelled her to forget, and I put vervain in her coffee the next morning."

Bonnie was furious. "What?" she hissed. "How- why did you not tell me?"

"I thought that whoever was feeding on her might stop if they couldn't compel her."

"No, they just killed her!" Bonnie shouted. When hurt flashed across the blonde's face, Bonnie softened her tone. "Look, I'm sorry. Do you think they might've-"

She didn't get to finish her sentence because Bella gasped and abruptly sat up.

"Oh, thank God," Esme said in relief, a hand over her heart, which surely would've been pounding out of its chest if it could.

"Are there really other types of vampires?" Rosalie asked doubtfully.

Carlisle frowned. "I'm not entirely sure. But if this is a potential future for Bella, I'd say they might exist."

Bella came out of her memories and looked at Damon, who was her 'Vampire mentor' in a way. "Okay, snatch, eat, and erase," she repeated, nodding her head.

"Finding someone is the easy part. 'Eating' is trickier. You're still new, which will make it harder to stop. The erase is the hardest. You have to actually believe what you're saying." He looked at her seriously. Damon smiled when she nodded, taking it in. "Okay. Let's go."

He grabbed her hand and led them inside the large fraternity house. The night's theme was 'murderers and serial killers'. Convenient.

Inside, there were colorful lights occasionally blinding them. The air was heavy with alcohol and smoke. But there was something else that permeated the air; blood.

"She's going to drink from humans?" Alice asked incredulously. "In the middle of a party?"

Edward was disheartened to know that Bella would do such a thing, even if it was in another world. But if an alternate universe Bella would do it, what would stop his Bella from doing it? He shook those thoughts away, knowing that she'd stay human. He smiled a little to himself at the thought of seeing her again.

Bella looked around the crowded room for someone to sink her teeth into. She approached a slightly intoxicated girl, but she could smell the drugs in her blood and turned away.

She walked around with a red plastic cup to blend in and she found him. A clearly drunk guy talking to a blonde girl. Bella nodded to herself, gaining confidence, and walked over, pretending to bump into him.

"I'm sorry," she apologized. She looked at him and then down at the cup in her hands. "Drink?" Bella handed the cup to him and walked into the next room, which was entirely empty, and she waited.

She knew guys, she knew they couldn't resist a pretty girl - especially if they were drunk. Sure enough, the boy stumbled in seconds later, looking at Bella as if she were a greek goddess. There was no beauty enhancement that came with the transformation; it was all her.

"Hey, beautiful," he slurred, pressing himself against her.

The Cullens watched with bated breath, wondering what Bella was going to do.

Bella stood for a minute, remembering what Caroline had said about compelling someone.

"To compel, you need to believe what you are telling them. You look into their eyes, lull them into a sense of security, and tell them what you want them to believe," Caroline said. "The catch, though, is if they've ingested or are wearing vervain, they'll be impervious and can't be compelled.

"Always make sure vervain is nowhere on their person before you feed. If you don't...well, then you have a problem."

She focused on the boy, whose arm was currently snaking around her waist toward her ass. Bella grabbed his arm and threw it back to his side. She looked into his eyes, "Don't move and don't make a sound. This won't hurt a bit."

"That's what they all say," Emmett snickered.

Rose glared. Can't he see how serious this is?

The boy didn't move as she leaned into his neck. She glanced behind him toward the closed door before biting.

As she gulped down the blood, her grip on the boy tightened and she tried to pull him closer, but he was already as close as can be.

"She's draining him," Jasper said grimly. Alice leaned her head on his shoulder.

The door opened and Damon walked in. He saw Bella in the middle of feeding and waited.

"Stop her, dammit!" Emmett shouted, not wanting to see his little sister kill someone.

Damon got impatient after only a few seconds, seeing the poor guy's knees cave out. "I can't believe I'm saying this," he muttered to himself before stepping up and grabbing her arm. "That's enough."

She swatted his arm away and put it on the boy's shoulder.

Damon sighed in annoyance. "Bella," he said in warning.

Finally, without further interference from Damon, she pulled her fangs away. Bella grabbed the boy's chin and made him face her. "Go home, and forget this happened." He stumbled out of the room with a hand to his neck.

Bella turned to Damon, blood all over her clothes and dripping down her mouth. He looked annoyed, and, underneath that, proud. Must be a huge step up from his brother who decapitated almost every human he drank from. No wonder he drank animal blood.

"Rippaaaa," Damon once mocked.

She chuckled at the memory and wiped the blood from her mouth.

"How do you feel?" Damon asked, pointing to his left cheek, a spot where blood was left on hers.

"Good," she answered, walking over to the hall mirror. Bella rubbed the rest off while Damon came up behind her. They made eye contact in the mirror. "Really good."

"Good," he said, distractedly. Damon had felt something change, though he didn't know what. But he knew it had something to do with the woman in front of him. The woman whose beauty he didn't quite notice before.

Rose, remembering that they could now whisper without being overheard, leaned towards Emmett. "It sounds like he's falling in love."

Emmett looked at the screen, and he saw the attraction between Damon and Bella that hadn't been there before. Then he looked at Edward and compared the relationships Bella had with the two men. "Yeah," he sighed. "It does."

Next to them, Esme and Carlisle had also noticed the difference between them. They smiled knowingly at each other before turning back to the screen.

One Year Later

Bella sat at the desk in her office at the Salvatore House. It was July and she decided to come back to Mystic Falls for the summer to be near Charlie without living in the same house as him. She needed her privacy, too.

She was following the online footprint of the founding families. She needed to know if they were any closer to discovering that the supernatural was living right under their noses.

So far, all they knew was that there was one werewolf in town. Well, vampire-werewolf hybrid, because apparently, that's possible. Either way, he was no longer a problem.

"What's got you so wound up, love?"

"Is that…"

"That's-"

"Him," Edward growled. His grip on the arm of the chair made his skin paler if that were possible, and his eyes narrowed.

One goes away, another comes back, she groaned mentally.

Bella looked up and glared at the man who killed her. "Jesus, Klaus! A little warning next time." She looked back to her computer. "What are you doing here?"

"Visiting a friend," he answered simply, looking around the room.

"You mean Caroline?" she asked dryly. "Good luck with that. She still doesn't forgive you for killing Tyler. And Stefan. Oh, and me."

Suddenly, he was in front of her, bent down over her computer and in her face. "You'd do better to watch that tongue unless you want to lose it."

She rolled her eyes at his threat. "You don't scare me, Klaus."

He straightened and shrugged his shoulders. "It was worth a try."

"And I meant," she looked back up, "what are you doing here?"

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out an envelope. "I've been tasked to give this to you," Klaus said somewhat irritably.

"'Tasked'? The great Klaus Mikaelson has been tasked to deliver something to little old me?" Bella couldn't resist teasing him. Here was a vampire, an original vampire, over a thousand years old, giving her something because he was 'tasked' to do so. She snorted at the absurdity of it.

"Well, that's interesting," Carlisle muttered.

"What is?" Jasper asked.

The doctor pointed at Klaus on the screen. "He may be a few thousand years younger than the kings, but he's one of the original vampires of that specific species."

"She certainly does attract the supernatural. Even as one herself," Emmett chuckled, shaking his head.

Rosalie sat quietly next to her husband. Something didn't make sense. "Why would Klaus, 'an original vampire', kill little Bella? What was she to him?" she groaned, pulling her hands down her face.

"Yes, yes. Very funny. Get on with it," he gestured to the envelope that was now in her hands.

He didn't leave like she expected him to. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Do you want to know what's in here?"

"No," he denied, but his voice was slightly higher so she saw through his lie. "Alright, yes! I do."

Bella chuckled and looked at the envelope.

Isabella Marie Swan

There was nothing on the front except for her name. No return or delivery address, and since Klaus hand-delivered it, she wasn't expecting a stamp anyways.

Her name was written in an elegant script that she would recognize anywhere. Edward.
