lord web of life of destiny: I might do a few cameos.
Arch-Angel-Writer: I'd need to read the comics or check the games out first.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars: The Clone Wars, only the OC Jayden Shan.
Christophsis was a planet located in the Christoph system of the galaxy's Outer Rim Territories. The war had been brought to the planet, just seven weeks after it begun on Geonosis. Seeking to gain control of the planet's strategic resources, the Separatist Droid Army led by General Whorm Loathsom invaded and captured Christophsis. Responding to an urgent plea from the world's inhabitants, the Galactic Republic and the Jedi High Council dispatched High Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker with Admiral Wullf Yularen and a clone trooper contingent from the Grand Army of the Republic to liberate the planet.
Jayden had made sure to read a datapad on the reports of the ongoing Siege of Christophsis.
Having arrived not too long ago in his starship, The Rogue Shadow, Jayden had immediately gotten a status report on how the battle was going right now. After learning how the battle was going, Jayden took action. he was not here to sit and watch the fight going on, he was here to make certain the Republic failed in winning the planet. The Republic forces had managed to break through the Separatist naval blockade, meaning Whorm Loathsom was the only Separatist preventing the Republic forces from capturing Christophsis.
So Jayden will go behind enemy lines and kill as may as he can, perhaps even sabotage them from the inside. The Separatist forces had yet to attack, giving him an ample opportunity to thin the Republic forces before they went on the offensive.
They wouldn't stand a chance against the power of the Force and the skill of Lightsaber combat. But if Jayden was to face one or both of the Jedi knights fighting for the Republic... it'll be a more different story considering Jayden has never faced a Jedi yet. His Master believed him well trained to handle Jedi.
Jayden remained in the shadows, his hood up and a mask covering his head. His mask was designed after Revan's mask, yet due to the technology of the current era, Jayden's mask was much more advanced which would be useful for Jayden to plan out a map of any area he's in among other things. The Sith Apprentice was crouched on a crate in the shadows, watching the Clone Troopers mulling about as they took a breather from the latest battle with the Separatists.
It would be their undoing.
Jayden soon saw one Clone, a sergeant, given the markings on his armour, break from the lines and taking a wall... right in his direction. Jayden remained as still as a statue until the Clone had passed before he used the Force to choke the Clone and pull him into the shadows, a Lightsaber activating right through the Clone's chest, causing the Clone to gasp several times before the life left him and Jayden carefully placed the body down so he didn't alert the other Clones. It wouldn't do to put the rest on alert and ruin this right off the second Jayden got started.
Deactivating his Lightsaber, Jayden walked away, still hidden in the shadows. The shadows cast by the many crystalline formations around the area, common on Christophsis, made for excellent cover. Sprinting out into the open, the Sith Apprentice quickly disappeared inside of a building. Hoping to avoid detection, he found the first stairwell and began to climb. Behind enemy lines, Clones could be anywhere. He needed the advantage. After he had climbed up to the sixth floor, voices from the floor above made him stop. He crouched low on the stairs and carefully listened.
"How did we get stuck on building clearance?"
"Probably your constant whining. Now stow that talk, you don't wanna end up like Slick do you?"
"Slick was a traitor, he deserved it. I'm nothing like that Sithspawn."
Jayden carefully snuck into the room the two Clones were in, chatting. He used the Force to cause one to choke, startling his friend but he was soon killed by a Lightsaber through the chest while the second one had his neck crushed by the Force. Jayden deactivated his Lightsaber again since he didn't want the hum of the weapon to get the attention of any other Clones that could be in this building.
Jayden looked out the window and saw it gave him an ample view of the Republic camp, a good opportunity for study if ever there was one. Initially, he was impressed with the vast setup the Republic had constructed in the city ruins. But the multiple mobile cannons by their front lines quickly grabbed his attention. It seemed likely that General Loathsome was unaware of their presence. This was information that he needed to know.
He left the building as quickly as he had come and snuck back out onto the streets, keeping to the shadows. He was thankful the sun was in the position it was, behind the building from which it cast such long shadows. He broke into a run, quickly moving between ruined and abandoned structures as he sprinted through the quiet streets, the busyness of the Republic base growing quieter behind him. The bombed out buildings, made so by numerous Separatist attack runs, cast long silhouettes across the streets, bleeding together until the sun was only visible at the right angle.
His cover was not as useful as it once was.
The Republic base was out in broad daylight, the shadows contrasting the sunlight and providing a hiding place. But here, shadows were common. Anyone could be here and he was no longer so hidden he needed to divert his course to more secure paths, and soon.
As he was thinking these thoughts, he came across a rubble-strewn square. And a patrolling squad of five Clone troopers. Scouts no doubt, this was unplanned and not good. One of them looked up and saw him as he slid to a halt.
"Hey you!" One of the Clones shouted but Jayden jumped down, his Lightsaber activating, and he began slaughtering the Clones, deflecting their blaster shots and slashing and slicing, or using the Force to send them crashing into the wall hard enough to kill them on impact.
Jayden deactivated his Lightsaber once he killed the last Clone and looked over the corpses before he walked on.
A successful hunt if he does say so himself...
The fighting was relentless and the toll it was taking was beginning to show. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi both knew that they needed to break the Separatist lines sooner or later… with or without reinforcements. The job was tough, as they had learned over the past seven weeks of fighting in this war. The Separatists weren't going to make things easy on them and had every intention of winning this war one way or another.
The sudden retreat of the droid army was an unexpected boon that they welcomed wholeheartedly, the war machines suddenly faltering in the face of heavy cannonfire. And then their luck changed for the better, something Anakin heard before he felt it. It was a very distinctive sound, pure music. He looked up at the same moment Obi-Wan did, and what he saw was possibly even more wonderful than it sounded. It was so arresting that he almost missed the droids up ahead doing a sudden, crisp about-turn and marching away again.
An armed Republic shuttle banked above the street and veered off toward the plaza.
Anakin turned to Kenobi, trying to look unmoved. He wanted to cheer. But it wasn't a very Jedi thing to do. "They're pulling back." He said before a Republic shuttle flew overhead and they walked in the direction of it.
"Looks like help has arrived." Obi-Wan said as R2-D2 rolled up to them, beeping several times. "Our cruiser must be back."
"Which means we'll be able to get our reinforcements." Anakin concluded with a small grin as they made to greet the arriving craft. Artoo rolled along beside them and offered a few whistles of his own remarks.
"Then it looks like our problems are solved. Fresh troops, new supplies, and perhaps they brought my new Padawan with them." Obi-Wan mused, sounding hopeful.
Anakin gave his Master a skeptical look. "You really think it's a good idea to bring a Padawan learner into all this?"
"I spoke to Master Yoda about it," Obi-Wan replied, "you should put in a request for one, too. You'd make a good teacher." He suggested.
Anakin chucked and shook his head. "No, thanks."
"Anakin, teaching is a privilege. And it's part of a Jedi's responsibility to help train the next generation." Obi-Wan chastised.
"A Padawan would just slow me down." Anakin retorted, firm on the matter.
The gunship touched down between two cannon emplacements, and the ramp went down. But no fresh Clone troopers disembarked, or even supply droids steering fully-laden repulsors and ammunition crates.
Instead, out stepped a figure neither of them were anticipating… A little female Togruta stepped onto the plaza instead. A tiny girl. A child.
Ahsoka's colorful Togruta form certainly brought a splash of color to the monotone Christophsis, both Anakin and Obi-Wan taken aback by her looks and presence. Not only did it appear that Obi-Wan's desire had been fulfilled, but it had been in the strangest of ways.
"A youngling?" Obi-Wan said, surprised.
"And who are you supposed to be?" Anakin asked aloud. Artoo tweeted his own explanation, something he'd been informed about beforehand. The little Togruta drew herself up to her full height, which wasn't saying much, and craned her neck to look up at Kenobi.
"I'm Ahsoka." She answered in a chipper tone. "Master Yoda sent me. He was worried that you hadn't reported in, and he couldn't reach you, so he sent me with a message."
"Sent you?" Kenobi repeated. "So where's the cruiser? Where are our reinforcements? Our support?"
"The ship dropped me off. Master Yoda wants you to return to the Temple right away. There's an emergency." Ahsoka replied.
"Well, I don't know if you've noticed, but we're in a bit of an emergency right here." Anakin retorted brashly and gestured over his shoulder at the palls of smoke still rising into the air. "Just great! They don't even know we're in trouble!"
"Maybe you can relay a signal through the cruiser that just dropped me off." Ahsoka suggested, thinking quickly. Her notion took the two by surprised, and for a brief moment they were unanimously impressed by her ingenuity.
After some fiddling with the equipment and some extra effort on behalf of the cruiser above the planet, Anakin and Obi-Wan finally managed to get through to the Jedi Temple, half a galaxy away on Coruscant.
A holographic render of Yoda appeared before them on the holotable, "Master Kenobi, glad Ahsoka found you, I am." He greeted.
"Master Yoda, we are trapped here and vastly outnumbered. We are in no position to go anywhere or do anything." Obi-Wan grimly replied. "Our support ships have all been destroyed."
"Send reinforcements to you, we will." Yoda promised. Anything further he had to say was promptly lost to garbled static, the communication lost as the cruiser above came under heavy fire from the Separatist cruisers attacking it. The Grandmaster's image was soon replaced by the Communications officer from the cruiser.
"We've lost the transmission sir. We have to leave orbit immediately, more enemy ships have just arrived." He informed them. "We'll get back to you as soon as we can." The promise lingered as his signal cut out, the Jedi left in further silence.
"Well, I guess we'll just have to hold out a little longer." Anakin grumbled. He hated it when things didn't go his way. Obi-Wan offered a sympathetic shrug before his gaze returned to Ahsoka.
"My apologies, young one. It's time for a proper introduction." He told her. Straightening up and doing her best to look presentable, the Togruta went first.
"I'm the new Padawan learner. I'm Ahsoka Tano." Nodding in acceptance, Obi-Wan followed suit.
"I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi, your new master." Ahsoka raised one of her brow markings, suggestion confusion.
"I'm at your service, Master Kenobi, but I'm afraid I've actually been assigned to Master Skywalker." She replied. Anakin blanched, draw dropping open in horrified shock.
"What? No no no no!" He quickly waved her off. "There must be some mistake. He's the one who wanted the Padawan." He urged, jabbing a thumb in Kenobi's direction.
"No… Master Yoda was very specific." Ahsoka stubbornly replied, she couldn't believe she had to sound this out for the Chosen One of all people. "I'm assigned to Anakin Skywalker and he is to supervise my Jedi training." She started firmly, crossing her arms.
"But that doesn't make any sense!" Anakin protested.
"We'll have to sort this out later." Obi-Wan interjected. "It won't be long before those droids sort out a way around our cannons." Nodding in acceptance, Anakin turned to go.
"I'll check on Rex in the lookout post." He offered.
"You'd better take her with you." Obi-Wan added with a not-so-subtle grin, gently pushing the eager Ahsoka to go after him. Anakin paused, but didn't look back. He mentally sighed to himself.
Jayden was on one knee, crouched before the hologram of his Master, his mask removed. "Master, General Loathsom has started up the energy shield and our forces have begun to move. This battle may soon be over."
"Very good, my young Apprentice." Dooku nodded, his arms folded across his chest. "You're task here is done. I have a new task for you. I want you to join up with Ventress and make sure to keep Jabba the Hutt's son out of enemy hands. No doubt Jabba has reached out to the Republic, and the Jedi will do whatever they can to rescue the young Hutt."
Jayden nodded, keeping his displeasure at working with Ventress at the back of his mind. They weren't friends, nor did they like each other, but they did know that when their Master wants them to work together, they will do so or face punishment at his hands.
"Yes, my Master." Jayden bowed his head and the hologram of Dooku disappeared. Jayden exhaled through his nose and stood, putting his mask back on and threw his hood up before he walked out the room, having been using one of the empty tall buildings as a main area to watch the current battle going on and also to speak with Dooku without the sounds of the battle cutting into the talk.
Jayden watched the battle going on between the Republic and Separatist forces before he caught something out the corner of his eye in the energy shield and he spotted two individuals, one a man dressed in dark Republic attire. Anakin Skywalker, the so-called Chosen One who will destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. Jayden then shifted his gaze to the second individual and he tilted his head.
A young female Togruta, wearing a backpack, charged towards the shield generator. Shimmering blue eyes filled with youthful determination and concentration were intensely focused on her goal. Her head was adorned by white, blue striped montrals. Padawan beads hung down the back of her head, whipping wildly around with her hurried movements. Her brown tube top matched her skirt, boots and gloves but stuck out compared to her light grey leggings. Her orange skin almost glowed in the sunlight but was definitively set apart from the pure white markings on her face.
'Now who is she, I wonder?' Jayden thought to himself as he watched her take on several droids. 'She's young. Didn't think the Jedi would have the guts to bring one so young into this war.'
Shaking his head, Jayden walked off to get to his ship and leave this system...
Yeah, Jayden didn't much part in the battle for Christophsis, he doesn't want the Jedi finding out about him just yet, but they'll learn about him soon before this arc is done with.
