The Master Chief stood in the Pelican drop-ship. It's finally over, he thought. The war had been a long one, starting with the crash landing on the first halo. The Master Chief had come close to death quite a few times on that halo. He had been out of it's atmosphere for mere seconds when it blew up. He thought Earth had one then, but it turned out most of the Covenants, the enemy, were still alive. They had gone to war again, this time on Earth. The battle moved to another halo, and the Earth's military ended up becoming allies with the retired Covenant ranks, who helped them battle new Covenant forces, and another enemy, called the Flood. On the first halo, both the covenant and the Earth's military forces had faced the flood, but it had been every race for itself then. This time, they teamed up against the flood, and defeated them.
The Covenant were allowed to reside on Earth now, and could even get jobs. Hunters could easily go into the military, as could the other ranks.
"Master Chief, you might want to sit down, we are about to enter the Earth's atmosphere," the pilot of the Pelican said. The Master Chief sat. When the Pelican landed, Master Chief jumped out to see Sergeant Johnson standing nearby. good to see you survived the war, Master Chief, he said. The Master Chief nodded, and looked around. His suit, dented and battle worn, reflected the sunlight. He felt glad to be back on Earth.
Just then, a boom roared through the city. The Master Chief looked up, and saw the top stories of an unfinished building in flames, and something fall out. He ran, wanting to catch it if it were a person. It was, and he caught the man that was falling. The man was very pale and unconscious. The Master Chief put him down on the ground, and glanced up. When he looked back down, he was surprised to see the man standing. He reached out to check on him, but the man started morphing. He morphed into a Flood creature that looked similar to a Hunter. The Flood creature ran towards Master Chief and pushed him to the ground. Then, he leaped atop of him and started choking him. Sergeant Johnson started shooting at it with his battle rifle, and it fell over, dead. The Master Chief got up and glanced towards the fire blazing at the to of the unfinished building, and he did not like what he saw…
