So this was what it had come to.
Jack closed his eyes, the bustle of base personnel fading into a background of silence.
People were going to die today. Millions would lose their lives, caught in a war started for reasons they didn't know, ordered by generals and presidents and men who sat on high. Men who might be Goa'uld.
There would be a first strike; panic and fear would spread like waves across the world. Three of Earth's superpowers launching into a sudden war that would tear the continents apart. If you didn't die in the open attacks, the radiation would get you sooner or later. Children, women, men, innocent civilians…
And they wouldn't know why they had died.
He was about to start a war.
Jack opened his eyes and stood up.
"Get me Washington…"
